Quote:Yeah, this is incredibly untrue. I would venture to guess that MOST people in the actual game-world use SO/DOs. I for one, have so many characters under level 25, that I have millions invested in SO/DOs.The dual/single origin enhancements use them but those enhancements I don't think anyone really uses any more.
Plus, I hate crafting, I would rather be playing, so many of my characters at well ABOVE 30 are still using SOs. Honestly, unless you are using Set IOs, I don't think the difference is that huge in magnitude. -
Theoretically, it was an option added an Issue or two back (being able to re-invite people into an iTrial that is)... but I have yet to see it work.
As far as joing a Trial already in progress from the Queue? I have never seen that happen either... though I have joined a Queue a few times, only to sit there for a while. -
This has been suggested before as customization options for the existing Powersets. And, as such, I completely support it! I am very opposed, however, to making NEW powersets that use weapons to do these same things.

Quote:Yes, it is. The Pirate Ghosts in Port Oakes only spawn at night... as do certain Council enemies in Striga... as well as Ghosts in Croatoa... same with Vahzilok in Faultline (though that one was altered not that long ago). So, the excuse of perpetual darkness being an advantage to badge hunting is no longer valid.
Quote:So yeah, I also think it's annoying. I think of Halloween as that special time of year when I don't bother designing or editing costumes because there's no decent light anywhere to judge them by.
As far as costumes go? I have several that look better at night, namely those that use Bioluminescent pieces. -

Quote:Mayhap... but I can all but guarantee that Z_X HAS had some level of contact with the developers at some point... I just get that vibe. Hell, I half thought for a time that this was Sexy Jay's personal account... but the wording of the posts is FAR too normal to be Jay.it's precisely that reason that you won't see much of this because claims like this are scary to developers

Bad Idea: Giving all your Purple recipes to Amerikatt.
Good Idea: Inviting friends to a picnic in a Park. -

Quote:Another example of an effect that can have a downside is AoE Immobs... they can prevent enemies from moving where they need to when used poorly, and many contain a -KB component which renders powers like [Ice Patch]'s KD useless.About the only other one I can come up with that can have a serious downside is the mob AI "afraid" status caused by such powers as Rain of Fire. Without some additional means of slowing or immobilizing mobs in the area of effect, the scatter can do more harm than good on top of just preventing the power from dealing all the damage it could.
Other examples would be Intangibility powers and Cage powers. Both can be used to good effect... but they can also be used exceedingly poorly. Same goes for KB. -
Quote:Wow. I have disagreed with you before, but not as fervently as in this case.Incarnate Trials are not fun. They were never fun. Moreover, they were never designed to be fun. They were designed to be a player-conditioning Skinner box. They were designed to be addictive. They were designed to the most repugnant practices in game development, where the goal isn't to entertain players but rather to keep them locked on a constant treadmill by engineering the experience such that it constantly gives players cues to try harder and grind more and never gives them any stopping points.
I have absolutely no doubt that the Devs wanted the Trials to be fun AND addictive in terms of loot gathering and power progression. I am confident that the Dev team has not sunk so low as to not care about those things as you seem to imply. I also disagree about not giving them stopping points. Specifically, each Category only has 4 Tiers, there that's a stopping point. Also, the Devs have specifically stopped giving us new Powers (we still have 5 more (that we know of) that aren't even earnable)... that is another imposed stopping point.
And I never thought I would say this considering how I felt about the Incarnate Content when it was announced and when I first played it, but: it is fun. I like running iTrials... especially the Underground, Keyes (not so much) and BAF. The secret, I have found, is to do OTHER stuff, and only sprinkle in some iTrials every once and a while. I think the principal issue is many people don't do anything else, and are getting burned out... and/or trying to never die and succeed in ways that simply aren't possible. -

Dang, I forogot which poster it is who has been constantly lobbying for a Rikit Epic AT for the past umpteen years, and used to speak in Rikti on the boards. He will be pleased by this option.

The popmenu system seems like a GREAT place to create chat messages for use during the various parts of iTrials. Good idea! If I ever get around to leading more of them, that is something to consider.
I give you props for making a pointless thread have some value. -
I have noticed a steady increase in the number of times I have sent "Nice costume" tells to folks I have seen and/or teamed with lately. And yes, there was a dirth of good costumes at one point not too far in the past.

I think the issue with screen flash COULD be related to the Bats Aura. I didn't have any screen flash until my character flew with the Bats Aura on in Cap au Diable. Then, when I took it off of him, and restarted the game, it was gone.
Perhaps other people in the same area as you with the aura is what is causing the issue? When I logged back in it was early in the morning and NO ONE was around in the zones I went to. -
I think Summer would be a great time for the much loved Big Red Ball!

Quote:There was a villain in Darkwing Duck that was animate water (Liquidator)... and then Hydroman from Spider-Man.What comic book has sentient water as a major hero? (Note: haven't read comics regularly for nearly 12 years).
Quote:The odds. When the odds against me surviving are overwhelming I become inspired. For example I was doing a BAF the other day and things suddenly went awry. The Adds got way out of hand and the league window was full of the red names of the dead and dying. But somehow, with just seconds to spare, we rallied and were triumphant. -
Quote:That's a really good point. I think the difference comes in with regard to intent. Did the player TRY to make the character look/act like the established character or did it just happen to turn out that way. You'd be hard pressed not to come pretty close to at least one of the comic book characters created over comics' 70+ year history with almost any character you create.
In the present discussion, I am more after the cases where it is intentional. -
And you are sure you haven't been demoted? You didn't really answer my question. Because other than being demoted or kicked, I can't think of a reason you wouldn't be able to pay your rent. And if you weren't up to date on patches you wouldn't be able to get into the game at all.

That is one of the silliest suggestions I have seen on the forums in a LONG time... and I have seen a ton of silly suggestions in these four years.
You are proposing that a test be taken before they can play a part of a video game? Really? Talk about taking this game WAY the F too seriously. I mean, I am guilty of taking things seriously too... but NEVER would I propose that people need to pass a test to play the game. That is going way too far.
Yes, I would love it if everyone payed attention, but some people just don't care that much. And there are ways to figure that out beforehand, this idea should not be among those options. -
Does the character you were on have permission to pay the Super Group Rent? Not all ranks are given that permission, and if you are usually on a higher ranked character, might not have realized that there is a difference.
