Quote:It's called "looks really fricking stupid," and, obviously, it bothers at leat two people (one of the many reasons I don't play that other game). It's called suspension of disbelief.
Doesn't seem to bother many people.
While I will agree with the premise of wanting more Travel powers, these two are not the ones I would ask for. -

Great start, Aggi! -
Actually, for me it WAS that distracting... and it did impede me from understanding it. I am the type of guy who reads what is written... then stops to mentally fix the errors, than continues. This is a long process if someone doesn't know how to spell or use correct grammar. Apparently others also think that we should have some sort of unified, agreed upon, grammar system...

Quote:Explain to me how a fist not connected to the body is going to look anything less than stupid? Because, I don't see how they can get it to match up to and cover the fist of the avatar so that no one can see it... AND get the glove on the end to match the glove you are wearing.Sorry to bump an old thread here, but I'm a big proponent of elasticity. Elastic Melee is completely possible. Don't know about "control" though... seems like an odd choice. For melee you could simply have regular punch/kick/whatever animations, then throw out a projectile FIST or LEG or something, faded out at the end and with some blur and rippling effects so as to keep it from looking awkward. It would look like a generic gloved/booted limb, but with power customization, we could change the color of it so it would look fine considering it'd just be a quick-moving projectile. Tier 9 could be a spinning whirlwind of fists with a decent range.
Not sure if it should be considered a Blast or Melee set, though...
And, well, SCR still applies. -
Agreed. Not sure of what criteria would/should be used... but it would be a good initiative.
Perhaps folks should nominate current Stickies ripe for "un-stickying" and post them here... then someone can have this get stickyed as a list of stickys not to bother looking at.... (I kid...) but seriously, after they are collected a PM can be sent so that Mods can perchance make the appropriate changes. -
Quote:Sorry...Damn Thirty Seven, you forgot the 'feircely' in the end
j/k, you made me laugh really loudOk I won't post in this thread anymore, let him get his answers and ask again next month why people min/max and use Mids.
I think I also miscounted the number of points subtracted (in his favor).
See, this was asked before (as he said) and he got the same kinds of answers he is here. He seems hellbent on wanting to get a certain answer, and all others are pretty much ignored/refuted. Unfortunately, his basic premise is wrong... and he simply can't accept that. The game just isn't as he seems to think it is, at least I don't think so (and neither do most of the people I know). -
Quote:Hey there! If anyone is willing to put up with some newbie with alot of questions and willingness to play the game (I'm planning on being in game at least a couple hours per day as I can be atm) let me know. I've played a couple heroes, but made a villain and am really enjoying that too, but either works for me atm to learn how to play the game!
Our SG is small, but friendly, and we are always willing to help new folks get to know the game. Give me (@Thirty7) or my SG's co-owner @Vincent Marcone a shout. We aren't on all the time, but at least once a day, usually. I'm from MI, and am on most often from about 7:30pm or so until about 10:30 or 11 nightly, and then most of the day on Friday and Saturday. -

Totally and completely signed!!
Perhaps, though the entire thing should be accessible via a pop-up from the XP area with an appropriate timer between shifts, and possibly the requirement that the character not be in "combat mode" in order to switch... that fixes most of the possible exploits I could think of, AND makes it easier than going to a contact to do. -

Meh, could be. Not like I have played the set.

Actually... that kinda was how it was for my very closest friends (though not because I was a bad actor)... but most everyone else, it was very, "really? you sure?"
Quote:Lol I hear ya. Try rping a gay male. I have more trouble with that than my straight characters -
Quote:I love how your thread title and the first two paragraphs of your post only hint at what the heck you are talking about. Yes, let us refer to the entire topic of our conversation with nothing more than a pronoun, it will be fantastic. It would be like if a doctor went out to talk to the family of a patient with a mysterious illness and hinted that they know what is killing them, but kept saying "it" instead of actually naming the disease. Hyperbole? Yeah, of course, but that doesn't make the OP any less indirect, does it?I have personally run the Midnighter's arc many times solo and twice now with a team. Every time solo, she is very predictable and easy to protect.
However, on a team (whether 2 or 8), she seems to just run all over the place. What gives?
In fact, if you read the first paragraph in a strictly grammatical way... the only real object to which "she" could be referring is the "Midnighter's Arc" itself or your team. But, I have never heard an arc or a team referred to as a she. Either way, it gives a pretty comical reading to your post.
I believe, the name you are looking for, you know, the entire subject of your post, is: Lady Jane. -
Considering Demon Summoning is basically a direct clone of Thugs (though I cannot reveal the source of my information)... I could see Electric Control also being a direct clone of another control set... that way the only "heavy lifting" was on Dual Pistols and Kinetic Melee.

I'll try...
'Net Gibberish --> English:
Wow, that was rough, Sharker. Did my best. -
Oh man, I have seen so many... I shall have to start compiling a list now.
Any name that begins or ends with a hyphen or period. How about any name that is all in caps and includes a space betwixt the letters. I hate both of those "styles." -
Quote:That could be it too... I guess I glossed over the sociological explanation and went straight for the personal. Media does have a huge impact, and we white guys really suck up a lot of that arena... and them there straights take up a very large chunk of that arena too (most all of it in fact).I'd imagine it would be generally easy to write/RP a member of the dominant social group due to them CONSTANTLY telling everyone every single nuance of their experience in every way possible, whilst constantly telling you that it's a story that NEEDS to be told. :P
(as a culture, that is)
I think I could RP a white man pretty well. -
I haven't done a helluva lot of RPing in my time, but when it comes to this game, a great deal of the characters are just "Me+Superpowers," so, no, those aren't hard at all to do the extremely light RP that I sporadically do.
However, I have also been the guy who roots for the villain to win in comics and on TV because they are usually much more interesting to me than the (so often) one dimensional hero (not that villains can't also be one dimensional). Soooo, to get back around to the question: when I do have a character who has a distinctly different moral character than my own, I don't think I would be any worse at RPing him than I would any other character I do (aka, I will still suck at it).
Now, ask me if I think I could RP the opposite gender... I really don't think I could, which is weird, I think. I mean, I can RP a straight male just fine... which should be more of a stretch to me than RPing a girl (me being gay and all). Perhaps it is because I spent like 15 years or so RPing a straight male in RL... I will never know for sure.
