  1. I think the SG and it's members should do what they wish and not listen to the cries and pleas of the forums.

Again, it is a case of "I want it NOW, and if I can't have it NOW, I'm going to RAAAAAAGE!!!"

Approaching things with the attitude of "If they don't give me exactly what I want, exactly WHEN I want it, they clearly don't care about me." is the wrong way to approach something like this.

i19 and the Incarnate system are barely 2 months old. We have ONE slot out of the TEN we are going to eventually get. Don't you think it's a little early to be assuming that you know exactly how the rest of it is going to work?

I'd like some solo options too, because I don't have time to run TFs all the time. The difference is, I'm being patient and doing what I can do when I have time to do it, instead of jumping to the immediate conclusion that I will NEVER have the option of doing it solo.

The devs are only human, just like the rest of us. Expecting them to do everything you want the very second you want it is asking too much of anyone, especially when the people you're asking it of are under constant fire from whatever group of people they failed to please this week. And there is always a group of people they have failed to please this week. That's the nature of a game that many people play, anything you do or don't do in designing it is going to piss someone off.

Power customization, side switching, inherent Fitness, rebalancing Defender Vigilance, fixng Blaster Defiance. All of those are things that, at some point, people were absolutely convinced would never happen. They were wrong. Chances are, the people who are absolutely convinced that solo Incarnate content will never happen are wrong as well.
It seems very unlikely to come any time soon.

But hey maybe it will, along with the blood of the black stream, avians, customizable granite armor, redone VEAT arcs, and all those other things they were "investigating".

Sorry. You can't keep my sub on hopes and wishes. If they said "We're working on something." I sure wouldn't complain. It's the whole "eh, maybe, but this IS an MMo, so...."

But hey, I'm sure the devs don't need to keep subs.

As I said. They weren't going to pick the most farmed TF and easiest to complete one right at the start.

Regen is a reaction secondary, so if you have a slow reaction, yeah, you're going to die. Though some cases makes it irrelevant...like AV fights...Regen has barely any resistances so they can be pretty easily two-shotted, it doesn't matter if it's a Stalker, a Scrapper would be done in just the same.

No, it doesn't determine anything. We've done this dance many times with the LRSF, STF and even the ITF, that line of thought has been proven wrong many many times.
It's not determing but the players themselves are "highly pressuring others" into other AT's, if you prefer.

Outside of starting your own TF, you'll have difficult luck getting in these things as non-support AT's or tanks In my experience.

    Teams recruiting
People looking for help with a mission

Step 2: Assuming you can't join someone else's during the wait, you should have a basic idea of what's going on activity-wise. This is when you start recruiting.

    Ways to recruit:
Broadcast that your team is LFM and PST for invite.
Move to an adjacent (in terms of level range) zone and broadcast again.
Recruit anyone who was LFT in broadcast.
Open the Find menu and look for anyone in a decent level range who is flagged as looking for any team or a mission team. Send them a polite tell asking if they'd like to join a team.

Is my Redside experience at 2PM EST (I work very early, so get off early too) a constant string of 8-man steamrollers? No, but I have yet to be unable to ring up three or four people for a decent start, and manage to keep recruiting between missions to replace losses and increase team size.

Sure, Redside might be dead, but I like it anyway.
My widow watched broadcast for an hour yesterday in Poakes and saw the following to get a basic idea of what was going on:

I see no real reason to spend extra dev resources and time to create a new mode for every taskforce because players are too lazy to unslot their level shift. If you can't be bothered, then deal with easy mode or don't get your rare.

OR... ask the Devs to give us an option when forming a TF. The normal version or "the Incarnate Version" so that we can choose our difficulty level when running it.
No thanks, please. I've already heard talk in game of people considering denying others from teams if they don't have a rare slotted. I don't want to be locked out of current content by players who feel it's now necessary or because all that is being run is the super special Incarnate version.

How about instead people just unslot the rare they have and run it like normal?
  10. I kinda dislike how they retconned alot of the incarnate lore. We went from guys who were imbued with the essence or being of past Gods, to a sentient well who likes to mess with peoples heads.
  11. So, I've never given a ton of play to defenders. I once got a Rad/rad to 33 but deleted it and I've never even really tried before for various reasons. I come to the defender forums to ask the defender gurus if there might be a defender combo I could possibly enjoy given my playstyle.

My playstyle: I like to have the option of soloing efficently.. I don't exclusively solo but I like to be able to know that if I can't find a team, I'll still be able to complete my own stuff and level alone. By efficently I mean being able to do it on base difficulty without dying numerous times to most enemies, and without taking like a half hour for a simple radio mission.

Most of my characters are scrappers, brutes, or tanks and I like to move at a decent pace. I don't like standing around setting things up or praying I won't die every spawn. I don't like having to manage tons of things constantly (mainly anchors in this case. I don't mind watching players status and casting buffs. I dislike having to recast debuffs 7 times a fight because my anchor keeps dying.)

I've tried the following somewhat relevant to this topic character choices.

Rad/rad defender: Tried this and eventually deleted because it just wasn't fun. I was alright solo but it was incredibly slow. I actually felt like my attacks did nothing at all and were like tossing wet noodles at enemies even when they were debuffed to the gills. On teams the constant managing of my anchors for my debuffs made me want to pull my hair out. I just couldn't enjoy the character in any aspect of play.

Cold/Ice defender: I don't remember alot of this character so I can't say why I deleted it.

Fire/storm corruptor: Well defenders don't have fire blast but this character was fun but shelved due to the incredible end suckage of the combo.

Grav/kin controller: I took this one to 50. I disliked being an SBot on teams but I felt useful on teams and not helpless solo. It was one of my best characters and I still enjoy it.

AR/Dark corruptor: I also enjoyed this character but lost some interest. The sets just seemed to mesh well together when I tried.

So yeah. I'm just sick ofplaying brutes, scrappers, and tanks and really want to try an AT like defender. But I don't want to constantly make a character, get to 20, hate it, delete, rinse and repeat. So I come to ask the defender players if they have any idea, given what I've said of my playstyle and preferences, if there are any defender power combos that would be fun to a player like me?
  12. I don't really understand why this hasn't happened yet. Is it necessary? No, but neither was power customization at all. It'd be nice to not have those flames at my feet with SS or for my mu PPP to match the rest of my elec abilities instead of standing out.

I don't see how allowing color for this would be all that difficult since ALOT of those powers are just copies of ones from other sets. I admit I'm not a dev, though.

I don't remember if they were called that, only that they gave +radiance (hence radiant) which you had to have or you'd be fighting an impossible battle as you'd have like 8 dread (meaning you'd probably walk in with 1/100th of your health or something.)

Sounds familiar to the incarnate TF's -4ing you if you don't have your special alpha slotted. It's called gear gating.

If you start a team, broadcast you are lfm, you normaly find some takers. and i will admit, sometime the same "shyness" is contagious. Sometime you do have to open the search window, and send tell to ppl, the same ppl that are in zone, and do see broadcast , but too shy to reply. Those same ppl will often reply, by a "sure" ill join. And note, this is an issue for both faction.

Last week end, i was rolling a lvl30ish corr, and filled my team in 5min, after 4 missions, noone dropped, and we were going strong.

All that to say, the issue is about Shyness and lazyness, or even maybe, lack of motivation, or fear of a pug team. Now if you have a Decent population with those issues, and that on both side (i see those issues both sides), but one side do have more population. The faction that have less population will feel the difference.

In My opinion, its about ppl tha have the guts to say, OK -censored- , I want to have fun, and even if some -censored- might curse me, and/or drop team, rage quit or whatever, i will take the risk , and form something.

It was my call, a long time ago, even tho, i totaly felt innadequate to lead anything, with a huge "handicap" beeing my poor english (and back then my lack of knowledge of the game)...

But if I look at it now, its a night and day experience.

Anyways, back to my point. Lets consider the lack of leadership , overall... Lets take Hami raids as a test case. There is a lot more HAmi raid, blue side, offcourse there is more population willing to raid, but there is also more "leaders", if one cant show up, hami is not cancelled, someone else take over. We cant say the same for red side, there is like 2 leader, for red hami, and 2 or 3 , maybe 4 other ppl that will risk to lead (and they actualy do good) to lead from time to time.

    conclusion :
    - Yes there is difference in population.
    - stepping forward and say I will lead, is a plague, on both sides
    - NO red side is not dead or empty.

Im just saying, please, pick other other words to describe red side.
    Do you prefer deceased?

Which would not mesh well with how CoX has been largely supportive of soloing, alting and sidekicking so far.

I do not think the devs would make such a mistake. But by the time something goes into open beta it is generally too late for major changes, so some feel compelled to voice their concerns now. I have done some of that too, in other threads.

    * A rather subjective number, between 2 and 10.
And this is my concern. This is what happened to LOTRO and it killed the game for alot of us there. You want to do the new content? Okay but first you need your radiant leggings....and your radiant helm...and your radiant gloves, boots, cape, chestpiece, shouldergaurds, and your first age weapon before you can do any of this new content. And all that stuff is going to require you to dedicate probably more time then it even took you to get to level cap, and you need to do it all teamed.

And I really don't want COH turning into that. I don't want to see I25 come out with this awesome cool Taskforce that advances the story and I read the stipulation that I need my very rare, 5 level shifts, my judgement slot, etc etc etc. I liked when an issue came and bam, we could start doing the content there. The worst it ever got was Cimerora being blocked by an arc you could knock out in a half hour which really isn't comparable to having to possibly run a dozen task forces.

Of course it might not happen this way but I really doubt the devs will shift everyone to 60 and then keep making content designed for 50 with no level shift so that everyone can take their now 60's and breeze through it with no challenge in 10 minutes. Would you design content that way? I wouldn't. Since it isn't actual leveling, I don't see how exemplaring would work with this and even if it did, then what is the point of the shift? I get to 60 and then can do nothing with it because everythings designed for 50?

Someones going to get screwed over by this. Either soloers and people who ignore this system or those who use the system itself. I got a feeling it'll be the former.

I also think I'm missing something. You're stating that you don't want group-only content to be gated by something that can only be obtained through grouping? Or trying to frame Apex/Tin Mage as a slippery slope example? Or is it just frustration that there group-only content designed at all?

I really don't get this aversion to having your concerns and criticisms challenged by other players. If it bugs you, don't post them, or ignore folks who don't agree with you.
I have no problem with you challenging them. I have problems with people latched to the devs buttocks who demand everyone wait three years before pointing out the games flaws.

My problem is the incarnate system is designed to make me want to play my 50's. Why do my 50's need to team? They are also obviously level advancement (Level 50+1=51). Why is my level progression being gated by taskforces?

There is 0 difference to me between this and requiring me to run the ITF 5 times to get to level 40.

    YMMV.

I haven't seen a single LRSF form since this started and I'm on one of the most populous servers.

I have seen a handful of STF's but every single on request support (don't play it) or that everyone have IO's (don't use them often). They wouldn't take my scrapper nor would they take that stalker.

I wasn't LFG I just got a Tell (Fortunata) asking if I wanted to join. Not being an expert at TF/SFs I couldn't even find the team half the time, so they hardly invited me because I was slotted out or knowledgable LOL.

We did however use Vengence to start the final fight. Oddly this is exactly the kind of fighting I dislike but everyone else seems to prefer lol. Perhaps they were all Slotted out and Incarnated out. I have about as good slotting as you i can get without purples.

Soloing at +0 level +4 characters seems to make shard drop rate decent (as opposed to non-existed below that rate).

Seems to me the simple solution is to add a recipie for X shards = Notice of the Well and let you build anything from base shards. That lets you skip the need for TFs although they will still be a big advantage.
The vengeance strategy is one of the oldest for the LRSF.

And it is entirely possible to get on a PUG that just meshes well. My first Apex resulted in a Master of when we weren't even trying, but that doesn't happen often.

And even if the LRSF is "easy" (it isn't), that doesn't change players perceptions that it is hard and needs a very specialized team. I can tell the team leader all day that 5 stalkers will work but he won't believe it.

What I can't accept is how ill-conceived it was to tell the entire playerbase to do the same task force over and over again.

Last night on Virtue, Independence Port had tremendous lag and appeared to be about to crash at least twice that I saw. Getting onto Stateman's ship was a slideshow. Telling your players to gather in the same zone every single day was a bad decision.

But even that's minor compared to the mind-numbing tedium of doing the same task force several times, on one character or with several. And once you've completed it on one character, that character is too powerful to find challenge in any other content in the game -- not that you can play any other high-level content, because most everyone else is grinding away at the WST.

Issue 19 came with new, challenging task forces that reinvigorated the high level game. Issue 19.5 is a step backwards, instructing the playerbase to re-consume old content for even less reward. The WST is a recipe for boredom, and it will only be played for as long as people can stand doing repetitive tasks. Every player will have their limit; I hit mine in one day.

I just wanted to give the devs my opinion. They made a misstep with this design. Be sure that, in Issue 20, you give us something interesting to do. Please.
I agree with you. How anyone can defend the devs releasing this with massive bugs that cause crashes is beyond me. We have test for a reason.

You are right in that the level is easier to see than say 'maxed out build', so I wouldn't be surprised if we are likely to find players who are screening by level shift for later groups as opposed to the screening in regards HamiOs and rare inventions. That, however, is a social problem, the only real way for the game to work around that would be to have no easy visual indicator of a level shift.

I must ask though, since I imagine it's just different perspective/communities. Do you never have people below level cap in your groups for LGTF or ITF?
Yes, though those are very easy TF's. STF/LRSF? Not so much. Theres also a difference between the leader allowing lower level players and the game not allowing it. How often do I have 45's in an Apex run? 0 because the devs don't allow it. The difference between a "master of rularuu badge requirement for a purple" and making content for the new level cap is that one is hyperbole and the other is quite real, possible, and backed by history itself.

I really don't get this adversion to concerns and criticism them playerbase has. If it bugs you, avoid the forums or liberally use the ignore feature on anyone who isn't having what the devs call fun.

There is a fair reason to get concerned about the purple patch becoming effective. Or the level shifts being more 'impactful', however, I'd suggest those are better concerns for when that happens, as opposed to when new power ups are introduced. While the past is no indicator for future performance, consider that HamiOs weren't the balance norm for the future. And when it came to pass that their power might actually cause a balance issue for content development, they weakened HamiOs instead of making them mandatory.
Hami-O's weren't level ups. Aside from removing the level shift, I'm not sure what they'd do.

The time to air ones concerns is before those concerns become reality.
