Quote:It just seems to me that everyone must want to be called "Cinder" or something just as unoriginal.Startled to discover Sky God was not taken on Guardian last night. I decided I don't want it, or Rain God either, since I snagged one I wanted even more.
I guess I kind of understand the genesis of the "all the good names are taken" feeling, but when I can get a name like Sky God on a fairly populated server after more than 5 years, well, geez. We're not talking fancy substitutes like Cerulean Deity or the Vault of Heaven or what have you. -
I agree.
Hmmm, that was a bit short. Ummm.... yeah. -
I shall have to watch the vid once I get home from work, but if your past greatness is represented here as well (as those before me have expressed) than I can unreservedly say: "WOW!" well before I actually watch it.
Also, with as many people as will be in the Beta, I almost wonder if they will bother with an NDA. -

Quote:Wow... so you mean they could make it so that a majority of players may give a crap?! That would ROCK. I might just start thinking about caring about it a little... MIGHT.one can always hope that it will be returned as a PvE experience with no PvP strings attached.
(How noncommittal of me.) -
I think I may have told this story already in a similar thread...
Also, as promised in that other post (since it is indeed, another day), I will answer how 37 got to be my favorite number.
Back in HS, my friend and I spent a lot of time in two places, his house's basement watching movies and messing around on his computer down there, and at McDonald's (he worked there). So, one day after playing one volume or another of You Don't Know Jack we went to McD... and listened to the disk in his car (the game disk had hilarious spoof commercials on it, after track 24, IIRC). At any rate, his car only had a casette player, so in order to listen to CDs, he had a CD player hooked up with a casette adapter, and a plug into the cigarette lighter. Naturally, whenever he turned off the car, the CD player would lose power and "forget" what track it was on, so we had to remember for it. At any rate, when we got to McDs this time, we left off on track 37 (just after an ad for Ubernostrum, IIRC).
So, when we got back to the car we skipped to track 37 and were on our way. Around this same time, we developped a "Nifty Scale" (from pi to 37). And so, we began seeing how close to 37 things were on the Nifty Scale. Also, we started noticing the number 37 in all kinds of movies (notably in Chasing Amy) and TV shows, in the background of scenes, in dialog, addition of numbers on license plates, etc. It seemed to be everywhere.
And so, the number stuck for me. -

Wow, someone comes in here with a buttload of good names, and a server that is known to be hard to find names on, and you bust his chops over it. Nice. Especially since there is no reason to believe that they weren't checked (considering the dude listed a server).

Quote:The fact that no one but the Devs have that information is the whole POINT. If no one has the information... than don't make the assertion that "many people" have left.Heh, this comment from anyone always amuses me.
Srsly, how is anyone other than the devs supposed to be able to supply information like this? Can someone not just post that they know of people who have done something without people assuming that they are talking about everyone in the game??
For the record, i know of people who have left this game for varying reasons, some of which are bugs exactly like this one which has a detrimental effect on peoples enjoyment of it. Can I quantify how many? Course I can't! But surely the fact that even one person has left directly because of a specific thing can't be seen as a good thing?
Anyway, the power of the Mod has spoken and given us some info, at least. Whilst it might not be exactly what we want to hear (ideally, that the fix is sorted, the game will work flawlessly and all will be world peace and kittens in just 5 days) at least we know something is happening now
I think Obsidius's point was not that he should somehow get magical non-existant numbers, but instead to illustrate that one shouldn't make baseless claims. If one has seen (i.e. anecdotal evidence) then make it clear, don't say "tons of people " or "lots of folks" or "no one is on anymore, cuz they quitted." [Note that those are just examples.] Instead, one should say, "a lot of the folks on my friends list have gone missing" and such, make it clear from whom and how the information you purport was originated. -
I didn't count Tyrant, since I felt the gold and red were far more significant in the costume than the blue... since, you used the phrase "main colors." Other than that quibble, I think our lists agree and my point stands.
Also, it is a good point about the Roman thing, it isn't something I really thought about. It is also worth noting that you ignored the point about the parallel of gray being a well established color associated with a neutral morality.
Honestly, I am not sure why I am arguing with you about this... niether of us knows what color, if any, will be used... and even if we did, the reasoning and such is out of our hands. I guess I just felt a bit argumentative. -
Quote:Thanks for the comment.Lathrop's a FF/Electric Defender, and Zeal's a Dark/Dark Corruptor.
I'll have to look out for that arc, it sounds cool!
Okay, now for the pics:
The first one is Mender Cocytus, and the last two are some of the custom enemies from my aforementioned story arc (Æ#295476, keep in mind that I haven't looked at it since just after the farming craze really came to a head... so it is likely that subsequent changes to the MA impacted the arc negatively... if it is still valid that is). -
Likely, the answer is yes. But there is absolutely no way to be sure at this point.
-
Much better idea. It also prevents the entire team from spawning Lord Recluses for a hard battle.... against Lord Recluse, which would be rather ridiculous looking.

I'm REALLY hoping that the East Coast server issue from about a month or so ago isn't back. I haven't been in-game much lately to experience it, and when I have, I have been playing my villains on West Coast servers.
*prays it isn't back* -
Quote:I too have a mender, Mender Cocytus by name. He's an Ice/Ice Tanker.I'll take some screencaps of Mender Lathrop and Mender Zeal soon as I get access to a computer to do it on.
I don't think I have anyone else, but one of my MA arcs revolves around Void Hunters trying to shut down a group of heroes who have "hero-y" Void costumes and have tasked themselves with hunting the hunters to protect Khelds everywhere.
I will see if I can't post some pics. -
Quote:By "most of" I guess you must have meant less than half. Most of them have purple/dark blue as the main part of their outfits, although some like Marauder and Black Swan just have black.
Cause, if you look at those who currently have purple as a significant component... well, you only are looking at 25% of 16. If you include dark blue as a primary color (not just blue, like Neuron, or as a tertiary color) than you still only have 38% of 16.
Maybe "most" changed meaning while I wasn't looking. -
Quote:Okay, fishsticks are nasty when not covered in fruit... I shudder to think what warm berries and gross fish might taste like.(*hands out "Boysenberry Burrito" fish-stix to everyone in this thread*) On the positive side, though, Miss Psygon's cute artwork is certain to boost sales and help Amerikatt Foods promote its new line of flavored fish-stix!
The cake may be a lie, but Amerikatt Flavored Fish-Stix (tm) are 100% wholesome goodness -- SOOOO delicious *and* SOOOO nutritious!

Quote:Haha at the overplayed analysis.Well, yeah, I know gray would better reflect the terrible soullessness of Tyrant and his thugs, but purple is the Praetorian color in both the new and old versions, and as it's a blend of blue and red, it'd make more sense than gray - plus, it looks more dynamic and threatening, especially if it's a darker shade of purple.
Since when has purple ever been associated with Praetorians? And I think gray is far mor iconic as a neutral color... as it has long been associated with neutrality or somewhat good/somewhat evil. -

Quote:No.For Scrappers.
I need to wait until we know the powers from the Blaster primary to elaborate on this more but...
Tier-1: Rubber Bullet: Minor Damage: Immobilize: -res
Tier-2: Cryo Round: Minor DoT (Cold): Hold
Tier-3: Ranged Shot: Moderate Damage
Tier-4: Poison Tipped Bullet: Single Target: -res, -def (double the values of Melt Armor)
Tier-5: ?name?: ?PBAoE or Targeted AoE?: Moderate damage
Just because Scrappers didn't get it as a Primary (and rightly so) does not mean that they need it as an Epic. Let some things be a bit more unique, please. -

Well, since Bosses generally can't pop out a [Singularity] (not to be confused with [Wormhole]) until after they see you... the best bet as a Stalker is to make sure you kill the boss first.
And as far as the KB goes, I believe the actual effect imparted by a Singularity is Repel... which is not ameliorated by -KB IOs.
