What's funny to me about this thread is the fact that I am gay and regularly play with my boyfriend... and I have never been tossed the kind of bile that a RL Girl/Guy duo got tossed. Pretty much all we do is PUG around and add in the occasional SG Mate friend when available.
Not that I want that kinda crap going on. -

I agree that the first whack job (pun intended) should have been put on /ignore at the first or second comment and that you should have /petition-ed him as well. Problem solved.
However, when it comes to the video game discussion? Are you serious? I must agree that you need to lighten up a bit.
Snippet:
Quote:I almost laughed out loud at this part. Sweet and innocent babies? Give me a break. Kids are nothing more than reflections of society with primitive logical capacity, they can be just as malicious and bitter as any adult can, in some cases, worse. I think you need to get out more and re-examine your biases....But I find it particularly atrocious when hate and filth is directed towards the sweet, innocent babies.
Sweet and innocent. Wow. -
Quote:As far as I know, there is no confirmation about this as of yet. Soon™?Dunno if this have already been asked and answered. And sorry if it already have and I just failed at doing a search.
But are villains allowed to pick Ancillary Power Pools or do they have to stick with Patron Power Pools if they switch sides? and vise versa for Heroes ?
Since aren't the Patron Power Pools directly connected to the Arachnos Patron: Black Scorpion, Captain Mako, Ghost Widow, and Scirocco?
Or are they possiblely(hopefully) able to pick from both? -
Well, part of that is normal. The mission will reset after a DC, but spawning for a team of 3 and gaining patrol XP after a short disconnect is odd. May want to /bug it or something.

Yes.
A TF/SF is always worth doing if you will have fun. This is a game, fun is its own reward. (Yes, I do know how cheesey that sounds; it is true nonetheless). -
My sense of grammar and spelling is ailing now.
Also, adding something because WoW does it, will never get my vote. Present some compelling reasons. -
Quote:I thought that that was just in PvP... but if I am reading City of Data correctly, it goes for PvE too.I haven't played a ice tank recently, but a friend who has tells me that using Hibernate activates a debuff called [NoPhase] that lasts 120 seconds and prevents using Hibernate or a Phase power during that time. That makes slotting recharge in Hibernate useless as the natural recharge of the power is also 120 seconds.

A friend of mine worked at a McDs when I was in HS, there was a particular device called a Universal Heating Cabinet that was referred to on a ton of forms and such as the UHC Cabinet... that stuff was from corporate!

Quote:Of course I must point out, that if the above example said "...such a lucky girl..." it would be okay. And that is the whole point of wanting a gay-themed or gay-exclusive SG. So that you can say what straights say all the time without question and without even noticing how lucky they are. I lived for years having to choose my words and [diminutive cat]-foot around certain conversations and issues.Difference there is, you're not making it a focal point of conversation. It's when people say things like 'Gotta go, my man is home.. I'm such a lucky guy for dating him!' it goes from being informative, to being as subtle as slapping you in the face with a truck! :P
Time and a place, dear people. Time and a place.
I dare people to go an entire day in a normal environment (like work or school) without once alluding to or making obvious the gender of their significant other. -
Quote:It actually is different than that. If you stood up in a crowded theatre and screamed that you are gay, the only reaction you should get should be bewilderment as to why that dude is screaming.Among strangers? Generally, yes. Among friends? That's completely different.
I have zero problems with whichever sexuality a person is, I just don't see the need to broadcast it to all and sundry inside a GAME. It's no different to holding up a sign saying "LOOK AT ME!"
I for one do not see casual and normal references as "broadcasting." Maybe you are just more discrete than I am. I like to be a human when I play a game, preferably myself. Mostly because, I have a level of anonymity in the game world that I simply do not have anywhere else. If I get rejected by someone because I am queer... well, so what, there are plenty more players I will never meet in RL. Being in this game allows me and many others the freedom to do what we would like to do in RL (to some that means fly, to others that means being open and honest about our sexuality) to me, that is acceptable. -
Quote:I simply refer to it honestly. If my boyfriend gets home from work, I will say "Oh hey, I have to go, the BF just got home." And other perfectly natural comments. When someone gives me a "O.o Yer a girl?!?" I tell them no, in fact I am not... very much a dude.Or a sign that they have either only recently came out, or are still in the closet in RL. Personally I agree, don't see the reason to broadcast it.
If that is wrong, so sue me. Hardly broadcasting though, so I guess that barely applies.

I hope you practice what you preach. Never referring to current or past girl-friends (boy-), talking about who you think is attractive, implying who you live with, discouraging others who want to talk about their wives or husbands, ignoring any form of in-game affection (*hugs {player}* type stuff), etc., ad nauseum.
-
Quote:All I have to say is I take issue with the term "sexual preference." It implies a level of choice in the matter that simply doesn't exist. It always makes me ask when someone "decided" to become straight....
Oh come on now, really?
Is there anyway of making yourself stand out more than creating a SG stating your sexual preference?
By which I mean: Do expect for homophobes to flame you because of your SG's name.

Nice job of patting yourself on the back for something that no one really ever notices (except of course those folks who need to stroke their egos on stuff like this).

Quote:Ummm, it also determines most every enhancement you slot.Don't see the need for an Origin respec. The only thing Origin affects is the temp power you start with (throwing kives, tranq dart, taser, mutagen, charm) and who your initial hero contact is. Redside it only affects the temp power.
/unsigned the devs have better things to do.
Also, some of us have accidentally chosen the wrong origin at creation to match our concept and didn't immediately notice (I don't slot until 12, for instance).
To the OP: /signed -
As long as there is a "this base cannot get raided ever" button that allows me to ignore raid pathing requirements when and if the CoP gets re-instated I will be happy.

Where is craxy... and how does one get driven there?
-
It might also be important to note, that I prefer to use serious sounding names. Names that would sound good when spoken by a news anchor discussing the character's exploits.
Ion Trigger, maybe? -
Quote:It's not.Yes, I just wanted to know if I speak in local chat, or the sg I team with speaks in local chat to each other (like we did), how can I/we avoid further disciplinary actions?? I've never heard of someone getting warned (as well as a message for their friends) NOT to speak in local chat. I don't feel it was right or fair that my alt toon was singled out despite the group I was in, and to add to that, I get threatened to not speak in local chat again?
I never knew speaking in local chat was against the UA.
Without knowing what was said betwixt you and the Mod, it seems as if you failed to represent your case very well when you tried to contend the silencing. Also, keep in mind that reciprocity is essentially irrelevant to the matter at hand. Just because others spam, does not mean that when you "don't" you can't get reprecussions. Although, I am sure you can see how standing in the cultural center of the city with a bunch of dudes who all have the "same name" (I know it isn't, but as you describe it might as well be) could be annoying to other players and confusing to a Mod looking over the chat history. If your name is the one spelled correctly (i.e. BiLL and not BiI*L or BiLI* [*capital i]) it seems obvious that you would recieve the warning.
