While anagrams are by far not uncommon... that one seems a bit too far. But, it is as likely as anything.

I've already done both... but thanks anyway (hence the re- in front of both of those).

That's kinda funny considering that five years from now... Galaxy will STILL be (just now) getting rained on by Shivan meteors... and refugees will STILL be standing around in Atlas.

The new tutorial looks a bit better now, but later on, it will look just as dated. Not to mention that the tutorial is FAR too short to ever be considered Epic under any definition. (Keep in mind that I dislike strongly both of the Tutorials on Live at the moment. Praetoria's is better than either AND the Galaxy one IMO.)
  6. Way to derail, Scotty. Now I want to re-watch that movie and/or re-read the story.

  8. Re: the 'Tether'

What if Mender Siolos going back in time so far is the event that causes the "Coming Storm" in the first place? Maybe this race of beings who have attacked the Rikti and use Khelds for fuel, the Batallion, is like a race of creatures akin to the Langoliers? Perhaps the Batallion is tasked with the cosmic duty of cleaning up that which is broken in the universe... like a section of reality in which the cardinal laws of physics/time have been torn asunder?

Of course, this seems far too interesting to be the case. And, this would lend a bit more credence to the idea that the Dream Doctor is the Letter Writer since his experience with a cosmic entity like Rularuu (who seems to be a primal force like Galactus is in Marvel), might clue him in to the greater purpose of the Batallion as well as a way to stop them: Taking down the Menders (esp. Silos) so that they can stop meddling in time completely thus giving the Battallion no reason to "eat" our reality/time.
  9. The one problem with naming a character with Chinese "words" is that since Chinese is a tonal language, it depends on pronunciation, context and/or written character to be properly understood. SOOO, if you choose to use a name that is rendered with English characters using Pinyin, you will inevitably lose out on all of those... it will have no tone marker (unless you intend the name to look like this: Shi3 Tou2 Ma4), won't have any context and will almost always be pronounced by folks who have no idea how to say it correctly. As such, making it "real" is actually somewhat of a disadvantage in this situation, I would think.

But, if you want to pick a name, use the MandarinTools site and search for things in Pinyin without any tones and see what other meanings come up.

    For example:
Shao — is a word all by itself, and exists as a different meaning with all of the different tones in Chinese. It ranges from a surname, place name, a spoon/ladle to meaning "very little" (which is the meaning I am most familiar).

So, in other words, do glance down a list once you pick a word with a meaning you like (especially at words with different tones than the one you have chosen). Also, as Leo said, don't just smash two words together. Most all of the Chinese I know consists of strings of independent characters. In fact, the only words I know that are made up of two parts like that are words that have a particle attached (eg. to make something plural or past tense) or are approximations of English words (like when they smash a few random characters together to approximate the sound of the English word "whiskey"). Of course, now that I said that, someone who speaks fluent Chinese will come along and tell me how incredibly wrong I am.

Got to agree with you here! I would hate for them to pull a bad Scooby Doo ending on this arc that has lasted for literally YEARS of real time.

The Issue 11 video that you mentioned earlier talks of 11 means by which time travel is possible. Is it not possible that magic could be one of those methods? Or a mystical artifact? Both of which are things Midnighters just might have access to. Also, isn't the Dream Doctor connected to Rularuu in some way? One would think that would grant him access to a rather large amount of powers, eh?

    Quote:
The Dream Doctor is a Midnighter, or was one, anyway, and we know that the Midnight Club had no capacity for time travel until the Letter Writer gave them the crystal of ice and flame, and even then that can only go to Cimerora.
We have no way of knowing that that is the ONLY place it CAN go, merely that it is the only place it goes NOW. Likewise, I don't know that it has been stated definitively that the Midnighters had zero access to time travel before they received their Aspect of the Pillar.

    Quote:
Also, I went about trying to figure out if this could be a Midnighter, and I don't believe it is as the writer refers to the Midnight Club as "them" and not "us." It's not conclusive evidence, obviously, but he just doesn't sound like he's from the Midnight Club.
You said yourself in the previous paragraph that he might no longer be a Midnighter (when you said "or was one"). As such, if he no longer considers himself a part of the Midnighters, he would have no reason to use inclusive pronouns like 'we' or 'us.'

I am not making the case that the Dream Doctor IS the letter writer, merely sparring with your reasoning a bit so that we can all come to a proper conclusion.
  12. I must amend my statement earlier regarding the Issue 11 trailer... Mender Silos states that the pillar is "an artifact from the end of the universe itself" NOT what I stated earlier.

Just watched the trailer again... He states that the Pillar of Ice and Flame is an artifiact "from the end of time" and that it was chosen due to the accuracy as well as the accessibility it provides to supers of this time.
  18. I feel a bit cheated... I got only about 5 or 6 levels total this DXP... between an unscheduled house guest, and cleaning for said guest, I had little to no time to play DESPITE the fact that I took off a day of work!

Got a Praetorian from like 14ish to 19 and my MA/Regen from 42 to 43.

Not very productive for me at all.

  24. First, do NOT take the following post to imply that I actually agree with Je Saist... because I almost never do. I am merely toying with the bit of math that was provided.

Okay... let's do a little math here:

    20 * 8 = 160 people
50,000 = Let's say that is an EXTREMELY conservative estimate of total subscribers for this game

Lets also figure that for each of those 160 people you are talking about that are on-line at a given time PvPing in the window you describe, there are 10 more people who are not online. So:

    160 * 10 = 1,600 PvP Enthusiasts

    1,600 / 50,000 = 3.2%
