Quote:Yes, up until the point he sends you a tell asking you not to. Regardless of where someone is at that point, you are being a jerk by continuing to do whatever it was that you were doing that was cramping his fun. There are exceptions... but I would not say that this is one of them. You were using the zone for its intended purpose. Nothing wrong with that.
Now, if they had been PvPing among themselves already, and he asked you to stop... well then he is full of it. -
The grammar alone would make me contact NCSoft and see if they have a fraud department, and get the ball rolling on an investigation. I would advise not clicking on anything in that e-mail.
I have never seen an "official" company e-mail (from anywhere) that poorly phrased. It looks like a bad online translator did that. -

To the OP:
First, the word you are looking for is "abolish."
Second, I think you have a fantastic idea there. I would just be mad that the Invention Badges would have to go the way of the dodo. (As well as the nifty portable crafting table.)
Quote:I don't see increasing the time it takes to get Purples and Set IOs as a bad thing. In fact, I think it could actually go a long way in putting the earning of such powerful game changing items far enough away from a lot of people that it isn't thought about as necessary. I know there are people who refuse to play lowbie characters because they are too weak, and scoff at characters that aren't IOed to the gills for a similar reason. Perhaps increasing the time it takes to get those items might help.Your intent here seems to be making it easier to get IOs. What I think you are neglecting is that IF the devs were to implement such a system they would almost certainly price the various items so that the time you have to spend grinding for them is equal or longer than is is currently. So switching to this system wouldn't actually make it easier to get items, it would simply remove the various shortcuts you can use to get them faster (such as selling your drops to other players). In other words if they did this they would almost certainly set the prices so that we are FORCED to farm if we want IOs.
If you want proof I'll point you to the merit prices that they set for IOs. The rare enhancements are between 125-275 merits each and even the uncommons are 50-75. That means they expect you to spend between 2.25 and 13.75 hours for every set IO you want (and purples would presumably cost a LOT more). So fully equipping a level 50 with set IOs would take you between 200 hours and 1250 hours of play depending on exactly what you wanted, and goodness only knows how long it would take if you wanted a purpled build. The advantage of the current system is that at the moment you can do an end run around that. Even if you have no interest whatsoever in marketeering or farming there are plenty of IOs which have an inf price far in excess of their merit cost (LotG 7/5%s are the prime example). Trading merits for one or two of those can easily provide the inf required to fully equip a character with a good set of IOs.
Now before you say that the times I quoted above are unrealistic and that the devs would set the prices lower I will point out two things. First off those are based on the prices they set when they introduced the merit system and secondly the merit system was specifically designed for people who wanted to get gear without farming or marketeering. So clearly the devs believe that those sort of time lines ARE reasonable. Secondly this game is casual friendly but not all players are casual players. there are plenty of people who want to have to spend time acquiring a full set of IOs, it's a goal to work towards and for some people that is a good reason for playing the game. They don't want to have full IO sets handed to them on a silver platter. On the other hand IOs are not required for any content so the game itself appeals to both casual and non-casual. Casual players can use SOs and still enjoy everything the game has to offer. Non-casual players have goals to work towards.
tl;dr version: This would be fine for farmers and suck for everyone else. -

Quote:This. Those are all the same options that have been available to Masterminds since Weapon Customization was introduced. Since Dual Pistols is currently in its pre-release phase, I'm not surprised that there are no new models yet.
Brawler started a thread in the Suggestions forum ages ago asking what people wanted for Dual Pistol skins. I expect that the fruits of that thread will be seen when Going Rogue goes live.
But also: stop complaining about it people! -

Quote:I don't see how changing the cap would impact anything. Say they make it 10 billion... then someone will eventually decide that PvP IOs (or something else) are worth more than that, and the same problem would exist.I heard that 2billion is the cap a player can have. That's not very smart and needs to be raised/removed. The reason being is then items on the black market can't sell for over 2 billion. Why is this bad you ask? Because it encourages back-door deals where players trade money for the item instead of using the black market/wentworths. And so therefore no money is lost in the transaction. Raising the money cap would result in more money leaving the economy.
In short, raising the cap would lower prices. -
Quote:Maybe I don't know as much as I think I do... but that seems like a bit of an oxymoron to me.I want to make a Survivable Blaster, as well as a AoE centered Blaster.
"I want to hit as many targets as possible with as much damage as possible (making all of them try to kill me)... but they won't kill me, nah, I'm 'survivable.'" -
Don't use "plox," please. Oh how it grates at my psyche like an angry platypus wanting shredded cheese.

Quote:It shouldn't though.Sorry, but if you're rolling a kin then it just comes with the territory. Everybody knows that.
Quote:SB is one of the best buffs in the game, who wouldn't ask for it.
If you're a kin and you don't enjoy your team asking for SB, you're on the wrong secondary. -
-
Wow, its a good thing I don't play on the same server as you... because that is an extremely selfish and ridiculous way to run a team. No buff is that important that 5 seconds can't elapse between asking for and recieving a buff.
-
Quote:Well, first of all, none of the players in a TF situation are being asked to run it solo; it seems you are implying that the Kin's buffs are worth so much that the rest of the team might as well be solo without the Kin's help. They are in a situation with a player who isn't using all of their powers to the optimal level. There are still 7 other players on the team.If people are deliberately choosing (not unable to) not to do something and the team is very obviously failing because of it, then asking (not ordering) them to help out is perfectly acceptable. Trying to deflect the blame on to the other players doesn't work because one of the purposes of a team or task force is to tackle content that none of the players in it can accomplish solo. Players who respond to any request made of them with a knee-jerk reaction of "don't you tell me how to play!" are uncooperative and selfish.
(Also, I have yet to see a situation where one player failing to use one power has caused a team to fail. Usually, what happens is that one player isn't using a power, the team says something... and then promptly gives up putting in full effort because they see that said player isn't "contributing" as much as others think they should be.)
However I have to agree that the knee-jerk type reaction is annoying, and almost always uncalled for. And yes, they are being uncooperative and selfish. I guess my point is, that it really is NEVER another player's place to say use such and such a power please. It is their place to work around any percieved disadvantages that the team has and try to make it work anyway. If the team is unworkable, then kick/invite accordingly or give up.
Quote:This isn't the same thing as begging for SB everywhere because you think you need it, because the icon in your buff bar is blinking or because you look down on minmaxers and have a terribly designed build as a result. This isn't about castigating a player because they didn't take X power or use it in exactly Y way. There is a specific problem and a specific player on the team has the ability to solve it and is refusing to use it.
Quote:This is not 'telling other people how to play'. -
Quote:I think it is clear that this is a "worst case scenario" type of thing. I highly doubt that the Dev team would sentence their players to this type of thing. If my happiness with the game is any indication... the Devs know their playerbase waaaaay better than that. What worries me with the new and upcoming post-50 progression system, on the other hand, is that it will move the goal posts and put the "end" too far away. Yeah, you got to 50, sure. But now you can gain another 50 "not-levels" and get a bunch of other rewards, and that will take you TWICE as long as it took you to get here! Oh, and you'll need 50 people to even attempt this! Mua-ha-ha-ha-ha! Not for me. I just know they won't sell whatever future system they add in as optional this time around.

I read the tag "pk the drama queen" as "Player kill the Drama Queen" at first... I guess that and the right interpretation both kinda work, huh?

I got a Christmas pineapple given to me as a present once. It had cute little oranaments stuck through the "leafy" part.
'Twas the best (edible) Christmas tree ever. -
Regarding the various [Chain Induction] bugs:
From [Here] I pulled this:
Quote:From [Here] is:Electric Melee - Chain Induction correctly jumps to additional targets when slotted with proc IOs.
Quote:Electrical Melee / Chain Induction: Chain Induction jumping effect is now increased by enhancements and fury, and no longer jumps from confused NPCs to players. It also only strikes NPCs it has not previously jumped from. This affects Brute and Stalker versions of the power
Number 1, Number 2, and Number 3. -
I was going to disagree with this because I almost exclusively use SOs on my characters... but then I realized that I have a few characters that use -KB IOs... and a bunch more that are slotted up with Lvl 35 Common IOs so that I don't have to slot much at all post-32.
So.... yeah, even I use them.
Also: Good point UberGuy, the forum community is a rather skewed look at the CoH/V community at large. -
I made a character on Freedom who I decided would only gain experience via Sewer Runs.... but... due to a combination of me absolutely hating the server, and having far more fun characters to play... he is languishing after his first run at level 6ish.
His name? Sewer Breath. -
I might have kicked the player after the "veiled" threat that they would up and quit if you didn't knock it off. IMO, you, as the leader, didn't do anything wrong... and in fact were being nicer than a lot of leaders I have run with.
On the other hand, I think it is kinda ridiculous that so many people sport— ummmm... get excited about, SB. It is perhaps the only buff that people beg for. Yes, I know it is a good buff... but I just think any kind of buff-begging is in poor taste. As TonyV said, unless the player is actively doing things counterproductive to the team, I wouldn't legitimize the complaints by telling them how to play. And I must point out here, contrary to Lemur, that NOT doing something is not the same thing as doing something on purpose to mess with the team.
Long and short of it? I would have probably told the teammates to settle down and not be so fixated on that one buff before I would have told the Kin what to do. But, given the position you found yourself in at the end, I too would have kicked them. -
Quote:No problem... I am quite the nut for language stuff.Ah! Didn't know that. I might rename him then. Thanks for the info

Ummm, at the risk of sounding overly critical: If you know you spelled a word incorrectly (not wrong, as that is an adjective) then why did you not correct it instead of giving a parenthetical apology (and spell it incorrectly again in the process)??

Is it just me, or is the reaction to the introduction of gearscore in that other game the single most predictable thing ever? And also, possibly, the stupidest thing I have ever heard of a company doing "for" it's playerbase?
