    So yeah, it can happen.

Granted when you get to the higher levels and start making the serious influence things are ok. But low level? It's tough.

Edit: On second thought in the regular game I could actually use the market effectively to make enough money to get what I need. But without it, even selling salvage and inventions doesn't cut it.
Yeah, nobody uses the consignment houses in Beta.

That's odd. Running just tip missions and utilizing the market in a relatively simple way, by not selling common salvage below vendor cost, I usually end up with enough inf to cover at least 3 characters with SOs by 22 if needed.

If I, as a 10-ish year old kid, can jump feet first in the middle of Crisis on Infinite Earths, and figure out what's going on, then I have a hard time swallowing the older fans that complain about not wanting to get into comics because of "continuity getting in the way."

It's not that hard to figure out what characters are up to. It's just a matter of wanting to do a little footwork and asking other people what's going on and being willing to accept that sometimes you don't know everything that's going on right now.

Y'know, like everything else in the world. I don't expect that I'll ever know everything about every single character or story arc any more than, I'll ever figure out the unified field theory or get to know everybody that lives on the same block or apartment building that I live on/in.

To me, the best way to get into comics is to: Just jump in. That way, when you look around and have questions, you'll find other people to talk about these things with, rather than it being just a solitary pursuit. Just a matter of finding a community that likes talking about comics.

Copy, paste, repair. Three basic steps.

I fail to see how this constitutes "headachy".
  5. Y'know, much as I'd support the idea of a this as an ancillary power pool, I'd really rather see it as a general power pool. Because the pistol attacks seem, to me, to be a more central part of the character. I'd hate to have to wait 'til late into a character, even if it were as "early" as 35, to have to get this character defining sort of ability.

For my money, and I mean that I would pay for this, I'd rather have it an option in the same point as the Fighting or Travel pool powers. And no, snagging a recipe for a snubnose pistol is not enough.

If I had to guess, the clipping that they're concerned with isn't the jetpack itself, but due to the way flying animations are posed, that the jet would burn the lower halves of our characters.

Look at the handful of jetpacks/zero-g pack that we can get currently to see how they've positioned the possible fire hazards.
  9. Is there a thread with all the Celestial screenshots that I'm missing?

You folks were really good about doing one up for the Incarnate armor, but so far I haven't seen a big Celestial set thread. Is it because of it being limited to tier 9?

Level 23 now. And thanks to SOs and power pools, I can run up against Council, Warriors, Sky Raiders and most Tsoo with relatively no problem. Arachnos is sort of a bear with some of the LTs, not looking forward to the Bane Spider Scout or Tarantulas showing up. The main thing was to always have the utility belt, because when I started him there weren't any temp power recipes, just Safeguard side mission temps, and later Day job accolade powers (frag, stun and sleep grenades).

I needed the Fighting Pool, mostly because AR as a primary that I wasn't going to use, meant that I was really short for actual attacks. I've considered taking beanbag, and maybe M-80 Grenade and/or Ignite, as they could be seen as "utility belt" items. But, so far Air Superiority and both fighting pool attacks, on top of just vet powers have done wonders. I probably should get the leaping pool for Jump Kick, Combat Jumping and the soon to come new jump attack. But, that means a respec, so I'll probably wait for Freedom to come down. I took the presence pool for the Fear, but I think wasting a pick and fear effects being what they are, really don't seem to help out at all at this stage.

I am contemplating a similar build with Dual Pistols/Traps Corruptor when Freedom comes down so that the character can go straight to hero without having to run 20 levels of villain or Praet with a wonky set and come right out the gate as a heroine. I think I can squeeze the Stun attack and Swap Ammo into the concept(as well as I have a lot of power picks thanks to almost no primary picks), to simulate borrowed weapons from the character's rogues gallery, seems like all three fire/ice/toxic would work fairly well in-theme as the stun/hold.

This new idea from the OP sounds like it'll be much better off.

I think running around with a proton pack strapped to my back would be a young person's game.

I'm glad that Ackroyd recognizes that he's old and that he could make a new franchise out of this with a young cast as opposed to a Ghostbusters' version of Golden Girls.

  13. Two words: Apes. Dinosaurs.

Figure a way to get them in-game, as enemies as well as a set of ape heads for the ape-inclined players to run with.

When I see some one in a gunfight standing stock still, I don't think they're cool or brave, I think they're a damn idiot for making themselves such an easy target.
As opposed to pretty much every other blaster powerset?

to the OP: Yeah, I could see myself willing to part with money to have new animations for a powerset.

As for Dual Pistols, all I really want is the three pistol animations for the Thugs mastermind attacks. I can live with the rest of the set being what it is, but the basic attacks to have the option to swap out, or better yet, add it into the set so that it's not always the same attacks for the second attack and the cone. I'd just like to add a smidge more variety to the look of two of the three most used attacks in my attack chain.
  15. Off the top of my head these are the things I use a lot:

    Justice shoulder pads
    Layered shoulder pads
    Tights smooth
    Warrior armored gloves
Trenchcoat w/ long sleeves and sinister gloves
    Sport boots
Cowboy boots as dress shoes w/slacks
    Work boots.
  16. I wonder how they managed to make asymmetrical patterns on shields.

Why make a new set when you have the set needed right infront of you? It's more a waste to reimagine it as a new set than just add functionality to available sets because then you just have more sets to balance.
And the old set is already balanced in-game, so the biggest hurdle seems to be done already.

You want pain in the pancake? Try running up against Arachnos with only the fighting pool and air superiority, temp powers, a handful of vet powers and /devices.

With Assault Rifle as my primary I'm tempted to snag beanbag, grenade and ignite just to add in a little more survivability/"utility belt" powers.

The article is pretty vague about details. Notice the description of the group, they mention the reboot, but refer to the original, where the new version doesn't use the same set-up device.

Seems to me, that the article was written by somebody that used the first paragraph or so of the wikipedia entry as a description of the group.

Whereas, this interview from a year ago: http://splashpage.mtv.com/2010/08/06...of-the-galaxy/

He specifically mentions the recent revamp.

Besides, advertising means another business relationship for Paragon/NC Soft to worry about in addition to subscribers (i.e. us). That's proved tricky in the cases of tv and magazines, and there's no indication it wouldn't be similarly corrupting for games.
I think the fake ads are more immersion breaking than ads for real products. Particularly, the comedic ones.

Ah, but we can! There's a shotgun temp power that you can snag from side missions in the Safeguards and Mayhems. I believe there's also a holy shotgun temp power in one of the Striga missions as well. And pretty much anyone can snag a sledgehammer recipe(I believe the recipe is called Gabriel's Hammer) fairly easily off the Auction house, as it uses the two-handed hammer swing. Same goes for the St. Louis Slugger recipe, two-handed bat swing.

I wish they'd expand the temp weapon recipes to include a Shotgun recipe, if we wanted one on a regular basis.

    Rocket Boards?

While ice slide would be a nice travel type to have, I'd like to see more flying platforms or some kinds of mounts first, as I have a lot of just human characters that would like to get around by something other than temp travel packs or the two run types. But, that being said, more diverse options all around is what I'm looking for.

Also, my hope is that we'd be able to keep affect only self toggles running while using these travel powers.
