Been a few weeks since I did anything with my bases so I haven't noticed this until just now, but I found I couldn't remove items by using the Delete key or unselect an item to be placed by hitting the Escape key. Anyone else noticing this or am I seeing something different here?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just for clarification, You're not trying to sell a storage container that still has something stored in it are you? If so that will prevent it from being sold.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, not the problem here. Was trying to delete an item that I placed in the wrong spot when I couldn't use Escape to prevent placing it at all, as I've been accustomed to.

What i did on a couple of toons was turn off my xp so that i only earned influence and prestiage. It was a great way to earn both for my SG.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think this is a misconception.

If you are exemplared (via Ouroboros, Task Force, or actually helping someone lower than you) you get double influence and (I think) double Prestige .

If you turn off XP I believe you don't get any reward for your selfless action.

... just checked, and it was 16 prestige for a minion with XP turned off and 16 prestige for the minion next to him with XP turned on.

Edited in orange because XP is not prestige.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It is definitely a fairly common misconception and one that hopefully can be cleared up for more people. Thanks for posting confirmation on that, Fulmens.

Oddly enough with all the Task Forces I lead, I never remember to check on Prestige amounts when ex'd down to a lower level. I'll have to check that to see if it really doubles Prestige. If so, I'll be leading a lot more Numina, Hess, Synapse and Citadel TFs than I already do.

    [ QUOTE ]
No worse than starting Numina TF is any other time. Zombie events happen at least every few hours on Virtue most days. Don't know about the rest of the servers, but I know about half of the Numina TFs I've been on since the zombies started last year have hit at least one zombie-induced speed bump.

Rikti invasions don't happen nearly as frequently. The actual fighting also isn't as long because the bombing phase takes up a big chunk of the event instead of being the whole event. And the Rikti events actually offer a useful Accolade.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    2 things:

    - On an invasion weekend, they are nearly constant. You do realize this thread is about an Invasion weekend not random Rikti raids, right?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, I'm completely aware of the topic. Thanks for checking though. I'm all for seeing more Rikti invasions. As for being near constant, it's not really that bad. Sometimes an hour or so between invasions, sometimes more, but it's not like all we have in every zone is invasions for 24 hours a day.

    [ QUOTE ]

    - It's not fighting the raids that will take away from a Numina. It's the series of hunt missions that will be affected when ALL enemies in a zone despawn for the duration of the raid in the zone.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again, this is no different than half of the Numina TFs I've been involved in since the zombie invasions started last year. Usually at least one zone, sometimes more, is disrupted by zombies, like the Numina TF I led last week.

    [ QUOTE ]

I like Rikti raids and zone events in general, but raid weekends tend to be a little obnoxious.

We need a 5th raid that spawns randomly when the new TF/SF is completed. That would be exciting.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Having more random events would lead to people complaining more about those as well, I think. Personally I'd still like to see it.

I liked the Hollows more before the revamp, personally. Some of my toons have run through there, pre-travel power, and before I knew to get the temps from safeguards. It was a very good lesson in learning aggro ranges and how to avoid the aggro, something a lot of players probably could use a lesson in.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Been looking at the new-fangled Hollows you all are speaking of (didn't get a chance to see the old one), and I still think PP did a better job. But, I remember PP with more mobs.... barb-wire pants, uphill both ways, causing massive server lag by side-swiping all the groups and leading them to the dead-end, etc.

On a solid note, thanks to the communities of Freedom (and, to a lesser extent, Virtue) for helping shake off some of my rust! I literally hadn't run a TF since beta and I've been in two this week (and been offered two more, dag burn need for sleep).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unlike Perez Park however, there are actually missions, contacts, and even a Trial, the Cavern of Transcendence, in the Hollows, so there's a real reason to be there. I'll take story arcs over street sweeping almost anytime.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
What I would really like to see, is the after effects of one of these invasions - as opposed to everything going back to status quo.

Have a few months of reconstruction. Broken buildings, destroyed highways, broken war wall sections, having to find trainers in different locations due to the damage.

Then, to go a step further, have missions designed around helping the citizens rebuild.

Having everything go to hell in a hand basket, then flip a switch where everything's normal?
That got old. Badges aside, not much got accomplished during the raid IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Most of that is found already in-game on blue side. It's called Boomtown and nobody goes there because it's a giant burned out waste with no facilities and nothing to do there. Red side gets mishes in the teens that send you to disrupt the reconstruction efforts there I think.

The idea of actually fighting during an invasion is that you're preventing the Rikti from turning every zone into Boomtown clones.
  7. Spending influence at the SG Registrar to get Prestige is the sort of thing you do if there's something you really have to have right now, kinda like paying the listed rate for anything on the market -- it's the eBay "Buy It Now" price for bases. One million influence only gets you two thousand Prestige, and even with the new, lower costs for bases, you'd need to spend hundreds of millions in influence to make any kind of worthwhile addition to your base. Fulmens has been helping people with this, but even with his usual matching offer, you're still not getting a great deal by going to the registrar.

While I do understand the need to get things built "right now" for the instant gratification of having the big shiny you want, I will almost always recommend you're better off in the long run by being patient and investing that inf in making your own characters more powerful by getting better IOs. As your characters get more powerful, you defeat enemies more quickly, and that leads to faster Prestige earnings just from playing the game.

Task Forces can net higher level toons 10K or more. Sometimes a lot more. I usually roll up somewhere between 15-20K on an ITF team. That's on teams that complete it in 70-90 minutes. If you have time to play the game, you'll roll up Prestige just by playing. Just takes some patience.

I think the biggest rule though is, we all want to see whatever your Prestige is spent on. When you get your base going, don't hesitate to show pics here in one of the base threads.

I've posted requests in the Market section for "Custom IO's" and had them filled (low-level Blessings of the Zephyr, for instance.) The current problem is that none of the brute-force methods (spend 240 merits, for instance) work for PVP recipes.

I believe you can still get them in zone PVP, but I haven't tried.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not until the next patch goes live, I think. Currently no rewards of any type for PvP kills if what I've read is still correct.

Someplace like the "old" Hollows maybe? Now that was a learning experience! Come on, you remember.

Whoops.... killed again, damn back to atlas.... sprint back to the far side of the map through lvl 12,13,14's and your just a lvl 6.

Err no. Thanks to newspaper missions in kings row, after my second toon ever (ice/kin) I have never been back to the Hallows. Ever.

Great thread. Anyway, never really understood the Hollows Hate. I guess I am alone in actually ENJOYING the missions and environment there? I always try to run all my characters through it, AFTER getting the jet and jump pack though

    <QR>

The last invasion there was an organized server-wide Drop Ship take down... If I remember correctly we on Virtue won with over 40 I believe (I may be off by a few)... either way it was the best time I'v had playing since I started playing this game. I so hope we get to do it again.

If you haven't had a chance to take down a Drop Ship with over 100 other Hero's... man you are seriously missing out!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I really want to be around for a drop ship kill sometime. I usually do invasions on red side with my MM though.

Do you plan on hitting any of the Virtue global channels to announce Drop Ship planning during the upcoming invasions?

So what's different between an invasion and when they appear regularly? Is the game play different? Or is it just more of those same invasions?

Good luck to anyone brave enough to attempt a Numina that weekend.

One year before the Winter Event was started I had won a costume contest with my level 1 Xmas Ork, so I ran him back and forth to Peregine Island and used the winnings to buy SO's and gave them away to new alts zoning in at the spawn point in front of Ms. Liberty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is there a contact for SOs in PI that doesn't make you do a mish first?
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Although I'm not against the rep change by any means, I have to agree with one of the previous posters who suggested having the victim have a small chance of a recipe as well. That would definitely encourage new players to try PvP as well as prevent you from feeling totally shafted when you get nothing from revenge except well revenge

    [/ QUOTE ]

If this is to discourage people farming their own defenseless second accounts, your suggestion won't work, as it provides them potential rewards for both killing the defenseless target and also for being the defenseless target. If that really is what we're looking at here, I'm willing to bet that idea is a non-starter.

Why not just return the rules to the way they were? What really was the reason for the change? Was there too many PVP IOs on the market?

    [/ QUOTE ]

From what I'm reading (and please correct me if I'm wrong) I believe their intent is to put a stop to the people sitting there with two accounts, using one account to kill off their second account, which isn't defending itself, over and over.

A few threads about this have popped up with people taking part in this practice declaring they feel this was "Working As Intended" instead of being an exploit. I'm guessing this change is meant to declare it an exploit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, as long as the new goal is to keep the supply at near-zero levels for those of us that play on small servers and don't have the ludicrous bankroll to get them in the auction house, mission accomplished.

    [/ QUOTE ]
While not the politest post, this guy is essentially correct. Supply will drop from this patch. The primary effect of stopping afk farming also has the secondary effect of dropping supply by huge amounts. I really don't think dropping the timer to 5 minutes is gonna offset it by any significant portion.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes I agree, but it's a situation where people who weren't actually risking anything were getting rewards. And then to top it all off, some were openly setting up in high traffic areas like zone entrances and then declaring their actions to be completely proper when called on it.

Um.... did anyone really think this practice was going to be allowed to stay?

And if it's been deemed an exploit, from the previous history of this game, why would anyone expect the devs will ever comment on it?

I'm in perfect agreement with anyone who feels it was dishonest at best to say that the lack of PVP rewards was purely a bug since this shows it obviously wasn't true. They should have at least owned up to it in some way, perhaps saying they found flaws in the reward system and that it needed to be revised. That wouldn't have been popular but it would have been honest.

The PVP IO supply will likely slow down quite a bit with these changes, and again, the blame falls on both the devs, for instituting a faulty system initially, and the players, who abused that system and then openly called out that they were in the right because the devs' faulty system allowed it to happen. I see the whole thing as being a lot like the early Comm Officer farms all over again, except this time nobody was threatened with retroactive penalties by an angry forum rant from Posi.

Updating textures I can understand. Completely changing the design under everyone's nose, on the other hand, is just wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]

it's a QoL improvement I think, I know you don't like it, but it doesn't make it wrong.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's wrong if it introduces a situation where the new piece is clipping with itself. Yes, the new hi-res texture is much nicer, but the new clipping issue for that piece kinda offsets any kind of improvement. trading one visual eyesore for another isn't really an improvement.

It's at best a "push" in my eyes. I'm picky about costumes though.

Why, there is, in fact, a way to get another costume slot even from level one, let me explain...

Be a Soldier of Arachnos or a Widow Villain Epic ArcheType.

    Edit:
    It's from a lvl 10+ arc.

How do you get it early at lvl 1?

    [/ QUOTE ]

There's a way but it involves using a plastic spork to sacrifice a five-legged goat that's been covered in pumpkin pie filling during a blue moon while chanting the secret incantations hidden by Led Zeppelin in Stairway to Heaven, which can only be heard while playing the song backwards.

Needless to say, it's not very common to see someone accomplish this.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Did you, I don't know, SAY anything to her? Maybe some politely phrased constructive criticism? Maybe start off by asking to have your shields refreshed, and work from there?

This is an MMO, it's a social game, and that's pretty much what can make it awesome or terrible. You said it yourself- not vet badges. She's clearly new. Newbs (as opposed to n00bs) are usually pretty receptive to advice if it makes their toon more effective and powerful. They might not understand the way certain game mechanics work, like us grizzled vets do, and frankly the language in the "info" menu can be very confusing.

What IS really disturbing is that she got to 50 without anyone correcting her weird habits. Sure, the onus is on her to learn how to play as effectively as possible, but it is also in your best interests to her her get there.

It's like the illiterate kid that somehow slides through high school. We can [censored] and snicker about it all we want, but the better one of us gets, the better all of us gets.

(well, until the nerf bat comes, but that's another thread...)

    [/ QUOTE ]

Um seriously, how do you think we found out that she didn't know shields needed to be reapplied? We kept asking her to give them to us and kept asking her to use powers that would help the team. The team leader (the kin) and I both kept asking her for buffs. Sometimes she would actually buff us. Only sometimes.

We kept asking her to hosp when she died instead of laying there begging for inspirations that we were actually using for the fight against Reichs. She was insistent that she was only there to heal though.

For the record, she had a SG. I'm presuming they might have had something to do with her being PL'd and clueless unfortunately. Could be wrong there, but that's my guess.

After dealing with her for a little over 3 hours for that TF, I one-starred her and went on my way.

  23. So I did the Kahn TF the other day on a team that had a level 50 fire/thermal. I have a 50 mind/thermal, so I know that thermal can be a great mixed buffing/debuffing set. Having a thermal and an earth/kin on the team, I thought we'd be golden.

I was left twitching, gibbering incoherently to myself for hours after the TF after watching her in action in the final mish.

Nobody looked at her power selections until we really needed her to do more than run in and faceplant (which she mastered), which was in the final mish. That was obviously an oversight on all of our parts, and the team leader confessed he never thought to look either when I sent him a tell after looking at her powers in the final mish.

She skipped Forge, Thaw, Melt Armor, and Heat Exhaustion. She apparently didn't know that Thermal buffs needed to be reapplied. She only used Cauterize for healing from Thermal, despite also having Warmth.

She skipped Fire Cages, Cinders, Hot Feet, Smoke, and Flashfires. Her attacks on Reichsman consisted almost entirely of Bonfire, Fire Imps, and occasionally her blasts from the Fire Mastery Epic Pool.

She took all of the the Medicine pool except Stimulant. Most of the time, instead of using Cauterize to heal, she would usually run up to someone and use Aid Other and then run away from the team to use Aid Self.

She had no vet badges. What was possibly more frightening, was that her toon's name and her global name weren't the same, so she probably has more than one of these running around. This was "Fiery name" and her global was "Atomic name." Yes, I left the name out intentionally, as this post isn't meant to call her out.

So what's the most disturbingly bad example of a controller that you've seen in-game?
  24. I'm unimpressed by the change as well. An emote should not have to root you for the duration like attacks do. Are there any others that do? I can't think of any.

Turning into a pumpkin also has some background to it IRL, ie the Cinderella carriage being referenced when you someone doesn't like being out late -- "they turn into a pumpkin" is the joke there. Pumpkins being mystically tied in-game to the Fir Bolg in Croatoa also seemed a little funny while also making sense with the in-game lore for people who chose to use them that way.

Yes, it's novel now, but I'm willing to bet the novelty of "hey I'm a hospital bed!" will die off quickly for anyone who isn't that easily amused. I'm not saying that everything in the game "has to make sense" but considering this was one of the rare things that actually did seem to follow some sort of plan....

So yeah, why not have two emotes? One for the traditional pumpkin emote and one for the new random item emote that locks you down in one spot.

    All scrapper STF

I'll let the rest of you do the ITF. Don't really enjoy doing ITF with my scrapper.

On Saturday I led an all scrapper Numina TF on Virtue for the second week in a row. I'll probably be leading an all scrapper Manticore TF on Sunday.
