Completely and totally agree with this, Bill! I agreed with that a year ago, too.

Unfortunately, this too is right. There are many who understand nothing more than: "Now I have 45% Def and am invincible!!! Muahahaha!" And will go bonkers if a change like this gets announced.

Doesn't make the change wrong, just much harder to implement... safely.
  3. What's most interesting is how little of that seems to apply to CoH... especially the pay-to-win section. (So far at least...)

First, you can't buy a Kinetic Combat with Alignment Merits... you would have to sell other things to get the cash, which while totally doable, it would be better, IMO to use them for stuff in the build you can get with them.

Secondly, yes, they are a lot more expensive, like 10 to 20 times more.
  5. Mostly because Kinetic Combats are ridiculous expensive...
  6. Only thing I am not keen on in that build is having both Combat Jumping and Hover on at all times to maintain that higher Def number. In order to remedy this, I altered the original build a bit: I replaced Shockwave with Tactics 6 slotted with Gaussian's, I slotted Follow-Up with Mako's (which is where Gaussian's was originally). That gets me to 45.3 on S/L and 40.3 on E/Ne... without incarnate powers or multiple travels. The extra accuracy may be a bit of overkill, but it serves as a great place for Gaussian's without giving up damage enhancement in Follow-Up... and it will help the rest of the team a bit, since he never solos on this dude. I also put in a few more LotGs... if he can't afford them, I will gift them to him .

    Which gives me, this:

Nope... my worry comes in the form that I don't like the idea of people not playing the game, and still getting what they want. The game is about playing it, and there are some things you gotta do to get what you want, if you don't like that, then you need to learn to live without those things.

The things folks should be paying for are those that are not obtainable in the game and bestow some unique effect, or changes in appearance. Mostly cosmetic things that don't actually impact the game much in terms of power/performance. The Super Boosters of Old are excellent examples of this idea done well.
  10. I am making a build for a friend of mine, and he has had issues of survivability in the past. So, I attempted to get him as close to 45% on S/L/E/Ne as I could. I feel like maybe I could do a bit better... but that's where you folks come in.

He almost always teams on this character, doing Tips and TF/SF with friends. Also, in terms of budget, he is limited. So, no PvP IOs or more than a Purple or two. I can help him on cash somewhat, but he prefers to go it alone in that regard. Any comments? Also, any suggestions on Incarnate Powers? Part of me wants to go Vigor for the +Def as well as some +Rech, but the +EndMod would be mostly wasted in the build.

I am now, and always have been in favor of this idea. I LIKE that the EATs are all tied to lore. And this one would be both interesting, and lore-related. I especially think now is a great time to roll something like this out... with the Battalion on the horizon (an enemy of the Rikti).

    Half?

You can't pair it with: Claws, Spines, Dual Blades, Katana, Titan Weapons or Staff Fighting. Let's see, there are, what, 17 melee sets in the game? Not half. A few would be more accurate.
