If you're using SOs or common IOs, 3 is the most you should be slotting of any given enhancement type. Things change slightly if you're using IO sets, but the best way to tell in that case is to use Mids'.
Tough Hide probably only needs 2 because the base value is pretty small so that 3rd slot isn't giving you much of a return (0.5% Defence with Lv50 common IOs) and could probably be more effectively used elsewhere. Invincibility is a bit trickier because although the base is lower than Tough Hide, it stacks based on the number of mobs around you, but even then you're only looking at ~1% extra defence from that extra slot with 10 mobs. -
Never built a Stone tank before but I've always liked the idea of running one sans-Granite as a sort of "Ice Tank with more regen, no psi-hole and a ****** travel power".
The below build gives me softcapped S/L/E/N/P with ~40% S/L/F/C RES, 480% Regen & 3368HP with Earth's Embrace. The only real sacrifice I'm making is a lack of recharge bonuses, but without Granite it's hopefully not such a big problem.
Suggestions/Criticism/Abuse is welcome.

Thing is, it's all very disconnected from the supposed events.
Picture it this way; my Warshade speaks to Twilight's Son who informs her that, at some point in the distant future, her entire race will be enslaved. This seems bad. "What can I do to help?" she asks. "Well if you could just run a series of tedious errands for me that have no recognisable link to any of the stuff I've just told you, that would be great". At this point she's likely to say "Screw this, I'm off to abuse some more Roman corpses". -
If nothing else, it doesn't require any extra slots to be useful (always good on a WS) and can be used as a LoTG +Recharge mule.

You forgot the Ouroboros TFs:
Twilight's Son
Mender Lazarus
Mender Silos
And as a partial solution: Make the bloody Shadow Shard co-op(Yes, it would require some reworking of the TFs because some of the missions are in Paragon, but it's not a massive amount of work, just move the doors into the Shard & change of couple of the contacts).

Similar question was just asked here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=256387
Short version, if it's just for CoH and nothing else then you might just be OK, but otherwise you'll probably find yourself short come the end of the month. -
Google: Learn to use it.
The very first result for "internet explorer operation aborted" this this Microsoft KB article about IE7: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927917
Quote:More specifically:[...]Answer: Internet Explorer 7 cannot display a particular element on a Web page on that Web site.
How do I fix this problem?
The easiest way for you to fix the problem is to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8. This problem no longer occurs in Internet Explorer 8.
Quote:This problem occurs because a child container HTML element contains script that tries to modify the parent container element of the child container. The script tries to modify the parent container element by using either the innerHTML method or the appendChild method. -
Run the following from a cmd window:Code:It won't appear to be doing much, but give it 4 or 5 minutes and it'll return you back to the prompt and if you check your desktop you'll have a text file with all the info you need to provide in it.
pathping boards.cityofheroes.com > %userprofile%\desktop\coh.txt
FYI the reason for dumping to a text file rather than outputting to the console is that pathping typically outputs lines that are too long for the standard console width, which makes it hard to read.
Also, you can just run:Code:tracert boards.cityofheroes.com

Someone's avatar or signature hosting maybe? I'm not getting any hits for profilebrand.com on any of the pages I'm browsing and there's nothing being flagging in Adblock, Noscript or Ghostery for it.
-
I've just had the same problem, but didn't find this thread until after it started working again and didn't take any traces. Next time it happens, if it does, I'll run a few pathpings from my PC and a couple of other locations I've got access to and see if I can track down the source of the problem.
The fact that everyone seems to be "fixing" this by changing the DNS servers suggests that it could be a caching issue. -
Quote:90% of security questions are only ever used in "forgotten password" scenarios - which is actually slightly worse than using them as part of the logon process - and as I keep all my passwords in secure storage I never need that process, thus I didn't bother to record my answers to the questions.I have no idea what to say to that. At least it's quoted for posterity.
Then some idiot site decided to do what NCSoft have done, only they at least bothered to give notice before enabling it, so after that I started recording the non-answers that I gave for security questions, but couldn't necessarily remember all the places I'd previously given them in order to go back and record them all (at least for the places that even *let* you change the answers to your security questions).
Security questions are bad security. No two ways about it. They are neither something you have nor something you know, they are in fact something that anyone knows. Finding out someone's maiden name, city of birth or pet's name is trivial these days, especially as most people have no problem with plastering that information all over Facebook. -
Quote:My problem is that as a rule I refuse to provide "correct" answers to security questions* and up until a couple of years ago didn't make a note of the answers I did provide. Please don't presume to speak for everybody. I also keep all that information, and I keep it in multiple locations.
*Security questions are not the same as, as good as, or a suitable replacement for two factor authentication, in fact they weaken security by making it easier for 3rd parties to gain information about how to access your account because facts about you are much easier to find out that what is essentially an entirely arbitrary password</rant> -
5 Gb/month over 20 hours give you a theoretical sustained maximum of 146kbit/s if I've done my maths right - ((5*1024*1024)/(80/60/60))*8 - though real-world usage with overheads will probably make it a bit less than that.
Game usage is, give or take, about 30-80kbit/s depending on what's going on, which is about 2Gb/80 hours. So, I'd say it's doable, but you'd have to be careful with your non-CoH usage so as not to hit your limit as you can get through 2.5Gig of data pretty quick if you're not paying attention.
-
As do I, but AFAIK any code that you've applied to the game, from the original CoH through the recent booster packs and GR will do this resetting your account access and even if you don't have any of those the support guys will usually find other ways to verify your account info and get you access.

Quote:30 levels of Devouring Earth? What could we POSSIBLY have that could fill in another 30 levels' worth of content? Because I see nothing of the sort even hinted at.
Actually, now that I think about it, Praetoria has a huge scope for future level content as long as you move its story forward. Have Cole defeated in i21 and then have other zones in other cities across Praetorian Earth with their own issues as the whole world fights to take back the planet from Hamidon & the DE.
Cole's defeat would leave a huge power vacuum to be filled, allowing you to bring in virtually any new factions you wanted to without too much crowbarring and you've then got a whole new "world" to work with.
The only issue I can see is that "killing off" the Praetorian regime might cause issues with the old pre-i21 praetorian content, but you can always cheat that using Ouroboros as an excuse; multiple timelines, yadda yadda.
Praetoria as it stands may be a content dead end, but as long as the devs are willing to take some risks I think it could be a fertile ground for future expansion. -

Quote:Good point, forgot about that. However, given that you get a free month for GR and (in the UK at least) it was available for ~£2 more than 1 month's subscription, it's something of a no-brainerImportant note: You have to have purchased the Going Rogue expansion in order to do this. If you do not have it, you cannot gain Incarnate abilities.
GR also allows you to change the alignment of your toons, allowing them to swap from Hero to Villain & back, or to sit on the fence as a Rogue/Vigilante with access to both Paragon & the Rogue Isles (Though you get better rewards for Hero/Villain alignment than Rogue/Vigilante). -
Quote:Speak to Mender Ramiel in Ouroboros and complete the Incarnate intro arc. You then need to acquire Incarnate salvage with which to craft Alpha enhancements. The 3rd and 4th Tier enhancements are what give you the "+1". See Here for more info.-How do i get up to that +1 level after 50 or am i already there?
Less than you might expect or more than you needIt really depends entirely on what you need for your build - as ever, Mids' Hero Planner is your friend when it comes to working that out.
That's really up to you; there's plenty of stuff going on with TF runs, Mothership Raids and the like as well as regular teams; I'd suggest joining a couple of populous Global channels for your server and asking around to see what's happening.
And welcome back -
Quote:Well the classic is to have all the build up with your cosmic big bad, finally take him down and then find out that there was actually an even more powerful evil force behind him and that he was just a puppet. Problem is, they've kind of blown that one by announcing from the get go that that's exactly what's going onOnly thing I don't like about this story is that Cole is now Cosmic Cole. That came outta left field. Other than that, I loved GR and the new TFs. I just wish it wouldn't take up five/six issues like how the Devs seem to plan on it.
What remains to be seen is how well they handle the rest of the plotline and how long they try and drag it out for. They need to be careful to avoid the "Well puppet of the week" trap, because once Cole is gone (at least this time around) they're going to have to find a way to keep the Well featured (so the Incarnate stuff still makes sense) but without rehashing the same story over again. Unless they fill the last 3 incarnate slots in i21 and wrap up the whole incarnate thing in one go, of course. -
In the first pic it looks like the Tendrils aura, but the second one doesn't look right for that.

For all the market's flaws (for there are many), capping prices like that would completely break the supply/demand model. Common salvage only goes for 100k when either a) there's lots of demand and very little supply or b) people are idiots. Unfortunately a lot of people are idiots.
The biggest problem with the market that leads to price inflation is that you have to pay to list items, which you don't get back if you unlist them. This discourages you from unlisting items even if they're listed for well over their "market value" because you don't want to lose the inf you've spent. Additionally, things never stop being listed unless you unlist them yourself.
This is fine as long as there's supply, you just never sell your items, but once supply dries up or there's a spike in demand and yours is the only item left, people with lots of disposable inf and not much patience will bid high enough to buy it, meaning that there's a sudden jump in the "last 5" prices and other people start listing their items at that price because they think that's the "normal" price and so it goes on.
Of course, the fact that none of the items have any intrinsic value means that pricing is something of a crapshoot at the best of times anyway. -
You'll also want to check and make sure you're not spanning your desktop across the two displays, as opposed to Windows treating them as separate monitors.

Quote:The game executables are identical, however, the updaters - despite being identical files - are named .exe for the US and .eu.exe for the EU client. One presumes that the name of the executable used to launch the updater is how it determines which switches to use to launch the game, which patchserver to hit for updates and where in the registry to grab things like the "latest news" page URL from. You sure about that Ohms? It is my understanding that the actual programs for cityofheroes and cohupdater are actually identical but that the NA ones have the extension .exe while the EU ones have the extension .eu.exe
It is that extension that tells the programs which server to connect to. This may have changed with the change over to the nclauncher through.
