    What Arcana said.

Take a clue from the CoX PvP handbook and don't piss the Devs off. Just strap on your kneepads and tell them they can do no wrong.

I personally am glad that its just a NPC costume. It's too tron meets steampunk for my tastes.

Call me shallow and vain (I prefer playing villains) but my PCs allegience will most likely fall to whos threads my PCs look better in.

    Steam-Tron does nothing for me.

This of course proves that extending the free transfers is all part of an evil dev plan to blow up the Freedom server.
I'm telling you Free server transfer is a conspiracy to consolidate all the PvPers and farmers onto one server. Then they are going to shutdown that server, yank it from their server farm, drive 100 miles out of town, smash it to bits with a sledge hammer and chuck it into a canal.

I doubt the revenue from server transfers is that significant. Although free server transfers would be an invisible asset I still believe it would be more of an asset then the revenue taken in from paid transfers. Unfortunately, numbers talk.

If your doom post had any credibility, the devs would at least be telling you which servers will be shut down in advance. Sure, the first time they announced it they wanted to see which servers became highly populated, but they'd have the info they needed to choose by the second announcement.
I don't see why they just don't make free server transfers permanent. This would kill any speculation that the game were dying if people could transfer servers on a whim and it would make the CoH community even stronger by allowing anyone on any server to participate in any given servers community event.

The games mechanics and content aren't what keeps subscriptions its the developer relations and community that keeps most of us subscribed to this game.

Unfortunately the Devs do not agree with either of you (See PvP).

    Here's an idea

Most of these IOs are fairly inexpensive and I only used two of the cheapest purples for the 10% recharge. The 3 lotgs can easily be acquired through merits. You don't HAVE to go for perma dom, but trust me..it's loads of fun.

I'd really like to run some missions with your dom if you happen to be on Virtue Server. I've been itching to make a plant/earth dom ever since Earth assault came out and I have yet to see a fully IOed out Plant/EA build in action.

Since permadom isn't tied to damage now I thought I could shoot for a range DEF build or build for +DMG, though I'm starting to wonder if that's worth it or if I should just go for permadom anyway.

My only real goals are to have Carrion Creepers on perma and not run out of endurance. But if I can gain something significant through other bonuses, I'd be quite happy with that. The only purples I want to spring for are confuse, hold, and maybe immobilize (though I'd need to find 3 slots for that). I also like the powers I have now, except for SS and Stealth which are set mules. And don't want to leave anything underslotted, except for Strangler, Roots, and maybe Stone Spears. So any tips or advice on what direction I could go would be a big help.

These days it's largely become a non-issue because people have just stopped using the attack sets that worked well before that don't work as well now (really there aren't many, Ice Blast is the big one here, and maybe the Defender version of Psi) and have respec'd out of the attacks that aren't useful under the new rules.

The mez changes? I'd love to see something done about the mez system because in its current form it's pretty bad if you've got two competitive teams going at each other. In zone it's not too bad (ok, I get tagged by a random hold, and it's worn off by the time I land from my jump arc) unless the other team provides a coordinated follow-up to the mez, but in arena against another organized team it's pretty terrible. The only problem is that many people won't be satisfied until we get a full return to the old system, but there's another group of people that thinks the best solution is somewhere between the new and the old.

I think Cryptic learned the wrong lessons from City of Heroes. If you look at it, it started with a very "standard" MMOG development cycle. Initial release, issues with extra content, probably a lot of work involved in them. After the initial peak of suscribers, the numbers went down noticeably, but afterwards were pretty stable.

Enter City of Villains. Again, a large spike in sales and extra income, then the suscriptions stabilized. They did a ROI analysis and decided to put CoH/V on life support for a while and move on to greener pastures. But, to their surprise... The numbers stayed. Little new "woah!" content and noticeably less effort to support the game, but the suscriptions stayed.

So the equation was simple: Box release + skeleton crew = (Big bucks, quick ROI). Why bother making free content and work hard to put improvements in the game? Their previous experience told them it wasn't that important, after all.

In CO they're testing just how much they can get away with THAT. Then, since they already have the initial box release money (plus those that got suckered into the long suscriptions), why not throw Microtransactions into the mix? After all, what happens to the suscriber numbers in between box releases isn't very important, when you're spending very little money on maintaining it and the main investment/return is all around the boxed sets. And everyone's doing it anyway. Faster expansions? Hardly surprising, it's all about getting those shiny new boxes and looking at the money roll in.
Cryptic has mentioned before that they want to be in the business of making MMOs. Notice the plurality of that statement.

This is how I see it:

CO was Cryptic pandering to its old fan base gullible enough to follow (when Cryptic didn't get the turnout they expected, they fished CoH forums). Cryptic never had any intention of dedicating themselves solely to CO, it was the skeletal framework for their failed marvel MMO and they figured that they'd use it in order to accumulate a cash flow for their next big project, STO.

I'm surprised anyone is willing to throw cash at any new cryptic project.
