Not really sure where the best place to put this is, so it's going here...
Following a very polite collaring in-game a few days ago by somebody asking about my (then legacy) chatlog parser I have taken literally several minutes to update it for i20 and also to publish the source. See the link in my sig for more information.
The goal behind this is twofold; firstly to allay the fears of those who thought I might be capturing all their chatlog data (I'm not, nothing is stored server-side, and based on past experience other people's conversations are pretty boring anyway) and secondly in the hope that someone with more time, more skill and more time than me might make it better.
One of the problems I've come across is that a lot of the "newer" channels (Wentworths, Villain Zone Alerts - though oddly not Hero Zone Alerts) don't "tag" themselves like the others do, making it very hard to parse them out of the logs reliably without grabbing a lot of "noise" along with them - if anyone has any suggestions on how to capture them effectively I'd welcome it.
I have considered making it into a proper standalone application rather than web-hosted, but as it stands I simply don't have the time to dedicate to it at the moment, as much as I might like to. Again, anyone is welcome to take my existing (and pretty shoddy) code and use as a basis for something similar; attribution is all I ask.
Comments and (constructive) criticism are welcome. The largest log I've tested it with is ~7mb (largest I have to hand) but in principle there's no reason it can't handle much larger ones, subject to the limits of your browser's textarea support and my server's willingness to play ball.
Edit: OK, it's actually limited to 24Mb at the moment due to php's post_max_size directive; can always up it if there's a need though. -

Mine's done that for the last couple of months...just assumed it was broken.
Still been getting the popups for the changes to WST though - so maybe there just isn't a GMOTD to see at the moment. -
Been doing it for me since I came back to the game (Feb) and across my old desktop, laptop and newly upgraded desktop. I know other people I've spoken to have the same issue, not managed to work out why.

A few things of note:
6-slotting Eclipse like that it probably a bit of a waste - the End reductions aren't really doing anything at all because the base cost is so low and you're wasting a lot of the RES on ED.
Stygian Circle's heal is 80% base so even one heal IO will put you over 100% (mob typed permitting); EndMod is a better choice as that only has a 20% base.
Your perma-eclipse/perma-hasten is dependent on the Force Feedbacks which are in clickies with slowish recharges and only have a 10% chance for +Recharge which I suspect will mean that in practice you're not perma either all the time (which means, inevitably, when it really matters)
Essence Drain is pretty terrible (both damage and heal-wise) until (if) it gets buffed in line with Siphon Life so it's probably not worth it unless you're stuck for powers to take.
Quasar is a bit pointless if you're not going to slot it, but I presume that's a "Need to pick *something* choice" rather than something you're intending to use as part of your attack chain. You might want to consider SJ/Acro in place to give you better KB and hold protection, though you might be OK KB-wise with the mag 8 you've got. -
There's a bug/issue/whatever with Win 7 x64 and the CoH updater (not the NCSoft Launcher). If you can't/don't want to use the launcher, copy the cohupdater.exe and cityofheroes.exe to your desktop or some other handy location and run the updater from there - once it's all patched and good to go you can delete those files (plus any others it's created) and run the updater from the original game directory again.

My Praetorian toons have all had the "Epic Archetype Unlocked" banner on reaching 20 (though I already had them unlocked, so who can say if it actually unlocked anything).
-
Same reason for changing accountnames and globals the way they did - would be a massive amount of work to go through every single one and identify which ones are "biggest" so they have to automate it some way.
-
Without knowing what you haven't missed it's hard to know what you have
-
Offhand: KB protection in permafrost is pointless - Wet Ice already handles that nicely.
Not slotting KO Blow for any damage is a shame, same with Haymaker.
Slotting EA for taunt instead of at least some EndMod is madness
Health & Stamina have much better base values than Physical Perfection so you're better off slotting them.
In short, it looks like you've gimped yourself trying to slot for defence that you don't really need. -
Remember that Ice will get murdered against high level DE, Rularuu, Multi-Venged Nemesis or anything else with very high ToHit buffs (DE Quartz emanators have been broken for years now to the point that it's not even worth running your toggles).
Also, fight Ice Mistral a lot and live for the Christmas Events -
Are you running 64-bit? If so then there's a "known" quirk with the updater that can cause problems - never worked out why but it's an easy workaround. Not sure if it still applies if you're using the new NCSoft Launcher.

You can set the resolution for CoH manually in HKCU:\Software\Cryptic\Coh\
The values you want are ScreenX and ScreenY which are the horizontal and vertical resolutions respectively. For EU users it's euCoh instead of just Coh.
You could also just set the fullScreen value to 0 which will cause it to run Windowed and allow you to easily resize it to just short of your desktop resolution and/or change the display settings ingame. -
Quote:I think it's the usual case that having 6 teams of 4 good players is no less likely to succeed than having 3 teams of 8 and equally no matter how you arrange 24 bad players, it's going to end in failureOh I've seen a few failures so far regardless. I guess my main point was that using "4 teams of 6" probably wouldn't lead to an automatic success or failure all by itself. The trial leader would still be responsible for making sure the 4 teams were doing the right things at the right time.

Do what I've been doing lately; get together with a bunch of friends, start new toons and work your way through things like The Hollows, Striga and all the other content that nobody ever does these days because they're PLing in AE or running WSTs for the bonus XP all the time. It's actually really good fun and kind of nostalgic.
We spent a good 15 minutes on Frostfire just playing with the Ice slides (Ice slidey Mekman pets are awesome, BTW) - Devs, if you're paying attention, MORE MAPS WITH ICE SLIDES!.

Quote:PST is -8 GMT, except it's actually PST under DST, which is -8 to BST - amounts to the same either way - and means that the times for Union are correct and the times for Defiant are wrong. It's being done on all servers (now?) but I still don't understand the Time Conversion for this one:
Wednesday, May 11th, 2011
Time: 10am - 1pm Pacific Time (6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. British Time)
Server: Union
Thursday, May 12th, 2011
Time: 10am - 1pm Pacific Time (4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. British Time)
Server: Defiant
So Union and Defiant have the same start time NA side but not EU side? I am confuzzled. Granted it's a day later but seems odd.
Which way they're wrong is another matter entirely. -
Quote:Support will not (seemingly because they don't have the tools to be able to) delete or rename any accounts anywhere for any reason.I'm in the same boat. I have a US trial account which is the same name as my account name which was made years and years ago. Has anyone asked about being allowed to change their normal account name if they aren't able to delete the trial account?
i.e. Unless the devs provide them with the facility to do so, we're not going to be able to do anything to fix account name collisions with our own accounts. -
Yes, especially when you consider that you get a month free with it

Quote:Oh well.Once created, it is not possible to remove a game or change the name of the account on your NCsoft master account.
Therefore we would not be able to change the name on your European account, or delete the US account -
As per: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc512587.aspx
Once your machine is compromised by something like FakeAV, you're much better off just rebuilding it from scratch and making sure you secure it properly 2nd time around. -
Quote:Mine's been "escalated", haven't heard anything more since. Fingers crossed.Raise a ticket. Despite what Beastyle says, it's worth a shot. If enough people do that and ask nicely for something to be done, it might help push them to change their minds.
Just make sure you make it clear that the inactive account is on the same master account. It's probably the only incidence where we have a chance of persuading them to change policy.
