I like the new raids and I am sure we will have more. They aren't awesome but they sure beat getting a new TF/SF that is just a bunch of old maps slapped together with a lame/poor story. I have played the raids a bunch of times of the weekend and don't mind them.
I played the new TF and SF once each and that was more than enough. The TF is ok and the SF was lame. The SF is just a bunch of old maps slapped together...the same old tech map is now Posi's new hang out...ugh.
The game is visual and the same old maps really put a damper on playing this game. The new raids don't have a lot of new scenery but they are different and kinda fun.
I really hope the future slots have nothing to do with Praetoria and we get more diversity in becoming an incarnate. I feel having our incarnate abilities tied so close to Praetoria is limiting and kills our own character's 'story' in a way.... -
Quote:This.Easy. Dump ALL the new currencies and salvage garbage brought in for the Incarnate system, and convert everything over to "Incarnate XP" that you earn to gradually unlock your next slot (you get to nominate which slot you want to earn it for).
Simplify the entire stupidly over complicated system that's taken a pick up and play MMO, and turned it into a number crunching borefest that's almost as interesting to play as EVE.
Also:
1) Costume pieces.
2) Future enemies are something new and fresh. Enough of Praetoria...we are getting flooded with this stuff and I, for one, am beginning to resent it.
3) A co-op, epic TF like the ITF. Innovate it so there is a pick your path etc. option so there are choices that matter to be made along the way. That way there is a slightly different wrinkle for the first several times. Make it different than what we have. I was not too impressed with the Sutter TF. -
Yeah the variety of salvage is beyond annoying and i20 dumped a pile more on us. Good times....or NOT! It is beyond silly. I have no idea why Positron would do this. It is awful. A complete nuisance. I guess they want us to stay on longer? Who knows.
I have to say, initial reviews of i20 are poor. The salvage is just another kick to the junk. -
Quote:I haven't had any problems with any of the i19 stuff lately. I tried one of the trials for i20 and failed - oh well. This is how it goes. I don't think anything is too tough on this game if you think it over and try it a few times (having a properly slotted team helps too).Personally, I think we should boycott all TFs until the devs dial down the lethality of these new incarnate TFs. Constantly faceplanting - sometimes without even getting a chance to hit something - and failing TFs is not fun for a lot of people.
If the devs are trying to entice 'WOW babies' by ramping up the difficulty for them, then they will chase away more players then they get. They need to stop the madness.
Hey Golden Girl! Nice work on the cover and comic! -
Wow. I hope everyone loves Praetoria because you get SWAMPED with 'em in here! The same enemy over and over with a Praetoria is invading theme....I knew it was coming but to experience it....wow. Too much.
Also...seriously? No new costume pieces? -
Quote:It would have been nice if we could customize the look of our pet. I don't think I am too into any CoH pet.Keep in mind that we're going to be expanding/diversifying the Lore slot, as confirmed by Mr. Black Scorpion in the UStream dev chat.
It definitely doesn't hurt to at least get started on unlocking it and working your way up.

Quote:Maybe if you tried opening up a book (or even a web search) and read just exactly what Nazis actually did....you may get a clueNot really. I personally think it's hilarious how worked up people get up about it. Honestly; who the hell cares? Nazi's or facist extremists or whatever. I presented my examples of why I think they've moved further from the views of the old Reich, I'm sure not going to tell anyone else their views are wrong (unless they are patentedly stupid of course)
The dev's could let their imagination run wild but, instead, use these clowns that look like Nazis. I really don't care what the actual canon says...they resemble nazis far too closely. All I can say is let that whole faction fade away and stop adding stuff relating to the 5th et al. Enough already. -
It is a little disheartening to see this game not provide toon costumes unless you buy them. We pay a sub. fee and have micro transactions; not the best deal, for sure. However, I am ok with it for now. So, should we not get something in an issue every now and then? We were teased with the IDF costume set way back before i19 and still nothing...not cool
I think we caught a glimpse of that in October? November?
-
Quote:No denying it. I agree. But, I think they play a lesser role and make for good cannon fodder. Unfortunately in CoX, they are very present and not bit players. I just really would rather see us take on a super team than militia. The Nazis aren't the only group...we have numerous military types and they are very prominent in game. It is too bad but what can you doWell, consider the source material. Comics have been doing Nazis for ages.
-
Quote:Actually, to me, it is a huge letdown. This is a supers MMO and rarely feels like it. I really thought the Barracuda SF kinda stunk. Nazis have too strong a presence in this game.I'm pretty sure I18 got way more hype
Punching Nazis is never a letdown - as I19 and I20 clearly show
I really think the only issue that was above and beyond expectations was i12. I don't expect much from i20 - after a few years I have learned that if you keep expectations low then you don't get disappointed
I think the devs have also lost touch (a bit) with the players. They seem to add stuff that would fit better in a military/militia type MMO than here. There is also a very strong magic/mystical component to the game that makes it feel like something out of D&D. I don't mind this stuff too much but a lot of this content, to me, is not epic nor supers feeling. -
Oh good lord please not the Halloween stuff again
I think for the first time since I've played this game...I am not looking forward to the next issue. The Lore slot is still kinda sketchy and the saturation of Praetoria junk continues. I'm getting pretty sick of the repetition. I see we have to look forward to the other heavily repeated factions as well...ugh... -

1) COMPLETELY re-work all older TFs and SFs (other than Posi). The older hero TFs are just horrid. They do a huge dis-service to this game. They need a revamp. This also holds true of the Shadow Shard TFs. These are a horrid grind and a slap in the face of your loyal customers.
2) Reduce the repetition in mission maps. Make fewer TFs of higher quality. Again, the ITF is popular for many reasons but some of these reasons include unique maps, some unique enemies and a somewhat ok storyline.
3) Do something innovative. We get TFs/SFs, mission arcs and zone invasions - not much else. After 7 years it is time to add some new wrinkles. They took a tiny, tiny step with Going Rogue...time to take that one large step for superherokind! The constant repetition in play style is getting to us vets and will burn people out
(and 4...hehe...allow us to customize other aspects of our toons...the Lore slot would have been a good start but I can't help but feel the ball was dropped here). -
Yeah I started a post like this as well and I kinda agree with the OP here.
We're at 7 years and we seem to have a lack of creativity and originality in what we see. Less with the military/militia/nazis and more with supers!!! -
Did Paragon already stop doing the monthly state of game newsletter to the community? Not that there was much substance in it but did it only go Jan and Feb? Maybe I missed the post...?

Quote:I really kinda think we need something fresh and new. Recluse has a huge presence in game. I think some new enemies would be good. Having them in one shots would get their story told and be something new all at the same time. Come back to them later if need be but we won't be waiting years for it to unfold.Lord Recluse has been quiet, too quiet, about time he came up with a new way to conquer paragon with his LT's in tow.

Quote:Yeah I was survivability and some damage. So, the slightly reduced damage for those attacks is ok with me. For this build to work, I will need the Alpha cardio route. I can't run all toggles and fight for long at this point. So, I am OK with this versionI've been playing around with it and I'm not sure if I can find a way to maintain soft capped melee defense while adding more slots to Impale and TS.
It will work and be very durable.

1) Add costume pieces on a regular basis. Make them the types you actually see in comics.
2) Fix the old TFs especially the old Phalanx stuff. Those are just awful.
3) Future content should have all new, superhero type foes. Not Nazis or militia etc. Give me something epic....Galactus, Dr. Doom, Magneto, Darqueside etc. Intro these groups in TFs only. That way the experience is unique from the rest of the game.
4) Maybe 3b here but make future content a bit more exciting. Seriously. We were just shown a new TF where the main focus is a bunch of ships etc? If you're making new maps why not try something like space ships, space stations, underwater zone, exotic alien world etc. Go big or go home
5) Future content should be innovative. Any future TFs could include branching off along the way - so a decision you make alters the course of the TF. Have a few branches so it is a bit different for the first several times. This could be one possible innovation. Right now we get a lot of the same formula. After 7 years make things unique.
6) Give Praetoria a mini-tf or something like that so it isn't as dull/grindy. It would be nice if it involved something other than the current factions in the game. Seriously, how tough is it to re-skin characters and make up some wild, fun new faction for us to look at.
7) Add to toon customization. I thought the Lore slot would have been amazing if we could design the look of our pet. That would have kicked this game up a notch! BAM! But no... Anyway, maybe let us have some more unique rewards. Maybe something like a weapons dealer where we can pick up a variety or weapons that we keep and can slot (maybe make them 3 slots so this doesn't over power or mess with balance).
8) No new zones. Do something with the old ones or use the resources to make completely unique TFs etc. Just say no to more zones.
It'd be nice to see some of this if not all. -
Quote:Gee, the company made this comment. They must be telling the truth! Yeah. Ok. Anyway, I went and tried it out when it went F2P - what a joke. Sadly, I initially bought that game; when I logged in these idiots TOOK some of the costume pieces away that you got at first and, now, make you pay for them. Cryptic are complete and utter morons. I also how they now hid the number of players on each shard - probably a good idea considering how few people actually play that pile of crap. You can start listing the MMO sequels that outdid the original anytime you like.
With it's revenue now up over 1,000% since it went F2P? Source
Anyway, I kinda like the OP's point about mid-level reward issues. I do slot some IOs on my way to 50 but they can get expensive and most of them are up there at the 50 range. I just wish they did away with levels on their IOs and adjust automatically as your exemped etc. I bet all of the content would be played way more and you would want to play your 50 even more
I just wish this game would add some more epic stuff. Also some more comic book super stuff - not a bunch of militia and Nazis (they seem to be a very large percentage of our opposition and that kinda...well...it sucks). -
Quote:Would you mind tinkering with it? I also am not a fan of the way I slotted Impale and Throw Spines but I wanted to softcap D and make the build very survivable. While I like the build I don't like the under slotting for Impale and Throw Spines. I also don't like fire ball builds but that is another horse entirely
. I'm sure the slotting you have in those two powers are fine, I'd probably try to get more endurance recovery.
I made an adjustment to Dark Regen where it is now 2 Numina's and 2 Miracles.
Currently I am at level 47 and have it pretty much slotted like this. So, if you can adjust Impale and Throw, let me know. I would love to dump on some more damage especially to Throw. -
This is the build I've been looking to put together.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Going for survivability, defence and AoE attacks. Also, kinda on the cheap is nice -
Quote:Yeah I have to agree. I hope once we get all of our slots in, the devs add to the end game by giving us alternate ways of getting slots. Praetoria/Incarnates is the suck. Maybe a new power source instead of the Well? Slots from somewhere else?I've not read every post cuz many of them seem to have gone off topic but I like how the OP is thinking
Gilgamesh is the first named human - and has a place in legend as a person who is not simply legendary but also historical - and there are very few others who can claim that right.
I dislike the incarnate story very much but at least involving a demi-god like that you can bring it back into a sphere I like -
So, I don't have much experience with these 2 powers. Are they good together? I had some SG members say Regen stinks and only works in PvP. Is that correct? Any thoughts/discussion would be a help. I am wondering if I should continue with this toon.
Also, if anyone has a build for this powerset, could you post it please -
Not bad at all. I may put in super speed and hasten and maybe take out a 7.5 but I like it. Thanks much for giving it a shot. My toon is only at about level 13 so if you come up with changes, feel free to post. I could use any additional info!

So, instead of some fantastic space station, a spectacular alien city (not Rikti) or something else completely different....we get....a bunch of ships slapped together. Ugh.
