Too close to be newsworthy anymore. The 'new findings' 'refuting' the Mayan date story that came out a few weeks ago will be the last you hear of it until a week before, when stories will start being run about how funny it was people bought into it/what people are planning to do to celebrate the anticipated non-event.

If anyone seriously gets upset that we're toast in a few billion years they have some serious anxiety issues.
After all, should the earth remain unaffected by the merger a scant billion years later the sun will become a red giant and eat the earth anyways.
And all of that is assuming our current understanding of the rate of increase of the sun's luminosity is wrong. If we're right then in about a mere billion years all the surface water on earth will be boiled off bringing the glorious reign of terrestial life to an end.
When you get right down to it, Kansas was far to optimistic with 'Dust In the Wind' (Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky? Wrong on both counts.) -
This was always a concept that would be absolutely amazing in a trailer or two, but completely fall through in a full length movie. I was surprised when it finally got enough funding to be made.
Those trailers were glorious, though. While I had no desire to see the film as a result of them, I happily showed them to all my friends.
Since most trailers show enough of the movie to have your mind fill in the blanks (*cough*Prometheus*cough*) it's not surprising that 'fake trailers' have been growing in popularity. If you can cobble together 3 minutes of awesomeness you'll get a lot of views - and I'm sure there are worse things to put on your resume than that as an editor. -
Quote:I use Chrome. I just went to http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page and didn't see anything.Interesting. Yeah, I do use Chrome, prefer it for how light it is compared to other browsers.
Thinking that's the problem?
Edit: Just went to http://www.cohtitan.com/ and also didn't see anything. -
I like Tankers because I often spend more than a year leveling a character to 50 - long enough to get serious mileage out of their enhanced defensive stats.
Once you hit 50, though, and IO things out there's not a huge benefit to playing a Tanker over a Brute who took Taunt. People talk about building momentum for Fury, etc, but if you're tanking you don't need to worry about that. One, because that's not what you're focusing on and two because it will happen regardless: Most fury comes from being attacked, not being the attacker.
On any team with any kind of support at all a Brute can indeed become a Tanker that does twice as much damage on average.
That said the differences are seriously not important in the modern game. They're both outclassed in the end. "Tank" is the least needed role in City of X - we're all tankmages here, every one of us, and the more the devs change to 'challenge' a team in the endgame (autohit, unresistable damage, flooring regen, etc) the more worthless the ATs who rely solely on those things to contribute become. -
Ah, the sweet tones of Franzl Lang. Not even a badly edited Yoda head can take away from the majesty that is Einen Jodler Hor I Gern.

Gloom has twice the DPA of SL. I'm sure it's got to be worth working in somewhere.
That said I've tried:
MG-smite-gloom-siphon life
MG-smite-siphon life -smite
MG-smite-gloom-smite
As far as my limited math skills can tell the third chain should do the most. In practice for me it hasn't, which is why I use chain 1, so I'm looking for confirmation that in a vacuum it should. -
My search fu failed on this topic - getting mired down with results about purple sets, etc.
I'm running a seemless chain of mg-smite-gloom-siphon on a dm/ea and it's nice, especially with soul drain saturated, but not spectacular - I'm wondering if there's anything better.
It's on a dm/ea alt - the chain is seemless without a single luck of the gambler thanks to other set bonuses combined with the recharge bonuses of ea and a t3 spiritual (45% recharge), so I still have room to 'grow' recharge wise if there's a better chain out there. -
I am playing a brute.
18 actually, not including the ones I've shipped off to the retirement home - I mean Exalted. Or taken behind the wood shed.
I don't care that they do less damage than scrappers and are less tough than tankers. I love chasing fury, and can barely stand to play ATs that don't. -

I agree. To me it's always been 'readable' with occasional moments of 'good' - such as the comic that's being discussed here. The moments are almost always in his non-story arc comics. To me they've always been by far his greater strength as a writer.
He seems like a smart guy who knows his subject matter and is a decent cartoonist but like many webcomics I feel that his story lines often get away from him. I don't know if that's because, like me, his stories are bigger than his ability to tell them, whether it's because he has too many projects on the go, or if it's because of the need to appease his steady fanbase who expect them. -
Code:All numbers taken from http://tomax.cohtitan.com/data/power...Staff_Fighting
Dam Act DPA Mercurial Blow 37.37 1 37.37 Precise Strike 58.72 1.13 51.96 Guarded Spin 51.55 1.83 28.17 Eye of the Storm 54.72 2.57 21.29 Serpents Reach 80.08 1.77 45.24 Innoc Strikes 73.85 2.17 34.03 Sky Splitter 122.78 2.83 43.39 avg DPA 37.35 (sum of all dpa/7 attack powers)
All numbers un-enhanced
Go forth, people with a higher than grade 9 level of math understanding (obviously I'm not said spreadsheet guy).
For comparison
Frozen Fists 37.37 1.33 28.1
Ice Sword 58.72 1.33 44.15
Frost 72.06 2.27 31.74
Freezing Touch 74.76 1 74.76
Greater Ice Sword 87.2 2.33 37.42
Frozen Aura 63.17 2.1 30.08
avg DPA 41.04 (sum/6)
I've never really found DPA important to my enjoyment of a set. I just like seeing big numbers, which is why I didn't like staff fighting (and didn't buy it): Most of the damage is DoT. I don't like dual blades, beam rifle, or dual pistols for the same reason. I think that can skew the perceptions of anyone watching the orange numbers fly. It's also why I still love energy melee - I don't care how long the animation is, as long as the power hits like a truck when it's done. It's also why stone melee is my favorite set - short animations AND hits like a truck. Low DPS potential because of recharge times be damned.
Outside the vacuum, this isn't particularly fair to SF since it's AoE blows Ice's away - but for taking down a boss in a satisfying amount of time the AoE means nothing, so if that's the complaint here's the data. -
Quote:Sometimes 'First!' is its own reward in an MMO. By having a period of 'exclusivity' with the T9 items you make it desirable for certain personality types to spend money getting access to it before the masses have a crack at it. By the time the masses have a crack at it, those who care are on to the next collectible. So basically you will rename the "T9 VIP" to "T9 VIP for sometime and then everyone can have it via another method"? Tell me, what's the point of having a "T9 VIP" again then?
Here's a suggestion: make "T9 VIP" go away, turn it into a "Revolving Tier" and let everyone have access to it, regardless of what tier they are actually on. This way you still get your points (money) and at least there's no pretence of creating VIP costume content only.
Business wise it makes sense.
That said while the warning on the non-beta forums is appreciated it still comes across as a sleazy sale pitch. Because no exact date of I23 release is included it reads like 'get it while you can, because while it will be back we're not sure how or when'. -
Luke Cage is a street justice/inv scrapper. He's got superhuman strength, sure, but he's more about using it to his advantage with a street brawling fighting style than slamming the ground with his fists and causing an earthquake.
I read through the Wall and... I'm not really feeling it. Concept's fine and anything can work if you want it to. Still, there comes a point where you have to ask yourself what are you doing? If fear is desired, dark armor comes with a fear aura. And a stun aura. And good resistances so you don't give up ANYTHING to get the mez-bomb tanker effect. Even has a damage aura to gather aggro.
Make Bison Boy II a dark/ tanker and drop the 'bad' from the thread title. -
Well, thanks to this thread I just spent an hour watching robot chicken Wars clips.
Totally worth it. -

Definitely an improvement. While I'm sure it looks better on film than in that poster my feeling is that if they're going to mute the colors that much they might as well use his black with silver emblem 'Resurrection' costume.

If it weren't for the "S" I wouldn't have recognized that as Superman.
-
Indeed. The panther stealth power will be totally controllable by a player.

Quote:I have no intention of reading the rest of the books (Game of Thrones was good, but not to my tastes in fantasy) so I don't mind but... you're kind of cluttering up the dev digest with spoilers.Well, Arya seems to be the one Stark willing to do/sacrifice whatever is necessary to achieve her goals, it bodes well for her in the long run. However, I believe she will get close to her goal, but because she's one of the faceless men (women?) she'll be tragically killed by someone who should be her ally, probably by a member of her own family who doesn't realize it's her at the time.

Magic. Hands down. Spells and artifacts all the way! Even on origins that aren't magic.
My 'natural' werewolf (not a curse, not a mutation, just something he was born with common to his people) uses a magical sword that never dulls, can be summoned with a thought, and can cut through nearly anything to explain why he doesn't have a scabbard and why he's (slowly) able to hack apart apartment building sized robots. It's fully unlocked potential is also his excuse to incarnate-dom.
My Widow uses that Carnie mask you can get in a villain tip mission to justify her power bump to Incarnate.
Loving all the magic stuff recently. I had two characters in mind (one hero, one villain - two of my first characters made) that were seemingly BORN to run through Dark Astoria, as one is a sentinel against dark magic usage and the other draws her powers through a 'death gate'. -
It's catchy, it's true (to a point. I know plenty of smart geeks who never did anything with their lives, living in the cliched basement of their parents house blowing their paycheck on their hobbies. That's never cool.), and yet it still somehow ends up sounding to me like something a picked on kid would be saying to the mirror to try and get through the mocking to come that day.
Perhaps it just resonates a little too strongly to be empowering or self-righteous since I had that desperate conversation with the mirror most of my life. -
Quote:Pssst. Enemies have 50% base chance of hitting. Players have 75% base. It's one of the best kept secrets in the game, so keep it on the downlow, please. Wouldn't want the devs to buff the enemies hit chance to 64% in incarnate trials or anything.nice try did you fail at defence versus resitance calculations?
defence is all or nothing....your statistics are if the person is being hit 100 times
yes normally out of 100 attacks with only hide you might get hit 48 times if its another player like the example being used implies.
you are trying to imply resistance...a person with hide isnt going to take 47.5% of the damage they have a potential of not taking any damage with your base 50% chance to hit(thats a player only of the same level by the way) with -5% due to hide.
which means they have 55% chance your thing will miss normaly....in this case a player...since only players have a base 50% chance to hit. After all if enemies only had that.....most players wouldnt get ever.
Yah hide doesnt give resistance only some defence...and when hidden it gives like 25% to area of effect defence. also it still has a broken null value in hide.
