    To much farming

The thing i don't get is whats actually wrong with farming/power leveling and why are some forms of the 2 more acceptable than others.

it seems that OK to farm Specific mobs for special badges.

it seems Ok to farm MA missions if your doing it for the badges

it seems ok to power your way through missions to lvl faster

but its not ok to do the same mission multiple times to get XP?

I personally don't see the difference in any of these.

A lot of people don't seem to like farming and so believe it should be band/removed why? whats it doing to harm you? is it stopping you from playing how you like to play? are the farmers forcing you to play a specific way?

In short i seems to be a case of
"I do not like it, So you should not do it"

Stone has a higher ST damage than SS out of rage stone also comes with some good control

Warmace again has exilent control and after the recent buffs is a bit of a monster set.

Dualblades while low damage is very quick much quicker than SS and has the added value of the combos

Axe is still a bit of a duffer and is some waht eclipsed by warmace these days but still has a fair bit of control in its set and probably still has higher damage than SS when not using rage.

So for SS to function for tanks and brutes it needs rage to be permable if it was going to be changed i wouldn't mind seeing it become a fixed recharge with recharge = duration that would at least be a buff as much as it was a nerf.

Even though i farm and i'll happily admit it, i have to say that it is just TOO easy as things are.

My friends and i wanted to see how fast a really poor team (by poor i mean using things to farm with that aren't usual) could farm. It turns out it's not much slower than a proper farm team.

We did 1-50 in just over 8 hours Piccy*

That's absolutely stupid. Lower the amount of mobs in a mission and also lower the amount of rescues you can have. Also fix the aggro cap, because herding 5 mobs is obviously a bug. Back to i3 ftl!

*I took the time behind the personal info as it would be harder to fake and thus being more trustworthy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't think toons that couldn't farm before being able to farm now is a bad thing at at least puts every one on a more equal footing

I agree about the number of rescues it seems a ridiculous that you can have 40+ rescues on a single mission.

Personally, I'm sick and tired of all the "soon" rubbish, and no longer expect ANYthing from NC.

    [/ QUOTE ]

So just what exactly do you think the 3-times-as-large dev team are doing right now?
Jay previously made costume parts and new NPCs at the same time while working on his own, so obviously with an assistant now he's only capable of making a few costume parts for a booster pack.
BAB used to work alone too - but he's got at least one assistant in the animation department now - so I guess NCSoft really wanted to make sure that /e cardtrick emote looked just right?
War Witch - who does zone NPC tyext and placement - is certainly blackmailing NSCSoft to keep her job, as she's had next to no work in the previous two Issues.
And NCSoft, well aware of the two new superhero MMOs on the way, rehired Sean "Manticore" Fish - the CoH story/lore guru - right after they bought the game, because they thought it'd be cool for him to hang out with his old work team again?
And apparently NCSOft are still looking to hire more for the dev team - just to help out the economy, of course.
So now that the MA is released - quite obviously the last thing left on their "to do" list - they call all kick back with soda or coffee and fully enjoy their renamed studio while NCSoft donates even more cash to them.
Because it's totally unlikely that the devs would actually be working, or have a strategy bulit around the release of possible competitor MMOs, or that NCSoft would even want them to do this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

just look at super reflexes and it should be obvious why this is a valid point ask for build advise and the general reply is ignore elude and soft cap your defences there for whats the point of the tier 9 at least with the likes of energy it brings a health boost and endurance recovery with it.

    [ QUOTE ]

    6) (Or 7, seeing as you missed 6.)
Stalkers are not meant to be, nor ever were meant to be, the same as Brutes/Scrappers. They are totally different ATs, with massively different styles. Stalkers have low end costs and hide capabilities. Brutes have mass hitting powers, but need the Fury bar and have high end cost attacks. /Unsigned, it works fine as is.

    [/ QUOTE ]

No there supposed to be a glass cannon (or sword i suppose in there case) but so much of there play stile is reliant on the build up/AS/placate trinity which seems a bit limiting when i think about it and yes you can play the non AS stalker but that only works with energy really or you have the scrappy stalker but often your still stuck within a very rigid frame work of powers you need to do your job. At the very least a successful AS should match a brutes maxed out fury attack for damage. tho maybe a better idea would be to shorten the animation time of AS (so that its possible to AS a mob before a maxed out brute slaughters the entire spawn) and increase its debuff/fear effect back up slightly.

I think this was kind of the point influence in some way represents your standing within the community hence the bigger the challenge and the more active you are the more influence you acquire (not sure how getting enhancements factors into that)

So as your only facing virtual foes why would you receive as much inf as you would receive fighting the real thing.

Tho you could argue that its like TV stars they don't really do what there portrayed as doing but are famous for it any ways.

    To much farming

Farmings been part of CoH for as long as I've been playing (started Feb 05) and to be honest i haven't seen a massive increase in it maybe slightly but i think much of the perceived increase is because people are more vocal about it now (be they for or against it)
  11. Basically what Col_Blitzkrieger says taunt wont solve all your problems but it will help and if you can get in one of the patron ranged AoE (either the imob or the strait up attack( your on a winner the important thing to remember is that taunt has a range modifier (sorry no idea how it works) and is more effective the closer you are to the target so using taunt on a target across the room may get them to come your way but another brute or even corrupter could attracted there attention. but use it on a mob your already in contact with and they'll most likely stick to you like glue as long as you frequently re-taunt them (brutes don't have punch voke unfortunately)

The target you probably want to aim for is to be first to your desired targets that way taunt and your taunt aura will keep them as your targets.

    [ QUOTE ]
I know most will be very unpopular but imo they would imrpove overall fun again...

    1) Lower damg cap on trollers, they were never intended to be damg dealers, this would get rid some troller farming builds since they wont benefit much from dmg buffs.

    2) Make tohit in rage +acc like in focussed accuracy, and either make rage unstackable or ad a 30% -regen - recovery debuff for each additional rage stacking. And no its not unfair to players with high recharge since rage is a clicky and you dont have to stack it and get the debuff.

    3) Remove inf from MA missions that arent devs choice.
inf doesnt fit the theme anyway, the mobs are supposed to be hologramms, why should they give something apart from xp and tickets anyway ?
That would at least partly adress the insane abuse of the MA as easy farm maps these days.

4)Buff elusivity for defensive sets in PvP again or remove deminishing returns just for def sets, atm def sets are back to be a bad joke in PvP since everyone can hit them like there were no def at all, even without rage or foc acc.

5)Add some love to the tier 9s of pure defense sets, like SR, Ninjitsu.
Considering how easy it is to softcap defense on these, a tier9 that ads 70% def is pretty useless. Actually it only helps a tiny bit against high accuracy mobs or mobs with crazy +tohit.
Defese/resist mixed sets like WP or SD get much more out of tier9s since they really buff up survivability.
Maybe ad some +res into defense tier9s or a +regen.

    7) For gods sake buff Assasin strike damg in PvE a huge amount.
Its totally stupid und beyond me, that most brutes can deal more damg with their attacks that cant be interrupted than a stalker can deal with AS.
If a whole AT is centered around a single attack like AS and therefore is more squishy than the other meele classes, that attack had to be truly outstanding in terms of damg.
As it is AS is pretty gimp compared to normal brute attcks.

Those are just my views how to improve the game a bit, so pls dont flame if you dont like them, just explain why you think it would be bad to implement those.

Btw why the hell are the forums in french now, pls change them back to english......

    [/ QUOTE ]

Must say i agree with all of these also could some elusivity not be added to def sets would that not help them vs Mobs whith high To-Hit values
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I think what they need to do is focus MORE on the bits that make CoX so damn good.
    Costumes, powersets and big fights.

More costume options, let the imagination buckle under how much we can do.
More sets, let diversity be king.
More fights, let they be epic in the extreme!
    Etc

    [/ QUOTE ]

All the above are true these are the building blocks of CoH for me at least the thing that drags me back every dam time is the costume creator followed by the fact even as a lvl 1 i can wipe the floor with 3 street thugs at once.

Please dev's build on these things MA is great and lots of fun but it has also left me wanting new combinations of powers (thorns/poison pls) also power customisation I accept that its a difficult near impossible thing to implement but it would truly be the next evolution for the costume creator.
  14. basically yes it would not sure it would be strong anuff to pull mobs from another brute at range but if used on mobs that are close are around you in melee is should keep them stuck to you.

you can also obviously use it on a spawn before your team reach it so that you get the initial agro and then its the other brutes that have to take the mobs from you.

Also keep in mind that soul drain and dark consumption can be treated as AoE attacks on a brute and both can take a taunt enhancements so you could even slot a single taunt in each to help keep mobs on you

    Electric Armour

See this thread and this thread while neither ate out right calls for electrical armour on tanks both touch on the changes needed before elec would work well on other ATs
  16. /signed to a red version of juggle emote

also a red version of the lightning strike could be ok.

    @MisterJ
So why did you feel the need to rant in this thread where no one has thus far bad mouthed the Devs go rant at the complianers in one of the complaining threads
  17. I always find it pretty funny for the last 4 and a bit years every time a a new MMO has been due for release posts have appeared on the forum proclaiming that CoH is dead and MMO X is king.

Its not happened yet and several of those CoH killers now lye broken and battered at CoHs feet.

Now don't get me wrong champions is probably CoH biggest competitor what with it coming from the same studio that originally gave us CoH and the fact that its features list reads like the CoH suggestions thread but given that CoH still has at least 2 big features that CO doesnt and we still have no idea what kind of specs your gonna need to even run CO it could be a resource hungry monster and not every one has the uber PC to play those but they can probably play CoH just fine.

    [ QUOTE ]

So what is exactly the problem with MA farming and PL?

    [/ QUOTE ]

PLd players who have no idea how to play the game, resulting in a need to avoid PuGs, reducing the amount of spontaneous teaming on the server - which a EU server really cant afford.

Edit: If there is one thing that i miss from when i started the game it was that post-35 took a long time. You had no mission difficulty slider, no paper missions and frankly not enough missions to level to 50 if you only did your own. At the time i thought it was horrible, but what it did was increase teaming and ensure that people knew their toon inside out by 50.

This is my only problem with PL. I dont care what other players do until it affects me. Since i like to team and be social, at times i will be relying on another player to not suck.

    [/ QUOTE ]

To be fair its possible to run into players who have no idea how to play a toon even if they've played the game "properly" all the way to 50

and i agree some farm team I've been on have been great fun from my experience many of the "farmers" are in-fact small groups of friends and there is often some great banter going on between them so farm teams can be fun.

as things stand you can have the following

    mission 1: lvl 1-54
    mission 2: lvl 30-54
    mission:3: lvl 1 - 30

now under the current system any one from 1 to 50 can plat the mission all the way thru remove the auto SK and only lvl30+ could do the arc

Changing Granite from toggle to a clicky is not going to break the game but encourage players to play Smarter staying in Granite isnt needed you nerf your own damage and recharge when in Granite(would also stop the need for Speed Boost would'nt it and the need for teleport power??). Rooted tends to like teleport as well.

Without purples my granite (who never PL'd and has been kicking about for 3 years) has +40% recharge speed... before it's boosted with hasten. Swift and (if playing at 49/50) assault take the sting out of GAs run and damage debuffs.

Of course, they also mean that I've a decent dmg buff and recharge when out of GA as well...

It may be argued that stone tanks aren't as good as other tanks in many situations, but it's ridiculous to call them useless (as another poster did).

I picked a stoney after playing (In my 1st months in CoX) with a couple of excellent stone tanks, and I'm still convinced that they make great tanks. But it's like any AT/powersets - there are no really bad ones, just people who can't play them well...

oh they are great (make even greater brutes ) but to get them there you have to make use of IOs and set bonuses compare a SOed invul to a SOed stone the invul is far more versitile (even if i do hate invul)

No but it would brake stone functions tahnks to its ability to adapt (which i was trying to build on in my suggestion above) turn granit into a click and it becomes the worst teir 9 armour in the game not only dose it nerf your speed recharge and damage but by your suggestion would drain you of health and endurance when it failed.

so to balance it into a click you would have to remove its negatives or not have it drain health/end on failing either way you end up with a less than great tier 9

and the lower armours would still need a buff to bring them up to the same lvl as other non tier 9 using brutes/tanks
