    What Makes Evil!

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]

After reading the first part that you posted I like it. I'm left with a big question about the girl, what did the cop call her? Lil Lady was it? Yeah that's her. The question is just what is she? does she have multiple personalities or is she a victim of demonic possesion or something else alltogether? I will admit, the earlier passages where she was communicating with herself were a bit difficult to follow, but after a couple of them I realised they're more then just an internal monologue piece and I think it helps define the character a bit. I'm looking forward to reading the next part and posting my thoughts on it as well. Keep up the good work.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thank you for your kind words. Keep reading you'll figure out who/what she is. If I had just came out and told you it wouldn't be a very good story. The author needs to find something to keep the readers reading.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm sorry, that didn't read the way I meant it. What I meant for that to say was that by introducing a question, with out stating the question, you've created an almost subconsious need in my mind to continue read in the hopes of finding the answers the the questions that haven't been asked (Did that make sence?) Either way, it's good thing and something I like encountering in writing.

Hey Scooter, just finished the second part. I'll be honest, I'm not crazy about this part. Now before you think I'm being negative, let me explain. This part was a lot of explaintion. When taken in the context of the whole story, I'm fairly certain the general ammount of explaination won't seem so overwhelming. That asside, I like the back story for the character. That coupled with the disjointed nature of the writing helped me to relate with the character herself.

The length of the explative material asside, a very well written peice and I look forward to rereading in the context of the finished story (Translation: Hurry up and finish the story!!!)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wen I was writing this chapter. I kept asking myself is this too long. should I end it? I kept writing until the story had told it self. One of the hardest things I can think of for me to do is write a character that readers can identify with. Right now LL is scared of alot of things. She doesn't yet understand what happened to her. She is my protaganist, there alot of enemies she has faced, from the man at the FBSA to the Succubus in the cloak. However the antaganist is neither of these. How do you fight an enemy that is inside your head and can make you sleep at will? Keep in mind this is a Villians story. I think I have my work cut for me. You may not like the eventual outcome of this but my wish is that you understand it. Keep reading part three coming soon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's not that the piece was overly long, it was simply that it was about 80% explaination. LL wasn't doing something, she was remembering these things. In truth the length is fine. The information is fine. It's simply amount of explaination versus amount of story compared to total read. Like I said, when I read more of the story, I'm fairly certain the information presented in this piece will feel much less over whelming. Once agian, hurry up with the rest of the story!!!

P.S. Just in case you haven't realised it, I've got a twisted quirky sence of humor, so don't take anything I say personally

Torroes, I don't think anyone's jumping on you for doing anything wrong. Heck I think you handled it in the best way possible. I definately understand your circumstance and you've simply offered up options.

    Nothin' wrong with that.

I agree, I don't see a ton of people jumping up on this one, but also don't limit your choices more than you need to. Just because someone doesn't have a vehicle/ship design in their portfolio doesn't necessarily mean they can't draw one. I'm not known for drawing vehicles, but I'm currently working on several ship designs for a game.

Give them a shout and let them say 'no'.

    Just a thought.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I get what you're saying 8, I just figure if I'm going to directly approach an artist and inquire about a speccific commision piece I should have all my options availible to me. I don't particularly like the "Hey can you do this for me now, and I'll pay in a week" game. Sounds too much like Wimpy from Popeye. "I shall gladly pay you teusday for a hamburger today". Plus the other thing is that this would something different a standard "Draw this" commision. Since I don't aldready have a visual reference to hand the artist, there would be some development involved. Beleive me, if I had something I could hand them and say "I need two images of this from this angle and this angle" it would be different. But I'm a slave to my reality. Hey why are there wombats singing show toons around my bathtub?
  3. [ QUOTE ]
What server are you on? And roughly how much would you consider this project to be worth in terms of influence/infamy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

My mains (all villians) are on virtue. As for ammount, I was figuring somewhere in the neighborhood of 50mil.
  4. If I were in a situation to simply pay hard cash for the work, don't you think I would have said so? If I had the resources I would gladly have offered $300 for this project, but I don't. With my current budget the most I could offer would be $25. So, for design and development (because as I said in my original post, all I really have is a general description) how far would I get for $25? From what I've read in the commision listing it would get a laugh in the face.

I went through that listing Dark. I looked at a lot of artists. None of them appeared to be machinist artists, (if i missed one who is I appologize and would you point them out to me please?)

Now, since no one has posted a response indicatiing they are interested in working with me under the terms I previously posted I can pretty well guess that no one is interested. So what do I do? well, I'm gonna try and get $300, so I can actually offer it.

I'm not a fool or a cheap skate. I am truely willing to pay for effort relative to results, if the ability is availible to me. But since it is not, the only thing I can do is ask "Anyone interested in doing this (for free)?" I have done that, no one responded. So I move on to plan B, aquiring the financial resources to say (And not be lieing or bluffing) "I am in need of an artist for the following job [see detail] I am offering $300 for the compleation of this project to my satisifaction"

    Thanks for the help Dark.

    And Sin, learn to [censored]!

Hey Scooter. I'm going through and reading your story. I'm always big on giving feedback on someone's creative efforts. So if you don't mind:

  8. hey all. I'm looking for an artist to do a small project for me, I've outlined what the project is, below:

I need an artist who is good at drawing mechanicals and ships. I am need of an illustration for a large scale Longbow "Air Cruiser". Since there is nothing in-game quite comparable to this, I can't really supply a screen shot of it though I am looking around the internet for comparable images. I will need 2 images as outlined below:

image 1: a stand-along three-view image of the air-cruiser. (I'm not sure if three-view is proper term so I will describe what I'm looking for). I need an image that shows the air-cruiser from the front right.left with it angled downward so you can see the top side of it.

Image 2: this image's requirements are somewhat more flexible, as I intend to intigrate it into a another image. CHances are that this will need to be a ground level image looking up at the air-cruiser as it passes overhead.

    for an example of a finished product of something else that this is for, click here {be warned, this image is quite large.}
Basically replace the images of fergusson with images of the air-cruiser.

    general descriptions of the Air-cruiser:
Take a medium sized cruiser, add in a launch deck for Longbow chasers and eagles, and make the entire thing airborn. the main body of the air-cruiser is a double hull design. The outer side of the hulls are lined with alternating howitzer turrets and missile turrets. The primary control deck is situation between the two hulls and is easilly seen due to a large panoramic observation window. Situated on either side of the control deck is a launch deck used for launching Longbow Chasers and eagles.
That about covers the description. If you have any questions please post them.

Payment: I have several options of payment availible to me including trades of infamy/influence and/or rare salvage/recipes in game.
I am also working on what I hope will become a fan-based comic for city of heroes. So I can offer in-comic advertising and/or character cameos as payment.

Well, I guess that about covers everything. So if you're interested, or have anyquestions about it, please post them or drop me a line.
  9. here's one I ran into last night:

When you're on a timed mission, and you have 7 minutes left, don't bother PMing someone With the following:

    Hey wanna team?
    Level?
    122
    You mean 12?
    599
    I'm just clowning. It's 35
sure, I can ue the XP
Accepts team invite finds that the mission is in another zone, and I'm 1.6miles from the ferry and that there's 7 minutes left on the mission(It's a mayhem mission)
uh, if you guys don't get more time there's no way I can make it to the mission in time.
What's the problem? With teleport you can make it in 2-3 minutes, tops.
    I don't have teleport.
What? You didn't take teleport? You're an idiot

If I took video of every demo I've recorded, I'd probably have well over 100gb (of course I record just about everything).

    [/ QUOTE ]

heh, I've close to 100gbs of demo files that aren't video. What does that say about me?
  11. slightly out of theme with this post, but I think it'll pass none the less.

If there's a major lightning storm going on, don't get on an ITF and risk having 7 members of an 8 member team disconnect when you've just taken out all three Nictus and all that's left is to take down Romulus.
  12. [edit] Just expanding on what Zekarin said

another option is Demo Editing. Once you record a demo, you edit the Camera's POS and PYR sets to be anywhere you want it. It is a bit of a pain to do just on the fly so I would suggest getting a friend to stand where you want th camera, then use their toons POS and PYR data to set up the camera. The big thing this will allow you to do is change the elevation of the camera.
  13. Hey all, I'd like to make a video of CoH and I'm looking for a videographer to work with me on it. If you're interested in, drop me a line and we an talk about it.
  14. not nessicarially. She could have the third place while the other two stay where they are. I said Invasion was in the top 3. I didn't say it wasn't the third.
  15. Hey Dark, I finished checking out your other videos. Here are my thoughts on them:

Born of the Night: wow, this one actually makes me care about the midnighters story arcs. I just kinda breezed through them on my brute so I could get to Cimerora. Guess I need to go back and redo them now. CURSE YOU SAMURAIKO!

A Stitch in Time Trailer: Very well done video, Lots of really outstanding shots in it. Only thing I would point out is the last shot where the two versions of your character are facing off agianst one another. It took a moment, and I had to read the "more info" link on the video, to get what that was representing.

A stitch in Time: first panel of text is a bit fast. If you're not waiting for it, and ready to read it, you miss the last word or so. Very cool transisional scenes as you went down the time line, and then went back up it.
  16. yeah, I've run into that glitch in the turorial zones and the Hallows zone. Usally loging out then logging back in takes care of it, but still.

Okay Dark, got good news and bad news.

The Good news: I've gone through and watched several of your videos. All very impressive. I'll post my thoughts on them in a moment.

The Bad News: For some reason I can't view some of your videos. Probably some sort of bad width switch on my side or my verizon modem getting ready to melt down or something. I'll try to check 'em out later.

    [/ QUOTE ]

YouTube routinely says it can't find some of my videos. No idea why.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, it wasn't Youtube not finding the video it was my system not loading them. I even tried on your website and the videos wouldn't load, or even Download for that matter. I donno, like I said probably something on my end. That's what ya get when ya jury-rig 5 systems from practically 3 generations of hardware.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of all my videos, that one I look at as 'technically' great, storywise not so much, because of the music restrictions. If I could have used the music I *wanted* to use, it would have been very different.

Yeah, that's it exactly. I didn't want to stand here and tell you how to make a video. It'd be just a wee-bit pretentious of me I think.

  18. I think the thing that a lot of people are missing with regaurds to the purchasable add-ons, is that this game is a hobby. You choose to do it, you choose to play it. and I gotta be blunt with this one, $15 a month, ah hell let's just say $20 a month (assuming $15 for the month +the $5 for a jet pack every month) isn't a helluva lot to pay for a hobby. I also do table top wargames as a hobby. And I gotta tell ya, compared to $3 for 2oz of paint (Yes that $3 for 2oz!!!) is a helluva lot more then $20 a month. I've become fearful of ever trying to add up what I've spent on my armies.

So I guess what I'm getting to is asking "What do people have a problem with here?" it's $20 a month, I mean come on!

I am using Zloth's demo launcher to view the demos and Balshorr's editor to edit them. I can launch a demo from the list in client_demos with no problem. I can also edit any of those demos in the demo editor. I can save those demos with new names, as well, which is what I've been doing, in case I want to go back and make a different set of changes to the original. When I do a "save as" in the demo editor, it appears to create a new demo file. However, I can't launch that file with the demo launcher; it doesn't even appear in the list from client_demos. What am I doing wrong here?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've run into the little glitch a couple of times myself. For some reason I haven't figured out yet, when you have multiple demo open, and switching between (Using the costume switch wizrd for instance) and then go to save the file, The demo editor sometimes 'forgets' to put the .cohdemo extension in. so what you wind up with is demox. instead of demox.cohdemo. The file itself should show up in an explorer window. You just need to rename it to have a .cohdemo extension.
  25. one other thing of note, the Self destruct does NOT work with NPCs. Well at least with the NPCs of the Longbow Mech, the Malta Titan, The Nemesis Warhulk, the Vangaurd HVAS or the Nemesis model.
