    Updater slow!!!

...downloading things takes money? And you *can* do other things while it downloads, you know. You don't have to sit and watch the numbers tick down...

That aside, the updater is well-known to use "Microsoft Minutes"...i.e. it is likely that it will take much less than it says it will. If it's not going very fast, it's likely to be a firewall problem or some other problem on your end, however. The Tech Issues forum may be able to help you more.

Because the devs don't release info until it's in or close to final stage.

For that matter, do you really believe that it HELPS the community to know that certain people have access to all the information about the new expansion, and can't tell the "normal" people about it? Don't you think this might contribute to the perception that an "elite" group in closed beta gets extra dev attention? Or the gripe posts that come up EVERY closed beta complaining that some people seem to always get in, and some 60+ month veterans have never been invited?

Obviously, you believe that the secrecy surrounding a new issue is worth some player discontent. Is this something that has been really considered, or just something that's just always been this way?
    Because things change.

What's in the Closed Beta might not be what's in the Open Beta, or even in the final product. Leaks of things that get people excited, only to have them change later, leads to possible disappointment or even nerdrage.

You'll notice that they never announce things that aren't 99.99% certain to happen. It's the same deal.

Posi: "Hey guys, we're working on this...and it might be like this."
    Fans: "YAY!"
Posi: "Oh, wait...never mind...now we're not working on it anymore."
Fans: "BOO! WE HATE YOU, POSI!"

So yeah...it's not to keep things "secret"...it's to assure that what hits the public will almost certainly be what the final product will be, or at least a pretty close approximation. Showing the public as a whole a rather buggy and incomplete version of the final product is never a good idea.

  6. I know that I use Local Friends all the time, for the "______ is now online" message. For toons that team with other specific ones frequently, it's very nice.

I'm happy with the Local Friends for e-mail, since I don't really care about the system at all...but hopefully they'll be able to change it to Global, for those that want to use it still.
  7. If you have a time you want to form it at, you can try posting down in the Virtue SG section, and asking for people who would like to join at this time. I'm reasonably certain that you'd fill up in no time...and you'll get a lot better team than a PUG.

You could also try joining a global channel like VU2009 or virtuebadges09, and recruiting from there.

Last time I checked, people who want to enjoy game content sometimes want to play with people who are of a different level.

This change *is* helping them. It's helping PLers in a way, but slowing them down immensely in another.

Oh, now *I* have to specify it's NOT a farm?!?!?

    Ridiculous.
*shrug* That's still 3 people to team with. There's nothing saying that you have to team with 8-man groups all the time.

    Odd spawns

That's been happening with Lost for years. I remember a Cape mission two years ago that had nothing but bosses in it. They're just a boss-heavy group.

And it's really not that big of a deal. It's not like there are huge swarms of bosses. It's just a few of them, even on a large team.

There is more to AE than boss missions. A *lot* more.

My first character is an Empath and I don't give a damn what kind of stereotypes other Empaths are out there working on. I don't "rock the aura" and never have. I have and slot my blasts and use my Nova whenever I can. I let my own personal reputation speak for me, not the stereotypes others perform to.
EMT: "Oh, hey...that guy's running into the street. I guess I'll just let him do that, then patch him up after he gets hit by a car..."

You're right, he can play whatever he wants. But any EMT worth their salt would rather someone not get injured in the first place, if at all possible.
  13. I rarely use squid form anymore, but I used to switch using a keybind that said "Ia ia Bunthulhu fhtagn!". (Bunthulhu being the name of my bunny WS)
  14. You're right! We should be just like other MMOs! We should be like WoW, and have downtimes that last upwards of 6-8 hours...sometimes even longer!

Really, though...have you actually been in game at this time? Things are almost dead, because most people are either at work or in school. They determined that this time is when the servers are the slowest, so that's when they do the updates.

Would you rather they let things remain unupdated and broken so you don't have to find something else to do for an hour or two?

I've worked customer service. Yes, you're paid to be polite and courteous and helpful (within the bounds of what you're allowed to do). Guess what, the people that you are helping aren't always in the best mood. Some can be downright abusive. In time it wears you down. I've seen normally good personnel snap and yell at customers on the phone. Also, the customer isn't always right, yet you're expected, within reason, to act like they are.
*shrug* His story is extremely vague and full of holes. I've had nothing but good experiences with GMs, and except for a few isolated incidents, I've heard of nothing but good experiences. I certainly haven't heard of anything like this, being banned for asking how to file a complaint.

Add to that the improbability of any snail mail actually getting a response, and the even higher improbably of a company rep actually calling someone up...I just don't buy it.
  16. Somehow, this reeks of "The GM refused to cater to my every whim, so I got rude and disruptive, then whined when I got punished for it."

Probably 6 months ago? I dunno. If you tested it semi-recently, you're probably right, and they fixed it.

You can subscribe to a post under Thread Tools at the right-side part of the top of the post. And there shouldn't be any reason you can't bookmark the forum. You bookmark it just like you would any other forum.

...so...it would be a "hell of a lot of work" for you to do, but if they did the work, it would be "so easily added"?

I'm sorry that something you used was inadvertently taken away...but sometimes things like that happen with restructures. The best you can do at this point is take this to the Suggestions forum, and hope that someone has time to (re-)implement something like this.

Or you could adapt. Either way.

...that's very strange. My main was working on getting Crafting Discounts from the Entrepreneur accolade. I logged her in every day for a week, and didn't get a single coupon...but when I left her logged out for two full days, she finally had two coupons.
  22. ...weird. Where were you logging out in Pocket D? The only other possibility I can think of is that you logged out somewhere that counts for a different badge, like the hospital or vault.

If you try it again, and it doesn't work, I'd /bug it. It's been a while since I got mine charged, so it might have accidentally gotten broken since then.

    And you're welcome.
  23. Storyline reasons. You were never *in* the Zig, so you never had to break out of it.
