Quote:What other games are they playing with less drama? Mariokart? Sorry, just can't think of a MMO off the top of my head with a LACK of drama."In the past."
After the intial re-surge that came with CoV, Infinity has been on an ever downslide. This has been the server I started on, I brought my friends to, and I enjoyed for a very long time. But finding groups got harder, the SG/VG's got worse, and everyone I brought to the game left after getting bored solo-ing all the time or dealing with worse drama that any other game they played. I never see Infinity's population up enough to even be in the running for the top 5 places, so it would be nice to perhaps see it merged with another low pop server and have some new blood injected into it.
And insert tired response of I don't have trouble finding teams. You ask people or you have a friends list for a reason. There are global chat channels. People still occasionally say things in zones, like broadcast chat. Also, the past couple nights the game has been packed. Just because it's not Freedom's population, it's not dead. Is it the busiest? No, but it's not low-pop, comparatively speaking.
Infinity isn't the best server, but I really don't see the basis of the accusations, but I'd love for you to set me in my place. -
What's your attack chain/power picks? While bosses can be tough, they should be doable. And is this ANY boss, or you stuck on a certain faction?
I like using geometry. You know, running behind crates and such, make the boss run around while attacks and debuffs are recharging. I also don't bother with 6-7 lucks. I use combos--a couple reds, one or two lucks, an orange, etc. I've found combos work better then just one kind. -
1) All my heroes have to train at in Striga for level 50. I just like it there better.
2) My villains must level up to 50 in whatever zone they're in, no matter the trainer.
2) Even if I never write a bio, I have to have some sort of story or explanation for the character, why they exist, and their power combo.
2a) All concepts have to be followed as much as possible.
3) I do all the costume/aura/cape mission(s), even if I never use past the first costume slot.
4) If I can I like to get really, really close to the next level, then log off the character. That way, when I log back in, I get excited to play cause "ooh, level!" -
Well, a lot of the stronger internet personalities either went elsewhere or quit the game. And then the chatty folks seem to either chat in-game only, or just not here. Or people were taking breaks, and are back for today.
And Ukaserex, evidently you weren't around for the OLD, old Infinity forums. You know, like years ago when Infinity was known as the drama server and the high school server (as in, it was full of drama re: high school). I don't see what's wrong with personal chat now and again. It's certainly not hurting anyone--the threads are clearly marked and you can just look down the list for business sounding titles. The more current forums (before Mod12's/whoever is responsible reign) were certainly nothing to get worked up about. -
Quote:Man, I leave the game for a while and the whining gets lackadaisical. There are far better things to get worked up about. Are you having trouble reading too?
When did i ever "complain" about the server being "crowded"?
i started playing 2 months ago on Protector,(Red side) I played there for a week! It was Dead!
i looked on the forums about population, and saw Freedom and virtue had more players.
i chose Freedom!
Never have i ever felt the server was "Crowded" and never did i "complain" about it being "crowded"!
So please wipe the smudge from your reading glasses!!
Or the dev team got SO AWESOME while I was gone, this is the best you can come up with for complaints? -
*leaves out a traditional offering of d00mcakes*
Hey y'all. Long time, no see. -
I won't be leaving Infinity, but I'll probably be pushing a couple off to other servers--I need space, and I can't justify buying more slots. The main problem being all but one of my 50's are so dang useful. I could always get rid of my fail brute. Gods, he was a pain.
-
Well...if I'm home, I'd love to come along. Sign me up for team two, unknown character. Probably a corruptor.

Quote:It wasn't so much 'meh' (in my section of the room)--there was a lot of cheering and happiness when they announced the two new powersets, and I think it was more the silence of thinking rather than the silence of meh considering we all laughed and clapped once the guy shouted out "I love you!". And realizing "Oh, that's the end of the video, whoops", given it cut out with no real...indication.(I'll admit it - I was underwhelmed. The PAX East audience reaction was puzzling as well - not at all like their first exposure to Dual Pistols at HeroCon, which was met by much oooohing and ahhhing and thunderous applause & cheers. These guys just kinda sat there when it wrapped, I think we were all left with a big mouthful of Meh).
I know I watched it and mentally winced at the length of the animations. Coupled with the fact that I have no concept for kinetic melee anyways, I wasn't super excited about it. But I know a lot of people talked about it after the panel.
That being said, I'm actually excited for kinetic melee because yay more choices! I dislike melee toons because a lot of the choices are pretty much the same. This looks very different, which is exciting.
And I cannot WAIT for staves! They are one of two of my favorite weapons in real life. -
Quote:Eye no, rite, it's AWFUL.Don't you love it when your posts get dissected?
*Glares at Tiny Bolt*
Nah, just kidding. We need people to look at the raid from different view points so maybe we can find a way to make it better.
And alrighty. I really was just checking. I had the initial thought of willpower tanks as well, but I had rooted explained to me and such.
Sounds solid to me. As someone who has never ever even shown up at one. -
Quote:Er...but wouldn't that make Invuln just the same as Stone Armor, since Earth's Embrace is functionally the same as Dull Pain? Or did you mean Earth's Embrace and Rooted?EoE's cap resistance to Hami's damage type, so the main thing aside from the EoE's to focus on is regen. I've never been one of the number guys, but I have it on good advice that stone can reach higher hit point numbers, and with all the the regen buffs he'll have on him, that means higher amounts of hit points regenerated per second, which is key to taunting Hami. Earth's Embrace and Dull Pain go a long way towards maxing that hp. With all the -regen and -heal debuffs he'll have on him, squeezing out every last bit we can goes a long way.
I'm not really a tank person, but was just curious on the reasoning.
And I am free except for Tuesdays and Thursdays so far, just for scheduling purposes. -
-
Speaking as the storm/ice he is duoing tfs with...mutation is useful. We tend to each herd half the level and then meet in the middle, which works well, except when I get distracted and kill myself, and I use my inspirations for things like lucks and such, rather than making wakies.
Ok, edit, since he changed his build since the last tf we did. I still stand by my statement that mutation is useful, especially for high level tfs.
Also, what should he take instead? -
What the title says. Eat, drink, and be merry.
Also, wear green. Doooo eeeet. -
Sounds like fun. I'd prefer Friday, simply because Saturday is usually busier around that time, but I'd love to try it either way.
-
You're up early. I'll volunteer as back up lead, since my life will be totally devoid of anything and then I have to schedule time to breath without warning.

Another problem solved by those quirky guys (and gals) on that moody server!!!
So, can we suggest events for you to hold, Shuriken?
Nah, I'm just kidding, really, I am.
So, how do you qoute so many different things, anyway, IB? I can only get one in. Of course, my whole 5 posts is nothing compared to you, Oh zen master of the 12,881 forum posts.
Man, is my n00b showing?
Like magic. -
We HAVE events.
...if you want more, you really need to organize them yourself. Also, we have ingame stuff. But we don't really 'do' costume contests much and stuff. Unless, of course, you want to run one. >.>
And before the token person comes in claiming we're being unhelpful, I am part of tfs almost nightly. I think that counts as an event. There are raids every Sunday, right? Some people are trying to get Hami back up and running...
We're doing stuff. Just not as much as say, Freedom. Or Virtue. Which is fine by me. -
Vote for City of Heroes or City of Villains? Because they're being listed as two separate games...
-
I honestly don't remember much of the levels I got. I did bounce around an unholy amount, so I mostly got a level or two here or there.
But the ones I remember:
ice/dark corr, 18-25
fire/therm corr, 45?-47
sonic/traps corr, 32-33
elec/shield brute, 28-30 (yay two levels left to lightning rod!)
ice/fire blaster, 18-20
storm/dark def, 39?-40-something
And I did more work on lowbies...I tried to get most of the new rolls up to 10 or so. -
Speaking of events...time has been changed due to real life and stuff.
On behalf of the chat channel for evil people, Infernals, I'm going to head up a LRSF next Saturday on the 13th, I'm thinking about 4:02 pm EST (that's 1:02 pm for PST). Blah blah will be advertised in channel blah blah cookies blah blah it'll be fun!
Please let me know if you'd be interested in coming. Post here, or send me a tell in-game to either @Tiny Bolt or @Tinier Bolt.
Team Awesomesauce:
1. Tiny Bolt, on a corruptor of some flavor.
2. Eran Rist, on his l33t Ice/Fire Dom

Quote:The rest of the advice is solid, so I'm not adding anything to the ice/storm build help other than I would actually avoid the AoE immob unless you really like Tornado because while making sure they aren't getting knocked around means that Freezing Rain isn't knocking things on their butt, which is a huge mitagation in storm (think of doms and Ice Slick, freezing rain just also has a huge debuff attached).Going for Leviathan Mastery as an Ice/Storm Corr would work thematically, but Mace offers a defense toggle that would stack with Hurricane's -ToHit debuffs if you aren't the type to try and softcap your ranged defense while having a resistance toggle. Mace also has Web Envelope, an AoE immobilize which keeps enemies from being knocked around. I haven't used Leviathan Mastery, so I don't know if its AoE Immobilize has -Fly Protection. Mu Mastery has Power Sink, which is nice for those who use a lot of endurance, and I personally think that its hold looks cool. Soul Mastery lets you get Power Boost, which will make your debuffs and knockback INSANE for a few attacks.
And for Frost Breath vs Ice Storm...I take both, because I love AoE and cones. If I only had to pick one, I'd probably go with Ice Storm. It's a larger AoE and the animation isn't as long (I bunny hop like I'm on some fun substance when playing a stormy most of the time, so rooting really bothers me, but that's a personal playstyle thing). It's also highly useful as a 'oh, crud' power when you're trying to get some breathing room or gently encourage mobs to go one direction or another.
When I was leveling my ice/cold, I took Frost Breath first and put off Ice Storm for a long time...when I did that, I used Frost Breath as a ghetto Shiver (the cone slow from ice control set), rather than as an attack.
And as for the OP's question on how you control mobs low level before you get Freezing Ray? Snowstorm + ice blasts + ice storm/frost breath + eventually freezing rain= very slow mobs. If you know how to use knockback, Gale is actually pretty useful as well, just knock them against walls. Constantly. -
I figured. I know VS is pretty far down the list at anytime...it's not like many people take 'im.
-
Except it does a lot of tick damage. And looks far cooler. And is faaaar more powerful then the rest of the set. Yes, it has a long animation time, but it's recharge is short and has decent damage.
As for DP...haven't played the live version, but played it in beta and have been watching others play it on live...it's not the best set ever, but it's fun to play/watch and it isn't a terrible slouch in terms of damage. It does seem like it works better for 'fenders and corrs, and to be honest, I'm going to be a terrible person and say I'm ok with that. -
For the most part, I don't bother. There are a handful of toons I bother with IOs on...otherwise, I, uh, usually forget to even do new SOs. Honestly, I have a level 50 fire/rad controller who is usually my go-to TF toon and nobody notices that she has half red SOs unless I mention it. Terrible, right? I keep meaning to update her, but I'd rather just play the game.
I know how IOs work. I know how to make them, slot them, I know the set bonuses...I have a couple market toons that make money off of them, and those toons that do bother with them are either full up on set bonuses or full sets of commons. It just doesn't matter to me. It's a game, and when I'm tweaking out builds for every single character, to me, that's work. I have quite a lot of friends in-game who play the IO game, and they do incredible things with their tweaked out characters. Just not worth it for me, that's all.
