Just remember:
"Base" salvage = frightening and confusing
"Praetorian" salvage = fluffy bunnies and immediate knowability
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think that we can conclude that the new salvage is a whole new category. It seems to me that it will just be regular Invention Salvage... but will be used for new recipes. -

At my age I have no idea what they call it these days. Now to explain to my wife why I am laughing so hard.

My work here is done. -

I may be mistaken, but I think the Valk blade is only for broadsword.
I can't think of anything off the top of my head that looks like a cutlass for dual blades...maybe the main gauche/droite...sorta...not really.
[/ QUOTE ]
It was originally only for BS, but a recent issue... (14?) brought it to Dual Blades as well. -
The pointy metal object is a heat synch and is used to draw the heat away from the heat sensitive parts. The fan then cools it so that the process can restart. That is about the extent of my knowldege on that. It sounds like the fan may have warped over time and be hitting one of the metal protrusions from the heat synch, but not be quite messed up enough to touch anything else.
As for it starting and stopping? It sounds like the impact with the heat synch is enought to jar the fan back into place, and then it works its way back to buzzing, only to be sent back into line... ad infinitum. Best bet IMO? Take the fan and/or the heat synch to a computer store and see if you can't get it replaced... at least that way you will know for certain that you are getting exactly what you need. I am waaaay not technical enough to tell someone how to fix a computer fan... mostly because I couldn't do it myself. -

Wow. Some of you people sound like you're jaded beyond enjoying the game anymore. Myself, I've only been playing since January, and I can't wait to see this. I get all excited when the sky turns red or green...
[/ QUOTE ]
I've been playing for over 2 years now... and I totally agree with you! -

its like raiiinnnn on your wedding its a free riiiideee when you've already paid
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean:
It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
(And) who would've thought... it figures? -

I still find the lower levels fairly entertaining, and I've been around for 5 years. I think it helps that I don't have all that many alts, so sometimes I go months without playing a low level character, and when I do it's a nice change. All that fast leveling.
[/ QUOTE ]
This... except I haven't been around for 5 years, and I play lowbies a bit more often. (Is 15 a lot of alts? Cuz if it is that is different too.)
Oh bother, the whole post has been routed at this point. Just read this entire post as: the game really does start at level 1. -
All I have to say, is that I hope there is not a new CoH/V game coming out in the near future. I love this game, and would be loathe to have to upgrade my computer and buy a whole new product and start as a newb all over again just to stay with the IP.
On the bright side, World of Heroes is not a bad name at all. It would make sense to expand out of Paragon and do a bit more globally. However, with GR on the horizon and continuous work on Issues by the Dev team, I just don't see them "abandoning" CoH/V in the near future.
Also, releasing a new game in the wake of other new games wouldn't be a good move IMO. Why would people be inclined to pick up a brand new CoH when other tottally new games are being released at around the same time? It would make more sense, to me, if they would try to keep the ones who are already here subscribing.... by releasing more content for a game that already has a good following. Which is pretty much exactly what appears to be happenning. -

it needs to be considered one of the best if not the best primary. what's the point of bringing out these new sets if it's hard to justify rolling them?
[/ QUOTE ]
This is called power creap... and it is bad. New sets should be just as good as existing sets, not better. Unique? Sure. Interesting? Of course! But never outright, categorically superior to existing sets.
Also, it is easy to justify rolling a character with any powerset... even if it is categorically inferior to other sets: it's called a character concept. Fun comes from lots of different sources, and numbers in a database are pretty darned removed from my fun! -

The only thing I can think of that really freaks me out are greys.

What are greys? You mean the aliens or the shade?

I am asking myself the same thing... -

What would be the best controller...
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm thinking an old school X-Box controller. You know, the really huge one that you could serve a pizza on? -
It's called patience?
If you want IOs, you need to wait for them to be available. I don't see how a thread here, when there aren't any on the Market is going to help. You'd think that if anyone WANTED to sell them, they would, oh, I dunno, put them on the Market? So If someone wants one, they need to place bids and hope they get them... or just wait for them to be more readily available. -
Well, in actuality, about half reference Praetorian Clockwork, and the others mentioning Devouring Earth with one that mentions Hamidon specifically.

I have no idea how much Spam® will fit in a "mialbox." Mainly because I don't know what a "mialbox" is and I have never boughten any Spam®.
-
Not to put words in someone else's mouth, but I don't think he implied anything about your gameplay... but rather your ability to find people playing the type of content that YOU like to play.
I for one, have been on only a few AE Farms... and most of those were because I was so bored and not feeling like making a team, that I joined one. Not surprisingly, they bored me, I quit.
That's beside the point though. Look into the many ways that one can get involved with the "normal" content. If you look hard enough, you can find people who want to do it. When I build a team, it does not touch the AE... and yet I have managed to keep 8-man teams going for many hours. How? Because I tried to do so? Because I replaced people when they moved on, and because I kept the team moving. PuGs are not dead just because the AE arrived.
They do, however, require a bit more effort to get rolling than before. -
Odd that you didn't find the other posts about this... there were at least 3 threads about this IIRC.
-
I believe the one missing from your count may be the Accolade, which counts toward it, and perhaps the Day Job.

Also note that most, if not all mobs in the shadow shard can see through stealth, even super speed. So don't even think about ghosting missions there.

And the Eye balls have crazy to hit, so if your a defense set like /SR it is going to hurt.

One of my forrays against Rularuu Enemies was on a DM/SR Stalker... both of those evils conspired against me. -

Your "rockstar," eh? Is that what they're calling it these days? -

No.
Microtransactions in this game are for fluff, and they will always be for fluff. IO sets are not fluff.
[/ QUOTE ]
I originally posted my piece on the definition of "fluff," but then I read the rest of the thread and realized we had already gone and done that.
The odd thing is, I agree that IOs are fluff, but I still oppose the purchase of them with real money. Goes to show that the same idea can have vastly different execution.
Also, to respond to the basketball team example used up-thread? I would say that the performance enhancing drug is, indeed, "fluff." To me, fluff is anything that is not essential to fulfill oligations or expectations. -
This idea has been posted many times before. To put it simply, I don't think this is anything close to a good idea. The fact that you use WoW as a feasibility model is kinda funny.
Also, the above posters mentioned that the game used to do this; however, the developers created the AT system for a reason... the open power selection model was unworkable.
