  1. Swinging and ice gliding would be great. Maybe some alternate animations for super speed? It looks silly as is, to me.
  2. I still see groups form...for certain events. I was on a Jack team earlier (though only one team was present. We took him down easily) and fought Deathsurge last week.

But ones like Lusca? No, I never see anyone fight her due to being far too difficult for no reward outside of a badge.

Maybe clockwork (though with stamina being inherent their problems have ceased for me) but skulls/hellions?

But if you got your Warshade to 32 and beyond, you had your damage output tripled over what a Peacebringer could do.

So what happened to Warshades, specifically, to make them such awesome solo death machines? Enhanced difficulty settings. On heroic, you were stuck with one lieutenant and two minions per spawn against which to buff. Now, however, you can crank up the number of enemies you face, and how powerful they are.

Because of this, Warshades are rolling through solo missions at the resistance cap along side two and three pets that add 100-150 dps (if you can get three fluffies out consistently) to damage that is boosted by fully saturated mires. Dwarf Mire - with it's shortened recharge/duration and respectable damage - turns black dwarf into a heavy scrapper that can tank for the essences.

Peacebringers still solo as well as they ever did. Better, in fact. But the ability to increase spawn size was a game-changer for Solo Warshades.
About 43 or so before I just gave up. I think I gave up when Cimerora was released. I simply could not solo anything. To this day it remains my worst soloer ever.
  5. I'm sorta wondering what happened with Warshades. I had one years ago and tried for years to level it to 50. Busting it out when I knew I could get a team (basically Double XP weekends) and then shelving it because it was so incredibly painful to solo on. I couldn't solo my own mission on heroic without dying against a minion. I respecced around 4+ times, followed build advice, etc, and eventually I just gave up. On the contrary I had a PB that was far more fun to play.

So it's odd to me that I now hear PB's are so inferior to WS' when, back when I tried WS', they felt like probably the worst class I ever played in a game.
  6. Mmmm censorship.

I'm quite against any form of censorship including this, but I have a question.

I noticed (in the US, atleast) that newer songs have to be really censored for radio. Even words like God and references to drugs get censored. Yet the oldie rock station I listen to can play this song or Pink Floyds "Money" uncensored. Both contain coarse language. Why do old songs avoid censorship?

They're not fun to fight against at that level.

I have far more trouble with Praet PD and Resistance and Ghouls than I do with Clockwork or Hellions or Skulls. They are noticably more buffed up as pointed out with PPD having numerous attacks and hellions having about one.

PPD has been around since Mayhem missions got introduced! They've ALWAYS had glue grenades and nasty to-hit debuffs. Villains have been dealing with it for years.

It's not "balancing around IO's" it's just that PPD is a *very tough* enemy group.
Praetoria is noticably more difficult than older lowbie content. And it is indeed new.

Resistance and PPD are far far FAR more difficult than Hellions or Skulls. Heck, even Vahz, IMO.

Re that Sky-Raiders-in-the-tunnels mish, I hit Stealth, Sprint and ran through that like a maniac till I hit the end. I'm not that gullible, I know a bunch of suffering when I see it [usually] and that looked like plenty, all in one handy little package. I Just Said No.
Well as far as I'm concerned it shouldn't happen in any arc as they said they wouldn't do that.
  10. I have to wonder if new content is being designed around the idea of heroes being much more powerful than they used to due to IO's.

    I.E. balancing around IO's.

That or balancing around the idea everyones playing a scrapper or brute.

Guess it sure does. Though I can't underestimate 25 levels of difference.
  12. I tried a DP corruptor (not blaster, so YMMV) and it was possibly the weakest character I've ever played next to my old warshade. I could barely take on 3 minions of my level. Bosses were a no go even one on one. EB's? LOL! LT's were as difficult as +2 bosses on my other characters. I paired it with /traps so I did have some debuffs going.

I don't know if it was DP or traps on that character but wow was it sucky. I'm in the process of making a DP/? blaster now. Probably EM.
  13. I'd love it. I wanted to make a pulp comic sort of hero using DP but as usual with blasters, no secondaries click. Devices is the closest but still not what I want (and I never hear good things about it.)

I'd say in their eyes it'd be stealing. They didn't give the name to you.

I have to look at this from the companies view. If I was the lead developer I sure as hell wouldn't delete everyones names because they didn't play for a year or two. Because if I do that I am banking on never ever getting those people to resub. I am essentially acknowledging I fail at getting old customers back, which isn't something you want to fail at in this buisness. Is it worth losing any potential resubs from older gone players just to make a few people on virtue happy? Not really. And the names everyone seems to want that aren't attached to a global (Ninja, Light, Magician), they were probably snatched the first day of play. And once they are released they again will be snatched up within an hour of that release. Never to be released again.

There are a lot of old accounts out there that don't even have globals still; its a fairly safe bet that they're not going to be coming back for the most part.
And then people with 30 character slots run in and create level 1's they never play of characters with names like "Voltage" and "Anarchy" and in about 6 months we're at the same problem we are at now with few names.

If you want to wipe level 20's and under who haven't logged in in 4 years, go ahead. I don't think it will do much in the long run and is just a quick bandaid fix that won't do anything. If you want to erase the names of level 50's regardless of how long it's been, well, I can't get behind that. You'd be better off just banning them from the game because they're probably not coming back after you went and stole all their characters names because they didn't pay an upkeep.

I still see no-unique names being the best option. The only real problem people have with it is "But...but...I don't want someone to see my global at the end of my name, which they can turn off! Can't I just have that level 50's name?"

A booster pack that includes content outside of costumes and powers? No thank you, please. We do not need to go down that path.

This has all been addressed in the proposal Ascendant made, so it really serves no purpose to continue bringing it up. I realise not everyone reads every post on the thread though, so I've summarised it in the original post. You should take a look.
I still don't see what it solves. It also negatively impacts those who can't get on during that two week period/don't get the email for various reasons. What if they're over seas stationed in Afghanistan or what if their computer is broken? Too bad, so sad? And in the end what do we gain with this risk of potentially infuriating potential customers? A few names get freed which will instantly get taken up again and we're back at square one.

It's a bandaid to the problem, not a fix.
  19. I'll say the same thing I said in RP Virtue. Use the system that CO has. I know thats an unpopular opinion because they're a rival game, but really, I don't see a good alternative. I'd prefer being able to always have the name I want available with my global attached (which you can turn off in CO) over needing to look up an obscure reference to the intended name and add weird punctuation in it.

Name wipes are a temporary solution and won't get rid of names held by level 50's who left 4 years ago (unless you think we should wipe level 50's names. Which is such a bad idea it's stunning).

At best a name wipe, to me, would be wiping characters level 20 and under who have not logged on in three years. That will clear a little bit but won't solve the problem at all. Just delay it for a week untill all the good names are again snatched up by people reserving them.
  20. I think it's abit foolish to underestimate that game. It doesn't matter if it sucks or has flaws or is made by a bad developer. It's license alone will carry many people onto it despite how bad it may be. Do not underestimate the power of a very well known and popular license.

Even a game SOE utterly ruined is still around due to it's license.

With every issue release, some idiot posts about how the game is absolutely, positively going to shut down within a month because of some feature they personally dislike. There's nothing constructive about that.

Feedback is a good thing, but the people doing the stuff the OP is talking about aren't giving feedback. They are just making fools of themselves by insisting that the game is going to die because the slightest thing was changed. And most of the people doing that leave no room for discussion.

People have said the game was doomed because of everything from ED to inherent Fitness. So far they have all been proven wrong.
I'd say players have a problem diferentiating doom cryers like that from people with honest concerns and opinions on the state and progress of the game.

Unfortunately alot of players on the forums take ANY criticism towards the devs as an insult to their own mothers.
