  2. I'd have no problem with his bow having extra Acc for thematic reasons, but the fact that it does not care about 12 purples is disturbing.

    I have to admit I did not test how tough he was. Once I got owned three times in a row after popping 3-4 purples, I sort of got more interested in his accuracy than beating him. So I went purple popping and getting hit over and over again by his bow.

    Whenever I feel like beating him I'll head into melee to smack him around some. His sword did miss few times.

    Um... I have to agree with the other posters here. Chimera's accuracy appears to be auto-hit.

    I attempted to solo the elite boss version of him a couple days ago with my FF/Rad defender. Even with Personal Force Field, Dispersion Bubble, and 4 purple inspirations going, he never once missed a shot with his bow. I stood there for several minutes just to be sure.

    As it turned out, I had to call in help from a couple SG members to take him down. My build relies on defense, which seems to have no affect on Chimera.

    Seriously? I soloed the even-level EB version with my MA/SR not too long ago. Granted, the fight only lasted about 90 seconds, but he *never* hit me. I don't recall exactly, but if there was anything on top of my toggles, it was just some inspirations -- not Elude.

    He probably tried to take you down with his sword. Hit katana seems to work normally, its his bow that has 10000% accuracy.

    Managed to record 3 attempts. With 8,11,16 purples.
    Was beaten in 3 shots by his arrows. Not missed once.

    Now, I have no idea what to do with the demos, but at least I got them if needed.

    EDIT: they're abit wonky in position, but the point goes across. Also, the power icon display is not there so you cant really see all the purpled, but the part when I activated them is.
  5. Made some more testing.
    Popping 8 purples bought at a contact.

    If I got close enough for him to pull his Katana I was ok, the katana missed as much as I expected it to.

    However his Bow does not miss through 8 purples.

    Trying to make a demo record but never done it so...

  7. So I've been working on soloing EBs (even cons) and I come across Chimera.

    I pop 3 purples (+25% defense) and he owns me. He does not miss a shot.

    I proceed to pop 4 purples, same thing.

    At first I thought it was a bad streak, so I go again a few times with 4 purps and pay attention to him. He attacks and he hits me, no missing.

    I keep increasing the number of purples I munch till I reach 12 purples (12*25% = 300% defense cap iirc). And he still kills me without missing a shot.

    Is this working as intended? Or did I hit the worst streak in history.

    If its working as intended, and I wish to solo him, whats the best I can do? Pop oranges instead?

    Wow. I hate fire tanks in general (still sour from the i4 days when they made all my hereos obsolete ), but that's messed up.

    Can anyone pull this same comparison for all the other tanks and scrapps self heals?

    It's a bug. It'll be fixed.

    More specifically, Enhancements should only effect the things they are listed as effecting. Dual and Multi enhancements (such as Hami-O's) sometimes break that due to a flaw in our system. That flaw will be being closed in the not so distant future.

    Boo, come on!! After a year and a half I finally got a toon into Hami level range. Let me have some fun with loopholes!!

    P.S.: How are "soon(tm)" and "not so distant future"related? Any wild gueses?
  13. Next Patch: Def Debuff and Def Buffs consolidated into Defense Modifier enhancement, with 5/10/20 value.

    Base effectiveness of powers that debuff defense not changed to compensate.

    Debuffers of the world cringe.
  14. If the relationship between def buff/def debuff is similar to the end drain/end recovery(now combined into end mod). Then yes it is poosible to get a 33% def bonus on toggles (might not work on passives).

    However, keep in mind Ed will lock the value at around 60%.

    But having your main defense toggle with only 2 slots, and those slots giving you all the defense you can milk out of it, and a good chunk of end discount on top sounds interesting, if not broken.

    P.S. Just throwing theories here. Cant prove it I have no Enz on me at the moment.
  15. Def Buffs are 20%, Def Debufs are 33%

    In the Defender boards there have been a discussion about how Vengeance's recharge time can be lowered with Membranes (to hit buff/def buff/rech), even though Vengeance does not accept recharge enhancements.

    But since Veng does accept to hit, and def buffs, its taking Membranes and the numbers are also using the rech buff of the Hami-O to reduce the recharge time of the power. Sort of a loop hole.

    So my theory is:
    1) Whatever power you want to slot the Enzyme has another effect that allows it to be slotted, not the def buff/debuff apect.

    2) Since def buff/debuff are the same thing (like end mods and end drains), its computing the debuff as a buff and giving you the 33% instead of the 20%.
  16. Every squishie AT believes they deserve some form of mezz protection. They each have their reasons, all arguments sound sound, but none will get it.

    I'd say give everyone an inherent mag 2 resistance to mezzes, give mobs a chance to crit on holds. This will make mezzes less binary. If you see a Mage sent a mess your way and you're ok, run away and walk it off.
  17. iirc, technically there is no such thing as Melee. Melee is just a ranged attack of 5 feet.

    Melee classes get some sort of 'resistance', by special cases, to the range debuff, otherwise they'll lose the 5 feet and be unable to attack. All the other ATs were left as is. So they lose their melee capabilities if hit by hurricane as the 5 feet range of melee drops to 0.

    Probably, making the range debuff floor at 5 would solve the problem, but...

  23. I found a way to justify it in my head (using rolling with the punch approach).
    Take Dodge: You avoid getting hit, you move out of the way of every attack, hence you don't get hurt. As you're weaker, you get tired so you get lousier dodging. But you still can attempt to dodge, but you only get halfway out of the attack, hence it hurts less. (Or course for this to work Def should go down while res goes up.)

    STATESMAN: Will the res increase be in jumps at 60-40-20, or will be a gradual scalling thing from 60(low res) to 20(max res)?
  24. Why not just get rid of 'hard' Melee, range and AoE defenses and make them more subjective? Removing M/R/AoE from the code and apply these types with if/else cases.
    Example:
    SR Focused Fighting would still be DEF vs. Melee as a description, but for in game mechanics it would be vs. all types IF they are melee variety.

    This would probably be a mess to code as Stateman has said changing how defense works would be a mess. But one of the claim for fame CoH had that it was a simpler kind of MMO for the casual player and everyday things seem to be getting more and more complicated.
  25. ok I'm wondering. Will all these additions of S/L and melee/range defenses to powers affect how many defenses were intended to work.

    I'm thinking of Toxic and Psy, two powers that were the least defended against. If a power had originally defenses for everything BUT Psy/Toxic, and then you add to it Melee and ranged, wouldn't Psy and Toxic be covered under the 'greater value is used' rule?
