  1. Get yourself a copy of Herostats and you'll be suprised at just how much higher your accuracy is than you think.

    Base for PvE is 75%, so until you get DOs and SOs slotted you'll find you're only hitting 60-75% of the time against most foes, but it always seems like much less.

    It gives me a ~20% heal every ~10 seconds, plus it does some damage and has a -acc component. Without a self-heal in the secondary it's very useful.

    I've never really been of the "Aid Self" party, but I have heard of its benfits (Namely that it makes a ludicrous difference to your survivability). I might try it out, but it's not something that really fits with my playstyle.

  10. I only even really used Build Up for Alpha strikes and against AVs - I'm sure it does make a difference but not big enough to justify taking it over any of the other powers in the sets.

    You can't - for the moment at least. It's a known issue with I7, which the devs are working to resolve.

    My tanky build

    More than 3 of any enhancement type in a power is a waste. Take the 4th RES and DMG enhancements out and either move the slots or replace them with something more useful like End Reduction or Accuracy.

    Sure you can tank at Lv6, but you sure as hell can't do it without supporting buffs and debuffs. Personally, I really don't like having to rely on the rest of my team to keep me alive, especially in PuGs and *especially* at lower levels.

    All the other ATs can be self-sufficient in a team from the get go. Sure, if you're careless with aggro you end up dead, but that's always been the case. Tankers, on the other hand, simply don't have the defences pre-SOs and certainly pre-DOs to be able to take on a full spawn of most villain groups (varying by powerset) for the duration it takes for the rest of the team to take them down, without direct support.

    I get it, Tankers are screwed from the outset - if you make them able to do their job in teams without defenders/controllers being mandatory, then they're overpowered solo - but there have been endless solutions to this problem suggested by players both here and in the US.

    The problem isn't anything really to do with the perceptions of the nerfs - although it can't be absolved of blame entirely. The problem is simply this:

    When most of us were playing tanks in I3, you could pretty much tank from ~Lv10, certainly your early teens. This meant that you could dive in and take the aggro for a whole team, albeit not as well as you would be able to later in the game. We "grew up" with this, we were tanking from the word go and everyone expected it of us.

    Fast forward to now. Tanks really can't tank safely for a full team until they get SOs and even that can be hit and miss depending on the team and the mobs you're facing. New tanks basically have to scrank for half the game because they can't tank. So, they get used to it, their playstyle develops based on scranking, rather than aggro management. After 25 levels of doing it, it's hard to change your habits - equally, other players who have grown up with you don't expect you to be able to tank.

    Despite the constant, soul-destroying nerfs and the massive effect that ED had on single enhancement powers, such as armours, good tankers can still tank. Problem is, that bad tankers can't tank *at all* any more and regardless, in most cases your "tank" has never learnt how to in the first place.

    It's a sad state of affairs not made any easier by veteran tankers spouting off their "But I can still tank on invincible without any problems so you must all be whinging retards if you can't do it too" [censored].

    I can still tank well, that doesn't stop it being bloody hard for a) New players to the archetype and b) People without min/maxed builds.

    Permafrost does give Slow RES, but so do Wet Ice and Energy Absorption - i.e. Unless you've got several stacked slows on you, you're never going to notice the extra from Permafrost.
  24. If you want Orbiting Death, don't take it until after Eclipse or it's nothing more than a debt magnet. Shadow Cloak is good, but personally I found that I needed SuperSpeed to avoid being spotted, especially on closed maps.
