Quote:Other than the Devs finally caving into the idea of a market merger? I wouldn't hold my breath. Are there any plans, any possible solutions to the spinning out of control in game economy? Am I alone in thinking the markets and economy in the game need a fix? Maybe it is just my perception, but the price on items some of us want goes up and up like a rocket putting some things out of reach, seemingly forever. My veteran characters have several hundred million influence and infamy, and seem dirt poor. I can't play 10 hours a day to get the influ and merits I would need to build the character I would like, and I do not wish to be part of the problem, by purchasing influ from the web sites that sell "in game money" for real money. It appears to me the inevitable outcome is that one day I will log in, and everything in the market will cost the max (2 billion?). Is there any way to stop it? Please help. (fyi..I love the game that is why I feel so strongly about this)
I still like the idea of PvP merits since PvP tends to require the high-end builds in order for players to be competitive; players would gain merits for personal kills team kills and wins in arena matches. Allow players to designate one of their builds as PvP so that they are able purchase enhancement with PvP merits and can only use that build in arena and zones.
quite a few disagree with the proposal however and hell would have to freeze over for the devs to ever consider such a system.
Is it imperfect? sure. Is it exploitable? Definitely. But it would also be independent from the market and the rest of the game so exploitation of the system would be irrelevant; unless your argument is that the pvp merit system wouldn't reward skill..my counter to that argument would of course be, "Shut the f- up." -
Quote:Are you sure they are GMs teleporting AFK farmers around or just other players that are griefing AFK farmers?Hi all!
I am doubtful I'll get a dev response but I am curious to know if AFK PVP is against the rules (not just frowned upon.)
The reason I ask is GM's have been going into PVP Zones and teleporting the AFK farmers around to disrupt the practice. They are representatives of NC Soft so I can only come to the conclusion AFK IO farming is against the rules.
If it is not, why are GMs messing with players? It'd be nice to get a definitive answer on the matter from the developers. -
Quote:I both agree and disagree with this statement. I agree that forcing PvErs to PvP for "phat lutz" is a bad idea. Ecouraging PvErs to PvP with rewards isn't neccesarily a bad idea. No, we wouldn't. We would be pissed (and justifiably so), and endlessly complain that linking costumes to PvP is a really, really, really bad idea.
i13 was an attempt to make PvP more appealing to us "carebears", and we all know how well that went over. Attempts to force PvP, or even encourage PvP, among the PvE crowd are destined to fail. Those that want to PvP will do so; those that want nothing to do with it should not be enticed into it.
Trying to get people that don't want to PvP on their own to engage in it with the lure of phat lutz, or anything else, is just stupid.
For instance my first experience with PvP was GuildWars. The reason why I became competitive in PvP was because players recieved Special capes and Auras for winning guild battles and taking heroe's ascent, there were achievment rewards as well as "phat lutz" to have in competitive PvP.
This game doesn't have ANY rewards for competitive PvP and competitive PvP (for me) just isn't rewarding for its own sake. So I pick up a group in RV and farm people for PvP recipes because it's something I can do when i'm bored and the PvP drops fund my PvE builds. -
Why do people blame other players for the i13 changes? I'm pretty sure the devs are capable of screwing things up all on their own. There are plenty of examples of that to pull from.

Quote:Thank you for the notice Ghost. Always nice to know that the Devs are still pissing under our bridge.Base Raiding is currently on hold and not being actively worked on. We understand that this may disappoint some of you in the PvP community, but we wanted to tell it to you straight to minimize any confusion or false hope that Base Raiding would be addressed in this new iteration of the Cathedral of Pain.
Thanks,

Quote:... Good luck England and Germany. As for me, I'm writing a nasty letter to my president about our american team.... yes, I purposesly typed american in lowercase letters...Id like to take this opportunity to make myself unpopular on these boards by shouting.
'GO GO GHANA!!!'
No longer can the Americans taunt us brits that they were above us in the league stage because they just lost to GHANA 2-1 lmao. Great result for Ghana.
Lets hope England can follow Ghanas example tomorow and hopefully go for another 5-1 victory
p.s. I'll be looking to grief you in RV for the above statement...*mutters and sulks.* -
If Arachnos spent millions like the American tax payers do to train and pay arachnos athletes to compete in a world cup against a team who probably plays for food, ONLY TO LOSE to these underpaid under priveleged athletes of a third world country; what would recluse do?
signed sincerely,

Quote:Has the Praetorian Statesman ever shown any signs of Aplastic anaemia and or Fanconi's disease? If I understand Arcanaville's discussion of brain function, then the only way for Statesman to stave off eventual senseless senility is to deliberately ossify his thought processes - thus preserving his ability to respond to stimuli at the cost of being unable to form long term memories. Under those limitations, the phrase "long term relationship" loses much of its subjective meaning; any long term relationship would be experienced in the exact same way as a short term relationship. For the sake of convenience, one might as well remain chaste and distant; going without companionship for eternity is more tolerable if you can only remember the last five minutes of it.

Haven't taken the time to read every single post in this thread but have we explored the connection between Immortality and incest yet?

Dumple, if the Devs followed Arcana's suggestions we wouldn't have a merged market...The Devs make the end decisions. Arcana is one of many that have contributed to the game. Nothing more nothing less.

Quote:That's only "IF" you are in Closed Beta and agreed to the NDA. I've only been in two CBs and both times I have asked to be removed. It's no fun when you have to agree to not talk about closed Beta. Not being invited I can discuss it to my hearts content.
Well, seeing as the first rule of closed betas is usually, "Don't talk about Closed Beta," and the second rule is often, "Don't talk about Closed Beta," I have a wild guess why.
Fleeting, don't let your facts muddy this discussion up. -

Quote:There is no reason to send Mod08 nasty messages. He's one of the few Developers that has always been honest with the community and should be given the credibility he deserves.I think your on higher ground than I am after the reply I sent back to Mod8 today.
Let all the obedient players get in for all I care, your just narrowing your results by doing so... :shugs:

Quote:If the Devs need a workable market model I'd suggest taking a look at EVE. I'm in love with the market system and BrokerFee formula. What other games allow me to export market spreads with median day pricing directly to excel spreadsheets. <3You should see a game like DDO, where there are copper, silver, gold, and platinum pieces...and stuff sells for tens of thousands of platinum, if not more.
At low level, getting 100 copper pieces is great; at even the low-middle levels (around 6 or 7), you don't even stop for bags of silver.
