Quote:To you, apparently. Your statements are not objectively true as you seem to be asserting. Some people care more about their costumes than the actual gameplay, and that's great, because it drives designers to create more costume pieces, thus creating more creativity and happiness for the entire community. It's just...low on the scale of WE SHOULD ALL FREAK OUT BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE IT!
I happen to be among the group who is more worried about how my character looks, than the numbers behind the powers.
Could you imagine the fervor if they -were- doing this same promotion for a unique Power Set? I can't. -
-
I see you ignored the posters who laid out why that isn't the case. Nice try though.
Quote:However, getting foamy at the mouth over a COSTUME PIECE really isn't worth slamming a marketing team who's clearly simply looking for ways to expand the community into new arenas.
I dunno, I am super super excited that this costume piece exists. And for every ounce of excitement I have I developed an equal or greater amount of "vitriol" due to the way in which I will have to obtain this piece. I would gladly pay for this piece on the Market... I can't.
In most situations, I would agree with you, Aurora, but one of the greatest strengths of this game is its costume creator, and limiting such a fiercely desired Aura like this seems... ridiculous, I felt I needed to share that opinion. Apparently, others did as well... lots of others. -
Quote:It's hilarious how inapplicable that example is. But go on thinking that if it makes you happy.Right now, we sound like the people in the grocery store ******** at the free sample lady that we can't get a whole pizza for free. Please stop.
What the majority of us are mad about is that (to keep your analogy) the free sample lady gives ONE taste of pizza to the first person to look at her... and everyone else gets told they can't have any because that guy just ate his. Nevermind the giant pizza behind her. -
Quote:Not only is he wrong, but also demonstrating a fundamental misunderstanding of how the supposed "Cottage Rule" works. And also completely missing the fact that it is set up to keep the game performing within certain bounds of consistency.YES
YES YES YES
The cottage rule is the WORST thing that has ever happened to City of Heroes design. It's developers willfully saying that they're going to do a poor job in the name of what, not rocking the boat with the customer? That's a ridiculous argument because the boat is being rocked to bring the customer a better product. Throw it out. It's awful.
Every game has the Cottage Rule, it's just they don't talk about it as much and don't have a player base tossing the phrase around incorrectly every other minute. -
Quote:BEST news of the day!! That you are even thinking about it is amazing! I knew my faith in you was well placed.Ideally, that's a great idea. I'll look into seeing if that's something we can do that won't require monopolizing my staffs entire day.
We will do what we can with the manpower and resources we have available.
Perhaps you could make it VERY much like the Facebook giveaway... make it: Send us a tweet now with the word FLARGGLE! and the next 100 people, or 50 or whatever, will get a Code e-mailed? twittered? back to them. That way you don't have like 1,000 people tweet you in like 5 minutes and swamp everyone for hours. -
Quote:FANTABULOUS IDEA!!!Here's a quick idea that somewhat follows the Facebook lines:
1) You follow the twitter account
2) You send a message to the account under some set of conditions (using a specific word from a tweet or within a certain timeframe)
3) You get a reply back with a code that you can use to unlock <insert shiny here>
In fact, it is better than the current method in every way. It makes people actually join Twitter... and then follow you. Which, well, is what you want. Now, people can get around following by just watching the public page.
Is this not an option for some reason? -
Quote:This is my position entirely. And I think it is the only reasonable position one can have on this.Zwill, I don't object AT ALL to you using and promoting Twitter - {...}. By all means, use and promote Twitter.
My objection is to the code grab.
All it does is frustrate me. Especially when you then tell me I won't be able to get that item any other way.
Zwill, you seem like an awesome guy... and I guarantee that you have clear goals in mind and a reason for everything you have said... however, I really don't see the passing out of "5-seconds-and-gone" codes for things that everyone clearly wants.
Isn't there a happy medium? Can't something be done like the Facebook promotion for "/e facepalm"? That worked a TON better and pissed off far fewer of the people you want to keep loyal to your brand. -
Also, I don't think you CAN apply two codes for the same thing.
-
-
Indeed, Bullet Barage, if you tried that... someone else would just get to get to it first. You can't sell these codes.
-
-
Quote:Why can't you do what was done with the Facepalm emote through Facebook? Weren't a limited number of codes generated (one for each person) up to the maximum number of people?I wish we had codes that work that way. Sadly, that's not the case.
We have a lot of codes here. And as I've stated previously, we do have other ways of distributing these. It just so happens that right now, we're announcing a program for Twitter.
That way, it doesn't put absolutely everyone who wants one in competition with each other.
I have NEVER been more excited about an Aura than I am about this one... and it is being handed out in a way that all but assures I won't get it. I will try (I even made a Twitter account just for this), but I won't really like the method even if I do luck out. Because, well, that means like 5,000 other people won't have gotten that one.
It really is a suboptimal way to do things. I wish that there was a method that was more equitable. -
Quote:I think it would be kinda awesome. Lots of things are out of balance.Just hearing that today got me thinking, what if I24 is another big balancing act like ED or GDN? Some powers could get gutted like Rage or Drain Psyche.
Thoughts?
*shrug*
Just something to make due with when it happens. I have never been afraid of deserved Nerfs. -
To answer the question in the OP: No.
That's it. No.
Especially considering no set has ever been "obsolete," IMO. -
Code:So here is where I sit... in terms of decisions. I put a Pet Set back in Singy, move the ATO set into WH... grabbed Dim Shift (which I am really starting to like, but I feel it is too rarely used by me to invest too much slotting into), and plan to put the KB->KD proc's set in Energy Torrent.

That leaves me with what to put into Crush. Do I go the route of Thunderstrike and use it for damage? Or, do I stick the new AT set into there and try to use it more often than I do to get the Energy Font around a bunch OR would that have a chance to proc everytime Singy attacks, or just when I cast him?
Grrrr, so many decisions! What is clear to me though, is that I will not go unde 45+ ranged def... and I like the amount of rech I have.
For some bizarre reason, I am rather adverse to HamiOs, haven't the faintest idea why. Maybe because I am loathe to lose set bonuses? Even when they don't matter. -
First, I won't post this for all the other threads for two reasons:
1. I don't care enough about this "issue" to actually want to rally for the change.
2. This idea shouldn't be targeted toward individual servers at all. It is a change that (if made) should be game-wide. As such, it should be posted in Suggestions & Ideas if anywhere.
Secondly, as to you bristling at the "selfish" comment? Well, you made a suggestion that other people might like too, but instead of advocating for all to get it, you phrased it to only benefit you and your gameplay. What would you call that? -
At this point? Never say never. The mere existence of the Paragon Market changes a lot. Look at the prodigous release of Power Sets.
Also, glancing across the great big AT suggestion thread, Commander seems like the Assault/Allies (I like the idea of the support pets being called Allies) AT.
Also, there was an AT in theat other thread called the Duo that consisted of a singular pet follower that would assist you. That seemed potentially very cool, as long as it is customizable (HUGE concept opportunities there). -
In addition to the development reasons I mentioned... that is the other reason I like it.
The idea originally came up when folks wanted a heroic Matermind... one where they lead the charge themselves. Unfortunately I can't take credit for the idea. It is merely me continuing to refine the concept of what someone else suggested years ago.
I envision a mostly reuse of the Mastermind models for this (Beasts might be a challenge... may have to have them just have various aura buffs), but with altered powers. -
I like the idea of an Assault Primary and Pets Secondary. The Pets could be similar to Mastermind pets... but would focus on Support and making the character/team more survivable. Also, instead of the Attacks that usually go in the Pet primary of a MM, they would be Defensive powers like a few SR powers with Ninja, or a few self-focused Force Field powers with Robotics, etc.
Not only would this setup make the development of the Pets themselves easier since the actual pets would always benefit two ATs, but the development of Dominator Secondaries would also be more profitable since they would also benefit two ATs.
Just my thoughts. -
Quote:Yeah, I don't necessarily get the rule myself... but wanted the OP to know the technicalities involved. *shrug* I post how I feel... and about what I know, if that turns out to be wrong, it gets modded. I am not that concerned with all the nuances with regard to my own posts, anyway.Curious..is bumping only applying to your own posts? Because if it is counting other peoples..technically every thread that poses a question would be bumping..since you are after replies?
But I try to disavow the "I didn't know" defense whenever I can. -
-
FYI: It is against forum rules to create a petition. "It is bumping in disguise."
Also, I don't understand why only Virtue server should benefit from such a change. Shouldn't you be advocating this change for all servers, not just yours? Seems a bit short-sighted and... well... selfish. -
To answer the OP's question directly: No, there is no default key combination.
If you want to use the keyboard you have to define them manually via binds or the Options menu as described above. -
Quote:Bwah? And there are plenty of characters that don't have praetorian counterparts and vice versa. As far as we know, there's no Primal Katie Douglass or Nadia. Nor Praetorian Maria Jenkins or Blue Steel.
Have you not heard of Praetor Young? My StJ/Shield Scrapper? Heh.
