It sounds to me like they may just be giving the Mission Computer a purpose... or have plans to get SOMETHING attached to it Soon™. Maybe something to do with the upcoming Incarnate Zone Events/Levels?

I can't say I have ever seen anything like that suggested/done before. It sounds like a marvelous concept though, do keep us posted on your results if you attempt it!

Would I be considered a heretic if I said that I liked it better before the ability to get exact values of one's powers was possible?

Hmmmm, it seems like of the "summon" type powers, only those that are "dropped" (that is those that you don't physically place with a targetting reticle) require you to be on the ground in order to use them. I proposed in Vanden's icon fix thread that they get a different icon border (which was implemented in Corva's icon pack [linked in my sig]).
I guess this is just a bit more reason to distinguish those two varieties of pet summoning abilities. -

One could also do something like:
[Broadcast] Dude: Troller LFT, lv50 inc3... -OR- lvl50+3
I think it really depends on a few different factors... first of all, do you have to be 50 to earn one (I would assume so)? That being the case, we might just call our characters "lvl53" or whatnot and eschew the alternate abbreviation completely, sticking with the elegant system we have now. -

I can't wait to get home in like 6 hours and watch the videos and such... Speaking of which, can anyone post some screencaps of things? I am waaaaaay too anxious to wait that long.
Huh, not sure how I could have missed that fairly obvious interpretation... I suppose I was so stoked about stuff being announced that I just had to pounce on someone who looked to be mad about something that wasn't even correct. Alas, it happens. -

Quote:For me, this is already the case. Once I get to 50... my character is pretty much done, and where I want it to be... not to be changed.I personally think it would be worth it...knowing, that the time I put into this character, grinding and all that fun stuff to get my character where I want it to be, that it will never be changed.
Also, there is no grinding... at least not for me. -
Quote:You are operating from a few false premises, namely:Ok, I know a lot of people get mad over a "nerf" that changes their characters build...no matter how small this "nerf" is.
So, I'm suggesting that they get the nerfing over with and dedicate a whole issue to balancing this game.
Then, players will never have to worry about the efficiency of their build being changed by outside factors.
I think this would be a great idea.
What do you all think?
that "balance" is a process with an ending
that people would want an issue that contains nothing but changes of value in a database
that introducing new powers wouldn't impact the game
that introducing new enemies wouldn't impact the game
that "balancing" is only achieved via "nerfs"
that it is a great idea -
Quote:I don't know how to say this without it looking like an "anti-farming" statement... just rest assured that it isn't.Economic arguments aside, how one have any pride farming -2 mobs?
How can anyone take pride in farming? If you are trying to do it efficiently, you are using the enemies that die the fastest vs. your build, and using the best build possible... it is ALREADY like taking lunch money from little kids. Most folks don't fight "hard" enemies anyway. -

Like in the Terra Volta Reactor's first few rooms?

Me likey.
Only one problem: the Devs don't want a lot of the unique costume pieces to be given to players. They have said as much. -
Quote:While I know you are right about this... I can't help but wonder how that is at all logical. NCSoft has a EULA that people are in violation of if they do **** like that... they make it very clear they don't tolerate that stuff, so when some moron makes the character, why do they get sued? Why not sue the moron? While I understand your point of view, all it takes is one idiot to make his/her henchmen into preteen female sex slaves to get the self righteous zealots in America demanding legal action against NCSoft.
(And yes, I know the answer is money... but geez, it is really stupid.) -

Quote:Complete and total rightness... you has it.Well, obviously you can just go there in the wee hours of the morning, or not go there at all... But ultimately it remains a horrible design decision to put things like shivans and nukes and badges in PvP zones. PvP and PvE should be completely separate without the slightest overlap, and nothing that a PvEer might need should ever be located in a PvP zone. Anything less than this will always result in rage on one or both sides.

Quote:The fact that you would never ask a PvPer to not try to kill you does not change the fact that it is rude to ignore someone who would. It's "nice" to stop when someone asks you to stop, but that does not mean you have to, nor does it mean you SHOULD. It's a PVP zone. As a die-hard PVE-er, I accept my lumps when I go into PVP zones for PVE shinies. Pill boxing, AV-hunting, nuke launching, whatever... if someone (or a whole team, as in the OP) starts attacking me (and/or my team), my first suggestion is to leave until the zone quiets down.
Also, I have never understood what is fun or challenging about killing people in a PvP zone who refuse to fight back. (Not directed at you Aggi, I just thought of that point.) It seems to me that those are the reasons people give as to why they PvP in the first place. If someone is attacking these non-PvPers only for drops, then it would seem to me that they are not PvPing at all and, are farming instead. And at that point, a non-PvPer's request would trump the PvP-Farmer's desire for IOs. -
Quote:I don't really have an opinion about the RP usage of "would" but I do find it funny that you are going on about the usage of a particular past participle of "will" and can't get subjunctive case correct in your own example sentence."He would have taken his nephew to get ice cream that Tuesday, if it wasn't raining."
That quoted line should read:
"He would have taken his nephew to get ice cream that Tuesday, if it weren't raining."
