    Mag and hold

Quick question as i'm trying to better understand Mag and stacking holds. Does the Mag' last as long as the hold duration or does the mag have a limited life of its own in-which you can stack it?
  2. So, i've been debating whether I should slot the Absolute Amazement chance for tohitdebuff Proc in my Rad/Rad's Cosmic Burst.

My question is this; "Is it worth the 33% chance for -7.5% ToHitDebuff to slot it?" or am I better off slotting devastations chance to hold, Lady Grey negative damage proc?
  3. I wish PvP was more like PvE. I go into RV and none of my slows work, I can't heal myself and I understand that my speed is suppressed every time I get hit. It isn't fun.

What incentive as a PvE player do I have to get involved in PvP if PvP is slower than PvE and has different rules than PvE? I mean, PvPers tend to be obnoxious idiots, but I find myself much more frustrated with the difference between PvP and PvE rules than the players themselves.
  4. Blueside or Redside?

And yes, I LOVE the new merit and AE system the Devs have implemented. I hope that they focus and improve upon it as an alternative to infamy.
  5. Sounds like you had lots of fun. I'm a newb so I was never around for i12. Could you elaborate on the rules and what PvPing with i12 rules was like?
  6. Dear Gibson,

((Summarized Dev Response)) Yes, Yes you are. We hate your PvPs.

    Sincerely,

    Generic CoH Developer.
  7. ... I have nothing caustic or bitingly sarcastic to say.

This was an incredibly thoughtful and well delivered post (long as it was). I Really hope it gets read by a Dev. I suppose asking for this to be stickied won't do anything?

    Does AE need XP?

As much as I love my fellow carebear content cuddling PvE traditonalist masses. I really have to remind my fellow Orthodox PvEr comrades that we must not only blame the "farmers" for abusing the system.

Aside from Merit Rewards and AE Tickets, despite the Developers very vocal stance against Farming, ironicly enough they've only made it easier for people to farm. My fellow DOOMsayers we must persuade the Devs to stop shooting themselves in the foot and thus making us cry because we hate seeing them in pain!

The developers stummbled upon a tool to combat this diabolical menace we call Farmers; they call it Merit Rewards and AE Tickets. I believe by improving on Merit Rewards and AE tickets we can succesfully snuff-out the evil aggricultural capitalist swine that have purchased 6 accounts in comparison to the 1 account we average collectivists maintain.

Stand with me Brothers and Sisters of the status quo! The Developers are with us and they hear our voices!

"Stop shooting yourselves in the foot!"

P.s. Not intended means not intended. It doesn't mean not allowed. Unless we are engaging in double speak...are we?

In that case; "I believe we should allow players to play the game as they choose; So long as they play the game the way it was 'intended.' "

    Does AE need XP?

    [ QUOTE ]
The Ae is working as intended? no problems? What a load of crap. A vast majority, almost all of AE usage is for farming. Farming is an exploit. Not working as intended.

If the Devs removed 50% xp from all AE missions that aren't Devs Choice or HoF, it would completely cut out the farming. The only reason to play the AE would be for it's actual purpose...which is to make and play quality story arcs and missions with creative and thought out stories, charcters, and dialogue. If everyone quit playing AE because they could only use it as intended instead of farming the [censored] out of it, then that just makes the AE a complete failure. Not my problem.

If they leave the AE in game as is, IMO they are giving the green light to farmers and PLers. They are basicly saying let this game turn into a cesspool of farmers that will burn out and die, because we don't want our precious AE to be deemed a failure.

Bottom line is this game has changed for the worse since AE. Don't waste your breath telling me otherwise. I've been here for over four years and I know. This game makes be sick right now. If they want games like CO to crush CoX, they are setting up the perfect storm by letting this [censored] happen. Mark my words, stop the excessive farming, especially in Cap and Atlas, or this game will not survive. People that farm all day everyday burn out. They get tired of their repetative existance and they quit, they move on. If this game chases away it's true fan base for a bunch of noob farmers, they might make a killing right now, but will be dead a year from now.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree, get rid of XP from AE missions. The XP you would have earned however should be converted to infamy and AE tickets. Oh and raise the AE ticket cap for missions.

    I agree with this completely!

Who's brilliant idea was it to give stalkers hibernate anyway? :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't know but I for one love it!

I've died from hibernate maybe a handful of times, most however were in the same day thanks to a /Rad, however DutchRad is the only /Rad I see anymore, and he basically is duels only...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Rad is pretty dirty. I'm still very much a newb when it comes to PvP, I have 5 Procs and the rest of my Enhancements are all Yellow SOs and yet I still have a whole team of heroes chasing after me in Zone because Radiation Emission is just so incredibly devistating. I'm surprised it isn't more popular.

But jumping back on topic, Mace Mastery, without a doubt. Webcacoon+lingering radiation puts most Blasters and Defenders out of comission. You ground a Defender, Blaster they become Stalker,Brute and MM bait and often times than not once they're flight and jump fails them they're initial reaction is to run like hell.

The only reason I would take Leviathan would be for Hibernate and hibernate holds no allure for me what-so-ever. I can't begin to count how many heroes I've taken out because they rely too much on Hibernate to get them out of trouble and then I have to put them on ignore when they spam me with nasty PMs because I drop my toggles on them and camp them till hibernate wears off.

That's zone PvP though, Arena PvP I suppose it may have its advantages but honestly..I'm just going to take a temp phase If I really need to get away.

    "Hibernate'll Kill ya!"
  15. Who's brilliant idea was it to give stalkers hibernate anyway? :P
  16. Hibernate is a joke in Zone PvP. Drop Radiation Infection and Enervating Field on the Hibernoob, pop a few yellows and reds, park your heavy ontop of them. Do a little dance while you wait and Spike them once Hibernate ends.

    It's like a free kill.
  17. Oh, so I "was" in the right range. Where did you get 15% from?
  18. Is the protector bots Shield on you the player 15%? I've played around with it and the most I've gotten (Protector bot slotted with 2 defense) was 11.?%

I'm not at home so I can neither confirm or deny this.
  19. Some might say bots is a terrible secondary for poison, don't listen to them. Bots is great with any secondary; decent damage, excellent survivability and ranged.

Bots are all ranged so Noxious Gas can be skipped unless you really want it to keep those scrappers dumb enough to hop into the middle of your bots at bay.

Bots 10% defense shield pairs wonderfully with Weakens
    -tohit.

With PowerBoost in the scorpion set it makes no sense taking any other Patron power, especially with Poison as your secondary.

i just got the game yesterday (ive not played CoH since 2004 :O 'meta volta' 50 ar/dev blaster on victory, if anyone remembers me? :P) and decided to play a Necro/Poison MM

is this combo good for leveling? so far ive not been having problems, cos my pet can solo stuff while i heal it with Akaloid, but i noticed neither necro or poison have any AoE abilities. is this gonna make leveling slow later on?

and for pvp, how does necro/poison do there? i noticed that the zombie henchmen only have a melee attack and don't run very fast... am i gonna have problems with people just running away from the minions or kiting them ? or does poison have some abilities to slow people down? (like web grenade from devices)?

or perhaps bot/trap will be better? i cant really decide which to chose. they both seem fun.

    thanks

    [/ QUOTE ]

You'd "think" Necro would be an excellent pairing with Poison. As most of the minions are close combat. However being that the minions are extremely squishie (even with the pet defense and resistant enhancements) it falls short of expectations.

Zombie Horde being your most melee oriented pet, you most likely want to put Noxious Gas on one of them; however they are easily killed, I mean wet paper bag easy.

Grave Knights unless forced into Melee tend to stay at range when you throw Noxious Gas on them. This is fine for PvE as you can force them into Melee by using your Goto bind; however in PvP it's a pain in the [censored] as your enemy is constantly moving.

Also Necromancy tend to be slower than Ninjas, Thugs and even Robotics so they aren't really optimal for PvP, plus they don't have the best damage outup of the Primaries either and fall short in the ranged department. Zombies used to be fantastic in PvP as you could hit an enemy with Neurotic Breath, webnade them and they were practicly forced into a snail crawl so your minions could attack them easier. Since the Nerf to Slows in PvP and how travel supression works it makes playing a Necro/Pois all the more difficult.

If you are looking for a good marriage of Primary and Poison for PvP I'd go Thugs. Your Ranged pets are Ranged pets and your Melee Pet aside from rock throw Actually goes into Melee range quite easily and he isn't squishie! an excellent minion to place noxious gas on and send after an enemy.
  21. If the Devs want to get rid of a large majority of the farming in the game as well as PvP issues this can be done with one very effective pebble of an idea.

Create a PvP tailor. Allow players to use their 2nd build to tailor a PvP char with enhancements however they like. Here's the kicker... let the players do this for "FREE." That build will be labeled "pvp" so those enhancements will only work in Arena and PvP Zones.

With that said, the Devs really have absolutely no idea how to fix or improve PvP so i'm not sure where exactly you are coming from. I personally feel they should outsource the PvP problem to the GuildWars team.
  22. Those who care for content will play through the content. Those who don't, will not. I for one "hated" regular missions not because I don't care for the content; (I've played through the content, don't care for it.) but because it took me forever to slot my Character up with SOs.

AE fixed this for me with AE tickets. Now I do a few missions and I am able to slot 1 or 2 powers with SOs a mission, AWESOME!

Like-wise, the merit reward system for mission arcs needs to give more merits or give merits for every mission (merit points go up for teams) and give extra merits for completing a mission arch. People team, what the Devs fail to understand is that people don't always team through an entire Mission arch, some might team midway through someone elses arch.

If the Devs are so bent on getting people to play content, allow players to grab the same contacts as the team leader and everyone else on their team. Allow players to redue missions of a mission arch if someone on the team hasn't completed that mission.

Right now the merit reward system, rewards farming TFs and SFs. In fact everything the Devs have done so far seems to somehow "encourage" farming, ironicly enough.

I like the idea of merits however. It's a fantastic idea to reward players for playing content with "stuff" and it pulls us away from a monies system which is a broken system to begin with; because people like me will always manipulate a money system.

As a software programmer you learn never to blame the consumer for misusing a product. It is always the fault of the developer for not properly instructing, rewarding and enforcing the appropriate use for said product.

    Best with Pain

Well, if you want to get "technical" it's better on any other AT than any NPC.

If you want a solo build, you can risk not taking Pain Bringer, Enforced Moral and Conduit of Pain. If you are going to team, at least take Pain Bringer. Enforced Moral has such a short lifespan it's almost worth not taking at all.

What is the advantage of Painbringer on any pet anymore? No more recharge bonuses. The end recovery is of miniscule help generally. So we are looking at the minor +damage. Not a good reason to justify the set.

I however went Thugs/Pain. It was the absolute easiest MM I have ever made. I steamrolled everything on the hardest difficulty starting in my teens. There was so very little to do or worry about. It is my recommended combo for beginners to the AT.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you blind? The thing gives an AMAZING amount of regen when slotted correctly, and that damage bonus is very nice and stacks VERY well.

    Look closely at it again

    [/ QUOTE ]

Regen has never been a problem on my Assbot. And the damage seems somewhat negligible on minions. However, I play my bots/pain as a support toon in PvP and a Tanker Support on mission teams. Painbringer is sugar coated fudge filled Yesness all around. Oh, Painbringer on heavies is Insta-WTFOMGARGHHH! . <_<
