Then despite what positron has said, I'd say this would be a nice QOL feature and it should be considered.
-
Was this said for pre or post IOs? Cause that's ridiculous if we are talking about entire IO sets. Keep in mind nothing like this was needed with SO's. This only become problematic when we have sets and set bonuses.
-
Currently we have the options to Place Enhancement in powers, Remove enhancement and place them in a trash bin and combine SO's.
I would like a fourth option and that is the ability to remove enhancements from your build and place them in your enhancement tray. This would make Respecing only necessary if you want to choose new powers or change how many enhancement slots you have in a power. Also this would keep you from losing enhancements that you would rather keep when replacing them.
This would also help to alleviate much headaches when you want to transfer one IO from build1 to build 2 without having to use a respec. -
Quote:First round of advice anyone should give you if you want to PvP is to move to Freedom.Greeting's Heroes and Villains.
I kinda want to get into PvP but it seems i have no idea about Zone PvP enough to live or kill. 1v1 I'm not to bad(in the Ring) and i would like to make 2 or 3 PvP Based toons(Hero Villain and soon[TM] GR).
Pro's and Con's:
-For each AT(all24)
-Power's

Quote:My brain hurt just reading this post.Which is the cornerstone of exactly why PvP sucks.
It ain't about how well a player does in PvP -> it's how good someone farms, which is totally 'GEE AY WHY'.
Welcome to the nature of pvp post-i12. It isn't about PvP, it's about farming people like the pinatas they are.
I tend to go to RV or warburg with a few friends and we just kinda stand in a circle wacking each other untill something drops.
Now, pinata's should talk less. Give me ur lootz. -
Quote:Is it worth fitting in one of those Hammi O's that buff Accuracy and all Mezzes? It's less accuracy than a 50 Acc IO, but it is still pretty decent. They are expensive, but not so much moreso than crafted IOs (at least the level 50 is not terrible, the 52's are 100million+).
Was something I've been looking at for my SpecOps and I was thinking the lich might be similar since he has so many different powers. The Universal Mez buff, might be a good one. It still leaves 5 slots for auras, set bonuses, etc.
Any thoughts?
Depends what you intend to do with the build. PvE, sure go for it. PvP I'd recommend slotting your lich for -tohit Acc HO's. -
Quote:I've been playing CoV on and off for the last 4yrs (only recently came back last year after a long break), and have never really been completely certain if my MM setup is actually any good. I spend most of my time soloing (after the rest of my gaming clan left for another MMO), so my setup has tried to be more geared towards and all round def/endurance/dmg setup.
I've changed it around a few times, and this is my current setup, I recently did based on some of the guides I read (not all that different from the last setup):

Any feedback would be appreciated
What direction are you trying to go in with this build? Will you be teaming much later on or will you be soloing almsot exclusively? Do you intend to include the pet aura procs to make your bots more survivable? Why are you sloting Shadow fall with defense IOs when it is better slotted with 1 or 2 defense and the rest resistance? Why are you slotting Dark servent for Immobo when you want the pet up as often as possible and it only has one immbo power? Why take Petrifying gaze when fearsome gaze has a much longer duration and can hold multiple enemies instead of just one? Why slot manuevers with more than two defense? Why are you slotting Electrical fences with endurance instead of immobo duration and damage?
Do you really use the personal attacks from bots primary? because honestly, that power choice would be better off used on something else.
Also, you are going to want to put two defense IOs in protector bots as it will offer you some great defense.
Dark Servant Powers:
Chill of the Night (Toggle: PBAoE, Minor DoT(Negative), Foe -To-Hit)
Darkest Night (Toggle: Ranged (Targeted AoE), Foe -DMG)
Twilight Grasp (Ranged, Foe -DMG, -To-Hit, Team Heal)
Tenebrous Tentacles (Ranged (Cone), Moderate DMG(Negative/Smash), Foe Immobilize, -To-Hit
Petrifying Gaze (Ranged, Foe Hold) -
Quote:Thanks for the advice Tokyo.
To be honest, since I just came back to the game, I will be spending most of my time solo for a while, but I want to be an asset to a team if I get the opportunity to join one.
Sounds like I want my cake and to eat it too, huh.
Anyways, I have created and played probably 6 different prim/sec combos already. I would say my favorite at the moment is necro/thermal.
However, I am concerned that since they are not ranged, will ranged AT's just blow me up without being able to touch them?
Am i right in thinking that? If so, I will probably end up going thugs.
Necromancy pets are extremely squishie in PvE. If you don't mind resummoning your pets constantly, they can be a lot of fun. I rarely use my Necro/Poison in PvE. If i'm teamed or solo I tend to use my Thugs/Dark Miasma or Bots/Pain. However, Necro/Dark Miasma, is an excellent PvE and PvP setup as you have enough control in your secondary to mitigate damage on your pets.
If you want a solo as well as team oriented primary I'd take Bots, thugs or Merc..here's why..they are ranged. And they won't get in the way of the melee ATs.
For a solo secondary Traps, storm, Dark Miasma, Pain, Therm(with the exception of storm these are all great team oriented secondaries). I would not recommend storm for team oriented play. There's just too much KB.
Secondary..Traps is a whole lot of fun on -
Who's brilliant idea was this? And why can't I turn this **** off?

Quote:I would not recommend the journey to 50 with a bots/ff. It's painfully boring.hey guys and girls, my wife will be joining me to play this game soon, she is NOT nor has she been a player of MMORPG's so it's going to be a bumpy learning experience for her, I explained to her the 5 different AT's you can play and she expressed interest in a MM, I was wondering if you guys would have any tips for a first time player of this game, as far as set up power sets etc, that she can read up on and maybe pick from. she'll be teaming with me most of the time so it should be fun, I can play most any AT in the game so she'll have either a brute to tank for her, or a corrupter to heal/buff/rez her.
thanks for any and all help.
If she is set on MM, I strongly Recommend Bots or Thugs as her primary and Traps or Dark Miasma as her secondary. These are very beginner friendly secondaries and primaries, excellent right out of the box.
Not only is Bots functional and the most novice friendly MM primary..it is the most aestheticly pleasing as well! Traps has really fun animations too and is highly functional, as his Dark Miasma. -
Quote:Mac, the Mods should really give you an official "PvP ambassador" title.Justice is not, nor has it at any time been, "the unofficial PvP server." That distinction went to Freedom before I13, and continues to do so. Infinity was the unofficial arena PvP server, but in the wake of I13 most of Infinity's players either left or transferred to Freedom.
But what he said is true. Justice and infinity have never been unofficial PvP servers that title has gone to freedom. if PvP, Farming, Grinding missions is your thing...Freedom is definitely the way to go.
For a more casual gaming experience with a little bit of everything (including furries..sorry, cat-girls came with the bundle.) head on over to Virtue.
Virtue has a very large and active community and tends to be less antagonistic than freedoms in my experience. -
Quote:I've got a young fire/rad corruptor. Planning to solo and team, no PvP. Should I wait until after I get Stamina before choosing the power Enervating Field? I don't want to run out of endurance and have Radiation Infection drop during combat.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks for any help!
I tend to take Stamina at lvl 20 Lingering rad at 22 and Enervating at lvl 24.
If you are running both enervating and RI you should have stamina..those two toggles are quite taxing on your endurance.
Take AM as soon as possible. I like to take it at 4 so I can slot it immedietly. -
Quote:....I mean that the whole design of MM's is pretty much going against the design of PvP. Your pets do the damage, yet nobody ever hangs around long enough for that...
......
Welcome back to the game after your long Hiatus! MMs can be extremely effective in PvP, played right.
You seem to want a team-oriented build with buffs and heals which (in my opinion) Is the best way to play a MM.
Lets hit the secondaries:
Pain Dimination: Is one of the newest secondaries. It's the villain version of EMP (although it really isn't) Great single target heals, with a moderate self-heal that also comes with a Regen aura that can make you and your pets almost indestructable. Excellent for teaming, and any Dom or Corr will love you if you throw Pain Bringer on them and WoP.
Pet Primaries: Bots should be your first consideration as they are extremely durable and completely ranged. Meaning they will stay within your regen aura radius as well as your WoP and aura self-heal. Second could be thugs.
Thermal: Same as corrs. great Debuff, Great heals, great shields.
Pet primary: I prefer thugs on Therm. but really it's up to you. Remember however, if you aren't strictly dueling, you are going to want a ranged AT in PvP.
Poison: This is more for dueling to be perfectly honest.
pet primary: Thugs/zombie/bots in that order.
So, what are you looking to play? -
Quote:Dear BaB's,I suppose it would seem backwards, if I considered a recurring monthly subscription to be free compared to a one time payment of $9.99
Super Booster Pack content does go through a more involved testing from our internal QA department specifically because that content doesn't go through the same training room pipeline. We do what we can to catch what we can, and then react as quickly as we can to fix what we missed. I can tell you that Ninja Run was a real nightmare to get integrated into the game. It has to layer on top of pretty much everything and work in conjunction with every combat mode and every power. It required a ton of animations (115+), an insane amount of sequencer moves 1,800+), and a lot of restructuring to many of the other existing player moves.
My only qualm with the booster pack was that it came with a travel power that was more than just aesthetic; it's an extremely useful power that allows the player to respec out of most of their travel powers without much harm to their build.
I don't like the idea of micro-transactions especially when it comes to in-game powers. never did, I feel my monthly fee should be enough.
Is there anyway of having a $19.99 version of the booster pack that comes with a month subscription, similar to the mac edition with the Valk set?
That felt like a HUGE deal and I didn't feel like I was just paying for powers.
Just throwing out a suggestion. -
I lost my virginity on the Tokyo Metro. It was completely unintentional.

Quote:I actually like that setup, ty.The very first thing I do when creating a new character is move that function to the ~ key in the Options window.
That way, Tab cycles through enemies, and ~ targets the closest one. Works like a charm.
Also... there isn't any possible way to target Enemy PC's only, is there?
I farm RV quite a bit and I've always had a problem toggling through NPCs to get to the Enemy PC's. -
Do yourself an the rest of the PvP community a flavor Ares and don't respond to any negative posts or trollers. You'll get a better response and more respect from players.
Trust me, I know a thing or two about trolls.
Great guide by the way and attempt to get people into PvP. While I'm no PvPer I may just transfer one of my Zone farmers to Freedom just to farm some PvPers.
I'm +Reping you for this thread. Wish you the best of luck. -
Quote:See I don't completely agree with that sentiment and I tend to sight Aspergers syndrome as an example of why self-awareness precedes awareness of others.Without getting into too much detail, evidence strongly suggests that awareness of others comes before self-awareness.
We first evolve to understand how others will react in order to understand how to interact with them in societies....
anywho..wow, talk about divergent topics.
What would the bind be to bind "target closest enemy." to my tab key? -
Quote:Then you're just getting into the semantic debate of "in what sense are we using the word." computer intelligence (Which is artificial for now and I personally believe will never reach true intelligence) is only reached through programing.
If you believe humans aren't even programmed in any sense of the word, then that statement is irrelevant. If you believe humans are programmed in some sense of the word, then the statement implies that the property of intelligence is the ability to transcend the laws of physics. In any case, the question generated a useful response: Tokyo claims not to believe human minds are programmed. In that case, the question becomes why do computers have to show an ability to transcend programming to be considered intelligent, when that requirement doesn't apply to humans.
Edited because I realized I countered my own argument.
Whether you believe computer intelligence (which is reached through programing) can ever reach human intelligence; we can argue back and forth.
My definition of intelligence is sentients (Self awareness). It's possible we have a disagreement on what intelligence is. -
Quote:I'm not sure what they do now, but originally I don't think it was a purchase. It was just an option. You created a character for PvP, and they were automatically max level. Their selection of rare skills was based on what you had unlocked in PvE, though.
To A_F, the idea of a "free" 50 came from the internal progression of my own post, which you quoted, and some of the other, earlier posters in this thread, who mentioned the idea.
If CoH should look to any game for inspiration, I'd strongly recommend looking at GuildWars Heroes Ascent, especially when remodeling Base Raids. (Hint to any dev that may be reading this)
However, I do like CoH's open zone PvP to random arenas.
But as previously stated about PvP Ios "They aren't Hurting PvP." -
Quote:You were right about the Necro personal attacks and Power Boost (Respeced my Nec and she's a beast now.) While defense shield WAS great paired with -tohit prei13, does it still hold up now? Keep in mind I don't care for Arena PvP, more of a zone farmer that PvPs on the casual.DO NOT TAKE POWER BOOST. Take the scorpian. You get the defense shield (great paired with your -tohit), FA, and Web caccoon. The thing with PB is that you get the same exact affect as if you had the defense shield.....and pb only last 10 seconds. I tested this alot...so trust me. That i'm one of the few rads that still arena. I would give you a copy of my build....just PM me.
My only concern is still the lack of resist and the popularity of Sonic Blasters that will chew right through PvP resist. -
Quote:You're probably refering to me and a couple of other people that use RV as a farm zone.well virtue specifically has pvp sg's and have your standard sgs that get together and pvp...
theres people that play in the zones -- so people still find it fun and spend their time doing it
Regardless, wish you the best of luck. May I make a request, however?
If PvPEC is going to run Arena events could you please make sure to do it with Travel Supression off, DR off and Heal Decay off?
This is in case the Developers are using the arena options for the purposes of data mining.
Although i'm not sure that they do.
best of luck. -
Quote:See, i'd disagree (but I understand it's a matter of personal experience). I am CONSTANTLY attempting to form teams with friends for ITF and LGTF and we attempt to beat our last time each time we run it.I wouldn't argue with this. Though I think the novelty would wear off within the first 3 months of any new TF.
My only objection has absolutely nothing to do with the idea, but with the playerbase - as I'd find it really irritating to have someone start a TF and not bother mentioning "oh, we're doing a challenge run." Hard to fix a person though. It'd be nice to have it very obvious, though, that you're going through a challenge before it starts just for those "Oh, didn't I tell you?" moments.
As for people forgetting to mention they are doing a challenge run... well, that's the nature of the pug. :P
If I'm puging an ITF together and i'm speed running, I broadcast that the team is speed running. -
Quote:Ah, I was thinking Cathedral of Pain was some sort of King of the hill style raid trial where you competed with multiple teams for the Item of Power. Not directed at tokyo... but naughty necroposter!
The trial itself is not a PVP trial. However, the IoP flagged your base as raidable by other players. (The trial, IIRC, also needed multiple teams.)
Didn't know this was necroed. Thanks for the explanation anyway. -
I got this idea from another MMO implementation of something similar as well as the Terminals in RV.
There are challenge levels you can set for yourself for TF/SFs.
Why not have Challenge plaques by TF/SF contacts such as Imperious? These plaques would show the Best weekly time and all time times, of teams that have completed these TFs under that particular challenge level.
This would bring some competitvness to PvE to those who enjoy competition. It would be completely optional of course.
