  1. Indeed that is a problem for us all. I can't really find excuses to recruit ppl into helping me test... it is just too selfish (even for me) to expect people to slog through missions they may not even like so that *I* can be happy with them!
  2. Though I personally don't RP, it may be important to think about how late in a character's career one can acquire one of those weapons. Most will not get one until their 40s (unless lucky enough to get SKed during the right mission to get a badge).

Aside from that, one could RP nearly any reason to have a sword with a moving eye-ball on it. It needn't be because they got it from a Rularuu-related task specifically.

Heck, one could claim that your character posesses a living magical weapon, and as it (not the player) gains power (levels) it evolves until it reaches its final form (the Rularuu-style).
  3. There is an option to add: "Villain_Name teleported to safety moments before the final blow!" to the text that generates in chat when he "dies." Also, you could have him say something to that effect. But, yes, the actual VFXs would be a nice option.

Ok I gave it my best shot too. Working from comments other people made and adding my own ideas. I tried to go for different colors without using any very bright colors, since I wanted an overall rusty/old/used look.

    1. Asymmetrical is good. There aren't many such options. Robotic Arm 3 (right arm) is one. One com on the helmet, one eye piece, gladiator shoulders. those are options. I also went with the ragged kilt here because although it may not seem logical for a robot to have one, it's about the only ragged or asymmetrical item I can think of for below the waist, and it works well for a homeless / junky look. Maybe trenchcoat with tattered coattails could work just as well.

    2. Camo pattern can work well for rust or dried blood. I used that on the torso.

    3. I really like the massive gear shoulders for a junky kind of look.

    4. A wrench mace looks good. ^_^ Also for aesthetic reasons I went with the ghost slaying axe and the nemesis staff. I kind of liked the look of him pulling different things from his back, it sort of enhanced the overall concept for me.

    Those are some kicking costumes!
  5. I think a Prestige Aura would be a great way to do just that! Possible a Prestige Costume Set/Piece. That, could be tied to a "Earn 700 Badges" Badge, and I would get behind it.

I think the hate that people are chucking at the idea is based on an inherent dislike of ANY increase to the max level regardless of how big it is or how one achieves it.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
Perhaps hunting badges wouldn't be seen as such a waste of time if there was something "real" as a reward.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I think I am having trouble here. Earning a level that does nothing in a videogame is more "real" than earning a badge in that same video game? How is either at all real?

And in regard to the idea that one can decide how many badges one wants. What do you say to the guy who has been around from the Beta and has turned to badging to bridge the times when he might have unsubbed, and now has 499 badges when these added levels "go live"? Now, he can't even pay for the game anymore for fear of getting a Vet. Badge and "out-leveling" content.

    Bad idea is bad.
  7. That would be nice. It is one of the reasons that I will click on an Ally or Pet to get there target, then switch to it myself so that I can see those things.

    Super Villains!

I think this is a less than stellar way to fix the inherent "heroic" feel of CoV. In fact, it may lead to "power creap." Also, as said above, it is the writing and some of the enemy groups faced that makes CoV feel less villainous than maybe it could, NOT the little numbers above enemy's heads.
  9. Fleeting, I should have read your post before I posted mine. I would simply have said "This! ^"

How would you feel if I took your national flag down from a flagpole, threw it down on the ground and walked all over it? Or I shot several holes in it? Stuck my finger down my throat and vomited all over it? Put on a set of Kung Fu Tiger Claws, and ripped a bunch of holes in it? Took a knife and stabbed and ripped it several times? Burned it? Threw acid on it? Dumped a bunch of raw sewage on it? (Which would include human feces, among other things.)

You really have no problem with that?

Because if you wear it as a cape, that's just a few of the things that are going to happen to it.

If you really have no objection to defacing the flag of your country that way, what kind of message are you really sending about how you feel about your country?

Respect for your country and for the flag that represents it includes NOT putting it in a situation where you know it will become soiled, torn, burnt, befouled or otherwise defaced. Wearing it as a cape would most certainly be putting it in such a situation.

Look up the colors and the flags of nations you want to have your characters come from, and use those within the costume creator to associate them with those countries. But if you wouldn't be comfortable seeing the flag of your own nation torn, burnt, soiled and defaced as a part of someone's costume, then you should extend the same courtesy to the flags of other nations.

Its cloth. Get over it. That's how I would feel.

/emote catchkiss: you snatch at mid-air, smile, and slowly put your hand to your cheek.

Our characters can't smile... or rather don't have moveable face parts.

rename /e yoga to /e lotus.
/e yoga would now cycle you through basic yoga maneuvers: salutation to the sun, shoulderstand, bridge pose, etc.

    [/ QUOTE ]
That could be kinda cool... Also note that /e lotus, is already an emote in the game that does the crosslegged sit.
  12. This is suggested fairly often, and each time some of the same issues are pointed out: Yes, it is a cool concept that a lot of folks like (except when someone proposed it be a Controller Primary... ewwwww); CoH/V's engine would massacre the look of the whip itself, and one of the few workable solutions involves it being a weapon set that isn't customizable.

What gets me is that evidently most of the people who are really upset by this change have figured out a way to play that most players never even think of or can't afford and also allegedly are so smart in how they play that their pets rarely get slowed due to them having parsed every possible battle configuration. No doubt they feel that the game is being hopelessly dumbed down for the great unwashed masses and I can see their point. Then again they are so smart that they will undoubtedly figure out fun new ways to exploit bugs that the clueless Devs don't even realize exist so I don't know what they are worried about.

In any case they do not represent the vast majority of players but are rather a small and very vocal minority that nevertheless probably have the power to make the Devs pull their hair out in frustration with their apparent expectations of perfection or near perfection from a video game.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This seems to ring true, regarding the "angry" posts I have read so far.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Ok fine I see your point in this. Its just like how back in the day we were never meant to have more than one instance of a pet but yet it went on for more than a year before it was addressed. I understand what you are doing from the developer side but as the players how are we supposed to know what you all intended as the limits for certain powers? There is just no way for us to know this. All I can say is if this decision is final then it truely makes me sad because doing things like this with IOs was to me building a part of who my character was as a whole. But if we have to go back to plain on vanilla slotting again because the IOs dont give as much benefit then I might as well not even play that toon anymore and/or ever create toons that have those powersets. To me the buffed up lightning storm was the difference between choosing storm summoning over cold domination for my defender.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not trying to single you out, but simply making an observance based on this type of argument.

It seems to me that IOs have caused more problems than they are worth. I mean, everyone survived just fine for 8 issues before they existed, but now it seems people just can't live without them. Everytime a change is made that corrects some level of damage that IOs have wrought, people QQ all over the place.

Maybe, and I am half-serious here, IOs should all be removed from the game at this point. Wouldn't that free up some of the time spent on coding fixes... not to mention explaining said fixes?

In my opinion, none of the reward systems in this game have ever been remotely fun, so you can't claim that something enjoyable has been lost by changing it.

Honestly, I don't understand how people can boot up a game and start worrying about efficiency and ROI. Maybe it's because I get bombarded with that all day at work, but I think you're all crazy for even mouthing the word "optimal".

My fun is optimal when I stop worrying about how I can purple out and focus on hanging guys off of lamp posts with knockback, or getting PUGs to roll over Invincible missions, or completing Sara Moore on Invincible, without an emp (7 horrible hours well-spent). In all the time since I started, in beta, no changes made to the game have ever really changed that.

All this bickering over rewards systems is just symptom that the game is not providing rewarding new experiences frequently enough. I hope the mission architect helps to alleviate this. Loot is a bonus, not the goal.

Finally, a board poster with whom I can agree on about this "merit-lust."

    And then...

I realized that the doll's name was Chucky... I hoped it wasn't *that* Chucky, and then...
  17. Nice job there Lemur.

I think I would go with a paler shade of pink... if there is one, and the smaller mask the OP used. Betwixt those two changes I'm nto sure what else one could do. (And the Valk Mask is a great stand-in for Recluse's or States's Masks.)
  18. It's sad when a disorder like that is thrown at a person far younger than should ever have to deal with it. And in this kind of thing, one wonders why? If I had an answer, I would probably not be on a video game message board.

At any rate, gather 'round your family and friends for support! As you can see there is an abundance of it here!

    Good luck, and best wishes.
  19. If I could watch the video I might be more impressed (I'm at work). But, that is not to say that I'm not impressed! It's just that going through the effort to dominate a TF and video the whole thing?!

Also, I have to ask... what is a "Tast Force"?
  20. Reading "Watchmen" for the first time actually inspired me to make a few characters. My Stalker Schwarzpunkt was based loosely off of Rorschach and my Dominator Aperture is even more loosely based on Dr. Manhattan.

I have a Scrapper who was inspired by the concept of Green Lantern. Basically a charcter who can create solid objects by will alone (though my character invented the device to do so himslef).

And my namesake character is based on the character that I created a few years ago. He has the powers I would want if I were to have superpowers (Telekinesis is envisioned as Gravity Control).

And, I am currently working on a few charaters (they have yet to be created) that are based off of in-game characters (Viridian and I hope my boy-friend will make a version of Shadow Spider) and I saw an interesting use of the Enforcer style armor that makes me want to make a character who has had impervium grafted onto his body after surviving a fire.

Whew... more than I thought when I started typing.
  21. Can you post the pictures you want edited with a dsecription of exactly where you want the arrows? Also, a shot of the variety of arrow might be helpful. I am fairly confident I can get the job done for you... though I make no promises.
  22. This is pehaps the best "Side-Switching" idea I have ever seen! Very much and emphatically: /signed
  23. I don't play on Champion... but Congratulations anyway!!
  24. Simply put: Hilarious!

I think these are wonderful. I especially like the writing... "Hero-grade spandex" and the entire "You sound like a cliché Hero" spiel are glorious, and very much in keeping with the particular variety of humor in the game as a whole (U'konn G'rai anyone?).
