I am against any micro transactions in this game.
I will not play games with micro transactions.
Micro transactions give an unfair advantage with people with more money. Sure the game is here to make money on one level, but it is also here so that people can enjoy it and thus money is made. If you are disadvantaging people because of how much money they can put into a game, you are going to drive people away that don't want to be "nickel and dimed" by Micro transactions.
Micro transactions was one of the final nails driven into the coffin for Champions Online - as far as I'm concerned.
The Boosters are one thing. They aren't make or break and they don't give a statistical advantage in the game.
What you are suggesting does offer a statistical advantage.
Also, virtually everything that you can use in game is on sale at the Markets. Rares are rare for a reason - they are rares. Purples are Ultra-Rares - they aren't supposed to be available all the time for everyone...how would they be "ultra-rare" if they were? -
[ QUOTE ]
The devs have yet to fix their boneheaded decision to have nearly every mission in an arc be in a different zone and each of those zones be located somewhere other than where the contact is. You can't really run arcs efficiently like that. It creates alot of stopping and going.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's an old school way of prolonging game longevity aka "spread missions out and put "wandering monsters" in between to slow them down even further".
It really makes no sense even from the game stand point for the NPC's to send out from one zone to another in general. It does expose you do different areas and back-in-the-day it was rather risky to make some of these runs into unknown territory where the enemies were above your level.
From that sense of "fear" of enemies and the feeling of "triumph" once those same enemies can be defeated, I can understand it, but it does mean that those arc can be team killers - especially when a "talk to" in another zone comes along.
The Hollows, Faultline, Ouroborus, the Police missions, Cimeorea, and even the MA/AE are a step towards stopping all that running around.
I think the MA/AE goes astray with the idea by allowing all levels to access missions in all zones. I've proposed elsewhere to employ a reverse-level-restriction on the AE buildings. That is to say. You can't use a AE building to run missions regardless if you are exemplared down or not unless you are in a zone that is your level or higher. This pushes higher level characters that want to use the MA/AE to higher level zones.
I think it would greatly improve the game, while still not forcing players to run around all over the place once they are in a level appropriate zone - that's what is going on in all the other examples (aka Hollows, Faultline, Ouroborus, the Police missions, and Cimeorea).
I agree that it may be time to address the fact that the older contacts are still working based on an outdated mission system (aka running around the world to get to you next mission instead of the area where you contact is located).
I'd add that any contact that has a mission send you to another zone to start a new contact while they still have content to offer should have two mission options at that junction - a) go talk to such and such (example Wilcot) and b) go do this for me (a mission or a hunt).
Might as well add the need to fix hunts the arc hunts that aren't even do able any more because of the changes to enemy placement or complete removal from zones where they previously existed. -
[ QUOTE ]
As for how AE keeps players from experiencing regular content ...
It does. But those are possibly players that simply don't want to play this game and experience that content.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then why are those players playing this game?
What did they think was so cool about CoX that they decided to subscribe to it and then ....
[ QUOTE ]
...don't want to play this game and experience that content...
[/ QUOTE ] ...that makes the game CoX?
Are you implying that they are playing the game only because they CAN EXPLOIT IT?
You may have a point there.
[satire]Hurrah! for all the new subscribers that are only here because they CAN EXPLOIT THE GAME![/satire]
I don't mind that Exploiters are paying to support the content that the rest of us play, I just don't want to see and hear from you any more. It seems that the DEVs aren't doing anything active about this so I am.
Easy enough. Ignore them in the forums. Ignore them in the game. One star their accounts using the Notes system. Go into Options and set your options to "show stars". Don't game with anyone with one star (as they are part of the problem).
Easily done.
Farmers are empty shells.
I'm glad to game with a bunch of cool people that enjoy this game because they are playing supers. You all make this game great.
See you in the City. -
[ QUOTE ]
I just can't get the urge to play anymore if the future is farming, farming, farming. Heck the groups are so bored now no one ever chats or even comments. Just heading from one boss mega group to the next. Turn on the TV and smash the AOE's until they are dead and move on. People can't even get excited to say "Congrats" when you ding.
I think my time with this game might have come to an end.
I'm very sad.
[/ QUOTE ]
So here we are.
You have the choice.
You can take the Blue Pill and become a farmer and believe that you are actually playing the game by exploiting the system and rushing through the experience of leveling your character.
-or-
You can take the Red Pill and join the players that enjoy all the wonders of the "normal" game and run AE missions with actual story lines.
And yeah, the Farmers are noisy and obvious .... so easy to find.
The rest of us aren't so easy to find because of the wall of noise and confusion from the Farmers, but we are out here. You might not be as virulently anti-farmer as I am but that doesn't mean that you can't join me and others like me to avoid farmers and, therefore, enrich and engage in the kind of game that we want to be playing in this City of Heroes (and Villains).
We are out here. We do find and create teams.
I'm on all the servers.
You are not alone.
...oh, and, btw, gratz! -
I have gotten about 6-8 and sent 7-10, but that has been in almost 5 years of play.
All of these e-mails were between supergroup members. A filter so that I could have gotten e-mail from sg members only would have kept all spam from my inbox.
Anyone that I'm a global friend with, I just send a tell to anyway, so I don't really need the e-mail function in order to communicate with them.
By and large, the e-mail system is worthless to me - less than worthless actually as it is an on-going pain to have to deal with the spam in order to turn of that red "you've got spam" light at the top of the chat window. -
I think that they help cut down on heating and cooling costs - plus they keep insects and rodents out of the AE - well, now that I'm thinking about it...I've seen some pretty big bugs in the AE and not all of them were in missions...
-
I've done okay with my ninja stalkers, but they are all below level 25 or so. I have a couple of different kinds of Stalkers...I actually think the ninja one's are the highest level stalkers that I have.
It seems okay to me, but I play by character conception and deal with any flaws on an individual character basis and don't try to compare them to other characters - especially numerically.
If it is a set that you will think is fun to play, I'd make one and go for it. If you don't know for sure, make one of each kind of stalker and then pick which one you like best, or just play all of them, but then...I get a little alt crazy... -
Hmm...well, next to Willpower, Regeneration is the most powerful scrapper secondary set for scrappers.
So what was the problem again? -

I can't get a call from the DEVs on what exactly the "no parody and no derivative works" actually is supposed to cover, but this seems to fit that.
[/ QUOTE ]
It doesn't.
[/ QUOTE ]
Why not?
How do you now?
Have you seen somewhere that indicates that the DEVs had made a call in regards to this matter?
It seemed clear that the OP knew that they were "meant" to be the JLA.
What would DC stance be in regards to this? -
[ QUOTE ]
Otherwise, start running bank missions now to get Raptor packs.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't forget about the raptor pack vendor in the Shadow Shard.
I'm pretty sure it's level 40 to get in there, but you can buy the raptor pack repeatedly for 10k inf, or sit in the zone for day job time to get a Traveller's Flight pack which can hold up to a 30 minute charge - based on day job time. -

Isn't that of Freedom clearing a bunch of zones of Dropships, Michelle?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, that was Virtue. But it's definite proof that dropships can be taken down, and rather efficiently in fact, if you know the flight paths of the dropships. I think they're currently up on ParagonWiki or something.
As the video shows, we took down 41 dropships in just about an hour.

I'm pretty sure that's the same hour of dropship battling that I was a part of a while back.
I'm sorry to see all the threads form back then were wiped, there was a bunch of good RP postings about that night.
It was awesome watching those things go down. -
[ QUOTE ]
It would have been great. Then I read the I15 patch notes. And to add insult to injury, it's a SF/TF combo, not a mission arc, so I'll probably never get to play it for myself.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds like a good reason to go ahead and make it.
There are others like you that don't run SF/TF due to time constraints. -
It was a farm in my opinion.<ul type="square">[*]All Lts.
A group that is not composed of minions, LT, and bosses definitely has a statistical advantage - otherwise why do it?
If it was just a one-mission arc with no story then I would say it is a farm based on that as well. There really is no excuse for making a arc without a story if it is only one mission.
Farmer's are going to tend to avoid multi-missions arcs as they are in it for the quick turn around that running the same "one" mission yields.
I can't get a call from the DEVs on what exactly the "no parody and no derivative works" actually is supposed to cover, but this seems to fit that. You could see who an individual character was supposed to be. You could see a whole team of individual characters that were very much like a team in a DC comic. I think that the rule was definitely mean to to catch and remove this kind of thing before another lawsuit starts.
It should be reported so that the DEVs/moderators/GM/customer support or whoever can make the call in order to protect this game for all of us.
There was a discussion about the "no parody and no derivative works" rule on this thread ::

Are you telling me you can't dodge a ranged attack?

Not any more.
BTW Dodge ball has been renamed Deflect ball. -
Good one, Jdouble.
Awesome in fact. I hope people take advantage of this little known way to combine forces in the digital realm...er...in the virtual world...er... -
They do give you an advantage, but I think that advantage really isn't needed at level 50. This stuff was added in so that people that had level 50's, weren't do anything but playing their 50's, complaining that there 50's had nothing to do, etc. would have something to to keep their level 50's busy.
It's really just a matter of giving something for some players to want to be uber, l337, etc. about.
And yeah, one of them is PvP. They introduced special PvP sets just to keep that crowd happy - sure enough they are people farming for the dern things. -
Richmond.
How's it going down there in Tidewater? -
[ QUOTE ]
There are still teams to be had and yes starting your own is a very quick way to get on a team. My worry is if your SG is a good one then they should be making room for you to team with them.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree.
I gamed with a PuG team on Virtue yesterday that was running "normal" missions.
Starting your own team is always an option that many people won't try. Don't sent blind invites. Send a request for people to join your team. State your level, your difficulty, what you are doing, and where. Players will join.
If you aren't grouping with your group, it isn't much of a group. It's more like you are a backroom minion washing the dishes for the people that really group together. Unless there is something beneficial that you are getting from being in that super group, I suggest finding one that will actually play the game with you. That's the main reason to be in a sg as far as I'm concerned.
If you are allowed to invite players to the super group, you could start inviting "good" players that you recruit to your team to your super group ... then you will have people in your sg to game with.
I'm in the biggest super group of all. All my super groups and villain groups are subsets of that huge super group. It is simply called PUG. I have the feeling that there are more Pick Up Groups going on at any given time than any other kind of team. -

<ul type="square">[*]Purchase character slots.
[*]Move to a new server?
[/ QUOTE ]
If you have the loot, get a couple of character slots before deleting a 50. I'm sure you will miss them.
The other servers aren't that bad .... well ... maybe Freedom and Virtue ... and making a character on another server doesn't mean that you can't go back and play your characters on your home server.
I play on all of them. They are different, but one thing is the same. It's the server I'm on when I'm there. If I play like I play on the other servers, then really it's the same server. It's my server.
I know it might seem like you won't know anyone on another server, but I bet more players that play on Pinnacle other than myself play on other servers as well. So maybe finding out what other server they are on and playing there might not be as bad or different as you think.
I hate to see players deleting characters if they haven't filled up all there slot yet, but ... well ... I'm a bit of an alt-oholic. -
I used to look forward to double xp weekend.
I was excited about leveling quickly and knowing that tons of players would be playing and I'd get to play on some great and full teams.
Honestly, now I could care less about double XP weekend, and I agree that the AE is part of that.
It seems that farmers complaining have made the DEVs back down or at least be very quiet about their actions against them.
The AE was created with the intent that it would not be farming or power leveling tool.
Not allowing double XP in the AE would be a good way to force players out of the AE.
Obviously if it is allowed, it just doubles the cheating and exploits that are already out of control in the AE.
For myself, I am not very excited or motivated by Double XP weekend.
It would be a shame if double xp was allowed in the AE and that cheaters should prosper. -

The only time I've had serious complaints about bubbles was with the old Sonic graphics - and that wasn't aesthetics, that was "they make me physically ill."
[/ QUOTE ]
I really hate the "Fire" effect for Thermal Shields. It hurts my eyes, especially on a big team. It's too big and too busy.
But then the Purple caves hurt my eyes as well. -
Fortunately, Bubbles still aren't as tedious as playing Empathy well.
I wouldn't mind seeing the addition of a "duration" enhancement for bubbles similar to the "Hold", "Immobilize", "Intangibility" (Does anyone even use that?), etc. enhancements that increase duration of the effect. They could be used on powers like "Clear Mind" and "Fortitude" as well...
I always thought it was odd that there wasn't a "generic" "duration" enhancer as everything else seems to be so "generic" in aspect.
Bubbles are very powerful and I don't mind taking the time to re-bubble a team. -
[ QUOTE ]
So suggesting the market as a normal source of income is, for the most part, idiotic.
[/ QUOTE ]
No. It isn't.
It is pretty idiotic not to use/understand an obvious - and the most lucrative - source of income in game.
The most basic is "buying low and selling high".
The second is to be patient on bidding and selling. You can often sell something for far more inf is you are willing to wait even a short of a time as a day or two.
The rest you will have to figure out on your own.
---
Before the market, I often had characters that didn't have enough inf to keep their powers slotted with enhancements.
The Market means that none of my characters have this problem any longer.
My new characters usually have well over 1 million influence by level 10 - if not level 5.
I have even worked characters that are level one to gain more than 1 millions influence through working the market, and that is with extremely few market slots.
I'm not suggesting that many players do this, but I think that they can.
Patience gos a long way. -
