Quote:Well, I just said the necks have always been a problem... But yes, they should fix this before release as this means we are spending extra money. If they have the means to they should look on fixing that on other costumes too eventually. The gloves look better than the neck.
The boots don't look as bad as the armor neck.
Both the gloves and the boots seams could look better, but other gloves and boots tend to look about just as bad, so it seems to be a restriction with theeir system they have.
The connection between the gloves and the body here are a little off as well, worse than the gloves and boots of the armor, but not quite as bad as the neck.
Ah you can see some disconnect at the seam of the neck here. The veins clearly were meant to continue, but we didn't spend extra money just for this set, so the bio-armor set should be fixed before release!
And with the gloves and boots... Well, they´re not THAT bad. But what I meant for the Organic Armor is that they look just like that. Gloves and Boots. Something you wear, not something that grows from your flesh. If this is supposed to be a mutation than there should be an option where they would look like having skin, not fabric, underneath.
P.S. took off your images from quote to shorten post, as they are just above... -
Quote:Man, these would be much more in the feel of a "mutant" pack than this Biodemon one... With things like this we could work something like Revenant, the original one, the evil undead monster from The Freedom Phalanx book. That would be nice.Better for Mutation:
Asymmetrical proportion sliders and Left/Right part assignment for the pieces that already exist in the game.
Cosmetic tentacles. Anything that wiggles. Like the animated tails we already have. Something for each costume slot (head, hair, eyes, gloves, shoulders, etc.)
Optional default "rest" and "sprint" body positions. This would allow for more "bestial" play without any sort of costume alterations at all. Something loping and gorilla-like, or a logical extension of the "/em crouch" emote we already have. Many of the NPCs already exhibit these traits.
Deeper "monstrous" options across the board. And not only in mammalian animalistic directions. What about the Toxic Avenger? What about the Leader? A human "fly" head? Squid-head Cthulhu stuff. Tetsuo from "Akira's" ending sequence. An actual Cyclops. Use your imagination. Hands for feet. Snail eyes.
And so on. I've enjoyed every booster pack to date. This one comes up short, in my opinion.
Give us more options to work with the glows at least, please? To apply them in other skins besides the lizard one would be great... Organic armor should have a claws option too, that´s for sure. And both sets should work with Monstrous hands and Feet also, if this is to work as Mutant. -
Don´t forget the seams on gloves and boots... What kind of "coming from inside" armor looks like a boot? But again, these seams are all around the other costumes, SPECIALLY in boot and necks. The transitions from torso to head always were problematic...
-
So did I, but this other MMO pretty much suck in design, game play and development...
And is not backed up by industry giants DC Comic/Warner Brothers, is not based on a franchise that exists for about 80 years with several die-hard fans, does not have Jim Lee as "creative consultant (or whatever), doesn´t feature stories written by major comic book authors...
That all plus the "clerk pushing game for sale" in the post above combined with "no advertise at all for Going Rogue" at the same store doesn´t look well for us.
So yes, time for some red name (pointing at you BP!) to update us on this stuff. -
I can agree with it... The Lady Gaga a few pages back as an example looks like it has a bad case of dermatitis... LOL
-
Still very little advertisement in Gamestop... None at all at Razer.
Meanwhile DCUOnline has already a release date for those who Pre-Order....
And with •"Extreme customization" allows you to create your own custom hero or villain
and •DCUO uses a state-of-the-art physics engine that turns the world into your weapon (wich seems like the destructable universe many asks around) it looks bad for us... -
Quote:For what I understand, after about a minute or so you can click the power again if you get this mutation... Didn´t get it, so anyone who did can confirm this?I also wonder how many people will get kicked on a TF after they hit a power that makes them dead weight for 20 minutes.
BTW: As this is still on test, maybe if something like the Psychic Dart power was added to it (in place of every other power you have) would be a nice touch... And Monkey Gas would be just plain funny. lol -
Quote:Well, nobody calls it "Natural" pack... it´s "Ninja" Pack. And yes, I was one of those people dissapointed that it was temmed like this, even tough I like the outfits and Ninja run, it to me is not a "natural" pack...Ah yes, I remember people wanted firemen outfits, backpacks, and the sort with the "Natural" booster pack.
Edit: that to say that maybe call it "Mutant" Pack is a mistake... -
Quote:Hey, I don´t even plan to play Champions... Just saying they get more customization than we do. And as we were able to go on and say we had the best customization, it may not be true anymore. And sorry, I don´t know much about MMOs, but any other example I could give uses only items gained in game for customization, not things that can be edited from scrap in the creation of the character... So that´s why I used that game as an example. Two things Trial:
First, citing an MMO that's failing / failed as an example of what City of Heroes should do is probably Not a Good Idea(tm). Now I'm not saying I don't want to see further customization in the game, or that I don't want to see some of the developer only costume parts made available to players, but, there needs to be more logic to implementing feature sets beyond pointing to game that will likely never actually pay back it's development costs.
Second, citing granite armor isn't a good idea either. The fact that it needs ENGINE AND USER INTERFACE WORK TO EXPOSE COSTUME OVERLAY TO THE USER has been mentioned so many times, I might as well keep a standard copy of the usual rant saved in a text file.
Yes, I know the reason why Granite armor can´t be customized... Unfortunatelly same thing goes for the other forms of HEATs and MM Pets I believe. Yes, it was a rant, I know... It was subjective after all, so it CAN be a rant. -
Ok, I´m being only subjective here but I have to... And sorry about the long post.
I really like the costume sets and think there can be done some great costumes as some people have shown here, but as many have said they´re few and NOT what we were expecting... Specially after some comments made about montrous parts seeming like a mutant pack.
Correcting myself, I can´t talk for everyone, but it was not what I was expecting at least.
And considering we already have some of that in-game, even if only to NPCs, I am a lot dissapointed...
- Shark head, fins and "finger-claws" in Mako
- Werewolves
- Cyclops and Minotaur heads are in Cimerora
- Organic armor and "hair" in Coralax
- Tentacle arm (ugly, but assymmetrical even!) in the Lost... BTW: That seems more mutant to me than this booster.
Quote:Ok, never played Champions and don´t have the intention to do it anytime soon but... Sorry guys, we are losing the battle in what counts for customization. Maybe it is time to work on it. From what I saw before while they were in Beta you could already create A LOT of stuff you can´t do here and if you got to their store you can see lots more... They have Transparent/Invisible, Feathers, Fur (not only "Furry", but "Beasty"), Monter heads, Robot parts... Heck, they have back accessories! And "chest details" that can be, besides chest, used in back and head emblems, insignia shoulder pads, and belt!CO has bird feather tails and fish fins and all kinds of things we don't have. It's one area where they have us soundly beat. And a lot of people were expecting this to be it. But from the way David talks, they haven't even started thinking about doing it yet.
Since we´re paying for these boosters, as they do in their store, I don´t know why I can´t expect something like that.
Quote:Subjective: Honestly? And I'm really really surprised no one has mentioned this yet but everyone seems caught up on mutant=animal, but I was hoping a Mutant pack would give us something in the direction of the Shields, elemental designed gloves, boots, belts, models like the fire and ice swords as dual blade options...I would have loved an energy crown or crystalline gloves for instance. The organic sort of works in that direction, and the sets are pretty, but if anyone's reading feedback, how about sticking an Elemental booster in the pipeline?
Edit: Anyway, even if not what I expected I like it, so I´ll probaby be buying this if able to... -
Again, just so everyone knows what happened... They didn´t KNOW this deal WOULD exist and they didn´t PLAN anything like this. So, Gamestop came and offered this deal. Cool, let´s make some marketing as the players are always asking we do! What is the answer they get from it?
DOOOM!!!!! TRICKERY!!!!!!!! CHEATERS!!!!!!
Come on guys, there was no way this could have been foretold. At that time they told you everything they knew BY THEN.... NOW things changed. You got your DPs and Demons before anyone else... So stop whining and get over it!
What annoys me is that this deal is not being offered to EU and other foreing players... Not that I would buy it, I couldn´t care less, I´m still waiting for the launch... But again, the lack of "foreing love" upsets me. -
Why, oh WHY did you had to say something like this!?!?!?! Forget frigging Goatee Praetoria!!!!!! I wanna go to Rikti Prime and I want it NAO!!!!!!! Let me see those beautiful hyper technology!!!!!And I want Rikti costumes!!!! And Rikti AT!!!!!!
Edit: I come here to apologize for my behavior before... Sorry my felow forumites, that won´t happen again... *creepy glowing eyes... staring at me... mind burns... have to... obey...* And... And... All Hail Emperor Cole!!!!! -
-
Quote:I actually would like more to have my hands on the cosmetics you´re talking about then on these powers... But on the other hand I can not really be upset as I was not here when those were sold, so I am the only one to blame... Correcting, me and the lack of interest from the company that sells NCSoft stuff in Brazil. That's true, but this is the first pre-order bonus that has any mechanical effect. The sprints and costume parts are just cosmetic.
Eh, after seeing what they do, I'm not that angry anymore, but I still oppose the store exclusive pre-order thing on principle.
Just a little note in editing.. If I could buy this stuff I still would wait to see if they get another deal with another cmpany with different shiny. This is, as said before, "meh" to me. -
Quote:Even if I don´t give a crap about these new enhancements (I´m not one of the real oldies here, but to me they are like "Meh".. good for Newbies only I believe) I can agree with you about the lack of "foreing love". I mean, I live in Brazil and we pretty much don´t have access to ANY new shiny from the sellers around here... Last one we had was Cyborg Pack (!), but if you did buy AE edition you could get the Magic one directly from NCSoft.I believe it is pretty much the same through all South America. I also believe Australians would enjoy this stuff, as would Asian or African people. So, I guess it´s not only the EU side of consumers they are being neglected, you know. Seems like CoX has already GONE TO THE AMERICANS™ even without jerk-hacking™...I love this game and want to give Paragon Studios my money...why do they make it so damn impossible to do that.
Besides that, I think it was about time some marketing is done with Going Rogue and applaud the decision to do this... If no other retailer offered anything to them, what´s the big deal in making it happen with Gamestop? And I don´t think we were cheated with this, as this is nothing game-breaking and they actually didn´t know of anything when pre-purchase was announced. Sorry guys, there was NO WAY we could have been givven this as an option... How do you expect them to let us know BEFORE they would close a deal like this NOW? Time traveling? A few other notes on this...
1. Have you checked Razer or Gamestop on the internet? None of them had ANYTHING related to City of Heroes on their front pages... No adds, nothing related to this deal at all. At Gamestop if you specifically look for City of Heroes then it would show up... Nothing on Razer even after searched. This concerns me a little as this is supposed to attract new players and I only know of this because I already play the game...
2. This "exclusive" is probably for a fixed time period, meaning that probably other players could get it either through micro-transations (maybe even in a Time-Card pack from Gamespot, since they´re selling this one? write this one down BP) or veteran rewards...
So if you buy this and enjoy it for the next months or years (or whatever), don´t come whining later that you think it is unfair others got it too. I mean, people did choose to taste DP and Demons months before others could enjoy it but now they´re feeling ripped off because there´s some iffy new shines... Things that were not planned and so could not be announced before. Get a grip guys... -
Quote:Agreed, MMORPG.com, IGN.com and other stuff like that would go really far in promoting the game... Advertise it there and then let them make revies of the game. I mean, if you´re doing your work right (and I surelly think and HOPE you are) it is half way into the customers houses. But I completely agree with everything else you said, and feel very strongly that it needs to be repeated over and over until NCsoft gets it. This game needs to be advertised in the same way that all other successful MMOs advertise: with ads on gaming websites. WoW, EVE and LotRO all spam their adds all over sites like MMORPG.com. What rationalization does NCsoft have for not doing the same? After all, they're spending the money to make an expansion, yet the company seems to have zero interest in actually selling boxes and making a return on the investment. They advertised the hell out of Aion, and we all saw the massive hype machine that surrounded it as a result. Why not try the exact same tactic for CoX?

Quote:I want something like this too... Heck, I just happened to buy those 2 books that came out long ago through the internet and had them shipped to Brazil for about the same price I paid for them just to learn more! I mean, there´s a thread around here for this stuff, but Manti is being quite shy (and most likely busy anywhere else) in working it out... Although he said somewhere that there used to be somekind of "bible" for lore. Edit that and sell to us!Since it sort of got overshadowed some how by the "more comics" suggestion I want to repeat...
I want a LORE book of some sort that tells us lore information. Not Mechanics information... And this is different from paragonwiki because paragonwiki focuses on mechanics and has lore as a side thing more or less that just happened to be a part of other information gathered rather than focusing on it...
Thinking of it... 2? 6 years of gaming and developing and we have 2 books about it´s story. TWO!? There´s some book series that go around for like 10, 20 or even 50 (!) paper back books in that time! I mean, how many Animorphs there were? Speaking of it, K.A.Applegate is great on this stuff of series and I can see a niche that could be explored in here... Did you guys ever tried to talk with the people at Scholastic?
And again... Pen and paper RPG man. Really. That would be great for us geeks and nerds when we´re travelling or without electricity to play the Online game. Steve Jackson Games is my favorite on that and probably could be talked about doing this. I mean, they have GURPS Wild Cards; GURPS Horseclans; GURPS Myth and even GURPS Scarlet Pimpernel! It´s not like they´re doing something completely new to them... -
Quote:Correcting... No, that´s not because of lack of players but jerk haking fault...
Many EU players (me included) have GONE TO THE AMERICANS simply because theres more players.
Edit: Yeah, ok, post in the beggining of this freakish long thread... And tottaly off topic and derailing. But I just couldn´t control myself after reading it. Sorry. -
"Unique" is kind of the way to think you know... Some thing looks EXACTLY the same in all Zones.
AE buildings are good looking? Yes, they are. But they´re also the same, don´t matter in what zone you are... Atlas Park, RWZ or Grandville, it is the same freaking building!
Train Stations... I would love to feel that you are in a different zone as soon you come out. Maybe art exhibition in Founder Falls? Graffitti? Show posters? Vendors? Different ramps? Make it feel real.
Black Market... Always the same truck? I find ammusing it also looks like the truck in the back of Wentworths, but how is that supposed to be a "hidden" market? Come on Long-Bow, just blow up that damn truck! Wouldn´t be nice to see a Tent in one place? A Flea Market in another? A Junkyard? It is easily located in the map so there´s no excuse you won´t find it if it looked different...
The War Walls were already talked about before so...
Again, make us feel we are at different places.... Uniqueness is quite good. -
Quote:And there it is... VERY nice idea. I would pay for something like that as I always love to know more about the lore of what I´m playing (or reading for that matter), and with real art instead of computer image it would be just great. Remember me again why the heck haven´t they hired you yet? They can even do a "Create a Character's Look" contest - what DOES Galaxy Girl look like? Or Dauntless? How about the Dream Doctor? Or any of the other heroes/villains we hear about but never see? Talk about a chance to have your ideas made canon!
Then voila, we've got a comic-style "Who's Who" of the CoH-verse.

Edit: Of course, there would have to be something like "I give you the rights to this" to avoid any mess... -
Quote:See, it´s not that hard to give your own oppinion. :-) That´s what I´m looking for in answers... A more personal feeling than the general discuss made in paragonwiki.Ok ok I'll 'think out side the box' here on this thread.
Lets see I have 20+ toons on virtue so that would be my main server. Let see I started play on it back after beta becuase the RPers on the boards claimed it as the home of RP. Hmmm been playing on and off since then and whlie I've poked at other servers I always come back to Virtue becuase of its huge player base and most of that player base is RPers. Where else can a Level 4 get invited into a level 50 mission team just becuase of some random RP in Pocket D? Yeah I would say what I think about when I think about my server is Roleplayers lots and lots of rolepalyers.
Oh right that what paragon wiki says about it... damn not out side of box.
ok ok... i got it Costume contests yeah Totally no other server can you bump into so many CCs usually a few everyday and almost always with prizes in the millions of Inf (2,5,10 being the most common 3rd,2nd,1st prize) -
Quote:Yep, it is on par... But what I want is the players oppinion on their servers. :-)http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Servers
That pretty much is on par.
Thought at some point Champ went from being the community server to being the drama server. But all in all its on the mark. -
Howdy all!
I was just wondering what you guys think is the "definition" of your server? I mean, what is considered to be the most remarkable thing in your particular server?
As an example everyone knows Virtue is the RP majority server... What would make someone choose YOUR server when they first come to the game?
I myself joined Justice because a friend played there, but he has since left the game but I still stick to my fellow Justicers because of the great community it has, with people actually helping each other when we´re in need and such and being some of the most fun people around.
So, what makes your server different from the others? -
For what is worth I was on Justice and had SERIOUS lag problems there too...
But Virtue has been number one in server population ever since i17 went online... Guessing all the furries had to update their tails. lol -
And THAT should be seen on a billboard in game. LOL
