I recon its some kind of marketing ploy delay the web release by a few hours and force every body to go out and actually buy the boxed edition which i would happily do if they had decided to release the bloody thing in the UK muble muble muble grrrr muble

And yes, your suggestion does break game law in so far that your initial encounter as a villain is that Arachnos and Kalinda seem to think you've got what it takes to be one of the Chosen Ones. If you get stomped on by Longbow from day 1 that's no way to prove anything to anyone. (Not often I agree with the Phantoms but I do on this.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry your wrong there scarlet if you follow the CoV story as one of the standared ATs then you've allready been stomped on by longbow or PPD hence why your in the Zig -

But you can be only lvl 1 in Outbreak...does that mean you have to start all over again in the Rogue Isles?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, you can be level 1 in Atlas, Galaxy or Mercy Island too, if you skip the training zone.
[/ QUOTE ]
No. I'm meaning that in Raamon's suggestion, when the villain reaches the co-op zone level cap, Longbow start ambushing you, and if you're defeated you're taken to Breakout. (sorry, I meant Breakout in my earlier post)
You can only be level 1 in Breakout, so for example if the co-op zone level cap was level 8 and you were defeated, you would return to Breakout...as a level 1. So you are basically de-levelling if you're defeated
[/ QUOTE ]
Well what they could do is what actually happens to your character in game when your flung in the Zig your de powered by some means and once you are freed you have to regain your abilities so incorporate that into the original suggestion
as a villain you can start in galaxy city this area is lvl 1 to 10 after lvl 10 you're draw a lot of attention and will be attacked by paragon PD and longbow ambushes some of which will contain high powered mobs making your defeat likely so its in your interests to flee the area with all haste.
If defeated you are considered arrested and transported to the Zig effectively forcing you into doing the breakout mission as you could be potentially lvl 10 while in the Zig you are lakied down to lvl 1 you would still be more powerful than some one starting out at the zig dependent on slotting but this could be handled by only being recently arrived this would also help to explain how once you escape the Zig you return to your previous lvl as the power inhibitors have not had long anuff to work on you so ware of far quicker. -
On the subject of Reichsman its likely he developed similar ideals to our (CoH main universe) recluse but instead of subverting archnos he joined up with the Axis powers.
As to the 5th remember that tho the world of CoH shares some of the real worlds events its pretty divergent its possible the italians were far more powerful especially if they were secretly backed by the nictus also the actual 5th seem to be more like a sub group to the Axis powers something like the SS maybe, they were/are lead by Requiem
the vampires are result of Nosferatu development of super soldiers and aren't in fact true vampires
the werewolves are something else there's suggestion that there the result of some kind of experiment but its yet to be revealed what exactly creates them there numbers did increase dramatically tho once the 5th were absorbed into the council -

I always find it a bit of a shame to be honest if a religions strong anuff it should be able to take a bit of creative interpretation but you can bet that we wont see Jesus appear alongside hercules and Thor in the avengers any time soon.
[/ QUOTE ]
Usually the religions are strong enough - but the followers vary wildly.
Just look at religious violence/extremism... Whichever religion you care to look at, any violence carried out by purported followers has often been from a splinter-view that varies from the main. Most people, whatever religion they follow, are pretty moderate and can get along with others who are not enlightened enough to follow the true faith.
[/ QUOTE ]
Very true here's to a more tolerant world
(not that it'll ever happen while the human race is about if we werent fighting over religion it would be over somthing else) -
going into the future and trying to create a army of shevians isn't exactly a brilliant idea either but Aion dosent worry about these things.
More importantly doing it in the real world may not be a good idea but this is CoH land where there are people wandering the streets with more fire power than a small army -

I think CoX is rather unchristian already when it comes to God(s). It seems rather polytheist, when you see for example the banished pantheon, and that States got his powers from the fountain of Zeus. Heck, even magic in general is unchristian. However, nothing in the game outright denies the existence of a monotheistic God or acts against it, so meh. The other 'Gods' could just be really powerful things if you want to look at it like that.
I think it's a good thing that most games don't touch on this kind of thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
yea CoH seems very pathion centric much like its source material take a look at DC or Marvel they have both the pathions popping up all over the shop but tend to in general stay clear of a "real" life monotheistic god (course there's exceptions like Ghostrider and that Angel from the justice league but even then we only really see the angels not the god)
I always find it a bit of a shame to be honest if a religions strong anuff it should be able to take a bit of creative interpretation but you can bet that we wont see Jesus appear alongside hercules and Thor in the avengers any time soon. -

Personally I'd like a global server merge if the devs could figure out a way to do it lag-free (which seems very improbable).
I liked bits of the OP's suggestion. I liked the idea of giving villains access to some brighter zones. For me the villains zones are comparatively laggy and extremely ugly. As soon as I hit 35 I'm out of them and on to greener pastures. I'm not really sure about the idea of giving villains straight access to Paragon due to the lore issues that would arise if we didn't have open PvP - and I don't want open PvP. Games using open PvP have to be literally built around that idea. Matrix Online is a brilliant example: there were no classes, one simply unlocked powers and mixed and matched them as needed. It was also possible to 'jack-in' to a hardline and instantly change all your character's powers for free. Hardlines could also be used to teleport from hardline to hardline, so if a PvP fight broke out in one area and the Merovingian players were heavily outnumbered they could get pretty much instant backup from their clan. Given that CoX hasn't got these features open PvP wouldn't be feasible.
But still, partially /signed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh i dont know with te current PvP set up every ones largly the same now any ways as for instant back up CoH allready has somthing in place lore wise in the form of the emergincy teloprtation network and while its normally only used to get defested heroes to medical facilitys it can be used to travel as thats how manticore gets around.
So hardlines could be replaced by multaple TP becaons in a zone and SGs could TP to them on mass to help a freind in need they could even have eatch player act as i kind of TP beacon so team mates could instantly TP to there side
but to do any of that they would need to sort out PvP first and hopefully bring back the indevidual aspecs of the ATs. -
when you put it like that yea it is a bit odd but any religious group that is so close minded that they cant let people believe in something else is normally largely ignored by the general population (yea i know in the US they get a bit more air time but for every the tarot is evil organisation there's a mystic group as well)
plus the tarot is suitability non committal to either good or evil that i can be used by either faction
Its also not part of any one religion so there not showing favoritism to Christianity, catholicism, Buddhism etc etc -
well was in RWZ last night and got to see the MA building up close and i don't see the problem with it the only reason it looks odd is because its not damaged but as a new building it wouldn't be now all wee need is for a few more buildings to appear in the same are it would represent the rebuilding of the RWZ.
-
Yes in principal but it would have to be done correctly setting aside the name issue as its probably the most complicated issue to solve and looking at the open world scenario it dose make a lot of sense villains and heroes exist in a form of symbiosis one needs the other to be complete but at the same time its gonna look weird if a lvl 50 villain can stroll into atlas or a lvl 1 hero can wander through grandsvil there for exclusion zones would need to be created areas where only heroes/villains can go.
Also what about PvP making it a free for all wouldn't work as not everybody is a fan so a form of flagged pvp would have to be implemented
then there's the matter of perception the merging of servers is seen as a bad stage in the development of a MMO (even if its not) its a sign that the game is entering its twilight years so this would have to be handled correctly and would more likely result in a EU - US merge than a strait Union - Defiant merge at least that way it can be spun as a bringing together of the communities and a globalisation of the city of heroes brand roll it together with a issue that introduces international locations/missions and you have a positive win. -

Oh not faced any of them yet hopefully by the time i do ill have plenty of skills

its people with the bear that i hate even worse is the bear axe and net.

Happy (late) birthday DW hope you had a good one.
-
Well he'll have the same master account for US and EU accounts i would assume so that wont affect it. I would also guess its determining your region from your IP so the only way for it to automatically log to the US version would be to have a US IP.

Just found this . Not THAT funny, but highlights rather well what most of the playerbase are probably going to use MA for.
Seems a bit odd that NC have spent the last couple of issues doing all they can do limit farming, then they devote one issue which appears to make it ridiculously easy.
[/ QUOTE ]
I liked the captain Dynamic series. But it is less funny now that farmers found how to farm missions. It also proves the need for a more diverse rating system.
Like Farmable, story, difficulty, badgey, canon, levelrange
[/ QUOTE ]
Level Range. For the love of all that's holy please let us search for missions within a suitable level range. As well as screening out AVs and /or EBs if we want (I'm tired of running across EBs with annoying Tier 9s)
[/ QUOTE ]
Ill second that nothing ruins a fun arc more for me than coming up against a EB i just can't take down no matter how many purple/red/yellow pills i pop. -
why is it stupid tho? admitedly building a entertainment complex in a war zone dose seem a bit mad but then consider who's running the show the good Dr is hardly the poster child for sain now is he.
Add this to the fact that its probably quite a astute business move
war zone = soldiers lots of them
lots of soldiers = lots of potential clients all looking for a bit of R and R
not to mention the heroes that will be based there fighting the rikti you can just bet that crey is taking notes and measurements of the abilities of the MA users expect to see them in the next generation paragon protectors
Also changing the exterior of the building wouldn't work the inside of the building isn't a instance its actually within the building so they would need to change the lay out of the inside as well as the out side. -
But if the (vocal)majority are using it for MA then that's what its for add to the fact that broadcast has pretty much always been filled with some form of spam and i don't see what some one spamming MA requests matters.
are we saying that one type of spam is better than another? -
Yes..um No bugger it i don't know.
On one hand i can totally see where your coming from the MA buildings should fit in with the surrounding architecture however on the other hand its pretty common for a new building to not fit in with its surroundings especially in cities and considering these are "new" constructions it dose seem some what fitting that they should stick out a little. -
Isn't that kind of the point broadcast is just the general chat channel for people shouting out announcing things on it such as MA runs seems like a perfectly reasonable use of it.
