I'm assuming that's 5 Billion Inf rather than Dollars? Because if not then that's awesome

One thing I completely forgot to suggest; Global Channels.
Have a look in the "Servers" section of the forums for whichever server you're playing on and have a look around for the server-specific global channels on offer as they're an excellent way to find teams/events and also ask for advice - they also allow you to start characters on one server without losing touch with what's happening on others (As the global channels are always available, whichever server or character you're logged into). -
-
There are two tabs in the LFG window now, one for "regular" trials and one for "incarnate" trials.
-
I have to agree about the tiered unlocking; they need something explicit in game that says "When you complete this tier you unlock access to X, Y & Z". I can't even find any official documentation that explains it anywhere, all I've found outside of random forum threads is this: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Paragon_Rewards_Program

Just one other thing I thought of:
Never believe anything anyone tells you in game about how CoH works, because most of the time it's wrong
Or, more specifically, double-check anything anyone tells you in game about how CoH works because as with any game there's a huge amount of misinformation and misunderstanding out there. The old classic being "Don't click the glowies on the Respec trial, it makes the final room harder", which of course it doesn't, but it persisted as "fact" for years (and probably still does). -
Oh, those people exist, they're just not a prevalent in this game as some others
You do sometimes get build or powerset zealots who'll refuse to let you join their team because they want an "X" Defender instead of a "Y" Defender for example, but it's pretty rare.
Honestly though, I would give Mids a play even at this point in your career if for no other reason than to get an idea of what powersets are available to you and to help avoid making the kinds of silly mistakes that we all made when we started playing (Though it's a lot better these days now that you can actually see what powers *do* before you take them).
For some idea of how Mids is viewed around here, take a look at today's thread announcing the release of an updated version with all the Issue 21 changes in it: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=273029 - we really do love it that much -
There is no "required" team makeup; you can have an All Blaster team, an All Tanker team, a 7 Storm Defenders and a Scrapper Team (If you hate the scrapper
).
Just about any combination of powersets and archetypes can complete just about any challenge in the game (with a few extreme exceptions) as long as the players know what they're doing and have reasonable builds.
Also, Mids, Mids, a thousand times Mids. -
First up, you don't have to go anything too drastic about the IO builds, just use the 2nd or 3rd Build options to recreate your build with SOs (so that you don't "lose" your IO build if you choose to re-sub/pay/unlock through Vet rewards later).
Secondly, Salvage/Recipe drops and AH access don't kick in until the end of T4, I believe (the problem being that it doesn't tell you in the interface *or* on the summary on the Freedom site, which is dumb and needs changing ASAP), so you won't have been getting drops because you wouldn't have been able to do anything with them unless you'd unlocked AH access.
Edit: As per, Paragonwiki has the details: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Paragon_Rewards_Program - I was right, it is the end of T4 that you get AH access. -
Quote:Yes, but equally it's like having to spend 10 minutes rifling through your toolbox trying to find a specific screwdriver; yes, you discover all kinds of weird and wonderful things like that Coax crimping tool and that socket set for a 1973 Ford Cortina, but all you wanted was that bloody screwdriverUmmm... okay. Not really sure why.
Personally... I LIKE looking for the new parts, it's like opening presents when you know there is a really good one hiding around someplace! -
What upset? They're getting everything else *FOR FREE*.
If they're upset then they're fundamentally misunderstanding the premise of the game model. -
The latter seems to make more sense; he didn't seem quite so resigned to death (well, the death in question anyway) in Let's Kill Hitler which suggests it was still some distance away.

Quote:If you continue paying your subscription, nothing changes. The only way something changes is if you stop paying. In which case you're *BETTER* off than you would have been previously if you'd stopped paying.okay let me put it like this... you get a job.. You work there for 19 years in 3 months you get your pension....Your company sells out to someone else so you still got your job but the company doesn't care you spent 19 years there you got to work another 20 to get a pension now. Hell you feel lucky to keep your hourly rate.. But now their changing your insurance coverage...
Yeah that is actually pretty much how I feel But the sad thing is is that this company wasn't bought out their just taking away my pension and screwing with my life insurance. -
I've said it before and everyone's ignored me, but I'll say it again anyway:
Prior to Freedom if you stopped paying a subscription you lost access to *EVERYTHING* you'd previously purchased.
Post Freedom if you stop paying a subscription, you lose access to *SOME* things you've previously purchased.
One of these is clearly an improvement over the other yet people seem convinced that they've somehow been stiffed. I'm not sure there's anything that can be done to convince them otherwise. -
Right, I'm out, the comprehension fail is far more than I can cope with.

Quote:Only the Tier 9 repeatable rewards will be changed from time to time, all the lower tiers will remain the same, so you won't have anything changing in terms of stuff you've already claimed.I believe it was mentioned somewhere that the Paragon Rewards table contents would be changed from time to time. My questions is, should anyone know, will VIP's be able to immediately claim new table contents, or have to work up badges again? (ie, if I claimed everything, including tier 9 VIP, when tables change would I be able to reclaim every new item, or would I have to start from 0 tokens?)
-
This is not other games, it's this game. They can put a model in place whereby dropping from VIP to Premium causes them to send someone around to your house and break your legs if they want to, doesn't mean that it's not a real system or that you have to like it or participate in it.

Quote:Well of course; the only way to make money from a F2P game is either to sell players lots of stuff or convince them to subscribe (if you offer such things). The challenge is to give them enough stuff for free that they'll want to play, but not so much that they won't see any reason to pay.Lets be honest here, premium status sucks unless you are tier 7 and above. Reson being you loose access to the invention system. So any premium player returning that has fully iod toon will have their builds reduced to uselessness. So just keep in mind that the plan was to make premium and f2p account as unattractive as they can so you buy stuff from them. Taking away incarnates is part of that plan. So its either A. Play the game you love with a sub. B. Play a crappy version for free. The choice is yours.

Rundll32.exe is a generic process for executing code so it could be "hosting" just about anything.
Give http://live.sysinternals.com/autoruns.exe a run and it should help you identify what is loading the rundll32 processes at startup.
You could also use http://live.sysinternals.com/procexp.exe to check live.
It sounds like either Malware or buggy drivers/browser plugins offhand. -
Quote:It has 100% to do with subscribing. Prior to Freedom, if you stopped subscribing you lost access to *everything* you had previously purchased. Post Freedom, if you stop subscribing, you lose access to *some* things depending on your Vet status plus Incarnate content.GR had nothing to do with a monthly sub. It was a one off payment for an expansion. That has 0% to do with subscribing.
I'm not saying it's fair that you can't get access to the Incarnate content without re-subbing, but this idea that people deserve all the stuff for free just because the payment model has changed is laughable.
