I like the future and fantasy ideas etc. I don't want to see WWII items or any of that ilk. It was an actual event and it was a sad state of humanity. It was real evil and I'd prefer the funny book kind in my games.
Anyway, I think too many servers have minimal numbers and makes it tough to team. Any chance of closing down a few low number servers and adding the English Euro servers to our side?
I'm still kinda new but find it impossible to get help on the less populated servers. So, I was going to suggest a service in the game that allows us to get the help of a NPC (much like the ones we get tagging along when we rescue them in a mission). You have a bunch of different looks, ATs etc. Each DEV could make some new costumed types that you could come team with you. It could be the CoX version of Hero for Hire. That way if you can't get human help you have an option. Soloing can be tough on some missions and sometimes you just can't wait for helpAnyway, just an idea for a future issue.

I also found it funny how Jay refused to add pieces to the VEATS costume creator because he didn't want to have another costume creator. Hello!? Isn't that exactly what we have now??? A different editor for VEATS? Ridonkulous

Incarnate, we're going to have to agree to disagree. I just stated my opinion and so have you. Its input and I think opinions need to be posted so the DEVS can get a sense of what people think of they're work. This, I would think, is key. An unhappy majority = unemployment for the CoH team.
Anyway, I am hoping we have some more costume clad, super looking enemies. That's all. Aliens can be completely differernt than Rikti (all aliens are not Rikti). Let the creative juices flow and let's see something more than guys in robes and street toughs. They're fine and I like that content but we need to remember this is a super-hero game. Not D&D, Grand Theft Auto or some other genre. Incorporate those aspects but make it more super comic-ish. Where are the arch nemesis...where's the collection of super baddies with their own crew....Dr. Doom, Magneto etc. I don't want to see any other 'time pieces' for a while. -
The VEATS seem pretty fun. Decent powers etc and idea. My only complaint is no costume variety or real options. It kinda sucks. I look like the NPCs and all other VEATS. Running around Mercy was a gong show last night...we all looked the same! :P
Anyway, hopefully new pieces are added next issue. -
Obsidius, it sure could be worse but not by much. Why not fix the issue instead? I think most of the players were begging for the VEATS to be more customizeable. Unfortunately, we just received a collective kick in the junk!
Anyway, I hope i13 provides a FEW options for the VEATS. I really dislike looking just like an NPC and all other VEATS. Also, for anyone going with the SoA argument, give your head a shake. We should be unique! Besides, try running by some Arachnos soldiers and see if they give you the SoA secret handshake or blow your toon away....go on...try it -
Obsidius, are you suggesting two wrongs make a right?

Again, I think if you looks at some classic comics and their epic storylines you'll get a good idea of what works. This Roman thing is weak. It should be a new group of super enemies, different aliens, different planet etc. That's what we want to see. The Roman stuff is ok but enough of it already - for a supers game this isn't too super.
For example, most of your opponents don't even look that super or seem it. The CoT (weak), street thugs (your supers are being beaten by street toughs..ugh), carnies (a bit better but not much) and the list goes on. There are some great opponents along the way too but the ones noted don't make me feel like I'm a super in a comic.
The DEVS need to focus back to super hero/comic stuff. New group of costume clad opponents. Maybe a new group of 4 or 5 main evils and their henchmen who are also costume clad. Anyway, spend some time coming up with a good look and add them into the mix for spawn groups and adversaries.
Since you have some new revenue streams coming up (costume packs and in-game ads) you can get help developing some new super ideas. -
I dunno about you guys but I think the VEATS costumes fail in a big way. They look great and all but the generic look and everyone having that look was just silly. If you were on last night you saw nothing but VEATS running around Mercy. They all look alike! We're all generic looking...we all look like NPCs. It's really sad. It's a shame we can't combine some of those cool costume pieces of the VEATS with the regular stuff. Instead we have almost zero flexibility with the costume and it looks ridiculous. I can't wait to level to 10 so I can get some better threads.
The new regular costume patterns are decent. I am really looking forward to the next costume pack where I hope there are some significant upgrades to the costumes.
The Roman gear looks good but I can't see myself doing that TF more than once. It is just too lengthy. I think having to unlock that gear for each toon is a bad, bad idea but c'est la vie. I hope this never happens again because not all of us have those many hours to spend on each toon
Good job by the DEVS on i12 and these are my only concerns. Nothing too huge but it is troubling when a vast majority ask for things and are ignored (mixing VEAT uniforms and numerous costume suggestions). Anyway, I know it's not easy for the DEVS and I know they're doing a good job! -
I think you can add almost anything to CoH and this looks decent. However, I think the DEV team is straying away from the epic comic theme - the costume clad super-villain/hero. You need more actual super powered villains. Perhaps a new group outside of the Recluse and Rikti gang. A new, small opposition would be cool. Lately, the CoH experience has me feeling like it's a lot more fantasy than super-hero (if that makes sense).
I have to say the Savage Land and that type of thing was my least favourite content.
Anyway, I hope the future issues shift focus to making things a bit more comic/super. -
Not sure if this comment belongs here or not but what the heck
Anyway, I think unlocking costumes after a TF is a bad option. For many reasons including the novelty of the costume wears off. From what I understand you have to do several missions just to get into the new zone to start the TF? Then after the TF you get to unlock the costume set for that toon? Honestly, if I have to do all that for a costume I don't think it'll happen more than once for me especially when you can't solo it. Having to organize a team and complete it for each toon is too much.
I understand the costume pieces are an incentive but that's too time consuming to do over and over. I think each run should give you an option of items to pick and that may encourage me to go on more runs. For example, complete the TF and open up a new power set and to add to that set you have to run the TF for each power added to the set (some more incentive for toons including those at 50 cuz you would not get more powers by leveling but by doing the TF only - a new system for you to get new powers and something you can do after lvl 50). You could unlock access to an exclusive contact - that contact could be a number of things (special store, give you access to new stuff etc). A reward could be your pick of a few pets/minion etc.
Anyway, there are a ton of options that are more appealing than going through all that and just getting a new costume. What's the incentive to do this TF more than once with the same toon? Is there any? It seems like it becomes just another zone/XP/cash only zone. I thought this zone was going to be something 'new'. Maybe changes will happen in i13. Anyway, the new zone looks cool and a good idea but just not practical. Personally, I don't have the time to run all of my toons through that TF just to get that costume set - not worth it. -
It was a nice interview. I love how the game is getting rich in lore, history, tradition and mythos but I am getting bored of the play. Too many arcs/missions are in the exact same environment etc and it gets tiresome. Sometimes the missions are just dull. I was hoping they'd add some variety to the missions. Have some shorter arcs. Have some where the reward is a cool PERMANENT weapon or 'pet' (kinda like the patron powers). How about some trials where you can win a divine power?
How about expanding the weapons and costume pieces you can buy at WW or BM. Maybe even some travel items like jet packs, flying platforms you can use etc.
I think it's great to expand on the game's rich mythos etc but does that make the game play much better? I think it makes it better but not a ton better. Anyway, maybe i12 will have some wild, cool stuff that will really surprise! I think the Vill EATs will be great tho (probably my fave feature so far in i12). -
Hey Joe
Are there any plans to add any significant groups/forces to the game? We have the Rikti, Statesman and Recluse as well as the other lesser groups. Any others on the horizon? What's this arch-nemesis idea I hear about?
Also, just an idea, how about having the ability to go get an NPC to tag along with you when you're soloing and no one else is around. Maybe have a place that is a Super For Hire, pick an NPC and they can follow you along and help out. I don't think this will deter us from first seeking live players because NPCs are pretty 'clumsy'. Maybe it could be a Supers in training and they can follow you and try to help (they adjust to being a level or 2 lower than you). Anyway, just an idea I came up with after becoming fed up with trying to solo too many missions when no one was around. This also caused me to move to a more active server due to the lack of activity.
Thanks for listening! -
I think having some concrete dates is awesome. Nobody likes being kept in the dark when they're passionate about something. DEVS, thanks for getting some dates out for us.
I hope you'll be adding some costume packs soon. I'd buy them! Also, no date for issue 13? I seriously hope there is at least one more issue coming out this year. Three in a year would be decent but one is not acceptable! -
I like the i12 ideas except for the costume part. One of the biggest forum sections is the costume request section. We are throwing out thousands of ideas and it SEEMS like the Devs have all but ignored us. It's quite annoying. Do they listen to us? I mean who is this game for? The Devs or the customers?!?!?! Why don't they listen to their subscribers???? I know the issue isn't final yet so they can still add costume pieces. I PRAY they add a significant amount of costume pieces that are available to all toons. Why must all the good stuff be for high levels only? Quite a nuisance when you're new to the game.
-
I really hope the new costume pieces are a general item and not just unlockable items. Also, there better be more costume pieces en route or I will be TICKED!
That is my only beef. The rest looks very interesting. Good job, Devs! -
I REALLY hope these new costume pieces are new, regular items and not something you can unlock at a higher lvl mission. The one thing I have been BEGGING for is new costume pieces...priority #1. If the NC Soft people are only giving us Roman stuff then that will be LAME! Even WORSE if you have to unlock it and only that toon gets access to it. If those are the only costume pieces then I will be REALLY annoyed.
I still hope they do something like costume theme packs you can buy on top of the regular issues and features. If they made them $5 and came out every one or two months, that would be awesome. They could be themes or just a collection. I find the current costume pieces very limiting at times. -
Dear Devs, I'm pretty new to the game and love it. I was wondering if there might be an event or option where the villains can temporarily breach the barriers into Paragon and 'wreak havoc'. Sorta like a P v P thing but the heroes have to defend the city from other players.
Also, maybe the heroes could sneak into the villains realm to rescue one of the CoH icon-types (Ms. Liberty etc). This could be more of a mission thing like Father Time/Baby New Year. The villains invading Paragon could just be an open thing and not a mission-type deal...where everyone in that section of the city sees/interacts with an invading villain. The other angle one could take is if actual toons lost in battle and were abducted and actually held in the villain realm; a posse would have to be formed for a rescue mission.
I think it'd be cool to have the 2 realms (heroes and villains) interact in something a bit more meaningful than just fights.
