    Need some advice

    Not if you've sensibly got space for them - and by sensibly I mean you don't have to skip any important powers to get them.

    I often take SS as my Lv49 power on toons for the simple reason that a) I've usually got Hasten already, b) I don't have anything else that I really want to take and c) It doesn't need to have any extra slots spent on it.

    If you are facing a brute, I would play an ice tank. They are best a limiting the fury build up (defence based, slows for reducing the attacks that hit, and end drain which can be a brutes bane). Its still hard tho.

    However, a 20% heal is very handy if your sets don't provide any other heal. Aid Self is useful, but having 2 heals is even more useful - especially having an uninteruptable one that doubles as an acc debuff *and* does a small amount of damage (About the same as Shadow Punch). Handy for finishing off mobs and getting a heal kick out of it.

    Mmmm, Air superiority I have on my controller, got it at 49 just so I can knock any flying enemies out of the air, it's a decent power and actually deals alright damage... For a controller. :P

  6. I'd echo the concerns about Shadow Maul. With that current setup you're giving yourself a 3 attack chain for 32 levels, which isn't a lot (Brawl & Siphon Life are only really 0.5 of an attack as they don't do much damage and you won't slot them for it anyway).

    Timing wise it's doable, especially with Lightning Reflexes, but you might find yourself taking an age to down things.

    Also remember that you get a *lot* of extra slots post-40, so it's worth looking at a PP now, even if it's just a placeholder.

    You can probably get away without Stamina - Dark Consumption will fill your bar with 3 minions (unslotted) and has almost 0 cost (Though it is only up every 60 seconds). At the very least you can push it later and move Soul Drain or Shadow Maul up your list somewhat.

    Almost - I was playing the other day with another Kin defender and with 3 Siphon Speeds and Speed Boost I had about 10 seconds downtime on Hasten.

    A Hero's Lament

    I remember a time not so long ago, before heroism was something that everyone tried their hand at, when heroes were respected, renowned, some even worshipped. Back then, being a hero was a difficult life - one was usually forced into it in some way or another - and while ordinary people didn't always appreciate the fact, it had a certain dignity to it. When you were saved by a hero, you knew who they were and you damn well remembered them for the rest of your life. There were never any question of being in it for personal gain, it was a duty that you were happy to fulfil.

    These days...every Tom, Dick or Harry with a novel party trick thinks they're a hero. You can't move around Atlas Park square for the number of new 'heroes' queuing up to register themselves - most of them don't even last a week before they vanish, never to be seen again. Most just underestimate how hard the work is; they only see the fame and glamour and not the grind and the sacrifice. Now that being saved by a hero is so commonplace, people have become complacent - after all, what's the point in going to the effort of looking after yourself when someone else can do it for you? They never remember who saved them from one day to the next; it's just expected now that someone will do it. Even the papers have stopped reporting all but the most significant of hero activities on the front pages - you know something is wrong when the Sundays come with a Hero supplement summarising what's been going on in the world of super powers that week.

    Maybe I'm just old. A tired hero who long ago reached the supposed pinnacle of Security Level 50 and realised that it really didn't mean that much in the grand scheme of things. Regardless, nobody sees heroes as anything special any more - most won't even bother to thank me if I save them from certain death, let alone something 'minor' like a mugging. Whatever happened to a bit of gratitude?
  12. You'd be suprised about not needing Conserve Power; I've got stamina, dark consumption & energy drain and I still burn through endurance at a ludicrous rate.

  14. Well I hit 32 over the weekend as well - he's going well and on occasion can survive insane amounts of incoming damage whilst wiping out mobs with a couple of hits. On the other hand, one second of bad luck and he crumples worryingly quickly.

    The only real problem I've had so far are CoT, especially spectrals, as their Negative RES and Psychic damage make them extremely dangerous.

    And yet somehow I can solo red ones with my DM/EA brute, I'm not entirely sure how though.
  18. Yes, the damage they do is affected by fury.
  19. Remember that DoT auras only generate fury for the first tick.
  20. I suspect you'd be pushing it without Conserve Power.
  21. You have to remember that EA will double stack, so you're atually looking at almost 10% extra DEF from 3-slotting.

    Correct. Only the MM version of PFF has been nerfed. The FF and Epic versions are untouched.
