Heya guys.
Yup just got in a little while ago, after a bit of an annoying mixup with planes and delays, grr. Was almost ready to call it a night in Stockholm, but they managed to find me a seat on a plane back to London (doh). Ah well.
Got a free upgrade though, to get me on the plane
Anyway, this week.
Hmm.
Wednesday is hunters from 7pm, yes? So you better be there Dutch. If you need it dude, I can find you a timecard here in the UK and PM you the serial, or something, shrug. Then you can give me the serial from your card when it arrives, and I'll use that, so it should end up noone lost any moolaah
Thursday, I'm not sure if this 3vP thing is starting, but I know you guys are RPing anyway, so nothing much will happen there, I'm pretty sure. Maybe P and I will take out our little ones, we have some 20s that Blade has been levelling someone to join with, so we could do that. Or bring out our Ms Sunlight and Mr Moonshine, or whatever they were called. Might be Poker-ing anyway. Will see.
Friday is free for me, so far. Not sure if it's a good night though, Trig has his Goth nights on Fridays, so he might be AFK (not that he's had much chance to get on lately anyway), and Ashen has prolly filled up his social calendar too. Will be able to work things out over the week.
The weekend I'm keen to TF or something. Maybe we could run Dutch Barbarian, Skull Bender, Ashen, Red Earth, Miss Mindreader through Manticore? Skull doesn't need it, but Satisfaction got a load of XP last time we ran it while loads of people missed out, so I'd probably like to leave him out. Then again with 2 kineticists, I could bring Tech Tower (can't have DB catching up on Prestige that easily! Muahahaha!). Maybe we can plan for Sunday around 1pm UK? The last couple we have started at around 11am, and it's been a pain with people leaving for lunch randomly etc. Could start later/earlier if need be. I expect it to take around, hrm, 3hours? I dunno, maybe quicker
I might play Dark Bubble a bit more too, and Electrosity. Will see.
Catch yas in game tomorrow most likely. Well, today I suppose

this means paper missions (that every hero envys)
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't envy paper missions. Paper missions seem to me to be a cheap way out for the devs, and mean that players get cheap xp, without having to negotiate sometimes difficult zones to get to contacts, and the missions are frightfully simple and lack imagination. That's just my opinion, not having gotten overly far so far in villains. They are, to me, like having a contact who you need to get to anothe rlevel for, who continuously gives you 'defeat x of y' missions.
I've said it in other Hollows threads, but I do enjoy the zone. In fact, one of my SGmates Triggarin, who we met while moving some new toons through the hollows, had just started CoH after dinging a 40 villain. We basicaly smashed through the hollows, and he never said a bad thing about it, it seemed he enjoyed it as much as the rest of us do. Maybe it depends on the mindset of the player as to whether they really hate the zone.
Maybe it depends on your teammates, the people who you meet there, etc.
I've read that War Witch has gone through the hollows and Perez Park and removed/moved/added doors around the zones. Its on the US forums, someone might be kind enough to post a link, I'm not that person right now. She's removed mobs from outside doors and done a quick spruce up like that. She wasn't given oodles of time to do it like the other zones she was working on, so it was just a brief visit.

A bit far off for my taste
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree, can we move this forward a bit? Say to next Monday - 5th June?
I'll be at any raid that I'm in the right city for, so I'll be there, dropping decoys, have even picked up fly for the occasion. -
[ QUOTE ]
I didn't read the text on the trial well enough. It ended on may 10th.
Ah well, if anyone finds a website with free US Co* trial codes on it before the 24th let me know and I'll re-post what I had up here.

7-day Marvel CoV Promotion (US) -
Sorry you missed the TF, Ashen, it was a good one, a great team. Ended up only Satisfaction and Dutch Courage on the team at the end though. Red Earth and Miss Mindreader didn't manage to stick around the whole way, which was a pain
Dutch has mentioned he needs the Manticore TF on Dutch Barbarian too. I was thinking a plan could be to bring Dutch Barbarian, Red Earth, Miss Mindreader, Ashen, Skull Bender (or Tech Tower), and a couple of pick ups and run it again in a little while. I'm out for the next week or so (back next Monday night/Tuesday), might be on tonight for a bit, if I can get everything sorted in a workable time. Will see. Can discuss more if this could be a plan for next week sometime. I think it took us a couple of hours, with a couple of short breaks and taking down Lusca in the meanwhile, maybe a bit more. I'd expect another Saturday avo/Sunda morning thing if we do do it.
Anyway, apart from that, we need to discuss the Hunters a bit. They've been a bit neglected lately, due to differing reasons (like Dutch getting Fable), but the idea currently is having a Hunters evening once a week or something, so we can make sure we're around for a while to play them. Anyone got any days that are constantly bad? Thursdays won't work for most of us, Dutch and Ash are in the roleplaying group, and I've got PvP (till I get knocked out), or poker. Friday nights are notoriously bad, of course, and I think Mondays are pretty crud too.
Ok, enough of the yakkity yak.
Dutch, PM me your address dude, so I can send you your sketch.
Laters all. -
Oh, damn!
I've just realised this is going to be a Thursday 7pm thing. That doesn't work for me, I've previously committed myself to the 3vp (pvp) competition, which is also Thursday evenings.
Sigh. And Dutch Barbarian and Ashen and I were having big discussions about this last night too, sounded like it was going to be interesting.
Sorry all, but I'm going to have to pull out(at least until I get knocked out of the tournament, but no idea how long that will take).

What's even more unusual is that there's some factual parts hidden in there somewhere
I won't elaborate however lol
[/ QUOTE ]
You better not elaborate! lol, those kind of things should only be discussed when drunk, definitely not on these forums
I'm surprised you didn't manage to weasel Marmite and L&P in
It was a good attempt though BladeI'll see how many elements I can put into my bio... hmm. Jeremy Curtis? I'm trying to remember what I put in my bio of Tech, I think it was something like that. Maybe I can relate them somehow.
If ya's want, we could always roll up some Ascended toons instead and play them In Character
Oh, and J Dogg, sure, if you want your toons in the SG it shouldn't be a prob. We'll definitely steal that defender! We don't have any for our 14s toons, and an empathy would fit in well. Actually Sigh must be up near that level. I'll get Hot Pants to drag his sorry butt up, when Dutch next brings him on.
Catch yas in a few hours -

Thinking Assault soon, Repulsion Field, and the last few bubbles when they come up.
In retrospect I wish I'd taken assault instead of stimulant, but I was thinking of picking up Rez at 24... Now I don't know how soon I'll be picking it up.
Thanks for joining me in my strange ride through defenderdom, will see how it continues in the next episode
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow, has it already been almost 3 months since I did this? How time flies.
So after warming to Dark Bubble after this respec above, I got to 26, and picked up my new power: Force Bomb (I think? Something Bomb anyway), which I really didn't have a clue about, and really regretted doing. So DB went back on the back-burner, so to speak. I notice with amusement how I had already decided to pick up Repusion Field, and that is now the power that I really wish that I had taken in place of this bomb power, which I really don't like.
I dusted him off last night, he was around 26.8 and thought 'Ok lets see'. His enhancements were all 25s, so endurance was going to be a problem, I figured. Set to LFT and waited. Usually I'm more out there and active finding teams, but with people saying that people with LFT still never get teams, I thought I'd try it.
Picked up in a couple of minutes, joining 7 others. I still say it works!
Anyway, they screamed through a couple of missions, and Dark Bubble was doing really well, I thought. Keeping everyone (who kept close) bubbled, running big bubble and my two leadership powers (Man and Tac) and hover, and still throwing out Aid Others and occasional blasts too. Had a ball in fact. A couple of times teammates fell over and Vengeance was great for that. I stimulanted a couple of people who were held or awakened (but still think this will be the first power to go when I respec next).
Dinged 27, put another slot in both Maneuvers and Tactics, so they have 3 slots with defence buffs and tohit buffs (respectively), and a single end reduction each.
So I think I'm pretty happy with him right now. I know that the bomb is apparently great in PvP (until I7?), but right now I'm very not interested in that, so no biggie.
Hopefully I'll get him out a bit more. I tend to go 4 or so levels then get depressed at the state of my enhancements and stop for a while. Will see how it goes.
Catch yas all, and anyone on union around my level I do love a big team.

Weekends are good.
I've got that movie which we didn't see which was movied to the weekend, still not got an exact time yet, need to check movie sites first. So might be doing that for a little while.
I think getting you guys to 32 is a great idea. Maybe I can bring Satisfaction on tonight and help yas with that. Depends on what Puma is doing or wants to do too though.
Yup our 20s should be ready to roll sometime too. Ice Wish and Storm Kick haven't been out for a while now, when Red Cutman (your names are boringbtw) gets there we might pull them out more. But personally I'm happy just playing our higher ones, and then coming back to them later for our next push. That way the game doesn't get so stale as playing the same stuff over loads of characters. Shrug.
I've got -
Shrug: 13, looking forward to travel powerage.
Hot Pants: 15, good for helping 11s to 14 it appears.
Poweramp: 19, blappy goodness almost getting his cape.
Ice Wish: 20, fun, perma duo with Storm Kick.
Electrosity: 22, fun blaster, need to put more time into really.
S Dude: 25, controller (other SG) - You guys know who I mean.
Dark Bubble: 27 as of last night, almost fully SOd up on less than 900k inf, happy with that.
Satisfaction: 32, hmm wonder if he's SOd up.
<yet to be named>: <nada>, Claws/SR scrapper I intend to play 'In Character' with this lot, should be interesting.
And the 50s, and a villain.
Heh, so pretty well spread bunch really.
I'm up for most anything. Would be keen to do a 30-35ish TF this weekend, if we can swing it. Maybe Sunday? I don't remmeber when you're going to do your final push with your villain there Blade.
Anyway, I'll catch yas later this evening. If anyone has any ideas for what to do, give us a post about it -
I'll give it a go.
Scrapper. I think I could do a crazed psycho mauling thing better than I could do anything happy/good/justice-ish. Will try to come with a concept.
Sigh, I want to do claws, but the obvious wolverine remarks make me reluctant.
Gah, Claws it is, screw the public perception!
Super Reflexes I think. You can't be crazed and psycho without something like hasten+quickness for psuedo beserker rage.
Hmm, this could be interesting. -

For some reason she stopped giving me missions. Some people have said she only gives it to lvl 49's. Others have said she only gives it out when you have completed all other arcs.
I'm going to polish off the kronos arc then try again.
But in the mean time please shout me if it gets offered.
D
[/ QUOTE ]
You do need a free slot to actually start the story arc, so if you currently have the maximum arc number open then yeah, I'd imagine she wouldn't give you the arc.
The strange thing is you do say 'the last mission', as if you have already done the rest of the arc. Are you sure you've done the arc up to that point? If so then she definitely should give you the mission.
It almost sounds like you want the badge but not do the arc? Shrug, that's fine, but I wouldn't say it like you have if that is the case, because that would be a bug and should be reported and petitioned for a GM to help.

I'm extremely used to playing in a 'support' role. 2ndary heavy controllers, primary heavy tankers, the like.
For my Fire/Dark corrupter, I'm doing my best to be a damage beast. I am in a supergroup that is mostly /Dark corrupters, and so far we are usually in a team of 3 or more of us. Lots of healing, lots of tar patches (other people), Darkest Night (me), and loads of damage. I think we're currently mostly at level 14, so plenty of time to pick up the other powers that we really want.
I do believe almost everyone will be picking up Shadow Fall at 16. Then the stamina run to 22, then back on the interesting powers again. Grr I don't like the stamina 6-levels, bah. One has picked up Howling Twilight, but I don't think she's had a chance to use it yet
Shrug. -
I agree, Ice Tanks are quite nice, I have a little one around level 13ish that I play occasionally
And I do like my Battle Axe, heh.
My suggestion would be (wait for it...) Ice/Axe. Mace is generally considered unpopular for tanks, and I really don't think the actual look of the mace is anything great at all, especially if you play a 'Huge' tank. It might fit a medievil look slimish male model though.
Axe has pretty good damage, and some nice knock up/down too.
Good luck with whatever you go for -

I got Fable- The lost Chapters
Man, it's addictive
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah nice, I completely agree, I had a load of fun in that game. It pulled me off CoH for a while actually, no other game (including Oblivion - very meh) can say the same.
Not a bad night last night. I do enjoy running around as Tech. I mentioned to J Dogg about ED, so I think his 6-slotted damage has been changed to acc/end/rech or something now, heh.
Dogg if you're reading this, you should find out more info about it all. I really don't like ED. My main grief with it is that if you want to slot well when you are lower levels, you NEED to respec a lot of slots around again when you move into SOs, and that is just dumb, in my opinion. Bah. Example would be an Invuln's Resist Physical Damage. 6 slot it with resist damage DOs to be max useful, then when you get SOs 3 of those slots are pretty much redundant, and would be better used elsewhere now. Shrug. Take a look at the player questions section, maybe.
In other news, we are relatively quickly catching up to another 1.3million prestige. In short order I'd like to pick up a Supercomputer, to replace our ageing mainframe and databases, and to make the Mega Monitor that I created useful, and that will free up the extra control room that I made to hold the Mega Monitor until we can use it. When I created it (using a LOT of salvage), I didn't realise that I couldn't attach it to the Mainframe, grr. I might have a look tonight to see if I can sell the old stuff and afford the Supercomputer.
The base as a whole isn't really that useful though, heh, really only the teleporters and hospital. I'm hoping that we can upgrade to the next plot size in the near future. It does feel a little cramped... Shrug.
Anyway, anyone got plans for tonight? I was thinking of taking out our 28-32s, and cleaning them up a bit, if anyone is keen. We really need to work on the Hunters too a bit later, if you guys are keen to switch about 9.30+ish, could be a plan. Black Lace came on for a little while last night while I was chatting with J Dogg, she's almost 39nice. We have to move our little ones up to catch up to her I think
, then we can all play together again!
So give us a yell if anyone will be around. I should be home from 6.30ish.
Coolies. -

Bit annoying, I really like my epics, but make sense cause the villains don't have em.
Now, I just need to respec in Unstoppable before 40... (currently in at 49)
-
Go for it!
I have a little (lvl 10) Broadsword experience, and have found it a neat set so far, nice damage, if it is a little slow.
I don't know the set well enough to comment on the powers though.
For DA, I'd say the main one that my li'l Satisfaction could lose is Murky Cloud (Elements resist I believe). Some would say that Death Shroud isn't worth it, but I think it's great, loads of damage really after you Soul Drain (or Build Up in your case) over a load of mobs.
I haven't gotten Satisfaction out in a few days, so am having trouble remember the power names. Basically at 32 I run The first (smash/leth res) shield, death shroud, the hold resist one, the fear one, cloak of darkness. Hmm I wonder if I'm missing anything from that list, possibly. The self-heal power is awesome, and does a little damage too. I think that's in the armour set. Maybe it's the end-boost one that's in armour. One of them is DA the other is DM... Sorry I forget, they are both awesome anyway!
Good luck, I hope it works for ya
Shrug. -
I'm pretty sure at the 6 week mark (ie 4 weeks after the rent is technically due), the power and control goes off, and that's when you lose your functionality. And then another 4 weeks after that you are locked out.
I know that my base rent is due, we've had the 'you owe rent' pop up for a couple of weeks now at least, and I was still using our base teleporters just this morning, in fact.
I could be mistaken about when things happen, but it is something similar to what I have up there.
Shrug. -
I wish this was being held on test.
I'm not going to respec into a PvP build for this and ruin my PvE toon, but would happily do so on Test.
Besides the toggle dropping changes make test far more fun for tankers, you might even see some sign up.

From what i've seen, the buff's are linked to how rare the salvage is so the really rare stuff gives better buffs
[/ QUOTE ]
Then yes, you will see a lot of PO'd SG leaders and small SGs with empowerment stations from those kicked from SGs.
Personally I don't really care if they give me their salvage. It's good for the base, but we get loads anyway. As long as they are earning prestige and friendly fun folk, they can do what they want with it.
I know one of my SG fellow-leaders keeps creating stuff with his salvage, which is a bit of a pain sometimes if I'm trying to get something big that I've researched is more useful (rather than building stuff on a whim). But we've got quite a fair amount of tech bits even with his using his up.

One has to think why in the name of the Great Nerf Bat they didn't put this in as soon as they knew the costs of the full bases.
[/ QUOTE ]
More to the point, you have to wonder how some SG's are going to stop their members sponging all the salvage they earn on temporary buffs
<snip>
I can almost see this creating more internal VG issues than the 'you will play in SG mode at all times' atittude!
[/ QUOTE ]
Hmm good point.
One thing I'd like to see is making rare and interesting salvage obvious. I personally find it near impossible to tell, and a lot of it is needed for the bigger things.
Will temp buffs use up rare salvage? If it was obvious that something was extremely hard to get and very useful for the base, people would be more inclined to hand them over for processing into items, I think, especially if you give them a stack of random stuff that can be used in the buff generator.
The interesting thing is, if SGs kick players for using their salvage up... then those players will make their own SG bases, plonk in a buff machine, and happy scrappy. I mean that's part of the whole point, making bases useful for small SGs.
Shrug.
