Quote:Yeah, I see your point about the PvP badges in general. Just to make it clear, my issue is not really with the method... but with the fact that acquiring said badge feels diminished because of the method used. That isn't to say I won't do it that way... unless I LOVED Recluse's Victory... there is NO WAY I would ever be able to get 250 Heavies in anything even close to an "intended" style of play. However there does come points where both sides aren't attacking each other, but instead helping the other side. I've seen it happen with Pillboxes, Shivans, Nukes, Heavies, and the Signature AVs/Heroes. That goes against the spirit of the badges, if not the letter of the rules for the badges. Heck I've even seen pvp kill farms.
On the note of Heroes helping Villains... I traded pillboxes with a Hero Tanker in order to help both of us move toward the capture badges. Of course, that was only AFTER I royally kicked his butt that he offered a "no fire" policy and that we assist each other.
Heh... not likely. I have gone about both methods, and will continue to use both. I will acquire Heavies as per intended and use them until they die when I am in RV with friends to get Pillboxes or help friends get the AV badges... and will go the log out method when I have a bit of time to kill and want some quicker progress. No way in heck could I stand to sit there and do EITHER method for very long in a solid stretch of time. -
Probably also to be placed at the end of Maria Jenkins' arc, I'd imagine.

Hmmm... the costumes are a bit... loud... and busy.
But, other than that, they do a LOT of things right. And almost everything about them is better than the previous re-design. For the most part, this appeases me (not that that was necessary for the Dev team).

Quote:I guess passive was the wrong word. I guess what I meant was, I am not actually playing the game using that method... in fact, I am using the fact that I am not IN the game to acquire an easier route to a reward.Well, it isn't exactly passive. Unless you can log out, log in, click on the heavy terminal, and repeat. Any methods to do that would involve some pretty hefty out of game macros and would be cheating.
But, I suppose the same issue was raised with Day Jobs... but at least those were INTENDED to be earned in that way.
Le sigh. -

I understand this probably makes me ethnically insensitive, but I simply did not know.
*looks up Gran Torino*
Hmmm, I vaguely recall this movie existing. No idea what line you'd be talking about though since I never saw it. -
She might be a very low-res model... but I like her as is too.

Vanden: AWESOME look there for ole Frosty! He really looks like a dude who could have been a hero... once.
Quote:I think you completely missed what I had intended by that comment. I guess what I meant by it doesn't "scream Valkyrie" was that something about it doesn't resonate with the character as strongly as some of the other re-designs for her I have seen done do. It looks... like some other character to me. I am not sure how to define that any better. Of course, saying that takes nothing away from the actual look of Tsumiju's design, which I like a lot. It just doesn't quite... look like Valkyrie.TsumijuZero's Valkyrie: I love this design. Sure, it doesn't scream "valkyrie," but then neither does Mynx scream a minx to me, nor Bastion either a citadel or bastion. Nor, for that manner, does the Statesman look like a statesman. At first the design looked a bit hodgepodge with the mismatched pieces, but I found reason to the distribution. About the only thing I'd swap out is the gloves and possibly boots. Either go with Justice gloves or outright swap to Alpha boots and gloves. These look pretty when used as tech.
Also, given the choice, I would give her the Justice gloves to match the boots. -

I... have never heard of this IP before this post. I think I have some Wiki-ing to do.

Quote:Quoted so that folks can read it without eyestrain.I think that it would be pretty neat to get +3 enhancer slots at Lv50 (for a total of +6), then another +3 after unlocking Alpha, and having a final +3 available for purchase through the Paragon Market.
That's +9 enhancer slots for an Alpha'd Lv50 customer, enough to sate even the greatest dreams of Kheldian avarice!
I have to raise a tiny kitty eyebrow at the mention of phrases like "game-breaking", "overpowered", and "segregation", as these (again!) sound like they are being bandied-about with regard to PvP.
The addition of enhancer slots helps *everyone*, not just l33t d3wdz with t3h ph4t l3wtz! If the Devs do not take time from other projects in order to "up the ante" with regard to the new enhancers, then people will be able to continue playing through regular and Incarnate content, yet will simply have a few extra enhancers as a Quality of Life (QoL) bonus.
There have always been "haves" and "have nots" in all walks of life and gaming, but this feature (at least) is *not* divisive, but available to everyone who chooses to pursue it. It is not as though you have to get 150 people together for a raid on The Lair of the Chromatic Dragon Matriarch in your +90 Armour of L33tn3ss and with a +75 Sword of T3h Ph4tn3ss! -

I do... those events, for any new characters... are not IN your past at all. As such, you can't (logically) go back to them.
That said, I really hope they have all of this figured out so badges are not inaccessible AND the Ouro arc makes sense to the new starting experience. -
Quote:Hmmm, didn't think of that, though it seems obvious.drone it (takes awhile if you do not have sb to make it walk across the map faster and depends on which side your on), if your red side the topmost heavy spawn will be the best because you can just take it over to the hero base and usually takes about 1-2 min for it to get there, for hero im not sure which heavy would be the best because ive only done this on a villain lol
Ewwww. Although efficient, that method seems... distasteful. But, I didn't ask for the method that feels least like cheating and isn't passive, did I? -
Quote:Which... only works for TWO powers.if they want to see how the powers work they should just roll the toon up and actually play it, thats what the tutorial zone is for, 0 xp is given except for the few small quests that are given and you cant leave till you finish the quest chain
Quote:a majority of sleep powers arent even given out till like the 20s, which by then it would just be easier to respec unless you really didnt like the toon as a whole and its not like its that much work to get to 20 in the first place even without PLing
Quote:all i see the suggestion as is letting you run around the tutorial while your still in the character creator so you could go back and repick powers, but that will prolly never happen because once the character is generated the devs have stated that to change powersets and/or ATs would be a very complicated task to do, which is why it was mentioned that powerset or AT respecs will probably never happen
the reasoning for this is sound, but its something that is extremely unlikely to happen if ever happening at all, and as mentioned its not very hard to reroll the toon if its before lvl 10, and even up to 20
Quote:also a note about the sleep and stuff, poeple do read the power descriptions, and it does say that sleeping foes are easily woken, held foes cannot act, ect
Also, it is significant to note that for someone just starting out, they lack the long-term perspective in some cases that we Veterans have about the game and how it works. Do all new players understand how easy it is to get to Level 20? I know when I was new, the journey from 1 to around 15 took forever (and each power selection was overwhelming since it was my first MMO and first forray into this game)! And seemed as if I would NEVER get to the lofty heights of 20 let alone, 50. -
I think that Tex's logic is sound... if it can be argued that it is useless to give respecs because you should just make the character over... then what is lost by allowing them to "fix" their current character?
Quote:Perhaps... but if you are truly new to the game (or perhaps MMOs as a whole) you may not have a clue as to how the powers WORK. Yes, it says Immobolize, or Hold or Stun... but you may not have a handle on what that all means or how it plays out in the real game world. Sleeps are an excellent example of this, they SOUND useful, until you see how they actually work.you can preview all the powers from within the character creator before even loading into the tutorial during the power customization screen
so that reason also doesnt hold water
Are you F-ing serious? You actually expect players who are new, possibly new to the entire genre of MMOs to install this game, install the game again (regardless of method) and then play around on servers that will count for nothing on their actual characters to experiment and learn about the game... and THEN go back and make sure they remember everything they just learned and make the character again? Man, if you want people to not play this game... wow. -

Re Ghost Falcon: I like the design... but, ummm, he looks a bit... portly.
Re Valkyrie: Dunno if that screams Valkyrie to me, Tsumiju... but it IS a very nice looking costume. I especially like the way the VG shield looks when it is "at rest." -
It's a horrible money-grubbing idea that seems too much like television. I also dislike the idea that you get some lame piece of "swag" as a result.
Everytime I have seen this type of in-game merchandising done, the time/money investment in the game has been too great, and the quality of the item has been sub-par. If both of those things are made a non-issue, and this game doesn't get any form of "commercials" added to it, or floating pop-up ads, or the like, I am fine. How the heck someone can satisfy those conditions, I am unsure... but that's kinda my point entirely.
Quote:I'm going to take a bit of a different tack here.
The problem I have with it isn't so much having to watch one commercial to get a shiny, it's the nature of the shiny--which is itself an advertisement.
Using an example cited towards the beginning of the thread, I don't want to see a bunch of characters running around with Swords of Omens, sporting Target t-shirts, drinking Coca-Cola, with their pet Sony robot following them, etc.
We are constantly bombarded with ads 24x7. I like that Paragon City is a reprieve away from it. I don't mind so much ads for their own products, or even a logo or two on the home screen, but the last thing I want is to be reminded of everyone trying to sell everything while actually in the game.
And yes, I'm aware of the in-game advertising that they toyed around with a while back. It wasn't so bad because it was always optional.
