Ahhh... so one of those. You give them money, and then expect to get exactly what you want. I think you might have forgotten that they provide the product/service and THEN you pay for it, not the otherway around. Their technical commitment to your happiness actually kinda ends once you hand over the cash. Yes, I realize that they need to maintain your happiness to continue to stay in business... but this particular issue seems like a lame one to use to draw a line in the sand.

And to me, it isn't really hypocrisy. It's business. (Something you seem perfectly okay to abuse, and yet you are criticising THEM for hypocrisy?)

Hmmm... did anyone else notice how similar the dimensional naming scheme is to the naming of various Malta personnell?

Helix Black 08-08, for instance? Name Name #-# sure seems like a consistant formula to me. I am certain it is due to a similar (perhaps the same) mind on the development team at the time coming up with it... but that ruins a lot of the fun.

As for why Portal Corp. portals continue to only place people back onto Earth? I really think you folks are getting waaaaaay too complicated with this variety of comic book physics.

What if all of the various "realities" or dimensions occupy the same space? We are unable to see them, because we (and everything else) are out of phase with the other dimension. They "vibrate" or oscilate or do the macarena in a different way, and therefore are invisible. Perhaps, the Portals don't "move" you at all... but instead simply change your "phase" so that you can react to the new dimension properly. Could it be, then, that the designation, is instead a "modulation" that tunes one to a universe's frequnency?

Then, Alpha Gamma 00-89 would adjust one dial to 01 another to 04 another to 00 and a final one to 89? This would mean that it could be a sort of notation for a decimal number... one that is apt to be used as a name, and is easier to keep track of then 1.000042342123299 Hz, or whatever.

Maybe the portal has a "range." It is based on Earth in a given building, perhaps the other end has to dump off a certain finite distance from the "source"... but measured from the same location in the new universe. If this distance is small enough, than all Portal Corp portals would dump out on Earth.

Which, brings up the question of places like the Shadow Shard. Perhaps if you layed out that particular "universe" over ours, you'd find that Firebase Zulu happens to land where Earth is in our universe.

It makes a certain kinda sense that the portal would have a sort of tether like that.

So.... you'd start the game as a Mender of Ouroboros?

I am pretty sure that you will have two slots unlocked (which does nothing to help people out who already have 36 slots on their favorite server).

Also, doesn't that statement guarantee that there will be "new" Epic/Patron Pools? I mean, there is NO pool at the moment that a Corruptor would get on heroside, seeing as how it isn't a hero AT. Likewise for Patrons. What pool would a Tanker get if he got to 41 and was a Villain? I think this pretty much assures that there will be new collections of Epics and Patrons (though they may or may not have any new powers in them, just a new configuration of existing ones). Besides, for a bit, Stalkers on test had access to Epic Pools when respec-ed, and it was not an existing Epic Pool... I rest my case.

I think I missed a couple "not"s and "don't"s and things with my initial reading. Guess I was pretty tired.

And that line, being phrased the way it was, made me think you were taking issue with the game disagreeing with the novels/comics. Maybe that is where I was coming from?

Actually... I thought I remember that as well. I want to say that it is in some of the "Ask about this contact" information from Darrin Wade or perhaps Montague, but I feel like I could just be imagining it.

Both his similarity of name, as well as the fact that the Mysterious Writer's letter appears in his arc... and that he mysteriously has a clone factory? There are a bunch of unanswered questions about him and Thomas Mane, as far as I'm concerned.

If you are questioning why I included that little bit of uselessness, it is to make sure that that particular avenue did not lead to a Mender [Something] that we could then expect to find as perhaps the Mysterious Writer, or some such. Also, it would be kinda cool if we could get Silmon to form a Mender name but NOT Nemesis.

However, I am glad you will enjoy the read. I am hoping other folks with more outlandish or interesting theories than I have will chime in here.

With that said, what do we, as players, know about these folks? What are their connections, if any? What role do they play in the greater picture of CoH/V Lore? What is the Coming Storm? Might it be the invasion of our world by Tyrant? Is it an invasion of not-Rikti aliens whose ships run on Kheldians?

Basically, I invisioned this thread as one in which all of our collective ponderings could kinda go crazy.

I think we all know that Lord Nemesis anagrams into Mender Silos. We also know that Leonard Silmon can't get us to Nemesis, we are short by "ES" and have an extra "ALON." If you take the word "Mender" out of Leonard Silmon... you are short an "E" and left with "ALISON." So... is there some kinda anagram there too?

Dr. Aeon and Silmon:
Have we all noticed that Leonard's gloves are identical (outside of color) to Aeon's signature gauntlets... Does this mean anything? Also, is it significant that the gauntlets shift from pure black at some points in the arc to black with blue piping (similar to Aeon's white with blue piping) and then back to black again?

Yeah, pretty much. Niether one is what we might call modest... and one is having some action from any dang woman that can still move.

That's the only comment you could muster in opposition to this idea?

Personally, while I don't think the idea is explained or as fleshed out as it could be, it does have merit. It would be nice, to have maybe 3 extra powers per powerset to add in a bit more variability. Maybe I don't want [Bonfire] I could pick one of these alternate powers instead. Would it be a lot of work? Probably, but it would also add a lot more build fexibility that one would get waaaaay before hitting 41 and the Epic pools.

Give the idea a chance, and help him flesh it out instead of berrating it on it's face before he even gets it off the ground. People needn't post an idea ONLY after it is flawless. After all, what would there be to discuss? I think we should start to encourage active brainstorming in the Suggestions forum a lot more than we do... instead of simply flashing our e-peens and making people feel like sub-human morons for not thinking of everythign before posting an idea.
