Quote:I also happen to know and have seen an Elec/Therm corr with PB that can floor a Regens recovery rate.A well played regen scrapper will NEVER lose a 1v1, to anything. You may experience a good deal of ties, given the regen's inconsistent damage output.
Yes, even the good ones. -
Quote:My endo is fine. I can spam Poison till the sun comes up. Poison doesn't have the endurance issues other MM secondaries may have to compete with. besides, MMs damage outup doesn't rely on their endurance it relies on their pets.i would think damage output would factor in as well. /poison could bring down those numbers a bit, but that mm's endo would drop faster then that regens health. then its just a matter of time. and really? phase? lol
P.s. If a MM is constantly spaming Poison they are doing something wrong. -
Quote:hmm, the running is easily taken care of; between Powerboost+Neurotoxic breath+Webcacoon+paralytic+Noxious Gas; you have no excuse not to be able to take down a scrapper that constantly runs away, especially in arena. Phase shifting...I wish pets phase shifted with you.How is your MM going to do anything to a melee that phases, MoG's and runs a lot?
My /poison can absolutely wreck things that try to fight it but most melee just run away a lot or phase.
If a Scrapper continously phase shifts on me throughout a 1v1 match I've won by default.
And the spectators will back me up on that. -

Move on, nothing to see here.Looking for a new hero 1v1 toon that I can pull out when some ***hat calls me out...already made a merc/dark villside and I'm looking for a hero now. Are regen scrappers any good at duels? I know colds supposedly wreck regens...MAYBE poison and thermal. Are they viable for 1v1 arena and fiteklubbin? Or should I just roll some sort of troller or defender that saps? (no thermals)

I need confirmation on when Hami Raids are. I know the days (Tues & Sunday) but i'm a bit confused on the time 6est 6pac?

Quote:I have been here since release for both COH and COV. Your sunnyside view of " we need to see the big picture and have faith" is lost on me . I've had faith for 5 ******* years only to see everything I enjoy playing systematically torn down and homogenized.I have stuck around for five ******* years having "faith". At the same time watching the forum loudmouths get their way.. AGAIN, AGAIN, and AGAIN.
The thing the devs don't realize is the selfsame players they penalize with EVERY nerf ( whether it be to an AT or an ACTIVITY) are the players that keep this game going by promoting community functions that a "casual" couldn't even begin to fathom organizing.
I am aveteran player and clearly not "casual". I am also a player in the minority because I min/max ANY build I create( not just dominators).I am in the minority as well because my voice of dissention and protest to the decisions on game mechanic are overridden by the "casual".My play style is considered" elitist" therefore my opinion or game play experience does not matter. The opinions and play experience of people with half the playtime logged as myself or my gaming friends is not relevant because we at one point enjoyed pvp, we DID BASE RAIDS, WE RAN EVERY TF//SF/TRIAL in this game so fast the casual player didn't know how the hell we did it or what the hell we did. What happened? Massive cries for " the game needs balance!!" from players that didnt have the cognitive ability to figure out a game or the time to invest in resaearching builds or encounters. What else happenned? ANyone with a brain gets nerfed and the encounters beyond the comprehension of the "casual" player get removed. Why do you all think the blatant activities in AE are allowed? Because the majority of players with a brain that gave a ratsass about fast lvls or gear quit doing the activities to acquire altogether. The devs had to throw all the newies something or suffer a loss. There arent alot of people around anymore that run game content for gain much less take the time to teach new players the score and whats needed for 200 merits in under 2.5 hours. So the devs threw the newies and "casuals" a bone with AE.
Sorry but I am not waiting around for the big picture AGAIN.I know many others that arent either. Nothing short of THE BIG RED BALL and server wide instanced pvp like they have in CO would keep me around. I am a small loss. Every person has a network. Every person in the network has a network. Eventually the new subs won't be able to keep up with the friends of the friend that unsubbed.Especially with new games on thehorizon.
You all can sit here and suggest about dom's til your blue in the face. One reason the revamp didn't work out as planned is because the earlier dominator buffs were completely overlooked in the initial buff formula.I mean c'mon people dom damage buffs on a team was already scaled to increase based on team number. OOOps they forgot about that and didnt factor it in at the initial buff release and subsequently took it out in a patch a few weeks later but labeled the change as a pvp change in patch notes. Another thing I find funny is not one person following the Castle fanclub that published damage tables even factored that modifier in.Why? Because most likely noone making tables was even aware that particular little mechanic existed.THEY are all new dom players or people that wanted to play a dom"maybe" and saw an opportunity to chime in and feel important in a game.
Sorry to be so longwinded. Sorry I don't agree with much posted on the boards anymore. Frosticus? Jade Dragon is never going to shaddup no matter how succintly you counter him//her. Why? Because every time you type he//she gets the wrong point because he//she hasn't played doms or any AT like you have. Therefore you need to REALLY back up when explaining so you two are both on the same page. No offense, Jade. In addition , if you type something not fathomable by experience then you'll get others like WeatherbyGood etc. etc. etc. showing up just to muddie the waters with nonensicle vituperative language for ***** and grins because EVERYONE has an opinion.Good luck. Have fun!
/rant over
P.S. That whole idea of have faith for a later explaination from the devs really chapped my ***.
I apologize. Carry on Dom forums and keep on doing whatever the hell it is you do in game now
Wait, doms damage modifier was originally scaled by the number of team members? That's ******* awesome, I want that back!
P.s. Congratulations on your red wing. -

I like the changes that were made. Permadoms weren't nerfed. You can still do significant damage while perma domed (besides Permadom should have always been about the Control not the damage.) The changes simply made Doms more viable for the average player.
Doms have become much more popular since the changes in my opinion, I've seen quite a few since. Whether this is in direct relation to the changes or not, who knows unless a poll is taken.
I rolled a dom after the changes. I love my dom and am currently working on Permaing her (she isn't gimped without perma either which makes the AT more attractive in my eyes).
I hate to say it.. but Castle made a great decision with this change. -
Quote:Experienced players should trump newbs like myself if not all the time, most of the time.Yeah Castle doesn't hate us. He's just in the unenviable position of making changes that will make an aspect of the game palatable for more people while not cheezing off a bunch of malcontents and ne'er-do-wells that have grown use to the 'old way'.
Let's face it, the 'old way' was very much blistering speed, quick reactions and absurdly overpowered builds. We still have the overpowered builds, but now they don't need Sonics for buffs, Emps for mez protection/+ToHit etc. Inventions have filled gaps and the global resists have stripped another layer of strategy as well.
The fact we had to gather in the Training Room for tournaments and tilts meant we worked at cross-purposes a lot of the time. Obviously the TR is meant for builds and testing first. We had to go there because server transfers didn't exist and it was the only level playing field. We all had our HOs/IOs/whatever there and practice/skill was the determining factor.
It did become clear, though, that advanced groups were just going to roll over new players (they still do by the way) but if they wanted PvP IOs and other rewards...they had to change stuff. Stripping away movement, buffer roles and a lot of the 'twitchy' nature of the combat may have been a large hammer to wield.
There are positives though. They include map selection, the PvP IOs, DR (yeah...it kinda stinks but things were silly before), caging suppression (still laugh at being Sonic Caged for 7-8 minutes, the good old days), less unresisteds and so on. It's a balancing act I guess. They need to bear in mind vets, newbies, base raiders (if those come online at all)...some of the radial settings for Arena help. A global "I12" setting would be super awesome, or at least one that grants Mez Protection/No Resists.
Wow, this got /PsyPunk in a hurry lol.
Anyway, we have what we have and at least we can remove Travel Suppression and Heal Decay in the Arena.
I don't like Arena to be honest. I prefer the impersonal, informal, casual PvP that is RV. -

Quote:I don't see where in that post Castle stated explicitly that he hated PvP. I see a developer that is trying to make most builds viable in PvP, yet competing with an engine and design left gutted by Craptic Studios (Played CO recently? lol).Mez Res? When I was in arena with my 2 accounts I looked and saw all 0's for Mez Res and Protection. Check it again, maybe something changed from last time you were on, or maybe I'm misunderstanding you.
But you are absolutely right, if they would implement a way to shut off the rest of their silly rules Arena would be a beatiful thing, and alot of PVPers would probably come back myself included.
Below is a collection of Questions written to Floyd "Castle" Grubb back in October of last year asking him about the new i13 PVP rules. I found this very interesting, check it out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Concerned Fan: "Why should you be rewarded when you have put no effort into something?
That's a Rule of Life, work for what you want, it's not just going to be handed to you."
Castle: "Any competent PVPer should be able to beat any "casual" player using identical characters more often than not. Your "work" results in better skills and situational knowledge in terms of PVP encounters. The fact that you also know how to build a character so that it performs better in PVP is another aspect of your "work" paying off.
These changes should mean that the disparity between an average player and a PVP spec'd hardcore Player is lower.
Exactly how easy do you want your kills to be, anyway?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Concerned Fan: "Because in high level PvP, where you have a ladder and rankings....no one's gonna bring an AR/Ice blaster.
Those kind of matches at the "high" end are "for real" as one would say. So you bring your A game, not your 'lol' build, your best."
Castle: "See this right here? THAT is what I am trying to fix. "For Real?" "LOLBuild?" Totally should not be the way things work. And, right now, that *is* how it works.
We won't get this perfect. But we definitely want to make it so that there are far fewer "lolbuilds" and a far greater variety of things that work in PVP"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Concerned Fan: "The general reaction I'm seeing is that there are varying degrees of dislike for these changes except for travel suppression. This is uniformly being singled out as a terrible change that will make this part of the game unappealing to both the current crowd and those that currently don't enter into PvP for whatever reasons they may have."
Castle: "You are correct. It is nearly unanimously hated.
It was NEVER our intention for bunny hopping to bypass the old suppression, nor is it our intention to let it bypass the new suppression, although this may be unpreventable at the moment. It was NEVER our intention that Speed Boost/Siphon Speed/etc. could move about unsuppressed; we just didn't have a method of preventing it prior to issue 6, and never wanted to revisit the issue without other changes after that.
Some form of movement suppression will be instigated into PVP. The points of discussion are how slow/fast it should allow movement to be and how it should affect Teleportation (I'm not happy with shutting it off completely, but have not found a better solution yet.)"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OMG can you believe this guy? Floyd "Castle" Grubb knows that everyone hates the new PVP system and clearly doesn't care?!?!? In fact he doesn't even address the fan's concerns about how everyone hates the new rules, he simply agrees with the fan then starts talking about travel supression. His liberal nonsense of "Everyone should have an equal chance at kills regardless of dedication and hard work of the hardcore pvper" floors me.
He obviously doesn't understand that alot of fans take PVP VERY seriously and doesn't understand the concept of an "LOLBuild" or "ForReal" because he is so out of touch with City of Heroes PVP culture.
I hate to say this about a developer but this idiot clearly has no business developing MMOs and should be fired!!!
Castle seems to understand that PvPers enjoy their competiton. However when it comes to the implementation of new rules for PvP that senior PvPers will tolerate and new PvPers can pickup and run with fairly quicky, they are at a loss.
I don't see why it's so difficult to implement simple changes to PvP (only implement Travel Suppression to melee attacks and that is if they hit. Travel suppression shouldn't be affected by ranged; fast-paced movement is what people enjoy in PvP. Keep heal decay but for personal heals only. Fix defense so that its percentages aren't trumped by acc and tohit. Get rid of mez suppression as it currently is. Yes, mez shouldn't last as long in PvP as it does in PvE, make a base hold duration for a fully slotted hold and allow that to be increased with set bonus holds, allow stackable mez but apply a mag decay so that BFs function as they should.) Bunch of other things that can be sighted, but i'm not a PvPer so my knowledge is limited. I'm sure there's a list of good ideas stickied somewhere... -
Quote:The +recharge has a 10% chance of going off every time you click the power. Doesn't work on KB ticks anymore.Don't want to thread-jack here but seems my question sorta links into perma dom.
I'm assuming Earth Assault's Tremor and Fissure both do knockdown. Therefore you can slot them with the Force Feedback: Chance for +Recharge. I have this in my Fire/Kin's Fissure and it works wonderfully, however, if I put it in Tremor and Fissure in an Earth dom and they both fire, would they stack?
And if that IO reliably Procs off every-other time it goes off (it has been for me) how much recharge would you need then? (Assume for every 2 Fissures / 2 Tremors or a cycle of Tremor->Fissure it goes off.) If it doesn't stack it would just reset the timer yes?
Boy do I want Fire/Earth right now! -
Quote:These are wise words. Why are you acting as though the Devs don't have tons of stuff already in the works? Be careful what you say, or you may just annoy the Devs!
The PvP community made the mistake of annoying the Devs; they got i13. Learn from this my friend and be much the wiser. -
Quote:You can switch, if you like. I'd say "can has your stuff?" but you'll be back for it in a week or two.okay so i just got my second lvl50... both of which are for pvp
1. lvl50 BS/Regen Scrapper
2. lvl50 DM/Enrgy Stalker
and I've been looking into new builds to do:
Mind/Thorn Dominator
Trick Arrow/Archer Defender(working on a team with at least one mate)
FM/Regen Scrapper
SS/Electric Brute
im happy for suggestions to my builds, especially my brute =P. ive already started on my trick arrow its lvl30(having second thoughts about this one =/) now and my dominator is lvl16.
also should i switch to Champions online?
ty for all the help
all my toons are on Freedom so come see me sometime -
Quote:I don't agree with the articles Title.QFT
I think its safe to say this one will make the game much more enjoyable for almost everyone. My first toon, who I still play regularly is a spines scrapper. Always envisioned him with with sharper, meaner looking spines instead of him being the banana-scrapper he is now. That was the first thing I looked for to change with power customization and had to stop myself from jumping around the office in joy once I saw the video of from comic-con. I can't wait to play the real version of my character once this feature is live!*
*Well...almost. Still need to change the color of his eye lasers, energy torrent, and pool power auras...but its a LOT closer than he was.
If Power customization is "Overcoming the Impossible." What will the article title read once they decide to finally tackle the issues with PvP? "Attempting the impossible?" -
Quote:You do know there is no official RP server, right? And while Virtue is an unofficial RP server there ARE people on Virtue (Many People I might add) That opt not to RP but tolerate and even entertain to an extent those that do.CoH does that, and I might as well just go play CO who is already using a stupid "mega-server" environment. It destroys the RP communites of Virtue and pennicle by doing that. If they do, I might as well go play another game that destroyed its RP community before launch, heck at least it looks better.
That would be the dumbest thing NC wound ever have done.
Full stop.
If you do decide to go to CO I won't bother asking you for your stuff. You'll be back in a month to reclaim it. That's a promise. -
Quote:No. Granite Armor will not be customizable. It currently exists outside of what we can access via the power system as it is an NPC with a pre-defined costume that your player is turned into.
You stated "it currently exists outside of what we can access...." Can we assume this may change come going rogue? -
The only MMO this game or any other MMO has to worry about is SWTOR.
Bioware aims for perfection and they've never disappointed. -
I quit Sims when I no longer needed to create UML diagrams for my cities reservoir systems and financial spreadsheets for my cities next 500 fiscal years.
Appreciate the troll, but you have got to do better than that.
PvP isn't challenging as it is now, It's a nuisance. So no, in my opinion PvP isn't fun other than the fact I can farm Players in my farm zones now. But then I wasn't around pre-i13 either. All I know is that this current iteration of PvP isn't fun.
If the intention of these changes was to make PvP accessable to the average player and new players (Like myself) Then why the disparity between PvP and PvE rules? Why implement PvP IOs when the "average" player doesn't PvP as much as the seasoned PvPer? (Giving PvPers PvP IOs is like giving a warm cookie and a glass of milk to a kid that just got sucker punched in the gutt. It doesn't help the pain and he's going to have cavities later.)
As an outside observer it just seems like the devs are being grossly counter-productive (you don't make PvP more attractive to the average player by making it completely alien to a system they are already familiar with). -
As a relatively new player, I'd personally like to see more PvPers in my farm zones.
I don't PvP competitively because it honestly isn't worth learning a new system. I don't know what DR is or why my slows don't work, quite frankly I don't care about the why, i'm quite simple like that. If PvP is going to be so drasticly different from my PvE experience... I'm not going to bother with it.
I'll just find another game if I want to try PvP. -
Are the servers still down? I've checked the Status Page and it says the servers are up. Tried turning off my firewall and I'm getting the same "the game client was unable to connect to the login server" message.

Thanks for the link Uun. Now are those numbers base? My experience is that the numbers diferentiate between tier1 through tier3 pets. I'd need to confirm this ICly. Also i'm not infront of my comp, but I'd like to see what affect PowerBoost (if any) has on NoxiousGasses percentages. Who knows, I may just respec back into Poison's poison trap if the numbers are adequate. -

Noxious Gas: You can infect one of your Henchmen, surrounding him with a Noxious Gas. All foes near the infected Henchmen will be overcome with the Noxious Gas. Their Defense, Accuracy, Damage and Damage resistance will all be reduced. Additionally, there is a chance than any affected humanoid enemy will become violently ill. Even the mightiest foe will stop dead in their tracks, and left helpless as he empties the contents of his stomach.
Level: 38
Range: 30
End: 22.75
Duration: 45 Seconds
Recharge: 300 seconds
This is it, this is why you take thugs and poison. Noxious Gas works when applied to a pet and creates a 30' gaseous cloud around the pet. It only lasts 45 seconds so the pet needs to be up close and personal with the target and stay there to get the biggest affect. Since the bruiser works best when he's in the middle of the action it creates the best synergy of the two powers. It may take a level or two to really get the hang of it down to maximize the effectiveness so give it a chance. Now let's look at the numbers to see why NG is such a big deal:
-10% ToHit to Target for 20 seconds
-20% Smashing Enhancement to Target for 20 seconds
-20% Lethal Enhancement to Target for 20 seconds
-20% Fire Enhancement to Target for 20 seconds
-20% Cold Enhancement to Target for 20 seconds
-20% Energy Enhancement to Target for 20 seconds
-20% negative_Energy Enhancement to Target for 20 seconds
-20% Toxic Enhancement to Target for 20 seconds
-20% Psionic Enhancement to Target for 20 seconds
-20% Defense to Target for 20 seconds
-30% Resistance(Smashing) to Target for 20 seconds
-30% Resistance(Lethal) to Target for 20 seconds
-30% Resistance(Fire) to Target for 20 seconds
-30% Resistance(Cold) to Target for 20 seconds
-30% Resistance(Energy) to Target for 20 seconds
-30% Resistance(negative_Energy) to Target for 20 seconds
-30% Resistance(Toxic) to Target for 20 seconds
-30% Resistance(Psionic) to Target for 20 seconds
Effect 1000 Held to Target for 4 seconds (0% chance) [Non-resistible]
As you can see NG debuffs across the board and it stacks with Envenom and Weaken. Go look again I'll wait. Now note there is a multiplier depending which tier pet you apply Noxious Gas. The numbers above are based on a tier 2 which has 1.00 multiplier. The tier 1 pets have a 0.75 multiplier. Your tier three bruiser has a 1.25 multiplier. Further reinforcing that Noxious Gas and the bruiser have the best synergy. Using the bruiser your debuffs are 12.5%, 25% & 37.5%.
Now it is crystal clear Envenom, Weaken and Noxious Gas are what you use to go big game hunting. By big game I mean AV's and Hero's. For PVP I was spotting 50's 10 levels in the arena and wiping the floor with them at level 40. Noxious Gas will also detoggle granite. It is just a nasty power. The best thing about it is you can make things puke. Puking is that mag 1000 four second hold. What is better than making a player or signature heroes like Valkyrie puke?
The best way to use NG is to get you bruiser up in front of everybody just out of awareness range of the target[s]. Send the bruiser in with goto aggressive. Then immediately infect him with NG before he gets out of your range of 30'. Let him get agg then debuff with envenom/weaken and attack.

Neither mids nor the in game detailed info tab have the exact numbers of noxious gases -def -res -tohit and +special values however it's hold is strong enough to hold AVs.
with a cool down of 2 minutes and 30s I sincerely doubt you'll be able to perma this power or be able to throw it on multiple pets. However, it's worth getting as much recharge on it as possible to keep it up as long as possible. Your best bet is to throw this on your tier3 perferably a melee oriented pet since it's RoE is extremely small. -
