  1. I just really hope the devs have finally realized that adding the same content over and over causes many to burn out. A 7 year old game should have more variety than this one. I was hoping we would see quicker result but oh well. I guess it might be time to break until i20.
  2. The last 2 boosters have been very poor. They charge a lot for not much. I really hope this one is worth it. I have been passing on the last bunch because of the lack of costume pieces and poor quality.

Hoping they add the minotaur head, some hand pieces, feet, lower and upper torso. I REALLY hope you can customize the heads a bit as well by adding things (glasses, masks etc).
  3. Some very nice rewards for the 7th year. Much thanks to the powers that be for this one.

Also, finish what you started in i19 and add ALL the Praetorian enemies, NPCs, and contacts, as well as the Super Stunners and Chi Masters, Kronos Titan AV, and any NPC, enemy, or contact that is currently in game but not available in AE. Also, take a look back at some of the completely reasonable things players have been asking for since i14 (lieutanants and minions as "fight a boss" details, the ability to have a specific critter in an ambush or hostage guarding group, etc) and add them before adding your shiny new toys with limited usefulness. Also, better spawn and blinky placement control.

3: Update the base editor. I want floors and walls that aren't built out of desks. Add bottoms to everything that doesn't have one. Double doorways and the ability to place stuff in doorways would be nice too.

    4: APP/PPP customization already.

5: Revamp of all the Freedom Phalanx task forces. The only reason people run them is because they're needed for an accolade. I don't know many people who actually LIKE them.

    6: A level 30-35 SF for villains.

7: Sharks with freaking lasers on their heads.

That's all I can think of right now.
Some good ones here! I have to really emphasize your #5. Those TFs are terrible. The Posi is decent. Even many of the SFs are quite lame as well.

They really have to do something with the AE. I love that system and tool but the way it has been implemented in game is terrible. I think they should continue their contests with AE. One type of contest they should do is where the reward is making the winning AE missions into radio and paper missions. Maybe even tip missions. Do this contest twice a year and have the top 10 winners placed as either papers, radios, tips; also you could make it a condition that the author cannot have anything resembling a 'farm' on their list of missions and if they do, then their entry will be DQed.
  5. Some great points. For me it's the usual:

ITF quality TFs/SFs. The story makes some sense. It flows decently with the missions. It isn't unnecessarily complicated. The big points: fairly unique maps for the missions and an enemy group not found in most areas of the game. It is a fairly unique adventure and they did a good job putting it together. Future TFs should be like that (no need for an entire zone, just the TF itself). Have these range different levels. Put them in a co-op zone. Have a couple new 15+ TFs in RWZ. Put one in Cim maybe. Maybe even a fun one in the D so ALL factions can jump in (Praetoria is definitely loosing it's shine and is starting to feel like a grind).

The old blue side TFs are pretty horrid (the new Posi is a nice change). I would rather see this instead of new arcs. I know the TFs are more work but look at the mileage they still get out of the ITF. That was added in i12. We have tons of arcs so adding those at a much reduced rate doesn't bother me.

I would also enjoy a revamped costume creator. It's still great but can be improved in so many ways. Also, if you're selling boosters...please...make them decent with more costume pieces. Several are really lacking and the last two were little more than a cash grab (I know some like them but not worth the $). That kind of value is somewhat...Cryptic

Lastly, some NEW innovations in our game play. Add some missions or whatever that are completely unique from what we have. There are several new twists you can put in there. The Praetoria stuff is cool but not much of a departure from what we have in the rest of the game. The talk to NPCs/decisions would be much better if our choices mattered when speaking with many of them (Prae and other missions as well). If our choices branched us in a different road then cool. As it stands now, the results are often the same.

Yup but they are far from Marvel's most popular or featured enemy group. The big players are often one or a small team of supers. They are often wearing some super cool costume and have the "looks cool" appeal. We don't have too much of that here.

That's my beef with the game. It is redundant. Why do we need something similar to what we have. Why not go off in a completely new/original tangent?

Just like Praet zones - add as few as possible (I know we are supposedly going to get zones that go to level 50 and I just hope it's maybe 2 more zones). The new zones look great but do we really need another 2+ that are MORE city?? The 3 Prae zones are plenty enough but I will brace myself for more lol.

We have Boomtown, Perez, Creys, Shadowshard, Dark Astoria (and you could argue a couple more) that have not been touched in years and are ghost-towns on most nights (most populated EU-server: Union).

One could argue a possible cull, and / or reinvestment and reinvigoration of the content in those zones. The day we stop pushing for exciting enviroments being used to their fullest extent is the start of the apathetic slippery slope imho.
I said nothing of pushing for exciting environments. I am pushing right there with you guys. I just want these in the form of a TF or SF. We have many zones (and I agree...many are not used to their full extent) but when we play, we get into the instances. It'd be nice to hit these places and see things we don't normally see. Have these exciting new places in these TFs etc.

  10. I actually thought a lot of this game also doesn't have a very super hero/comic feel to it. A large number of your enemies are more military than supers (5th, Arachnos, Clockwork, Cimerorans etc). Nothing wrong with them but the features should be supers. Where's the super cool looking, super foe like Galactus, Dr. Doom etc. The look and feel of many of the signature characters is underwhelming. It might help if they had Noble Savage draw some wild pics and put the main characters in a who's who on this site. All of the named characters etc.

I also think the name issue is a problem here. Many lame names. Need to do a purge of unused names.

Also, to the OP, if you don't run into many players then maybe join a teaming channel. Lists are in the server forums. I find this game has a lot of players and don't have too many problems finding teams. Having said that, Praetoria is getting to be a bit of a ghost town but meh...one day the devs will learn

Besides, In the thirty years of PnP lore in the other game, Atlantis has already been a zone for decades. As the other studio's enviromental artists search through the PnP books for zonal inspiration, in-time it too will be attempted online to sit alongside the other underwater zone.

I like the calls for a Norse-inspired Asgardian type of zone, as i do the calls for space and extra-planetary zones.
Ancient Egypt also has merit I feel should pre-history be attempted.
Please no more zones! Make original mission maps/areas in TFs and SFs. We have too many zones.

I would also LOVE to have some 'one-shot' TFs which involve different enemies etc. that we do not have anywhere else in game. We seems to have the same old groups we have seen/heard about for years.
  12. I have been in the D and taking some runs with those missions. Sadly, Praetoria has become a grind for me. I have stopped making toons there.

I think the devs made a mistake by separating the players...again. It seems they have this idea that we enjoy not being able to take our toons all over the place lol. Seriously, now we are stuck in Praetoria until level 20. Not much fun. Same old, same old. One day they may add something new and fun but I am not holding my breath. Maybe even a TF or something.

Honestly, I think 3 zones was a mistake for GR. I hope 20-50 is 2 zoned tops. Use the resources to add things to do instead of giving us vast territory to run around in.
  13. I don't get why people expect to solo in an MMO. Makes no sense. Having said that, some solo content is cool. I think we have lots. I don't think epic/end-game content should be completely soloable. You want to unlock great new powers but want to be able to do it on your own? Nah. Pass. Good riddance to the people that like to solo and whine when they can't do it all the time. Chances are good we were never teaming anyway so you won't be missed (by me, anyway ).

Make the end game stuff mostly teaming with a touch of solo play. Might be the best compromise in an MMO.

Maybe I have a crazy definition of the term 'reinvent', but for me, if they did the following, then I'd say 'Yeah, that's reinvention'

Improved the City of Villains, and especially the City of Heroes tutorials.

There might be a nice tutorial in Praetoria, but that's not 'reinventing the tutorial', that's just saying 'hey, here's a new tutorial, do this instead!' and leaving the old two to rot.

Improved the City of Villains, and especially the City of Heroes Issue 0-8 content.

We could start by trimming the fat on the pointless hunt x of y missions, the annoying 'go see contact B/D/PVP zone before I give you missions' missions, the tired defeat alls there for the sake of grind, and so forth. Some new mission tech was added to the CoH missions a long, long time ago. Why not see about getting around to that again?

I find it extremely jarring to go from new to old content and back again. Players go from shiny Praetoria into the level 20-30's, which does have some new content added, but then there's the 30 to 40's, and the hero 40 to 50's.

Adding is not reinventing! Reinventing is taking old content and upgrading and adding new features to it, for me.
Well said and pretty much what I was thinking while reading most of the article. How the hell is it reinvented??? They take the same old mission and slap on new text. Get real. GR may have added a slight twist but I would not do so far as to say reinvent the game.

Not a very accurate or overly informative article IMO.

Kinda this. I would like to see us get a version of that game's Nemesis System. It is a good idea. The other item I would take is power armour
  16. Glad to hear about this Letter in the process but will it be any different? Even in this first address we are getting vague hints etc. What's the point of that? Honestly, I just find them annoying. If you guys are so secretive that you can't even tell us the theme of the next booster then I don't know if there is much point to this letter.

It might help if the letter told us a direction or something concrete in regards to direction. Another big help might be if they put up a poll to vote on certain ideas that may be added to game. At least then you would get a better idea of what players are looking for.

I think someone noted earlier there seems to be a huge disconnect from the players by the devs (maybe not huge but a disconnect). I tend to agree. For a few years now we have been told something BIG is coming (AE was one feature and Going Rogue was another). AE is a great feature but when you look at the time and effort spent on it...maybe not so great. GR is nice and all but I would have taken an expansion pack that was 5 TFs (at the ITF caliber with new innovations) over 2 new zones. I liked a lot of aspects of GR and it is a definite improvement but just a slightly new twist on what we've been doing for several years now.

Anyway, it is nice to hear we are supposedly getting some updates/info but I doubt we'll get and real news via this address. More of the same old cryptic clues but now in handy new letter format.
  17. I don't think you should touch anyone's level 50 toon for a while....or other higher level toons. Having said that, this game is almost 7. So, I say if someone has been gone 5 years or more then all toons under level 40 should have their names released. If anyone is gone over 2 years then all of their toons, under level 20, have their names released. Other than that, the policy seems ok.

I hope the devs recognize the name list is finite and we need some help here. Also, there are not a ton of names out there. I want to have somewhat iconic names and that is tough these days. Anyone suggesting names are not an issue is welcome to their opinion. I completely disagree with them.

We were promised BIG things before and they came in the form of the mission architect. An awesome feature but a flop if you look at it as a key feature (I think you have to given the resources, time and effort put into it. Not to mention they released a box for it too).

I have a bad feeling the new stuff will not be too different from the old stuff.
  19. I thought it'd be nice to give us a list of ideas they might have cooking and get our feedback (maybe like that survey they did a couple years ago).

Anyway, it would be nice to have a state of game update. It seems many other games provide this.

I think the communication/information is poor in this game. It would be nice to know some highlights about the next year etc. I know this scares them to death but just qualify any news by noting it is subject to change. Then any whiners can just read that

I see some great games on the horizon and this game might be put on the back burner again for me. The devs just tend to follow a similar formula and don't stray too much from it. Sometimes when I play it feels like the same old game. Sure, lots of QoL improvements but how has the game play changed. I know they have made some new types of innovations but they aren't that significant (giving you 'options' in many new missions where the end result isn't really effected by your decision - just one example).

The game is fun but I am playing a lot less these days. Might be time to take a break again.
  21. I do like this event but another month of it might be a bit too much. Nice gesture by the devs and all but another week or two would have been sufficient.

I think the best part of a short duration is causing players to come out and play in a small time frame/window of opportunity. More the merrier!

Yeah there isn't a lot of variety to enemy groups. We have fought, pretty much, the same factions for years. In Going Rogue we experienced some 'new' stuff but a lot of that was alluded to in the canon. So, not a ton of variety as far as enemies. It has been a complaint of mine for the last bit since I've been playing but that's just me IMO this game feels a bit too D&D for me and not as comic book-like. It isn't difficult to add new NPCs or factions but it doesn't seem to happen often. It's not often where we get to see that new, cool looking super added to game. Everyone is connected to a faction or is an alternate version of another character (or many of them) Causes a disconnect, to a degree, for me with the canon of this game
