This reminds me of something I mentioned a while back to some people. Why don't more foes have Taunt?
Think about it, make one enemy who is *insanely* resilient, but doesn't do much damage himself. They use a Taunt on say, a Blaster. Suddenly, that Blaster can only target said enemy. Sure, you can still use AoE's, but it's something I'd like to see, since it could cause some interesting situations.
For bonus points, AoE Taunt -

BRIGHT LIGHTS IN CROATOA
And not the mystical kind either. Residents of Salamanca were witness to a terrific, albeit more-frightening-than-usual sight.
Roughly south of the University, black helicopters dropped in wave after wave of robotic soldiers, believed to be of the 5th Column. The mechanical soldiers wasted no time in attacking the witches of the Cabal. Eyewitnesses called the sight 'Exciting and scary at the same time.'
Believed to be leading the mechanized assault was the 5th Column villain, Panzerkommandant (That's Tank Commander, in English). The villain attacked with little prejudice, swatting aside everything the Cabal threw at him. The battle reached a climax at a standoff between the native hero called 'Hexecutrix' and Panzerkommandant. The fight lasted several minutes, and the brave hero fought valiantly, but the day was won by the 5th Column. Hexecutrix is believed to be alive and stable, perhaps nursing a few burns.
Shortly afterwards, the villain and a small force of robots were seen entering a cave. After a several anxious minutes, the villain returned, apparently holding some sort of artifiact, then fled the scene aboard a helicopter.
Local authorities are investigating the incident, but believe it to be a 'one-off', though whether this remains the case is to be seen. -
One thing I always think when I see these threads is "Why don't they consider it from a business stand-point?". Living with (somewhat) successful self-employed parents makes you a bit savvy to these things, as well as having enough interest to research it themselves.
Anyway, whilst it probably would be cool to have an MMO on a handheld (If it was guaranteed 100% to NOT be crap, which, I'm going to guess, it will be.) It would be a financial disaster
Mainly, because I doubt that NCSoft have enough funds to finance this. Or, maybe they do. But it won't make a profit. Even if it's "City of ... but a bit different"
Secondly, i'd rather NCSoft and Paragon Studios put their time and money towards this game, rather than having to make a whole new game. These things aren't just simple copy and pastes, especially where *insert platform* to handheld is concerned.
Finally, and tying into the first two, it would take an immense amount of time to organize, and, from the sounds of it (And I certainly hope) that the next year is all booked up for releases.
TL;DR It'd be good to see if anyone could pull off an MMO on a handheld, anyone but NCSoft/Paragon Studios though. -
There's already enough hoops in the game to reach the 'end', no sense sticking 20 more hoops onto it

Quote:yea but imagine because of what you all say, probably COH will be the only MMO on the Vita
so they won't have competition and they will make a lot of money?
It'll only be making a lot of money for one company, and I can guarantee that wouldn't be Paragon Studios or NCSoft.
Since the PSVita is .. you know, Sony's product?
For most people, shelling out £250+ (Not sure what that is in dollars) to play a game that they could already play on their PC, and likely with inferior gameplay etc., is unthinkable, unless you have more money than sense.
Heck, I mean, i'm brazen enough to say that my money constraints are rather light and even I wouldn't spend that much money on a game I already have. -
Yeah, not gunna happen, for all the reasons mentioned.
Though, the thought process of this idea is interesting ..
PSVita = Good
CoX = Good
PSVita + CoX = PROFIT(?)
If they didn't port CoX to Xbox 360 or PS3 or Wii, it won't happen with the Vita. That's all there is to say on the matter. -
Wow, I like that last link. As someone studying games development, it's good to get the personal/professional opinions on parts of the MMO market

Quote:You do know that, before the Server Merges, Union was the RP server for Europe?not helping unions rep saying they dont have any quality standard for RP. You do know anyone who actually is worth RPing with goes to virtue, those who go to lesser servers and thier minor RP populations are there to be ignored by thier server community, unlike virtue which is ruled by its RP community. And Lore in every form be it minor or major is far more important then so called freedom. In my experiance those who ignore lore are the worst of god moders.

Quote:That must be in your head, because i'm sure as heck not crying about it.All I keep hearing is oh no you thought of using that bit of lore first and now I am sad I cant from every one who argues with me.
It must be because I come from Union, where anything like that is frowned upon, then laughed at, in that order. -
Quote:...Since I never said I do you literally made a post with no point. But to answer you, good for you that you are happy making meaningless characters that strangers wont ever look at and say hm that looks familiar, have your bio read, then recieve a tell saying " damn man that is like a perfect bio, you got it all, didnt miss a thing, and your build, the way you dress, the way you sit there at the bar telling stories of the old days, its just so right on man thanks for making my day"
So .. basically, if your character isn't Statesman or some other NPC character, they're "meaningless"?
Wow .. just .. wow .. -
This probably should have been put in the Roleplaying board, but, oh well.
Yeah, you can't dictate how to write a bio to someone. A good bio can be two sentences long. A good bio can be all 1024 characters long.
In the end, everything is subjective and it's not worth worrying about.
As long as a bio tells me their name so I can remember it when I inevitably forget, all is good with the world -
I think the following is many people's feelings towards this thread:
EDIT: Oh and also, the Developers have clearly stated that Statesman is dead dead dead, never to return. You'll have a hell of a time convincing people otherwise. When was the last time a player got a say in the Lore? Never, that's when.
You also mention 'acting' and 'taking roles', and, as others have mentioned no one has offered you that role. By your logic, I could assume the position of any of your own characters. Not that I would, but under that logic, I could, simply by asserting myself.
If you want to know why people are so opposed to this, it's not because they don't understand, or they don't like RP, it's actually, very simple.
They don't want the lore dictated to them by someone who has not been appointed to do so.
If you really, really, really want this to happen, as mentioned before, you could convince a small group of people to RP exactly as you say so (Which sounds pretty [clappy], in my opinion)
But there is literally no way you will convince anyone of this idea. -
This thread makes me cringe.
That is all. -
As crushing and stupid as it is that the Roman Weapons AREN'T including in the chuffing ROMAN pack, i've bought pretty much everything on the store, so I have a healthy collection of swords..
Now axes, that's another thing altogether ..
Disappointing, but i'll still buy it. I use the Roman helmets and shoulders for just about everything. -
Quote:How about a global character xp bonus? Stacks up to 30% or sumin. 6 50s, everything levels faster.Quote:How about non subscribers should be grateful they get to play for free instead of whining for more free perks.

Quote:... This may be worse than the OP, but at least it doesn't involve getting free things.they could give you 1 free 50 for the first time you reach 50. so if you go from 1-50 you get an auto 50 for your next toon or if you all ready have 1 50 you get an auto 50 for your next toon. the auto 50 must be on a new toon not an already exsiting one.
I'd been thinking about this topic a while ago, and there are some interesting things you could get out of this like:
The Prestige boost mentioned before
A bunch of Reward Merits
An Alignment Merit (provided you're a full Hero or Villain)
Or how about this? A permanent +5% XP on ONE character. Maybe it can stack to about 15%? -
All minions have a self rez.
But no ordinary self rez, oh no.
They all have the Freakshow Super Stunner self rez.
Melee characters can kiss goodbye to their endurance (And their health, shortly afterwards) -
Let me start by saying: No
For all the reasons listed in this thread.
Anyway, if the OP needed convincing that server merges are B-A-D, they should look no further than Warhammer Online.
What used to be a great game is now pretty much in its death throes.
-BECAUSE- the Developers made decisions such as merging servers.
I know that a lot of people were outraged, and rightly so. Their guilds were dismantled, their characters had to be renamed. The works.
Its bad decisions like -merging servers- that kills a game, not a low population.
