  1. Or the telepads in your base, yes.
  2. Like all other crafted items for bases, it is placed as a personal item, not in the actual base editor.

Actually, the idea of the maze was their idea. I started off with just one straightforward line of sewers that had a hole in one wall leading into the cavern that leads into the base. They wanted to see it hidden more though, and asked me to make sure it was really hidden away.

First rule of base building, at least for me, is to build whatever the SG asks for whenever possible. They asked for the maze, so I'm building it.

Thanks for the compliment otherwise though.

I'll post updated pics once we upgrade the plot again, which will add both more sewer lines and also our new meeting room, the Longbow Chaser hangar and launch tubes.

    Sewer Layout

Sewers? Yeah I have an entire sewer line that leads to the base hidden in a spot where the sewer line's wall was broken through into a cavern.

The idea is that everytime we upgrade the plot size, no less than half of the plot will be the maze of sewer tunnels we have. There are currently two lines of sewers from the entry, and only one, no matter how many we add, will ever lead to the actual base. For those of you wondering, this is all at the request of the SG's members.

I need to do more screenshots to update the current layout (we have a lot more sewer now) but here is where I have some of the screenshots from the previous layout. There are examples of the sewers I've done in that folder.

We're on Virtue if anyone wants to see it first-hand.
  5. Personally I'd rather we continue posting links to pics than have pics on the threads themselves. It's less annoying and less intrusive than having every thread plastered with pics, particularly in these threads where we're all showing pics.
  6. I just uploaded updated pics of the hi-tech House of Heroes Satellite and the demonic Horsemen of Apocalypse temple complex.

Both are on Virtue. Not sure if they'll fit exactly what you need, but I'm more than willing to offer their use if they do, as well as offering a tour if a more detailed view is needed.
  7. Okay I've done updates to the House of Heroes satellite, including a one million Prestige Hangar Deck with custom stealth transport ship, the Grey Ghost Mk II. Pics of that base can be found here.

Also have pics finally of the demonic Horsemen of Apocalypse temple complex, posted up here.

Labeled maps with detailed information on each room's contents (functional or RP), for the House of Heroes satellite and Web-Spinner's Amazing Friends' hidden base in the sewers can be found here.

All bases are on Virtue and available for tours whenever I'm on, other than during TFs/mishes with my SG. Holler on the Base Builders Inc. global channel to arrange it.
  8. Pros: Faster, smoother performance

Cons: It looks like it was beaten with an ugly stick. The low contrast monochromatic blue/grey thing flat-out looks amatuerish IMO. It's also not as easy on the eyes for prolonged viewing.

Overall: Not impressed. You can say it performs better all you want, but if its not visually appealing most people won't spend enough time using it for the performance to matter. The web is a visual medium, and right now, this doesn't cut it. Hopefully there will be changes as we go forward.
  9. One of my hero bases, the House of Heroes, has a similar "Control Room" setup for each telepad room, inspired by the look of Stargate Command.

But keep in mind if you are stacking those stone blocks you need to use a floor plate to keep going up. I did this in my Villian base and if you are to do it have lots of time and your favorite nonalcoloic drink because you will need it. You can see a pic of that doorway in this weeks City Scoop.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I used a variety of stone blocks to obscure a doorway in one of my hero bases as well. Posted info and a link about it all here
  11. There are guides for stacking items in this forum. Look up in the stickied threads and you'll see guides and resources for stacking.
  12. My bad -- it's only 100 million to get your 200K Prestige for the generator. Makes it 150 million for the room and the generator.
  13. There are also two crafted items, the Monitor Bank and Mega Monitor, that mount directly on walls as Control Auxiliary units that attach to the main Control unit in a room. Check the wiki for details on what's needed to craft them.
  14. Vojin, to put it in perspective for you, you're not looking at upgrading to a Bentley. You're upgrading from your first used car in high school to a brand new sedan. Big price difference? Congratulations, this is the midway gear, at a relative cost, using what you chose as your initial comparison.

After that you upgrade to a big, powerful SUV (Turbine Generator). Again a big price difference (One million, if I recall?). If you go to the next level, it's the Fusion Generator, and it's quite a jump to go up to that Bentley.

Luckily you've chosen to work on red side for your solo base efforts, where you don't need as much to afford the same level of functionality as you'd want on blue side. That basic generator would likely be all you'll ever need for your solo base on red side even if you chose to have all the telepads eventually.

I know a lot of people still don't want to hear this, but bases are priced to make it an achievement for a group to accomplish these things. It's something for the group to work toward. That 225K difference you're sweating over solo is a day or two's work for a group.

When you choose to make a solo base, unfortunately you have to accept that you're not going to have everything you've come to expect in bases from SGs that are far larger, and if you do, it likely won't be overnight and it won't be cheap if it is. And even as someone who works on many solo and small group bases, I think this is a good thing.

We're playing a game based on the world of comic books, so I'll use that to illustrate my point. In that world, only the big teams or the very rich can afford an elaborate base. I've used the comparison before. If you're Peter Parker, you're not going to have the same facilities available to you as either the Avengers or Tony Stark, even if you move in with the Black Cat.

If you really want to "Buy It Now" you can look into converting Influence to Prestige. It's a terrible exchange rate, and to be honest, I would never recommend you do that, my friend. But that avenue is open to you if you choose. It would cost about 125 million Influence for just the generator, 175 million for the generator and a 2x2 room to place it in. Tony Stark or Bruce Wayne went the "Buy It Now" route by the way, using their own personal wealth to buy the equipment for their bases.

The Imperious Task Force, one of the most sought after task forces in all of CoX.

    TEAM BUILD
To make a proper team for the ITF is not as hard as many people say. The most required is:

    1. A Tanker [Stone or Invulnerablity]
    2. A Kinetic
    3. A Controller [storm, ice or fire]
    4. a scrapper or 2 with high damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This week I've led two all-troller/dom ITFs and an all defender/corruptor ITF on Virtue. I think that shoots holes in your team build right there. It's more important to have a team of players who are all paying attention and on the same page than trying to fit your idea of what is needed for an ITF team.

    [ QUOTE ]
Start off the mission by clearing the bridge and the following ambushes so that you dont end up with soldiers in your corpse's face when you zone in. Then, skip to Romulus, theres a short cutscene depicting his romantic interest with a Nictus coming to a climax. After the cutscene, kill the guards in the main square, but dont pull the big guy yet. Then, theres two eliteboss mobs next to him. if you have a good pull, pull them down. Then, go after Mr. Purple.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not every team skips to Rommy. Personally I'd rather fight my way there via the road to the left. That's how I lead my teams and I'm not the only one.

    [ QUOTE ]

Supposedly there is a belief that you can seperate Romulus from theNictus AVs and fight him only once. Let me tell you right now, That..is...Bull <censored>. I cannot stress how many teams have tried it that have failed. It isn't worth it, get over yourself. To defeat Romulus, have the tank keep aggro on the Nictus and Rommy. Just Support the tank and hit romulus with everything you have, and HEAL. Romulus will respawn 3 times by sacrificing one of the nictus next to him, so the fight could, from a point of view, become easier proggressively. Just remember to smack Romulus. The Nictus next to him will each provide him with a certain bonus. They are pets with Powers. One nictus can summon a horde, the other can heal, and the last is a combat aid. After sacrificing themselves, there is a large shockwave, so when he dies, try to stay back or youll be stunned. After beating the snot out of him for the last time, kill the 300 spartans the quest requires and there you go, the ITF is complete. Phew.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You can separate Rommy from the Nictus. I've seen it. Sometimes it even happens by accident. The all-corr/def team I led last night even killed the healer first, from range, to keep from having to deal with it.

Sometimes pets are a problem with giving more bodies to feed the healer, yes, this part is true, but only to a point. If they're MM pets that have ranged attacks (led by an MM who has a clue), it's not so much an issue though.

Now before anyone says that Control pets can never be a problem, the tipping point in one all-troller/dom ITF was one fire/rad's imps. She summoned them while we were mowing Rommy down and his HP started jumping up faster than we damaged him again. She unsummoned them when I mentioned it, and we were again outdamaging the healer nictus' ability to keep Rommy alive. He fell over again soon after.

So I'm not sayin' never use 'em, I'm just sayin' to monitor the situation, you know?

    Edited for a typo
  16. Had a blast taking down dropships the last two nights, using DH in Sharkhead and then Skjor in Skyway, Talos, and Atlas. Thanks to all the team leaders and organizers who made it all happen.

And a special thanks to my teammates throughout the evening Saturday: Infatum, Princess Lee, Jinni Kindle, Homonid, 3 Mile Isle, Neon Apocalypse, Moe Metal, Corinda, Frozen Blayze, Xanthica, Ice-Cream Headache, Source Current, Psintorallikaro, MX-2000, and American Sun. It was a pleasure working with you all.

Totally cool, I've been kicking around a Danger room Idea, but these are awesome.

    Well done

    Valor

    [/ QUOTE ]

In a previous base I maintained, we had a pseudo-Danger Room. The main scenario I built into it was a full jungle, built up around the massive Arcane tower/bridge ruins piece. There were turrets, trees, and a stream of water running through the middle.

The adjoining room was set up as the Danger Room's control room, using unattached control terminals and various monitors, and this was where we set up the Pillar of Ice and Flame. After that, all Ouro arcs were treated as simulations in the Danger Room.

With Scrappers and Brutes the -range only hits one mob

[/ QUOTE ]What makes you say that for Brutes? Brute Taunt is identical to Tanker Taunt. It's the punchvoke that's different between the two of them, and that doesn't apply -range for either, anyway.

CoD lists an "Unknown" effect on Taunt, but that effect just allows the -range to hit separately from the taunt in PvP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Brute Taunt is an AoE like Tanker Taunt. The -range component of Brute Taunt however is applied only to the actual target and not those around the target that were otherwise affected by the Taunt.
  19. Alright I'll dive in on this one....

A gallery of another of my SG bases is presented here. The base itself is entirely Tech.

The base for "Web-Spinner's Amazing Friends" is RP'd as being hidden underground, off of one of the sewer lines in Faultline. It's a teen hero SG on Virtue. The actual base portal drop off puts you into an area of the sewers. From there, you have to find your way through the sewer to a hole in the sewer line that leads to a rough-hewn rocky cavern. The other end of the cavern leads into a metal hallway, black with white crisscrossing lines like a spiderweb.

No... Silver Mantis Strike Force has been there since CoV went live.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I thought that still wasn't working?

It was broken ages ago and they removed the ability to access it til they could get around to fixing it. I wasn't aware it was live again.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I believe you're thinking of the Cathedral of Pain Trial, which is broken and currently unavailable and has been for a long time.
  21. Thanks for the information! Figured it was leftover from some plan that was changed along the way, but I came along too late to know the details firsthand.
  22. At the war wall due east from the High Park neighborhood marker for Kings Row, there are watchtowers, fences, and walls, like you see at the gates for hazard zones, but there's no actual gate. I know it's been that way since I started playing, nearly two and a half years ago.

Anyone know what was going to be there? Access to Perez maybe?
  23. Yep, went through that for a Manticore TF I was leading with my 50 WP/Mace tanker. Took a few tries to get the team to recognize why they kept getting killed, but after that I would just call out "40" and they'd know to treat it like an AV fight, where I would tank the Protector while they killed the rest of the room.

Of course the rooms that had more than one..... yeah they were fun....
  24. And on the third client restart, it worked again. Was only one base that it happened to, and eventually it seems to have gone away. Nothing has happened to the base so far, no corruption or whatever, so we'll see if the problem resurfaces at some point.
  25. Definitely good to know. Thanks for the testing!
