Now to the question, since I form alot of groups and task forces, brutes will not be "replacing" scrappers. Just like always it is first come first serve. So, in conclusion, scrappers will never be obsolete.

Bottom line is, if you absolutely loathe RP and cannot stand it, Virtue might not be the place for you. If you can tolerate it, or maybe even would like to give it a shot, hop on board! Virtue is pretty packed, which means you're bound to find -some- people who share your tastes in anything. There are also tons of events and a very wonderful community in this server.

Also, my rule of thumb: never judge a server by its cov-...err...forum community!
If you wanted to make the list complete on avoiding RP just add to it the person who types [[ ]] around every (and I mean every) peice of chat has a special little keyboard.

I will say though I have seen an uptick of RP lately.
  4. Transhade - Broadsword Dark Armor scrapper is mine. After that it is all gravy.

I have played my BS/DA from day one. I can say just with SOs the set performed very well. Properly slotted end usage was not a problem either.

I can spot heal a team, destroy a spawns chance to hit, slow them down Kill an Avs regen boost damage, boost recharge/dam/rec in whoever is nearby (upto however many can fit in the radius) in one power, Mutate a guy (emps rez is lame like the set) Because Rad is an awesome set. It mitigates the need for heals, does more and has a heal which is a great set mule.

Dark is just pure awesome with a great heal and murders a spawns tohit chance, just by doing its thing and adds damage to the whole team as opposed to 3 guys with fort.....

    FF....who needs healz?
Sonic...well its all dead now...who needs healz?
Cold/storm/traps very toolboxy, who needs healz?

So every set does more than Empathy but you noobs gravitate to it like youre playing Every other MMO.... Get real. Lamepathy is just that.

Now for those of you that challenge yourself with gimped toons, I applaud youre use of Empathy in that light......None of this is directed at you. Youre man/woman build is admired and should post your triumphs!!!
You exemplify the difference between all other ATs. Defenders are the only emo AT that bashes the powersets of its fellow defenders. You don't see emo scrappers or brutes or tankers saying they are jealous of another AT set becuase someone wanted them over you. Is it really the mind set of the person looking for the team or the powerset or just two different subsets of emo?
  9. Seeing two other Broad Sword Dark Armor scrappers on the server.

    Imperious TF

Speed is linked to the quality of players, their expeiernce with the TF and their builds being solid to take advantage of the TF.

There are several speed groups on Virtue and none that I have run with demanded any specific AT. I have seen 30 minute all melee and 30 minute all buff/debuff.

That is what I am taking about. Not the mutiple causes mentioned in the past, since they appeared to have fixed it with I17 only to break it once again.
  13. The rest of the defenders just refuse to admit Empathy is the best defender set out there. [That should stir the pot]

Let the guy vent some. I would hope they are aware of the lag. I know I bugged it but the canned email didn't leave me with much impresssion that they are aware. It came across more like a pyscho therapist. Tell me how the lag made you feel.. Could you describe the lag.... was the sun up in the sky when it happened...

Then again it is not like a red name has come on the boards and posted stating they were aware.

The one rule I have for full teams is we start when six people are ready. That way no one feels guilty if they need to train, sell or quick afk.

I don't think anyone who's ever teamed with my Kin could ever say "Yeah, Trafficker doesn't use many attacks" without bursting out laughing.

I've been on Green Machine empathy defenders. Let's say I'm on a Green Machine team...
    3 Fortitudes every 90 seconds
1 Adrenalin Boost every 90 Seconds
1 Clear Mind every 90 seconds
Let's say it's my turn to RA, so 2 RAs.
    That's 6.84 + 2.27 + 3.2 + 4.2 = 16.5 of every 90 seconds buffing. Round it up to 20.

On my Emp, 70 seconds out of every 90 I'm shooting stuff.
The rest of the team is doing the same thing. Our Empathy Defenders have more Regeneration than a a Regen Scrapper in Instant healing. Our Empathy Defenders have more Defense than a Super Reflexes Scrapper in Elude. We've got more Recovery than a guy with 16 Speed Boosts on him. We each get the same Recharge bonus as someone with a measly, pathetic 2 Speed Boosts... and 70 out of every 90 seconds were flattening foes. People call it a "Rolling Nuke" more than simply because we can use our Tier 9 attacks and recover endurance. People call it a rolling nuke because +4/x8 is too dull and easy and I'm not exaggerating.
While it sounds glorious, you don't account for the time going from group to group. In reality you may lose 2 of every 5 seconds traveling from group to group so out of the 70 seconds you might lose another 14 for instance round that up to 20 as well and out of 90 seconds you may be shooting for 50.
  19. Well tonight on Virtue, I had led a team with my Crab Spider Arbiter Jim. I went from 48 to 50. We even had two stalkers at times. When we were done one of the team members said that it was the best group they had in months. Everyone agreed.

    Silly lolstalkers.... Just kidding.

I was quite proud of it.

However, I noticed that even though my stalker is so far ahead of the standard curve in terms of AoE damage and survivablity it is not welcome within the City of Villians community.

I have pretty much zero luck getting on Pick up Group TFs (thankfully I am in Repeat Offenders and they accomodate anyone for anything, but this is a discussion outside that.). When the impossible does happen and I do get picked up for TFs, I have had the following experiences:

Had people quit the team because the leader invited a stalker.
Had people threaten to quit the team, until the leader boots me.
In nearly 100% of the time People will say in Team for me to read it: "A stalker?, ugh Stalker. Oh boy Stalker etc"

I have to come to the conclusion that the stalker AT is simply not accepted as a positive addition to any team in City of Villians, and I can only see this growing worse come Going Rogue.

So what must be changed with the AT?
What addtions or subtractions can be done to the stalker AT to make them a welcome part of the City of game as a whole, instead of something people point at and use to comfort themselves and say "at least I am not him!"

I really have no idea. I was quite impressed with my Spines/Ninjitsu's performance that I planned to make my first Praetorian a DB/Ninjitsu. But obviously this AT is lacking in some way that makes it the worst choice for teaming with.
The easiest fix is to start your own team so more people are exposed to you stalkerness.

I haven't encounterd the stalker hate you seem to have run across. But it wouldn't surprise me that there are narrow minded people out there playing the game.

In Wow Preists that solely healed and didn't use the suite of abilities also were lazy.

All ATs should take their secondaries, slot them and use them.

And since it's +def, waiting until there's trouble to use it is just asking for critters to get a few lucky shots in under the wire, wasting the entire buff and making you use Resurrect.

I think you went a little too literal. There are many times when "holding" Fortitude is not a waste. Fortitude doesn't just light between mobs. When teams are pushing the envelope of what they can handle (fostered in part by the prensence of a defender), and it lights during mid pull of a room, depending upon who already has fortitude on and the number of mobs, it is better to hold it for a moment to see how the fight develops because there are several factors that go into each fight that a well timed fortitude can negate.
  23. I never plan out a character either. I pick powersets, a costume and a name and goto town. If I still like all three, then then I expect they will get to 50.

While they may have fixed something, they either:

1: Broke something causing horrendous lag on ITFs in particular. Seen it in Posi now too; or
2: "Found" a feature that was not working correctly and put in a "fix".

As a regular teammate of Psylenz I can attest that he's a good player. Knows the ins and outs of powers (especially defenders) better than most. In reading this thread I can almost guarantee that we're not getting the whole picture. But from what I can tell, it was a very chaotic team. Grav troller summoning Singy in the middle of a mob? /e facepalm. Ouch. Kin not healing? Could be a result of not enough accuracy in transfusion. Busy time buffing and siphoning? Sure, could be. What I haven't seen is if the Tank had taunt. That goes a long way in keeping "melee defenders" safe. My traps defender is always shadowing the tank. By the way, some tanks need a shower after those sewer runs...

Anyway, the majority of PuGs work for me. Some don't and you have to say your goodbyes and move on.
As an aside, there are many good players out there. It is important to bear in mind that being a good player is not a license to act like a fool. Bringing this whole little drama onto the boards screams temper tantrum and not any good play style. I have no doubt we have not seen the whole story, but I think we have seen enough to know, this really wasn't something worth posting a rant over.
