  1. It would be handy if we could get some kind of solid ruling on this from a red name as its a question that's come up a few time.

how would the body change ability be given to people who haven't bought the pack without devaluing the booster pack itself? .

    [/ QUOTE ]

this I suppose is the centre of the issue make it free in the future and you devalue the pack that's why if the possibility of it becoming a free feature at some point in the future is being considered they should add something else to the booster. this was why i suggested the temp self buff power or a temp pet summon power

some other ideas that occur to me are some kind of tailor summon where players with the science pack could have access to the tailor screen no matter where they are.

Or and this is inspired by techbot alphas comment and is by far my favoured idea

Hows about a perma summon non combat pet assistant every good mad scientist has there helper just as Frankenstein had Igor we to could have our very own assistant who will follow us about either make him customisable via the tailor or offer a selection that ponder to the various variations of mad science so a Igor like hunchback/mutant thing or some strange robot gizmo either walking or hovering.

While active the "Igor" would give you accses to more storage for salvage/recipes and stuff

May I also point out a gfx update doesn't necessarily mean you need more power, a gfx overhaul might leave you needing LESS power in fact, since the engine might run much smoother than the old beast we have and it still might look better.

It gets sort of funny when I (occationally) "lag" out in grandville at times, but not in the most demanding sequences in the most demanding games on the market at the moment.

That's not down to this being an MMO, Grandville being a huge zone or anything like that, it's just an old engine trying to do something it wasn't designed for. ITF Lag hill, nukes freezing the screen, missing/black textures etc, a gfx overhaul is long overdue imho and I'll stick to that!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh without a doubt a GFX over hall would be a massive inprovment butt to bring it up to the point Razor wants seem to me to be asking to much.

But if they were going to do a upgrade they should do it right and add better models with higher polygon counts and what not and these are going to up the requirements of the game and while yes they could do the eve thing and have to clients did eve not eventually abandon there low end client as it was to much work to maintain both?

But before they do anything even remotely like open world PvP they need to sort out PvP no way should powers differ from PvE to PvP its just silly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agreed.. its stupid that a defender can win from a tanker. Some matches are just impossible. And the game shouldnt rectify that. It makes a very unrealistic image to see a daredevil win from a Hulk.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually I disagree (kind off) a daredevil should be able to beat a hulk its a comic book stable that the apparently out matched character can pull a win out of no where and its exactly this purpose that inspirations serve.

and that needs to be maintained in CoH that's why they need to rebalance everything not just PvP IMPO they should move PvP back so that it exactly matches PvE and then work from there

first thing i would do is remove the individual AT caps this thing of a blaster having a higher damage cap than a tank but the tank having a higher resistance cap is just plain stupid make them all the same that way insps really come into play that tank can swallow those 10 reds and lay the smack down on a scrapper or that controller can swallow dozen oranges and purples and survive a blasters full on assault.

and all this rubbish of using isps is cheating is a big steaming pile of dog poo Insps represent that moment where spidy uses the hulks on momentum to KO him against a wall or that instant where batman avoids that bullet that was seconds ago coming for his head.

So make all the caps the same but keep the ATs at there current levels that way its possible for every AT to reach the same heights but some will reach some caps easier than others

I'm a big fan of the booster packs and have purchased everyone so far but i really dont feel that the below feature is something that should be in a booster pack and should be available to all players.

    [ QUOTE ]
as well as the new Super Tailor feature that will allow you to change the inherent body type of your character to Male, Female or Huge for each costume slot

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [/ QUOTE ]

I know what you mean BM, A shape/sex-changing emote has been a long-requested feature and It does make me wonder if the long requested stuff like this is now flagged and destined for the micro-transaction packs to optimise profit.

Still, Nice key-framing animation on the emotes Devs!, considering these are done by hand and not motion-captured, I thought they turned out really well, the timing and humour in the emotes is great. I suspect Werewolves all over Paragon are going to be allright NoOoOooOoow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think you might be missing the point here, look at the last 2 boosters... we had Aura's with the first one, and then got them in game, costume change emotes with the next one and now they are in game. I would expect I16, or maybe 17 to introduce this to everyone.

Although it doesn't work as well as the other 2 did because there aren't extra options like there were with the costume change and auras.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is something i could see them doing and while it wouldn't bother me i know some people would complain that they had paid for something and now it was free.

The thing to remember is even tho this is a old idea I get the impression that its the fact that it is going to generate extra cash as part of the booster pack that got it the green light i think its quite likely that if this wasn't included in the booster pack we wouldn't see this feature for several issues.

The bottom line is this. When people buy new PCs nowadays, they're going to be better than most of the PCs people have had for 5-6 years.

New PCs are more expensive, and people who buy them are already going to be able to play most games at a suitable level.

Enthusiasts will splash out for more beasty PCs to play games. Graphics and computer hardware are doubling around every 18 months, and it has done so for the last 10 years.

The world isn't going to be stuck in the past because some people refuse to upgrade, it'll just leave you behind.

This game could CERTAINLY do with a gfx upgrade, to make it more marketable to graphics enthusiasts with amazing computers.

You don't pay £400 for an Nvidia GTX 295 graphics card with 98 billion texture fill rate per second (which is more than double of my GTX 280) to play low-end games.

This game can, and should get a graphics update.

    [/ QUOTE ]
So people who have spent 2k on a new beast of a PC are going to buy a five year old game why?

The only people who will buy it are those who are interested in Hero Type games, and with CO début soon there won't be many.

Tacking on fancy graphics will not make the game younger.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Its also worth noteing that not all new PC will play the latest games hell some new PC wont even play older games the PC market is full of bottom end low speck PCs that can be had for a few hundread quid (cheapest i've seen being just over £200) the first thing to be cut from a low end PC to make it cheep is graphics you very rarely get a low end PC that has a good nvidea or ATI chip set in it (hell you luck if they have anythin above the bog standard intel chip set) next to get hit is memory.

take this Monster from ebuyer sounds great on screen what with its nvidea graphics and its 2 gig of ram but

and it probably is its the kind of PC i would tell my parents to get if they were after a new one its nice a small and more than likely great for surfing the web and watching TV thrue iplayer but i bet its less than great for playing games and yes before its pointed out it would probably run CoH but the question is would it run CoH if CoH got a graphics update?
  7. [ QUOTE ]
I know what you mean... but can't think of the word.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The best work I can come up with is atmosphere, but i don't think that covers what was being described
  8. We'll it would seem its castles fault.

    link

Going by his post he was asked to come up with a power and couldn't so suggested the Ultra Tailor and to be fair its very fitting for the science set and if it was just removed and stuck in as a issue feature it would make i15 seem very light.

Perhaps there's still time tho for another science power to be implemented and the Ultra Tailor feature to be opened up for all.

Personally i would suggest some kind of temp power using the drink emote have the power either grant a random self buff (with the buffs being in a similar vain to those from Fortune) it could even be codded to transform you in to a verity of beasts for the length of the buff.

Another option could be to use the Mix emote where the concoction is thrown on the ground and have a random pet be summoned as if your mad science as given brief life to something that should not be.
  9. As long as its a flag system I think it would work yes you'll get the morons that will run up to people RPing and annoy them but you get that the now.

Hell maybe they could code it so people who don't have there pvp flag on cant even be seen by people that have the PvP flag set.

But before they do anything even remotely like open world PvP they need to sort out PvP no way should powers differ from PvE to PvP its just silly.
  10. I wonder if you'll be able to buy that Architect edition and use the code from it to get SB:III as I've still to get Architect on one of my accounts.
  11. Illusion control could make a rather cool MM set and I don't see why Dominators and masterminds cant both have a illusion themed set.

As for Dark blasters what they have to do with Illusion i have no idea
  12. Razor your missing something very important tho CoX graphic are in computer terms is pretty enchant and a simple texture update wouldn't help matters a great deal.

To do it properly you would need to pump life into the city more realistic trees, more realistic garbage sitting on the street corners, having grafity appear as that random helion spray paints the wall, true reflective surfaces, etc etc

Then you would need NPC to populate the zone and they would need a graphics update so that they looked better or they would stick out like a soar thumb.

Some of these changes would require more than just a lick of paint and going by how GV can bring a relativity good PC to its knees I would hate to think what would happen if all the zones were brought up to GV levels or above

A proper graphics overhaul for CoH is not just a matter of adding extra slide to the right hand side of the slider its a full on rip out what's there and rebuild to current standards and when all that's said and done you can bet that at least some of the current subscription base wont be able to run it at what they did
  13. Wooo hooo here NC have cash take it take now
  14. Well i think the Forum integration is good idea with any luck it'll shortly be followed by a server list merge.

  17. To be fare you don't have to be a red name to work out storage costs in general terms as its simple a matter of size = cost so say 10Gb = £10 and of course as we would be talking HDDs the price is not fixed as the higher in capacity the HDD the lower the cost per Gb normally.

Of course for exact pricing we would need to know all kinds of extra information such as what kind of hardware they were curently running and what kind of space a PEAR would take up but considering currently its perfectly possible for every hero and villain out there to create there own personal base there must be some provision for needing that amount of storage.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
I reckon Illusion Control would be fine as is.

More to the point I think it'd be overpowered if one of the Invises was dropped in favour of another AOE control power, especially a AOE Fear one. You could double / triple stack fears with 2 powers (thanks to the way Spectral Terror works).

Give Spectral Terror grant a good chunk of Domipoints (what are they called?) when summoned, ditto with PAs and maybe drop the animation time of Deceive a bit to allow it to be used more as a staple control power.

Edit : Also is there any reason they couldn't attach a second AOE fear effect to the Spectral Terror summoning power if Domination was running?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not that I can think of tho it could be as simple as marking Domination as a Inherited buff for Spectral terror that way if It was summoned after domination was triggered it would receive the benefits granted by domination e.g increased mez duration and magnitude.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
I'm not wrong, and Domination does still matter. Mez protection? You think that makes no difference? Then try the full endurance recharge, even more important now Doms use more EPS.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well as I've been testing the dom changes over the last few nights using a verity of doms ranging fro 5 to 32 i can say that I've had no real endurance problems I still save domination for Hard fights which are fewer on test as the higher damage overall makes fights easier. So i've found i need domination up less than i do on live.
  20. I was going to just post the first link but then decided that i really couldn't be bothered with another thread consisting of "The Devs ruined the game I'm quitting" posts.
  21. I think your wrong Praf as far as I'm aware Melee powers in the seconder build domination the fastest

However even assuming your correct I fail to see how it matters with the way dominator's have been rebalanced domination building is less important now and given that Illusion has the very spam able combination of Spectral wounds and Blind I don't think building up the domination bar is going to be a problem.
  22. [ QUOTE ]

Awful lot of assumption there though, old chap Your points are also entirely valid. However, the MA does massively increase the chance of, call them 'Farmed' players, for those who have no idea how the game works in any great depth.
Now, your quite right that you got them before MA. I teamed with a few myself Now some were simply like I was when I started out, a bit 'Hoo boy, hows this all work?'. When I commented, advice and chat was exchanged, and things went well. On other occassions, it didnt go so well, with the other member normally throwing a fit of some sort, and generally a few insults

The MA also causes a problem, mainly in Atlas, of somewhat choking any chance of using broadcast for anything other than LFF messages. Before, you could lob a question out there, and normally get two to three workable answers, alongside some humourous comments. Nowadays its hard enough to say anything without getting lost in the torrents. And yes, that is when its busy. Because when its quiet theres very people on (I keep villainous hours )

Anyway, as ever, it's simply my opinion. There are others that hold a similar opinion. If the Devs percieve it as a problem, as we do, they will do something about it (Hopefully). If they think its all WAI, then thats the way it will stay.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Assumptions are fun

It seems to me that the problem many have with MA is not that it allows people to level quickly but that it jams up the chat channels in Atlas which really isn't MAs fault.

Seems one option and probably far easier than removing a building would be to deaden chat from inside the MA buildings so that chat that happened within the MA building on specific channels (broadcast, Local, etc) wouldn't be heard out with the building.

  25. Your missing the Point Alpha the Major argument is that new player will start of doing MA stuff and never move away from it yet if that new player wants a cape or aura or vanguard costume or Roman costume there going to have to move away from the MA by your own example your sewer team found the sewers fun and from that experience will probably go looking for fun in more places than MA that same "fun" can be found doing the cape and aura missions (well aura one not so much but it dose force you to see the city). If they want the vanguard parts there going to have to go do at least some of the RWZ content. and if they want Roman costume parts there going to need to do a TF all these things mean moving out of the MA building.

Many on these boards seem to think oh new player will get on a evil farming team and then that's all the'll do they will never learn the game but thats just hyper bowl there have been posters on this forum that started with MA got power leveled/farmed up the levels but there still here and still playing.

Speaking from personal experience any MA farm team I've been on has not been a door sitting exercise the team within the mission has all been active. so those people are learning the game just a different way than us older players did.

Further maybe if some of the older "veteran" players weren't quite so elitest they mite actually find that some of these new levelled thrue MA players can actually play and are quite good I've lost count the number of times I've seen some one post something along the lines of
"if they don't have badge X they've been power levelled and aren't worth teaming with"
    Or the
"teamed with a tank and he didn't have Mezz protection" which seems to be attributed to MA players yet you got tanks without Mezz protection long before MA came along maybe its some one experimenting with a new build or maybe its some kind of themed toon. but no they must be dirty power levellers
