My main is also a Grav/FF but his APP is Energy. I have found the greatest thing about him was that I fully IOed him prior to ever attempting the iTrials. Now, in PFF he has something like 90% Def to Ranged... which helps during Lambda to get from one crate to another. Then once I locate a crate/tank, I get far enough away from it that mobs don't attack me, and start pinging away at the tank/crate while I tell the team I am at one, and should come to me to speed it up.
As for feeling more useful, unfortunately, for me, it comes down to IOs. I have a plethora of Procs slotted into the AoE Immob (including a Ragnarok: KD Proc... which is nice). So, I feel pretty helpful. Also, with the FF Bubbles now AoE, I can make sure everyone is buffed in a few simple button pushes.
Keyes still frustrates me a bit, but I think it has potential to be my most favorite iTrial in time. I just need to do it some more. So, I am unsure how to maximize my effectiveness there aside from plopping Singy in the middle of groups near terminals to blast them away.
As for folks suggesting that you wait to feel useful until T3 Destiny and Lore? Well, while that is true, it pretty much signalled the end of MY iTrial experience. Well, except for simply being on successful runs now to get the iMerits to unlock costume parts.
That is perhaps the worst 'advice' anyone could possibly give this player! She/he is taking this character who is a lvl 50 through the iTrials for a reason, probably because she/he likes it. And you are saying, hey, guess what, why don't you start at lvl 1 and make something 'viable' so that in a few months, you can start the iTrials all over again, YAY! No, not good 'advice' at all. -
Quote:I am... curious about the answer. But more so about certain other activities they are able to engage in.* Asking that Freakshow with the scythes for hands how he managed certain bathroom clean up activities... and getting an answer.

It does amuse me when folks say things like that... just assuming someone means a post-50. Like how it was implied that now since we have Clarion Destiny... PBs and WSs in Human Form have no need for mez protection. Really?

Just one comment: Your Salvage has pretty much zero to do with how well you do in the trial. It is based on participation ONLY to qualify you for the Salvage reward table. Beyond that, it is a (weighted) random system as far as I know.

I think it is clear (based on insinuations with re: to the Underground Trial that is coming) that he 'soloed' nothing. Hami is biding its time. Nothing more.

Truer words have yet to be spoken. Okay, so that is some MAJOR hyperbole there on my part, but I very much agree with his/her assessment.

Quote:You have that bass ackwards.I'll be shocked if they don't have almost exact copies of purple sets in the store. It's a total cash cow. People WILL pay for things with real money because they are lazy. You can buy +1 stuff in some F2P games stores. YOU START with +1 gear and people buy them, with points.
Keeping VIPs here, and increasing the value of the subscription seems to be their drive. "Just because it makes money" seems to not be as high on the list for this Dev team. Which is a step in the right direction. Also, it bears noting that our Dev team is looking at other games as much for inspiration as to learn what NOT to do. That example is firmly in the latter category. -
Thanks for saying that, Arcana, you nailed my issue exactly.

I don't see a contradiction there, per se, just trying to express my opinion concisely. As other posters have said, by enabling the purchase of IOs and other Dev imposed time sinks, there are fewer and fewer reason to actually play the game... which runs contrary to driving more subscriptions as well as causing more of a push toward post 50 content then there already is... making the low levels MORE barren and encouraging repetition of this cycle for newer players... which is what's wrong with some other MMOs.

Quote:It would bother me... but not for the reason I stated here. It would bug me that ANY of the non-Ascension pieces are tied to the Incarnate system at all... which is an entirely separate problem. If that were fixed, there would be no reason to sell them for cash, and thus I wouldn't have an issue at all.So, would you have a problem with them selling the new costume options that are purchaseable via Astral and Empyrean Merits as of this week? I do know at least a handful of people who would rather pay a few bucks to get the non-Incarnate pieces (the new chest emblems, emotes and trail auras, specifically) than run any trials.
I actually think that everything they just introduced this week, minus the two versions of Ascension Armor, will be available via microtransaction when CoHF/i21 go live.
But to answer your question... NO I don't think those should be available for real money, either.
Quote:That would bother you, even knowing that some people are perfectly willing to pay for it? -

Quote:The more I read through responses to this announcement, the more I agree with you. I mean people seriously thought, for realz, that the day Freedom launched, VIPs would lose up to 24 slots on certain servers! I just don't see how people can ignore reality, and probability, and assume ALL of the worst regarding this transition while we have THIS team of committed developers. That of course makes perfect sense which is why so many people apparently can't see it. ::sigh::
It defies... well... I would say logic, but that died on the 'net long ago. It defies SOMETHING, that's for sure. -
I am relatively certain we DO have Dev confirmation that things will NOT increase in price. Which means the total pack should still be purchasable, somehow, for no more than what it was originally sold for.
-
Because Paragon Points involve an outside of the game currency: actual money. I am NOT in support of being able to spend money to make your character fully Purpled, or what have you. Spend all the time and in-game resources you like. But spending real money? No thanks.

While I have worked on the Trials on a limited basis... I specifically avoided even THINKING about working on those because I knew they would offer more options in the future.

Quote:I hope not.It's a pretty simple question, I think.
When i21 hits, will we be able to buy the rewards that currently require Incarnate Merits to unlock?
I know there's some (myself included) that strongly dislike having things like emotes and the non-incarnate chest emblems locked away behind the trials. Allowing you to spend points to unlock these things seems like an obvious solution, but I'm not sure if they'll do it.
Any thoughts/ideas on this?
I don't think that real money should be able to be used to purchase items that are already available in-game. That being said, I HATE the fact that those non-Incarnate pieces are stowed behind Incarnate Content. SO, I think they should be taken OUT of that system. Likewise, I think that the Incarnate chest symbols should be unlocked by the acquisition of their associated Badges (via iXP). -
Quote:I am unsure how this relates to what I said. There's different currencies. Paragon Points are for spending in the store. With the purchase or subscription earning of Paragon Points, you will also be awarded Paragon Reward Tokens, to be spent on the new equivalent of the Vet Reward system.
Quote:You can pay money for the perks, if you want, but you can't buy the Vet badges, which will continue to be awarded for time subscribed. -
I will be going with the Polar Lights pets on my Grav/FF so that they vaguely resemble mini-Singularities. I have all my Grav powers colored a blue-cyan color already, so those pets should fit right in!
Now... to avoid the red one without gimping myself. -
