What they *actually* said was that it's a known vBulletin issue with v3, that they've got support cases open with Jelsoft, but there's nothing they can do directly to fix it so bugging them about it won't help, but bugging Jelsoft about it might.

Why is it that CoX(which has been around for years) is experiencing the type of issues that 99% of other games go through during their initial launch??
1) Hyperbole will get you nowhere. The game has NOT been down more than it's been up recently.
OMG!!! WHAT... Hyperbole does nothing for me???? This is insane! Let me call the news networks! -
Probably because the game essentially is going through its initial launch; they've made huge changes to the basic functionality of the game and it's inevitable that it's going to introduce issues.

Quote:Well they're both "the right one" it's just that the "new" launcher is intended to make the download seem faster by downloading what's needed to launch the game get to the Tutorial first and then grab the rest in the background whilst you're getting started. There's two launchers? Good gawd almighty.... how are people supposed to know this, or know if they are getting the right one? Where IS the right one?
As far as the cursor, I'm running in fullscreen mode. That is the problem; I have to tab back out to see where my cursor is, then click madly till I hit the desired item.
As for the cursor, what graphics card are you running? Are the drivers up to date and do you get the same symptoms if you run Windowed?
Edit: The NCSoft Launcher (rather than the CoHInstaller) is available here: http://us.ncsoft.com/en/launcher/ncsoft-launcher.html and should let you download CoH "fully" but I doubt it'll ultimately be any faster, it just won't let you play until it's fully downloaded. -
Your other option is to by a £15 external IDE caddy with USB/Firewire connectivity so you can still make use of your old drive.
-
Thanks guys, I'll take a look through the builds and see what I can come up with
-
The download will be about 2.5Gb, maybe a bit more.
-
Do you get the same issue with any other server?
-
It was Zwill trying out something with VIP players - some have Gold Names and some don't depending on their primary group (you can actually change it in your UserCP somewhere if you're a subscriber).
-
Most of the toons on Exalted are lowbies and most of the transfers are just people selling PL services, so if you want to get teams it's best to roll new characters.
-
SSAs are 400 Points (£3.40 or whatever dollars - $5?) each so about 1/3rd of a subscription.

Does your laptop have free expansion slots? A lot will have some or all of the RAM surface mounted, which means you can't swap it out for new stuff, only add to it.
The RAM you linked to is fine, assuming you can remove all the existing RAM from your laptop and put in the new stuff. -
Have you got the NCSoft Launcher set to quit after launching the game? It's had a fair few memory leaks that can cause issues with the game if it stays running.

Quote:I have vanilla Chrome 14 and it works OK for me.In Chrome 14 I have JavaScript enabled for all sites, yet I cannot expand the sections for the website navigation.
It works in IE9.
Addendum: I do have Flashblock, but disabling it and restarting the browser did not make the navigation work.
Edit: It also works in IE9 & Seamonkey 2.7a1 Nightlies -
Sorry, what I meant was that they used the TF mechanic rather than normal missions so that they could lock people out of it, not that all Freebies are locked out of all TFs.
-
Normal Missions aren't a problem, but the Sig arcs are technically TFs (which now makes sense as a way to gate them from free players, who'd buy them if they can just piggy back on a VIP's mission?) and if they don't have the Arc purchased (or are VIP) then they can't join the TF.

Quote:Sounds like you've got Javascript disabled or blocked for the site. This webpage isn't working.
http://na.cityofheroes.com/en/index.php#
The old links such as "community" "news" etc don't work. Most notably, there would be no way for a new player to get into forums unless they had a direct link to them. I've been having to go into forums directly. -
Quote:They look like a combination of bad highschool yearbook photos and bad photoshop jobs; not that impressed.Headshots of Avengers characters
I'm not sure anyone told Mark Ruffalo that he's just supposed to hang out in the background until Hulk shows up.
Also, sorry to anyone to through this was about a Hulk/Blue Steel team up. >.>
*EDIT*
And here's some more photos to make this thread a little more worth it. -
Quote:The Stage 4 message is because you've used the Quick Start downloader (which is the default download now AFAIK) and it lets you launch the game before all of the content had been downloaded.Just had to reinstall the game, and it has not been any fun so far. 24 hours of fighting and counting, and I dont even get a badge!
One reason its no fun is because now my cursor is UNDER the game. This is incredibly frustrating. Anyone have any idea how to fix?
Second, although I was finally able to actually get to my character-list, its telling me I can't log any specific character in because "stage 4 must be complete." WHAT? So confused and unhappy....
As for the cursor, are you running in Windowed or Fullscreen mode? -

Quote:Whilst that would be nice I imagine it's also well outside my budgetI won't be able to take a look until I get home late tonight (we work on Mac's at my job), but if you've hit soft cap for all but Psi, then you're already at a good place.
I'll post my build, too. With 10 in range, it has well over Perma-Hasten as well as soft-capped S/L/E/N/F/C (before End Drain). It's a monster. -
Quote:It's more that a lot of F2P, Premium *and* VIP players are wilfully ignorant of the differences between F2P, Premium and VIP. Regular forum-goers make up a small percentage of total players and the information in-game is not as clear as it could be.So what you're saying...is that a lot of F2P players are willfully ignorant over the differences between VIP, Preem, and F2P. It's nice of you being "that guy" who goes around explaining to folks everything they've ignored up to this point, but you're not forced to do so.

Quote:Hey, Feb 2010 is almost 2 years ago and even given the relative stagnation of game tech thanks to the current console generation refusing to die, it's still a lifetime in graphics driver terms"Circa 2010" ....LOL good laugh. Thank you my time traveling friend. I was unaware it was so long ago! =P

Right, I have a DM/EA Brute who's sitting at 50 and needs a rework for the i21 changes, so I'd appreciate a little feedback on the build I've put together bearing in mind the following caveats: No incarnate stuff yet and I'm not sure if there will be and no Purples, PvP sets or HOs.
