Quote:If people can play Defenders that only buff debuff and heal, then somebody can make a traps defender and run with groups all the time and take all the credit for finishing missions. The Doctor can't be a CoH character. It would be struggling far, far too hard to make him one. CoH is all about combat, and he is very much not about combat. Even if we were to turn The Doctor in upon himself, his appearance would also be extremely difficult to replicate. I cannot think of a single incarnation that you would not experience very obvious and grating inaccuracies with.

It would depend entirely upon who was offering and what they were offering.

The problem that I have with this picture shows me that we need real SupaTroll, and just the lt and boss Troll horns, versus the limited horn selection that we have in-game now.
The female only option of Lil devil horns comes closest, but yeah, we need the actual troll horns -
It'd be cheaper for me, there's definitely things like emotes and travel powers and parts of costume sets that I haven't used and probably would not have bought in the booster pack bundles.

Quantum flight is supposed to give you a boost to flight speed, but doesn't because the flight speed cap is too low. I could see Afterburner's speed boost going in there.
I don't know how you'd give Warshades the extra teleport power without adding an extra option though. -

There's a handful of rooms in office buildings that even just hover will be enough to get the attention of groups on the upper decks.
I try to remember to tell people to turn off hover in those rooms because of how often I've seen groups suddenly "overwhelmed" by those groups. -
Quote:I think the Firefly type aura would probably serve a Butterfly aura better.of coarse , more costumes with glowing parts , i love the glowing parts lol
Butterfly Aura - Could be multiple butterflies that fly around you and leave the same trail as the fairy dust aura . You could have lots of em or a few , like the sparkle effect . you could basically use the fairy wings with an invisible avatar as the base . -
If anything, I'd just like the option to customize from Mercs to something that looks more like SWAT as well as have the option to use male/female/co-ed groups for all of the above. Same goes for ninjas and thugs too, now that I think about it. I guess zombies could get something similar.

Quote:Totally disagree.I disagree many people have multiple characters they want to play or like playing chances are your not going to PS respec those characters into something else unless it was te same concept but different AT and I don't see a lot of people rerolling a high lvl Fire/Invul into a Invul/Fire or Arch/KiN for a Kin/Arch for most if it's high level enough your probably just going to leave it and the concept behind it alone like my NRG/DEV
I actually did re-roll a SR/fire tank to kin/energy brute. That's the beauty of fiery fists combat-only aura. Got the fiery looking hands for attacks and got to look more kung-fu in the process. -
Thinking about flying simple non-descript, metallic, energy etc. disks, I realized that I don't need the "disk" to actually be disk shaped, it could be any number of shapes: rectangle, square, oval, triangle etc. With Triangle, the option to fly with one of the points in front as well as one of the sides/legs in front should be available as well. Ooh, just thought of this, "Vanguard" disk. I could see the Vanguard shield working as a flying platform.
Somebody upthread mentioned playing cards as an option, which made me think of Tarot cards. -
The Vanguard Sigil(is the demon summon symbol on the ground the same?) that is used for costume changes, standing on that would be cool, in lieu of a rocketboard.
Along similar lines using pre-existing things, the Ouro portal symbol, the thing that is on the ground used to be solid, that could make for a cool looking platform to stand on. Though, not sure how a time travel portal would really work as a flying platform.
I'd suggest other players, but other devs have already overruled that particular idea. -
A simple metallic disk would be cool. I know, it's a little "dull" but less work for the guys making stuff. Though, a high tech disk(with some tech texture/pattern on it w/ blinking lights) would be cool too.
A big rock or piece of cement/asphalt, maybe w/ a summon animation where you see it rise out of the earth. Maybe give it a trail/path type aura, so if somebody stayed near the ground you'd kick up a big-ish dust cloud too. This last bit so if somebody decided to always stay near the ground it could appear like an "earth control" type of travel power. -
Late into the clip, Biff's grandson(?) breaks out the Pit Bull, which I imagine is a bit closer to what you're going for.
-
Quote:Well yeah, you need real power like the Pit Bull to fly over water and such, right? If it merely floated a short distance above the ground, we would've called it a Hoverboard (in fact, that's exactly what we've been calling it around the office for quite some time). But because you'll have full multi-directional flight with this item, the name was revised to the more descriptive and accurate "Rocketboard."
Wait 'til you see a true demonstration of this thing. It's pretty slick.

Quote:Hmmm, Bo Staff and a hoverboard, why do I suddenly have flashes of the old Masters of the Universe movie?I show the video an looks awesome.
Also the animation when the you getting up the hover board:
Hover board comes flying behind your character, then the avatar jumps on it and start flying. Pure awesome.
Almost as impressive as the Bo staff melee leaked video. I wish I had downloaded that. If its for real, its going to be my favourite powerset ever. -
Quote:No new annoucements?Nice try, Zombie Man.
It's an example of the kind of genre we'd like to explore. No new announcements today, I'm afraid.
Quote:Fans looking for new tights options might want to check out the upcoming Defender, CoT, and Celestial sets. All of these offer a fairly plain 'underlayer' for you to build on and that should mix and match more easily with other sets.
I don't recall this being announced previously. Anyone? -
If I had to guess, it's because there's so many ways to farm in this game, even using legitimate missions, that they'd probably lose income.

Quote:The price for powersets should exceed a single monthly stipend because that's the point where NCSoft starts making money by selling us point bundles, not even taking into account any possibilities of discounts at this point. My point is that making something too large a purchase is just going to see people "waste" their money on cheaper items and not have enough for the expensive ones at the end or - and I find this to be worse - end up having to NOT buy the cheap, enticing, cool little costume items they want for fear of not being able to buy a powerset afterwards.
Very high-price items aren't a good call for an item store. -
Quote:Yes, but I would assume the powersets are going to be some of the most desired items for sale.Guys, you need to remember that the VIP monthly "stipend" doesn't exist solely for the purchase of powersets. It exists for the purchase of costume items, special perks and the many different consumables that they're offering. To suggest that a VIP should save up, what?
-
My thought is that the price per powerset should exceed the monthly stipend of Tier 9 players. So, over 550 points.
Seeing as the point of these powersets is to sell them, the costs should be enough over the monthly stipend that folks won't be too offput by the idea, but also enough that they make some amount of profit for the amount of work that went into making them. This should be balanced for cost versus player desire for them.
I'm not saying that something that everybody wants should be more expensive and that something that a very small amount of people want should be less expensive. Rather that there needs to be a middleground between the two points where the largest amount of people will agree that that the value of any new powerset is worth the price we end up paying.
The value of powersets should also exceed that of a bundle or set of costume parts because there's enough situations where someone can design something vaguely similar to new sets that we can circumvent buying new costumes to make a different character. But, ultimately, while the clothes can define a character, new powersets mean that an even greater number of characters can be created. The price list that somebody produced earlier, set the magic super booster at the assumed value of 400 points.
The reason why I mention the monthly stipend comes into play is:
If the cost per powerset is below the stipend then we won't be as motivated to spend money to bolster this new market system and there will be less reasons to make new characters and the game will die sooner. Whereas, if they cost too much, the same will occur. So, the trick is to find that magic number over the monthly stipend where the cost will exceed the monthly stipend, but not be so much as to deter people from buying them.
The other thing to consider is that we should have enough points leftover so that we will consider buying more points when the next set comes out. Which I believe we can safely assume will be in multiple 400point(or $5.00) increments.
So, at the very least, the cost needs to be between 600($7.50) to 800($10.00) points(assuming that the price will not exceed the number in the preview) to make sense from the point of view of somebody selling these items and point bundles. -
Isn't Poison getting proliferated with issue 21? I could see a Fire/Poison corruptor working fairly well for a Hobgoblin-esque character. Granted, you might have to wait until Freedom launches. /traps and /devices from Corruptors/Defenders and Blasters would work fairly well too. Heck, now I'm getting a little jazzed about the idea and thinking that maybe I could wait until 21 for poison. Mmm, Dark attacks, yeah, also good.
I could almost see Dual Pistols working too, what with the ammo types and effects, not that people swap out to different types that often, but that's definitely an option if you wanted to have a bigger bag of tricks.
