Trying to get into CoV, so I'm gonna bring out my villainous side.............
Bump.
[/ QUOTE ]
that deserves a MIMLAM -
do you program? before you start coding you have to have some idea where the program is going first. everyone still uses flow charts to depict this, although they are more commonly referred to as SCATA systems now.
SCATA stands for something but hell if i remember -

im actually not sure that that is actually doable. things like the police drones is easy to code to not give debt as the only place they can affect people are in PVP zones.
now if you change say arachnos guys to give no debt in a pvp zone. that would automatically make them give no debt in a PVE zone as well. Sure it could be coded around, but that would be a severe pain in the [censored].
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah. I think just about everything in the game takes hoards of programming, nature of the beast. Wouldn't you just like a little peek at the flowcharting diagrams for the game?
[/ QUOTE ]
omg god no. the flow charts for this game would be freaking huge. just trying to trace the functions would be nightmarish -

IDK if this was brought up because i dont feel like reading the whole entire thread, but i acctually thought about it when i just made my post, here it is:
Cuppa, is someone in a PvP zone aloud to Teleport you, hold you, immobilize you, or in any way do something to you that you cant control INTO a PvE mob? Does that count and is acceptable? Because that has happened to me 1000+ times and i HATE getting debt.
Now your probably going to say that this is a PvP zone and it has risks and i understand that. But then why are PvE's in a PvP zone? I can understand for Sirens Call that you need them in there and the meteor guys in BB and the guys in the "web" for WB.
But can a player do that to ya?

During CoV beta, a player asked:

So instead of joining right in, I drag my toggle (darkest night) herding up say a few spawns of mobs, and drag them over the battle, hoping to cause a big ruckus, get a few people to drop below 50% hp, and bam SCOURGE!...
Got a tell from a guy afterward saying that I griefed them.
Sure a few guys got killed by NPC damage so they got debt, but it is a valid tactic yes?

The OFFICIAL response, from Statesman himself (please note the red), was:

Actually, it's a valid tactic the way you describe it.

You are also talking about someone that used their GM rights in CoH beta to monster grief a group just because they griefed him. Mage Storm was 100% correct in this thread earlier. Just because you can do something doesn't make it right, Samus.
[/ QUOTE ]
okay here is a question regarding mobs. say i am fighting in a hotspot by myself, im at just above 1/2 healthand i have about 12 mobs around me. a villian throws a couple attacks at me and i drop to like 50 hp. say the next attack on me is by a psi spider - lm dead. i just got debt because a villian attacked me.
is this griefing? if not why? if your one villian and 12 mobs. what are the percentages your getting the kill? make it easier, say it was 9 mobs. that gives you a 10 % chance have getting the kill. 9/10 times you will be giving me debt? realistically that should be considered debt.
or how about the other way around. im tp you into a hotspot with my troller. i have minimal dmg output. i hope for the mobs to where you down and get teh killing shot. same scenario. i have 10% chance to get the bounty, but i am trying to kill you, is it griefing? -

But I hope that he, and you, recognize that this game should not revolve around anyone's specific ideals of how a zone should be like. Because it's not, has never been that way, and should never be that way.
[/ QUOTE ]
i just got home from work so im not sure if this was covered or not. but you just shot yourself in the foot there machete. Thats exactly what is happening. except its the peoples whose idea of fight club is being imposed on the zone. and anyone who doesn't agree with those ideals is being labelled an [censored], a griefer and a ganker
[/ QUOTE ]
I was talking about a SINGLE person's ideals, which is what your buddy is trying to force upon the much larger group of folks who have embraced and liked to particpate in FC.
This group doesn't force anyone to participate in FC...they don't go around the streets of SC trying to push/force everyone to come up to the FC building. Unlike your Heroe buddy who forces people to come to the street so he can have HIS fun. Come on TA, don't be so obtuse.
Regards,
[/ QUOTE ]
but they do. if everyone is at fight club. that single person if they want to pvp is forced into FC. its already been proven that if he goes upto the roof and tries to kill his bounty he will be attacked by all spectators on the roof.
how does that not force their ideal on him? and before someone brings up the arguement of he can go to another zone, thats not valid. SC is the only place where you can get bounty. and they may not be of a high enough level to go to warburg -
[ QUOTE ]
Just to make things clear here -
If someone attacks you in a PvP zone and you are having an RP event (like FC) that is NOT harassment.
If you are in a PvP zone you can attack another player repeatedly.
However - you cannot trash talk someone using vulgar words, racial slurs, sexual slurs or other UA violating actions. That IS harassment and can be actioned against by the GMs.
You could also be actioned for exploiting in a PvP zone - for example - by hanging out as a villain in a hero hospital to gank heroes as they respawn. This is not as designed and may be actioned.

thankyou for responding Cuppa. -

My two cents:
People are spectating at FC. One of them is your bounty. Walk up to them.
Ask:
"Hey, you are my bounty, can I just get the kill?"
They often say, "Sure" because they can just come right back.
If they say "No", then CHALLENGE THEM to a FC match.
If they say "No" to that, then:
A) Suck it up
B) Keep asking them
C) Explain to them
DO NOT ATTACK WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION.
In other areas, feel free to attack them. Not in FC. Just not there. Simple as that.
[/ QUOTE ]
thats teh problem right there though SS. why would i be a griefer for attacking someone in a PVP zone? cause that person says so? cause that person believes that he can sit in a PVP zone, that you are warned about you will be attacked?
its not so much that FC is the problem. the problem is that when people are on that roof they think that they should be immune to any attacks.
it that is the case whats to stop this. my tank is on his way to FC. villians are camping the base. they tp me into a swarm and decimate me. i call them griefers because they are interrupt my enjoyment of the zone to go to fight club.
so what is the difference, i want to participate in FC, does it matter that i am not on the roof yet and just on my way there? if it does matter than why? i am still in a pvp zone and free to be attacked?
[/ QUOTE ]
There is a difference between PvP and harrassment.
PvP is "Bam, I killed you. Good bye."
Harassment is "I've killed you once. Now I'll do it again just for fun while I get no bounty or rep....but you have to suffer with me."
[/ QUOTE ]
whos killing who multiple times? the only 1 i see getting killed over and over is Catholic.
Therefore by your definition he is being harrassed -
but its tough to pvp when everyone in the zone is at fight club, and dont tell me it doesn't happen as when i log in after work thats what it is 70% of the time.

Hey, self proclaimed Catholic, have you tried participating in Fight Club?
You don't know a person until you've walked in their shoes.

actually Catholic did have a few FC matches on Saturday before we teamed up. i can vouch for that -
[ QUOTE ]
If he was, infact, getting kills. I would have nothing to say as his points would be completely valid and irrefutable.
However thats just not the case. He's going up there with the goal of disruption and causing debt. The first part is fine, but the second, and I don't care WHO posts on this, is griefing. Respect.
[/ QUOTE ]
actually not neccessarily. yesterday afternoon Catholic came into the zone, came up to fight club - no hurricane running. he immediately gets attacked by 2 stalkers and a MM.
all he did was set a single foot into FC and he was ganked. Is it griefing no, but according to a lot of posts here it could be harrasment -

im sorry, but catholic goes to the zone more than to just "grief" i have teamed with Catholic multiple times and we have gone out bounty hunting as well as hotspot fighting. he doesn't go there just to grief.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, I agree with you here...but this has not been the case lately. Like I said many, many, many times before, I used to like this kid because he forced me to think of new strategies to overcome his Hurricane. But lately he's just being a bully.
Anway, I say bring it on...I don't cry about anything over broadcast...bring it on, I have a nice gift for him.
Cheers,
[/ QUOTE ]
i was teamed with him for about 3 hours on Saturday. so its not like its all the time. there wasn't fight club going on so we had a blast taking on teams of villians in the hotspots.
here is another perspective on FC. I use a PVE build. i will likely never change it. i dont want to hose my build for what i do most of the time which is team with my SG.
1 on 1 i will lose 25-30 matches i have on FC becuase of this. so what is the fun for me in FC. some days when i get home from work i log into sirens and most of the time all that is going on is FC. so what am i supposed to do. go to fight club and claim my bounty every 30 matches i have? sorry not fun. and with FC going street fighting doesn't happen. -

Villians, when you see the Knight coming, call me and I'll phase shift you. The other thing is to to get phase shift for yourself. It will certainly help you in PvP anyway and you can watch a match on FC in peace.

i haven't read the entire thread yet. but i did pm Cuppa yesterday about this.
here is the pms we exchanged

hey Cuppa im not sure if your the right person to ask about this, and if not can you direct me to the right person to pm but here goes.
i am sure you have noticed a lot of flaming on champion for sure about Fight Club. if you didn't know Fight Club is basically a 1 vs 1 duel on top of a building in Sirens Call. Everyone is up in arms about people who come to the top of the building to attack people there and they are considered griefers because of it.
The people on the roof believe that since they are having 1 vs 1 duels that they are safe from attacks and that anyone attacking them (while they are fighting or watching) or disrupting the fights in away are griefers.
i know for sure that on Saturday a person on the Champion forum playing a illusion/Storm controller was interferring with Fight Club was supposedly petitioned 3 times. Judging by the fact that he does this a lot i doubt that these are the only petitions against him. This leads me to belive that it is not considered griefing.
What would be nice if it is entirely possible would be for a red name to post whether it is griefing or not, or even if it has been decieded on whether it is or not. I am pretty sure that other servers have their versions of Fight Club just as well as champion.
i do know for a fact that a official post on the issue would stave off some of the flame wars in our forum for sure.
If you can answer or direct me to someone else who can answer this it would be greatly appreciated
