    If you were in debt for several levels in those days, the problem wasn't with the debt levels, but with how you were playing your character... The devs only nerfed it because suicidal players kept moaning about it.

    My PB still doesn't have her first debt badge... And I've been playing her since June 2005.

    I disagree with the pair of you it was rather easy to get into a lot of debt in the old days and i was a tank so my ability to avoid or withdraw from combat were rather limited when tanking for a team.

    Oh.. I got a lot of debt back in the early levels ... But I learned to play better to my AT in time. You have to figure out how an AT is meant to be played and suddenly you die a lot less often. Unless you have a team of suicidal players. Nothing can protect you from that.

    Which is largely my point debt gave death meaning you wanted to avoid death so you played smarter modified tactics etc.

    Now there's far less debt so tactics largely go out the window, If head on charge doesn't work just keep repeating again and again till you eventually ware down your target (aka the lemming method)

    FFM you keep referring to your PB getting the debt badges very late on but by the point you get a PB you've already went thru the learning experience of playing another AT to 50 so your already playing smarter. How was your first character for deaths/debt?

    Ah, but a modest debuff, even a 25% one, can be easily overcome by popping a few insps. It still makes it a hindrance, but one that's overcomable.

    There IS precedent in CoH for this idea... That lab map with the destroyable buff/debuff stations.

    except if its been a hard fight there's a good chance you have no insps i know personally the first thing i do if the fight looks like it mite go south is start popping insps and I'm sure others do the same.

    IMO debuffs of any kind would be bad as if what your facing can kill you at full hp/regen/damage/whatever it gonna be able to kill you if your suffering a 10% debuff.

    for things like TF (and even standard missions to a degree) it can already be frustrating when get to a point where for whatever reason you have a team wipe or 2 now imagine that with each team wipe your being debuffed.
  5. Maybe I'm missing something but if the markets were merged would that not mean that villains would potentionaly get more per sale on the BM and that would help even out the hero/villain inf split?

    I can actually see where your coming from my first main was a tank and the debt could become a real problem but its went from one extreme (to much debt) to the other (not enuff debt) and i think that some kind of middle ground should be found.

    plus if the debt rewarded was returned to its old levels it would have less of a effect now than it did before thanks to the limit on the amount of debt you can acquire now being lower and patrol XP acting as a kind of debt buffer.

    Would that level be to high i cant tell but as i said in my original post i believe debt should be increased and at the very least the amount of debt gained inside and outside of a mission should be equalised.

    The thing is i don't think debt is working as intended and to the best of my knowledge the dev's have never made comment on weather it is or not.

    Debt as it stands is meaningless and is no form of punishment or deterrent I'm not suggesting that it should be uped to silly levels but upping it to the point where it at least makes you think before charging into that purple spawn with only a sliver of health
  8. So if I'm understanding this correctly as soon as your account go's inactive your pact is broken?

    That being the case am i right in thinking that by the time i get the email saying my account has expired its to late and any pacts i have will be broken?

    If so that's pretty rubbish as i use the email to remind me that its time to pay my sub often there's only a matter of a few hours between my account running out and me renewing it going to be really annoying if in that small space of time my pacts get broken specially as thanks to the cant create pacts after level 5 rule i wont be able to recreate them.

  10. the cryptic logo will probably stay as even tho the game is now owned by NCsoft and developed by paragon studios it uses the cryptic engine. that's also probably why the cryptic logo appears on the new GR web site

    agreed its a fine balencing act in my veiw it should be balanced around fighting at dificulty 1 at that level you should get enuff debt to discourage dieing but not so much that its going to discourage you from fighting at that level. the amount of debt you get should also probably increase as your mission difficulty increases so if you've got the difficulty all the way up for maximum XP you should also have the chance of getting maximum debt.

    It also mite help discourage those PUG teams that think its a great idea to whack the dificulty all the way up and then die at every spawn.

    I could see loss of inf working and it makes a kind of in game world sense after all who gonna fear a Hero/Villain that keeps getting there bum handed to them.

    don't see the point of the deletion of a random piece of salvage or a recipe its not really a punishment and i can imagine all the shouts when some one just got a purple and then dies. Maybe with modification it could be used for PvP to represent you steeling stuff from your defeated enemy but they would need to implement some kind of receipt storage facility or any one with a good recipe wouldn't enter PvP (yes i know PvPs rather dead the now)

    I'm against the reduction of a random enhancement as there are just some ATs that die more than others making them more likely to die the next time round just seems unfair.

    Pretty simple really i think over the years debt has become broken.

    The amount of debt rewarded now bares no resemblance to what i think it should, what with patrol XP and the smoothing of the XP curve debt is now next to nonexistent. so i suggest the following fixes.

    <ul type="square">[*] equalise debt no more half debt for deaths in missions bring mission debt back up to the same as outdoor debt.

    Why is that funny? If true its a little dissapointing. I would have assumed it something simple to do anyway.

    Its funny because now they say its something they couldn't do while they were part of cryptic.

    What that means exactly is any ones guess. Personally i believe it means that they now have the man power to do all the animation work that would be needed to get power customisation in game but i could be wrong.

    I think you're holding the wrong end of the stick. While they do add to the existing plot, they don't add to each other. Instead they add to the original content, instead. While it's nice to see Riktified Hero 1 and also to craft a lost cure, might it be possible to cure Hero 1 after you defeat him? Oh... you don't want to make old content obsolete?

    Not sure what you mean why would individual story threads nessicerely add to each other? I also wonder are you paying attention there us allready a link between Ouroborus and the midnighters there's also a semi link between the midnighters and the new task force in the form of the 5th column so there are links there.

    As to the healing of hero1 he's not a member of the lost he's something else the wand only works on the lost of paragon earth and more work on it is required for it to affect the other rikti.
  17. the "-renderthread 1" should no longer be needed as CoH will now make use of multiple cores (tho i think it can only use a max of 2) also weirdly i used to use the -renderthread 1 command but found that the game actually ran better on my PC without it so adding it may not be a great idea if the game is running ok the now.

    as for the problem at hand first thing to do would be to upgrade your graphics drivers you should be able to find the latest ones here

    failing that try going into settings and playing about with the graphics settings you might need to switch them to advanced to get the full spectrum of options.

    I know you've tryed defiant and its fine there what about the german and french servers how are they.

  19. well they definitely don't just get stuck on the drones as mine get stuck on stuff even when i don't have them upgraded to the point that they get drones.

    teleport friend dos seem to be the best solution at the moment but its far from ideal (the assemble team power is also good but on occasion I've had 2 bots appear in the same space and get stuck together)

    As to the AI cant day I've had any problems there yes they some time run into melee but i see that as the price i have to pay for having all that fire power

  22. I do like the side kick idea but as others have said if it was implemented wrongly then it could result in teaming becoming even more scarce.

    Hows about making a it a combination of the SK system and the leveling packed system.

    You would create your sidekick at say lvl10 or so using a modified character creator. the side kick would level up as if they were a player character so when they reach level 2 they get a power when they reach level 3 they get slots ext ext.

    -even tho you create them at level 10 so there combat level is 9 they still start as a level 1 for the purposes of powers and slots

    -they would always be -1 level to you

    -XP would be shared between you and your side kick in the same way its shared in a leveling packed

    -If the side kick is defeated you get there debt[1]

    -if you are defeated your side kick will fight on for X amount of time before despawning (this would count as a defeat)


    [1] this could be changed to debt + a percentage based on your combat level so if your level 10 and your side kick gets defeated you would get say debt + 1% but if you were level 50 you would get debt + 100%
