    No new zones

I pray they don't add many new zones. Many zones are dead as it is and most of the time we're in instanced missions. So, I hope for no new zones and lots of new mission maps and that sort of thing.

It seems Praetoria will get more zones. I hope it's only 2 more. Maybe 20-35 and 35-50 for the two new ones. I hope the focus is more on new maps, TFs and innovative things to do. I thought the 3 zones we currently have in Prae was overkill. Maybe it should have been 1 less with a completely original TF as well.

Personally, I'd like the game to be more friendly to the casual gamer, which is what I'm turning into. No subsciption cost, only fees for expansions like Going Rogue and the costume packs and such. I'd also like to see leveling get much faster, so that I can play only a few hours a week and see good character leveling progress.

Is anyone else drasitically reducing their playtime and feeling like I do?
Nope. I don't want to play free to play. Ever. i don't like the scrubs and unwashed masses that 'grace' us with their presence. No thanks.

I still play lots. I enjoy being on vent and teaming with people. That makes the game much better. I see that CO is going F2P. They are a sinking ship and had to take desperate measures to make profits. They didn't put much care into the game and it seems like a pure cash grab. They have turned me right off and their business practices are sickening.

This game isn't perfect but it's my fave MMO.

It seems you're twisting the OP's words to suit your posts. Maybe I am just misreading. All the OP said is a player could make a tiny bit of effort to promote the game. Tiny. I put out the idea of little ad bulletins at your comic shop and maybe theatres. That is all.

Are you kidding me? Yeah, no, that's right. No one has completed this. It yet has to be done. You couldn't do it cuz you gave up so we all did the same. Yup. Good post.

In my area alone (Alabama) I could plaster the place with posters and free trial deals and even stand outside Wal-Mart during peak Christmas time with a bullhorn warning folks of the Praetorian invasion.

I even go so far as to pull up Ftp.coh and play the Atlas theme and a few other choice selections whenever a guest is sitting in the lobby. My hope is one day someone will recognize it and we can strike up a conversation about it. As it stands, I think I'm the only COX subscriber in the entire Birmingham metro area... how sad is that?

Thing is, even if one of those people saw the poster they'd still be out of luck. Of the 3 Gamestops in my area not a single one has a copy of this game, not even GR. Best buy is the only place in town still carrying it and the manager there said if he sells the last 2 copies they won't be re-ordering...

I'm not saying the game is in trouble, far from it. I can see your fear about the Korean Won becoming more valued to the investors but with a sustanable base like we have, even a selling of the IP would come with a few more years of support.

I'd love to see an influx of 100,000 or more new blood, I just don't see it happening with whats looming on the horizen. Maybe if one of the big dogs was to fold, but even then I think we'd only pick up 10,000 or so.
Fact is, this is a niche title. Not all gamers like superheroes.
    1 or 2? Yikes. I strongly disagree.

Anyway, I think the devs should give us a colorful ad and place it on this thread. We print and post.
  6. I think the free-trial tear-off idea is cool. Have them on posters. I am sure a lot of players have a good rapport with their comic shop owners and may ok posting these. I am almost at 3 years on this game and only know of it because of my friend. I never saw it advertised anywhere but then I am not really into gaming. I tried this because I enjoy supers and used to be into comics.

It would be cool if to spread the word. I think putting this up at comic shops and theatres is a good idea It seems there are some people willing to do so.

Oh, I agree there have been some negatives here. Such is life. Some people just go through life oblivious but what can you do. Anyone thinking this game is fine and will keep going for a while may not have a realistic approach to gaming. Also, to put up a simple poster is not too much to ask anyone. I won't comment on some of the posts on here....I don't want to get banned
  7. I like the OP's enthusiasm. I have done this, to a degree, with some friends. I also gave my local comic shop an extra copy of the GvE edition to give away.

Maybe if some of the talented artists wanted to make posters describing the game with cool visuals and attach it here, others could go post them at their comic shop. Maybe even their theatre or games shop etc.

I also think the OP is off on players. Based on the server loads, I would think we would be closer to the 150K total and not the 80-ish K total. I have never seen the server loads so heavy in all of my 3 years. I realize there are some that say the server loads have been artificially increased by the Devs but I think I can give them the benefit of the doubt.
  8. You could try and do something insane like get help to beat him

I don't get why people complain about not being able to solo some key bosses. I'm glad it's like this. It is an MMO after all.

As you said, the game is 7 years old, it is what it is. You can't expect drastic changes to mechanics and gameplay at this point.
I must disagree with your reply. I think you can add great things to the game and make them a lot of fun. They can be different to a slight degree.

Using unique maps for missions would be great. I know this is difficult due to the amount of work required but I would rather have less stuff in an issue if that meant each issue was going to provide some unique stuff.

I also think the TFs/SFs could be so much better. The best one is, IMO, the ITF. Follow that formula for future TFs. Again, more work but so much more enjoyable. I run the ITF more than all the other TFs...it's not even close.

It is very easy to add new superhero-like characters. Stop making the new characters just alternates of what we have. Be original. Feature them. When I collected comics, one of the coolest things was to see that wild new looking enemy super(s).
  10. It is a neat system but, yet again, it is primarily another system. The Ramiel arc to unlock it boring and weak - you can fly through it and it isn't interesting at all. Just old enemies and maps (for the most part) slapped together with a not-so spectacular story.

I do like the actual powers and system. It is a decent idea and prompts us to play level 50 stuff. Unfortunately, it is the same level 50 stuff we've had for a while now. IMO these new arcs and stories are weak - the same old maps with some new tale to tell. Nothing compelling or interesting to me when you consider this is a video game/MMO.

The two new TFs are much of the same old, same old...again. Same old maps, same old enemy groups (for the most part) and a button-mash fest (for the most part).

I think the system could benefit from some original materials and content. The game is almost 7 years old and we keep seeing the same major players that we've seen for years. It is tired.

    Just my 2 cents
  11. It is a nice little system but I was hoping there would be some more original content. Maybe future issues will give us some epic new TFs or something like that to really test our powered up 50s.
  12. Good comedy by the OP!

Anyway, I hope we get some epic TFs/SFs along the road here with incarnates. Hopefully the final slot unlocks some wild, original end game mission. Hopefully something unique to this game!
  13. The OP is kinda pointless to comment about. If I said what I thought of it, I might get banned.

I am glad there is a unique arc to unlock the incarnate slot. I wish it was something a bit more epic and even a TF but ah well.

It would be cool if they added some other end game wrinkles like a different raid type etc. So far i19 is ok
  14. Unreal. This OP is special
  15. I have some of these. The half price option is nice but some of these aren't even worth half price and are more like cash grabs. The Party Pack is the biggest rip-off and makes me think Cryptic thoughts. The Science pack has awful costume pieces - very lacking and what you get is weak and not too superhero/scientific. I thought the Mac pack and the GvE packs were solid. Most packs have something worth getting but I can't say they are of acceptable quality. To me, some of these look like attempts to get some quick cash to deal with budget issues.
  16. Ok so if you are in Canada, which is the best method of getting GR CE? Anyone?
  17. IIRC, last year there was a huge delay in anything from the devs. I am guessing the free transfers were put in place to help ease player frustrations over the lack of issues...actually I think there was a lack of anything from the devs. They were silent for a long time. I think then early this year, they reported the big shake up at Paragon.

This year things seem to be running a lot smoother. More regular news updates from the CoX crew and i19 should be out Tuesday. So, since there hasn't been a huge lull in updates, news, content etc I would be surprised to see free transfers. It'd be nice but I don't see it happening.

Thanks so very very much! I found the artists used that episode and went through them at work. I can't access forums but I am still glad to see you helping me out!!!
  19. It is titled CHUCK VERSUS PHASE THREE and I thought it was quite good! I would ALSO like to know the song playing when Sarah tells Chuck that she wants to marry him as he lays there passed out in the experiment type chair in Thailand! The lyrics go: "wake wake up get outta your head you gotta a lot you gotta lot to live for". I'm searching everywhere for it.

    One Shot TFs

Yep, my intent was just a change of pace and something fresh and new. When I used to collect comics, I was always 'wowed' by the new, wild/cool looking enemy/ally or whatever. CoH has over 6.5 years and we kinda see the same old far too often. It'd be nice to run into something brand new on your journey up to 50. Something you will not experience anywhere else. Instead of new zones, make completely original TFs/SFs (yes, including mission map and enemy groups). Constantly adding the same stuff with a slight change is getting painful
  21. 1) More comic book like mission maps. Caves, warehouse, office - some of this is ok but 6+ years worth?! One of my main complaints with this game. Not only are the mission maps repetitive but they are very dull.

    2) More time and attention on original TFs (Freedom Phalanx especially). Many of these are absolutely no fun and the story is not very epic. Actually, on some of these, the stories really lack cohesion. Also repetitive in nature which also kills us. The Shard TFs are also quite....meh.

    3) More superhero factions. I don't mind most of the groups in game but add to them. Add superhero types that look really cool. Not a lot of wow factor with many of the factions and groups.

Think about it -- maybe instead of being offered "Bonefire" for the umpteenth time, your Kings Row contact would actually offer up YOUR arc! Wouldn't THAT be the coolest prize EVAR???
Funny you post this. I started a similar idea in the Suggestions thread. Didn't get such a warm reception Check it out!
  23. I don't think I made my intent overly clear here. The devs have contests every now and then for AE arcs etc. Why not make the prize having your story part of regular content. That is my intent.

I am not a dev or associated with Paragon Studios but I am pretty sure they would not make a farm a contest winner. I also don't think they would reward any arc this prize if it was filled with Marvel and DC characters. I thought these points were obvious but I guess not

Anyway, I feel this would be a way to encourage legit mission making and would also draw more people into making decent missions.

Personally, I like the AE stuff but there is too much 'junk' in it to play it often. I also notice a lot of people just say no to AE even if it is an actual mission. It's a great tool but is, somewhat, wasting away.
  24. Well, AE is a great tool and I was a big fan. Unfortunately there is too much farming and a lot of low quality missions. So, when the devs have their AE contests, make the prize turning the AE mish into regular content.

All short AE missions could become paper or radio missions. Any medium and long AE missions could become mini-TFs and be placed with special contacts. Any co-op TF/SF could be in Vangaurd location and have a new contact for that mission. If the theme calls for something else, add a contact in Pocket D and one in Cimerora (place missions accordingly based on theme). Add a contact red and blue side.

Have these all give out the regular rewards etc. I think this would be a good way to make very good use of AE. It seems the devs do AE contests every now and then so it isn't like we're adding more work for them Maybe the top 20 short missions entered get placed into radios/papers. The top 10 medium and long missions are made into TFs/SFs. Anyway, just an idea to add some variety and content to game
  25. Very insightful commentary by the Post:

Post: Aside from the two officially announced auras (Snow and Fireflies), and the Imperial Defense Force costume set, are there going to be any other new graphics/costume pieces/etc. introduced in the upcoming free expansion? The quantity of costume options introduced with Going Rogue (the most recent paid expansion) is lackluster compared to the near-doubling of options that the first paid expansion, City of Villains, introduced.

Bianco: City of Villains introduced some pretty cool costumes sets, but Going Rogue introduced some costume features that CoV never did such as tintable costume pieces, Ultra-Mode enhanced sets (REAL shiny mirrored armor), enhanced details, combat auras, and customizable weapons (which aren’t really costumes, but they can match). We also gave the players access to the Resistance Costume and Loyalist Costume sets and the Alpha and Omega costumes.

I have to agree and hope we can see some really cool adds and soon. The recent Booster packs have not offered anything great and GR had some cool pieces but not many that are superhero-like. I hope i20 has some cool stuff.
